Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Waiting for spring

6 degrees this morning but it warmed up during the
day and the sun came out.
Lots of melting going on.

Decided to take a little blogging break.
Not going anywhere just need a break.

I'll be back when spring comes around again.

A Happy Day To You.

Oh no, even more

With it being 15 degrees this morning and very windy
and with ice and snow on the sidewalks in town
I decided to walk inside.

Walked 6 miles
First time 2 1/2
Second time 2
Third time 1 1/2

More snow today.
From the basement door as I walked by.

A scene from Ken's Train Layout.
A campground.
A bit blurry - sorry.

Got a good bit of housework done.
No hanging the sheets outside.
Inside on the drying rack for them today.

Dusted and straightened out the top shelves in our bedroom closet.
Now if we could only keep them that way.
My side of the office got cleaned and straightened up too.
Ken's side is a different story - but I don't touch his stuff. 🙂

Knitted this afternoon, read, and looked out of the window a lot.
One minute it looked like it was going to clear up and the next
moment it looked like a blizzard.
By suppertime it had stopped and I'm pretty sure that is the end of it.

That's all for today.
Thanks for visiting.
A happy Monday to you. 😊

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!

1.  Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

2.  Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

3.  Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

4.  Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name in earth, and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Deb - Sorry, forgot to answer your question yesterday. Yes, I still read books on my Kindle.  I download free books, and also borrow some from the library.  Still like to read 'real' books too though so I do both.  Kindle is great for reading at night and I like the nice big print.

Winter pays another visit

What happened to Spring?

31 degrees this morning and a dusting of snow over everything.
During my walk there were some snow showers, a little
bit of sun and then more snow showers.
Didn't mind though because at least I was outside walking.

Walked all around town and both cemeteries.
Went up Sale Barn a ways too.

Didn't see anyone else out walking and not many cars either.

I took a bunch of pictures so made a few collages.

The same Silo from different places
.

Hope you enjoyed my walk pictures.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🌥    🌨    😊

Pancake breakfast morning.

Ken went to the Dollar General on his own after breakfast
while I got some house chores done.

The other day I mentioned to Liz that I couldn't find
Brummel and Brown in the Shop and Save or Dollar General.
She went shopping at Walmart this morning, found it there
and bought some for me and dropped it off.
It was a small kindness but meant so much to me.
What a blessing Liz is. ❤️😊

It snowed on and off all day.
One moment it would be snowing like crazy,
then the sun came out for a bit,
then snow again.
Supposed to keep this up through tomorrow.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
A happy Saturday to you. 😊

Interesting to hear the differing opinions on the house for sale in town.
The price is a bit high for here and don't think they will get the asking price, but we shall see.

Friday

On the way to town I saw a bunch of deer and a rabbit.

This morning when I walked it was 34 degrees, calm and sunny
once the sun rose.  Some clouds came along at the end of my walk.

Walked up and down the main road
and then up and around the cemetery on the hill.
Went to see the bulls.
It wasn't dark by this time but not quite light yet either.
All the bulls were still all laying down sleeping.

Next I walked over to the industrial park.
It's just up there on the left at the sign
just before the Dollar General.
Probably have to enlarge picture to see.

Here's a closer look.

Walking in the industrial park.

Walked back through town and to the Jeep.
Didn't see anyone else out walking but did run into Bill again
doing some work around town.

You can see pictures of the inside of the house for sale that was
on yesterdays post

Walked 6 miles

🌤    🥾    🌼    😊

The only sun I saw today was while walking.
It was cloudy, windy, and cold all day.

Wouldn't you know since I got library books out the other day
the one I've been waiting for since last month came in and we
went to the library to pick it up.
One of Ken's was in too.

I gave Lori the 30 cents for the books I bought on Tuesday.
She had a chuckle as I gave her the 30 cents plus 3 cents interest. 😀
10% interest is pretty good now a days.
The interest was Ken's idea.

I'm still enjoying doing Wordle each day.
Read and knitted some this afternoon.

We had homemade pizza for supper.
Friday seems like a good day for pizza.
(but doesn't every day) 😀

That's my day.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
A happy Friday to you.

