Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy 4th

A mix of sun and clouds and 61 degrees this morning for walking.

A very random walk all over town in no particular route or order.

Some people out and about getting ready for the parade later this morning.

Fire engines all washed and shiny.

Joy was out walking this morning and we stopped to talk.
She walks later in the day so I don't see her very often anymore.
Rebecca was out walking too.

Nice to see the fountain in the pond up and flowing again.
The heron paid a rare visit to the pond.
Don't know if you can see it in the picture.
I walked around to the other side to try to get a better picture
but it flew away.

This is the last of the gravestones with the detailed pictures on them.

🌀    πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ    πŸ₯Ύ     πŸ˜Š

Ken got started with the cleaning of the garage.
I finished up this weeks house cleaning
and made macaroni salad.

This afternoon I finished making the weave-it baby blanket
for Liz's first grandbaby.
Now I'm knitting booties with the same yellow yarn to go with the blanket.

David and Liz both had to work today so it's just Ken and I.
We had grilled hamburgers and the macaroni salad I made this morning.

It's been a beautiful cool sunny day again.
Perfect weather for summer as far as I'm concerned.

Hope you enjoyed your day.
Thanks for stopping by.

Cows

Great walking weather this morning.
57 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds.

Started walking back down the main road which I just drove up.
Turned around after 1/2 miles and headed back to town.
Made a detour and went up Sale Barn Road.

Some of Farmer Marvin's cows and calves have been put in the
pasture along the road.
Lots of good grasses to eat here.

Walked back the rest of the way to and through town,
up and down a few side streets, and around the ball park loop.
Continued back to the Jeep and the end of my walk.

Quiet around town this Friday morning.
Didn't see any others out.

It's Friday so I have another engraved gravestone to show you.

🌀    πŸͺ¦    😊    🌻

I baked the last batch of chocolate chip cookies for Bible Time.
That makes a total of 21 1/2 dozen. πŸͺ

Kept some of the cookies to bring to the library tomorrow
when I meet the ladies for Needleworks.
Last week I told them I was baking cookies and they all
wanted some too. πŸ™‚πŸͺ

Our garden shed was supposed to be delivered today but we got
a call and said they wouldn't be able to make it today.
Another delivery was posing a problem because of mud.
A little disappointed but that's the way it goes.

A good sunny day in between rainy days so got two loads
of laundry washed and hung out to dry.

When I went to take the clothes off the line there was a deer
roaming around at back.
I like that she just looked up at me and then continued eating
and didn't pay any attention to be taking in the clothes.
She is so used to us.

One of the ladies at Blankets yesterday asked if I would knit her
a scrubby so I started knitting that this afternoon.

Always look forward to our homemade pizza on Fridays for supper.

Hope your Friday was a sunny one.
Thanks for stopping by.

GrannyM - There are bears around and people often see them. They are around our property too but we don't see them very often and when we do they just run away.

Gravestone, Deer Video

It was a cloudy morning today but calm and 62 degrees.
Sunrise 5:48

First walked around the lower cemetery.
Then back down the road toward home a ways before turning around
and heading back to town.

Next I walked around the cemetery on top of the hill.
Here's this Fridays
Engraved Gravestone which is at this cemetery.

Continued around town and to the ball park and around there too.

The area that was dug out and leveled at the ball park is now getting paved.
Keystone was there working this morning.
They are the same people who paved our driveway a few weeks ago.
I was going to ask them what is going to be there but didn't want to get in the way.

From there I walked back to the Jeep and ended my walk.

I saw Sheila's car in the parking lot but never did see her.

I was a block or so from my house diving home when I spotted
a couple of deer.
I stopped and took a picture.
There is a second deer off to the right that you can barely see.

☁️    🦌    πŸ™‚

Just before lunch we went to town.
Ken wanted to get some things from G & W Lumber in town
and I went with him but he dropped me off at the library.
He had a DVD to pick up that was on hold so I got it for him.
I ended up finding two books to read and 4 DVD's for myself as well.

Ken picked me up on his way home.

The sun came out and I spent some time puttering around outside.

A little video of the baby deer meeting up with her mama out back.
If you click on the little square in the right corner the video will get big.

lt's Friday so supper was homemade pizza.

That's it for this post.
Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by.

Nicole - I have three size scoops from Pampered Chef and use the small one for the cookies.  It makes nice round cookies.

Foggy Morning

A foggy start this morning when I went for my walk.
It was 61 degrees and calm.

A foggy mosaic.
The first picture is taken on my drive to town.

First walked around both of the cemeteries.
Passing the pond, the two geese families were there and don't
even move when I walk by now, they are so used to seeing me.
Soon the babies will be as big as their parents.

Headed on over to the ball park and walked around that loop
a couple of times.

Awhile ago now an area was cleared of grass.
I see now that the sides have been cleaned up, leveled,
and a layer of stone put down.
Looks like a building is going to be put it.
Will have. to see.

The rest of my walk was all around town, up and down all the streets.

One of the child care places in town just got a fun new outside toy.

Didn't see any one else about around town this morning.

By the end of my walk the fog was gone and the sun came out
though it is still hazy.

Another engraved gravestone for this Friday.
Another young person

πŸͺ¦    πŸͺ¦    πŸͺ¦

Did my usual morning routine around the house.

The sun left us midmorning and the rain came down quite heavy.
Even heard a few thunder claps.
We had more sun and more rain throughout the day.

I baked some Rhubarb Bread using some of the frozen rhubarb
I had in the freezer.
Delicious to me, not so for Ken.
Tastes good with a bit of butter spread on it.