A sunny day

A cloudy morning walk today, no wind, and 44 degrees.

Driving to town I saw 4 deer and a rabbit.

Walked up and down the main road in town and
then both cemeteries, the ball park and some side streets.

Saw Rebecca out running.

Lots of worms all over the place.
Guess the rain drove them out of the ground.

For Sale sign just went up at this house right on main street.
Since we moved up here (8 1/2 years) this is the fourth time it has been for sale.
First two times it took a LONG time, the third time it sold in 4 days.
Wonder how long it will take this time.
I'm thinking people get tired of living so close to the road.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🥾    🌼    😊

Did the usual morning routine around the house.

Turned out to be a beautiful sunny day and I spent some time
sitting out on the back deck in the swing reading.

David and Liz came over late afternoon for game time.
We played Uno.
Played for a while, ate supper and then continued playing.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Thursday to you. 😊

A few of you wondered how the mailbox got knocked down. Pretty sure the snow plow got it.  The mailbox is not by a residence but a business that is no longer there.

First blooms around town

42 degrees this morning, breezy, cloudy, and looking like rain.

Walked straight through town and down the main road
to the curve in the road.
Went up the farm road a ways and then turned around.
Would like to keep walking up the farm road but it is private property.

Remember this picture from when I took pictures of all the mailboxes?

Now it has been knocked down.

Walked around the industrial park and the road between the
IP and the main road which is one of my favorite roads to walk down
with the rolling mini hills.

So nice to see these first spring flowers blooming as I walk along.

When I first started walking around here I'd see one of the town
workers driving around in the work truck.
His name was Joe and we would wave and chat once in a while.
He retired and Paul took his place.
Lately I noticed a new man driving the truck around and he has
started waving to me.
Today he was stopped picking up some trash and I met him.
Asked what happened to Paul and he told me he retired.
So now Bill has taken Paul's place.

Walking past the day care center I noticed some little kids
standing in front of the big window.
They were all waving to me with big smiles.
What a happy thing to see and I waved back with a big smile of my own.

About a 1/2 mile left of walking it started to drizzle.
Made it back to the car before the rain got really got started.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🌧    🥾    😊

It's been an off and on again rainy day.
A good day for getting housework done.
Also good for reading and knitting.

Galla - Farmer Marvin breeds the bulls and the ones I take pictures of are mostly already sold.  They will be going to their new homes sometime this spring.  But there will be others there to take their place.

Ginny - I live in Garrett county, Maryland which is in the most north western part of the state you can get.  Deep Creek is about 10 miles or so from where I live in Accident.  You say you lived 30 minutes outside of DC.  We have lived in Waldorf,  then moved to Savage in Howard county.  Husband worked at Ft Meade.  From Savage we moved to Ellicott city right by Centennial park before moving out this way. We have the state pretty much covered. 😊

To the dentist

This morning when I went walking it was 41 degrees, cloudy, and calm.

Went up and down the road to the left of the main road,
around both the cemeteries and the ball park loops.

Road wasn't muddy so went down to see the bulls.
These two popped their heads up to see me.

This is the bull I've named SunSpot.
But seeing this picture I realized that the tag in his ear
doesn't say Sun but looks like the word is Sumt.
He's still SunSpot to me though!!

Rebecca was out running.
I was coming down the hill from the cemetery and she was running up it.

Walked down the main road and went up Sale Barn Rd
a ways where I took this scene of the barn.
(You see the silo often when I take a picture from the cemetery)

Both Ken and I had dental appointments this morning.
Mine at 10:00, his at 11:00.
It was just for our 6 month cleaning so it wasn't bad.
Both of us had great reports.
Healthy teeth and gums.

🦷    😁    🦷

I always go first to get it over with.
While it was Ken's turn I walked over to the library.
Was just going to look around but ended up checking 2 books out.

Out in the lobby there are always books for sale and today
I looked through them.
Picked out these three.
The books are a series and all three of them were there so I couldn't resist.
The books were 10 cents each.
Can't go wrong with 3 books for 30 cents.

Didn't have any money but Lori said I could pay for them next time
I was come to the library.

Walked back to the Jeep and Ken was just getting in the car.
Perfect timing.

📖    🌼    📖

From there we went to the Shop and Save to get some groceries.
Prices are on the rise!!

Lunchtime was past by the time we got home so we had a late lunch.

Didn't feel like doing any work so read and knitted.

So happy I don't have to think about the dentist for another
6 months!!!!!!

Lunch by the Lake

34 degrees this morning when I started walking.
Clear, calm, and once the sun rose a mix of sun and clouds.

Walked all around town and the two cemeteries and the ball park loops.

Didn't go see the bulls because the road was too muddy.

One of the cemeteries had a few rabbits hopping around
and at the other one I spotted a couple of Blue Birds.
Walking around I see lots of daffodils popping out of the ground.
Nothing blooming yet but it won't be long now.
Today it actually feels like spring.

Only one fisherman at the pond this morning.

Didn't see any others out walking.

Walked. 6 miles

🌤    🥾    🌼

Another nice sunny day for hanging clothes out on the line to dry.

We went to the church and loaded up the Romans books
into the church trailer.
Soon we will be dropping them off in Bedford, Pa
and picking up another new pallet of them.

On the way there we dropped off our garbage at the dump.

We ate our lunch in the truck today, parked out by the lake.

Had to stop and pick up some milk before coming back home.

Read some and also knitted for a while.

Saturday

A nice warm 50 degrees this morning.
No wind and though it was dark to start there was a little
bit of sun later on and then it was cloudy.

Quite a few people fishing around the pond on this early
Saturday morning.

Walked all over town, both cemeteries and the ball park
loop again.

Took a picture of the twin houses.
Realized they are not twins after all - the floor plans are opposite.
Windows too small and not enough of them in this house for my taste.
Still it is a cute little house.

Saw a couple rabbits hopping about, lots of geese,
robins and a few killdeer.

I just got in the Jeep to come home when I saw Joy
coming down the road from the cemetery.
We waved as I drove away.

Walked 6 miles

🌥    🌼    🥾    😊

Ken went to the Dollar General to pick up a few things
alone this morning.  I stayed home and got some stuff done
around the house.

Baked a batch of Chocolate Chippers today.
Always give some away,
will eat a few for my snack this evening and freeze the rest.

Got some more knitting done this afternoon.

I threw some stale hotdog rolls outside and we watched
a chipmunk pick a big piece of one up and sit there eating it.
It was just about as big as he was.
He stuffed his little cheeks and then sat there a while without moving,
then picked up the rest of it and ran away with it.
Wish I had a camera to have taken pictures!!
My phone doesn't zoom good.

Snowdrops

44 degrees this morning when I went walking.
It was a calm morning with some patches of fog around.
Can you spot the moon?

As usual walked down the main road first to stay under
the street lights.

Then walked around both cemeteries and the ball park loops.

Got a better look at the color of the siding on the twin houses
and now it looks like a very very pale green.
I think it would look nice with dark green trim.

Noticed these Snowdrops just past the day care center.
Such pretty little blooms.
I'm sure glad to see Snowdrops instead of snow flakes. 🙂

People fishing again this morning at the pond.

Saw Joy and we stopped for a chat.
Last time we talked she was going to go on a job interview that day.
Today I asked how it went.
She got the job. 🙂

So nice to be out walking early this morning.
It really does make my whole day a good one.

Walked 6 miles

🌤    🥾    🌼    😊

Chocolate Chip pancakes for our breakfast.
Another good way to get the day started!

Got tired of looking out of dirty windows so started the rounds of
window cleaning again.
Got the living room done.
Doing a few windows a day.
Not having curtains you really have to keep the windows clean
and we look out the windows a LOT.

We walked around Happy Trails a bit this afternoon
and didn't do any work.

Read a little and started knitting a pair of slippers.

Here we are nearing the end of another day.
They sure pass quickly.

Baby Blanket Day

The morning started out a bit wet on my walk.
I had on my rain pants and slicker.
Since there was no wind I took along my umbrella too.
45 degrees so it wasn't cold.
Only rained for the first mile then it was just cloudy
so dropped off the umbrella at the Jeep.

Walked around town where it was light and then around the
ball park and one of the cemeteries.
On the way up to the cemetery in the picture.