Made some weave-it squares.
Only 6 more to go to finish the latest baby blanket.
Maybe today it will be done, for sure tomorrow.

Friday and as you know by now it's homemade pizza night.

Thanks everyone for stopping by on this fine Friday.
I wish you happiness and contentment.

John's Poem, Fridays gravestone, and a bird feeder

First off I want to say thank you to John who wrote
the nice poem in comments about my post yesterday.
Thought it deserved a mention.
It's a lovely poem.

Dear Happy K, your day sounds bright,
Even fog can’t dim its light.
With every step through town you roam,
Each garden path feels close to home.

Sean’s yard must be a lovely scene,
A quiet park of lush and green.
A winding trail would be a treat,
Where blooms and peaceful moments meet.

A black and white cat comes and goes,
A quiet watcher, heaven knows.
And spicy chicken, tater tots too—
Simple joys that carry through.

With yarn in hand and book in lap,
You found your peace, your midday nap.
Thanks for the stroll through all you do—
It brought a bit of calmness too.

58 degrees this morning when I got to town for my morning walk.
Started out cloudy.

Walked around both of the cemeteries and then over to the ball park
and that's when the sun came out.

Back around through town, passed the library and dropped off a book.

No people about.
Saw a few rabbits scurrying around
and sad to say another one didn't make it across the road.

Every year I take a picture of this huge rhododendron.
It's the biggest one I've ever seen.

Here's this Friday's engraved gravestone.

☁️    🌀    πŸ˜€

While I was out walking Ken went to the Rolling Pin here in town
and surprised me with some freshly made donuts for breakfast.
We hardly ever have them so it was a real treat.

It was sunny this morning with rain coming in the afternoon so we
went outside in the morning and yes it did rain later.

Ken cut some old logs up that were out back.

Used the logs to make a bird feeder.
There is chicken wire on top of the log.
The birds can get to the seed but it is hard for the squirrels and chipmunks
to get at it.
We haven't had bird feeders because they seem to attract bears,
so we shall see.

I'm putting the seeds out here.

Here it is waiting for those song birds to come eat.

I'm just having two tomato plants this year and putting them in
this pot on the back deck.
Just have to get a couple of plants now.

Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by.

Another fine day

A cloudy morning walk with a temperature of 45 degrees.
At times there were a few peeks of blue sky.

First walked around both cemeteries, then around the ball park,
and continued over to the industrial park and around there.

Then it was back to the Jeep and home again.

It seemed more like a Sunday morning than Saturday.
Town was like a ghost town.
A very quiet and peaceful walk.

Yesterday it was Friday and I forgot to post this weeks
engraved gravestone
so here it is a day late.

Sunrise is an early 5:55

🌻    ☁️    🌻

Needleworks Day at the library this morning.
5 of us there this time.
Mikey showed us a beautiful bulky blanket she knitted which we all loved.
She gave us the pattern and when I got home I ordered the yarn
to knit it.
I ordered it from Herrschners and as luck would have it,
it was the last day of a free shipping deal. πŸ˜€

Came home from the library with yet another book to read.
Now I have 5 checked out.

The sun came out this afternoon but it was windy and stayed cool.

Since we didn't have pizza yesterday we DID make it for supper today.
We put roasted red peppers on it this time.

That's all for today.
Hope your had a super day.
Thanks for popping in for a visit.

Deb - We have people of all ages in our church, from newborn babies to the oldest
man who just turned 101!!  This week at Fingerprints was actually a low turn out.  We usually get over 20 people.  The workers are all ages too.  Even young children come out with their parents.  The little ones help by transferring the materials from one station to another. It is really a fun time and I am thankful to be part of it all.

The Baby Deer

We were supposed to have thunder storms starting at 8:00
so I went walking a little earlier than usual so I'd be home before 8.

It sure looked like it would storm but it never did.

Walked around both of the cemeteries and went to the long barn
to say hi to the cows.

Then I walked around town and to the ball park,
around there and then back to the Jeep.

John was walking Prim,
Shawn was running,
and a woman I see once in a while was walking her dog.

It's Friday and I have another engraved gravestone to show you.

It was warm this morning for walking at 66 degrees and windy.
Sunrise 6:01

☁️    🌸    πŸ₯Ύ    πŸ™‚

I gambled with the weather and hung my clothes out on the line.
I'm glad I did because they dried before it rained.

Finished up all those house chores this morning that I put off
from yesterday when I went outside.

The sun came out and it was beautiful outside.
I went out and started clearing the way for another path out back.

Afterwards I got some porch sitting time in.

We did get that thunderstorm but not until late afternoon.

Ken was out on the ATV and on one of the trails when he came across
this tiny fawn that looked like it was dead.
Ken got off the ATV and he said the fawn was still warm and thought
it must have died recently.
He picked the fawn up by the leg to move it to the side and to his
happy surprise the fawn wiggled and when Ken set it down
it ran a little way off and laid down again.
The doe's put their fawns in a place and they stay there till
mom comes for them again later.
Sure glad this story had a happy ending.

Homemade pizza day has rolled around once again.
I make the dough for two pizzas each time I make it so only have to
make the dough every other week.
Even though I had one in the freezer, made two more today,
Now I'll have 2 extras doughs in the freezer.

It's been another good day though a busy one.
Hope your Friday was a good one.
Thanks for stopping by.

I have a lot of favorite Bible verses but this one is very near the top.
If I had always listened to this I would have avoided many problems
in my life.