One of the twin houses has the siding on.
It's a grey/beige looking color.
Not a color I would pick.
Pretty sure the other house will have the same color.

Saw some more Killdeers around by the pond.
No people out walking.
Fishing season must have opened because there were 6
people finishing at the town pond.

Only got 5.5 miles in this morning.
Had to go out this morning so didn't quite have enough time.

🌧    ☁️    ☘️    😊

This morning was Baby Blanket workday at church so took
off for there after breakfast.
Breakfast is served there but I always eat at home first.

I volunteered for the devotional this month.
Blogger friend Ginny (Thanks) gave me the idea for this months devotional.
One Sunday I did a post of a couple gravestones with
Bible verses on them.
Ginny commented that my walk around the cemetery was like
a Bible lesson and I thought, Bingo, that's my topic.
Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Was different anyway.
Made me think about my own gravestone.
I've come up with this.

There were ten of us women working on blankets.

Fence and Ripple Blanket

34 degrees this morning, no wind, and after 7:25 when the sun rose
it was mostly sunny.

Walked through town and over to the industrial park
and walked around there.
Also walked up and down the road behind the Dollar General.

No people again but did see LOTS of Robins.
They are all over the place.
Saw a couple Killdeers too.

Sorry no walking pictures today.
Took a couple but they turned out blurry.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    ☘️    😊

Another nice day for drying the clothes outside on the line.
Ended up being 60 degrees!!

Finished up housework in the morning.
Afternoon I was outside adding more deadfall to the fences.
This time out front out front.
It's not neat, I just keep adding branches.

We have 21 acres of woods so adding to the fences will never be done.
I have started fences over the place!!
Some of the fence decays over time so I'll always be adding
more deadfall.
Ken came outside too and we ended up going for a ride in the
ATV all over Happy Trails.

Finished the Baby Blanket.
Knitted a Ripple one this time.
I finished way early for the April Blanket.

Now that will leave me a month that I can concentrate
on making weave-it squares for the yellow bedspread I'm making for our bed.

I put the Ripple Pattern on my other blog so

Poor little snowman

Sunrise 7:27 so I walked a good portion of my walk in the dark.
39 degrees, calm, and sun and clouds once the sun rose.

I stayed walking along the roads with street lights and then
when it was light walked around the cemeteries and the ball park.

All the ice and snow is gone except for areas that don't get much sun.
This is around the ball park loop.
Thought it was kind of neat to see the frozen footsteps.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.
Though maybe they were and I just couldn't see them in the dark!

Driving back home about a mile from home I saw 5 deer all
running together in a row.

Walked 6 miles

🥾    ☘️    😊

Nice to get my housework done in the morning and that
leaves the afternoon for fun stuff.

I went outside and picked up lots of deadfall that has come
down during the last few months
and added it to my continuing work on the natural fences.
This work will never end but I do enjoy doing it.
Besides making a nice natural fence that doesn't cost anything
it is good exercise too.
All that bending and picking up.
I took a picture but didn't like how it turned out.

There is a little bit of snow left out front and I made a
little snowman.
Poor little thing looks pretty pathetic. ⛄️ 😊

Monday

A dark start for walking this morning with the clocks changed.
It was 31 degrees.
Once the sun rose it was a mix of sun and clouds.

Wondered how it would be for walking in town but it was pretty good.
Some places not so good to walk.

And other places just fine.

The cemeteries and ball park were mostly snow and ice covered
so walked on the roads that were clear.

I saw 4 deer, 2 rabbits, and 2 Killdeer
but no people out this morning walking around.

Walked 6 miles

🌤    😊    🥾

Ended up having a nice sunny day of 50 degrees making all the snow go away.
Nice enough to hang the sheets out on the line again this week.

Our church gives out Gospel Tracts.
They get shipped to our church in boxes.
We brought two boxes of them home to count them in groups of
10 and then put rubber bands around them.
Makes it easy for people to grab 10 at a time.
Each pile you see on the table is in a stack of 100.
We thought it would take long time but we got them all
done in 2 hours.

After I did that didn't feel like cleaning the bathroom so will get
that done tomorrow.

That's all for today.
