Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Milk Bottle Monday

25 degrees this morning and sunny when I walked in town.
Walked around the cemetery up the hill and then all around town.
It was wonderful to be walking outside in the fresh air.🥾❤️
Something not to be taken for granted!
Sunrise was 6:56 so didn't even have to walk in the dark.

Farmer Marvin has some big piles of manure to spread over the fields.
That's a smelly job.

Very quiet around town and didn't see anyone else out.

Morning walk steps 11,082

🌤    🥾    🙂

Pretty quiet around the house too.
Did the usual housework this morning.
Sheets got washed and I would have been able to hang them outside
because the temperature got up to 46 degrees this afternoon.
Only thing the deck is still covered in snow and that is where my
clothes line is.

Milk Bottle Monday
These aren't really 'milk bottles' but milk goes in them.
They are two old baby bottles.
This is the last of my milk bottles and so the last

Hope everyone had a good Monday.

Milk Bottle Monday

More winter weather so yet again a walk in the basement.

Got a good start on this weeks housework.

We drove into town to mail a card and go to the library.
Forgot it was Presidents Day so both things were closed.
Did drop the card down the slot and dropped the books and DVD
down the library drop.

Read and knitted this afternoon.
Still keeping up with the Temperature Blanket each day.

Started another puzzle.
This one is a scene of a house at the beach.

Milk Bottle Number 19.
This is the last of my half pint bottles.
Can't see the writing on it very good but it ways
Embassy
Near the bottom on one side it says
Embassy Dairy Inc.
Washington D.C.
On the other side near the bottom it says
REGERSTERED
HALF PINT LIQUID

For supper I made chicken tenders in the Air Fryer.
This is the first time I've made these and it won't be the last.

That's all for today.
Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by.

Milk Bottle Monday

Wore my regular walking shoes this morning but took along
my other pair with the grippers on.
Glad I had the gripper pair because it was pretty icy in places and with
the dusting of snow we got it was hard to tell where the ice was.

20 degrees this morning and cloudy, but no wind.
Sun came out after I got home.

Walked around both of the cemeteries a few times and the ball park too.

Stayed off the main road and just walked the left side of town.

Didn't see anyone else out but someone was out before me because
I saw these tracks.
Pretty sure they are from John and his dog Prim.

Also saw deer, rabbit, bird, and squirrel tracks.

☁️    🙂

Started on this weeks house work and did a load of laundry.

Had some bananas getting pretty ripe so baked a batch of
I like making the muffins instead of a banana loaf because when I
make a loaf the middle is a big soggy.

We went to the library and picked out a few DVD's to watch
and I got a couple books.

Heard from the Dr and he made a change in my medication.
Hopefully that's all it will take.
Thank you for your prayers.

Another half pint milk bottle for this Monday. (18)
Putting milk in the bottle doesn't make it any easier to see what it says
because the letters aren't colored.
One side says
MASS 0 SEAL in the circle
Then STORE 5 cents.
BOTTLE
It has the cent symbol but don't have it on my keyboard!!

Other side says
5 Cents
UNIVERSAL
STORE BOTTLE

HALF PINT
LIQUID

That's been my day
and hope your Monday was a good one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Milk Bottle Monday

I didn't walk in town this morning but later in the day took a walk around
our property, Happy Trails.
It was sunny and 54 degrees!!

Walking down the driveway

 In front of house

Walking out back

Nice to be walking in the woods and with the sun shining.

🙂    🌤    ❤️

Started the house cleaning for the week.

I ended up reading this afternoon and didn't quit till I finished
the book.

Milk Bottle Monday

I just had to get outside to walk this morning so drove to town
to see what walking would be like.
I left a little later than usual so it wasn't dark.
No wind and the sun came out.
Walking was very limited but I did get 10,467 steps walked.
I had grippers on my shoes.
Walked up and down the road to the cemetery a few times but
couldn't get in the cemetery because the snow was too deep.

Walked up to the cemetery on the hill and again snow too deep to walk
around it but walked between both of the barns a few times.

One of the cows stopped eating so I could take her picture.

Time of the year when the cows have their babies and
you can see one of the cows and her calf though the fence.

A sad looking family of snowmen but cute.🙂
Pretty sure Farmer Marvin's grandkids made them.⛄️

Though I couldn't walk far it I still enjoyed being outside and walking.
Tomorrow wind and more snow is predicted so thought I'd better get out there today.

🙂    ⛄️    ❤️

Did a third load of laundry with the new machine and this time
used the auto sensing rinse cycle.
This time it took 45 minutes and did a good job of rinsing so that is
the way for me to go.
I am very pleased with my new washing machine.

Milk Bottle 16
This is another 1/2 pint one that was for schools.
This one doesn't have a name of a dairy or where it's from on it.

Did the usual house stuff and then this afternoon
read and knitted.

It's been a nice sunny day all day and the temperature made
it all the way up to 31 degrees.

Hope you had a great Monday.
Thanks for visiting.

Milk Bottle Monday

4 degrees this morning along with lots more snow.
Another inside walk.

Ken went out to clear the driveway once again with the tractor
and the tractor quit running after a short while.
It was just too cold and the diesel fuel turned to jelly even though he put
some stuff in the to prevent that.
This was a far as it got down the driveway.

Took this picture at the end of the driveway.

Ken tried to tow the tractor out of the way with the truck and then that got stuck.
Under the snow is a coating of ice.
He finally got the truck unstuck and back in the garage.

Then along comes our neighbor Aaron with his skid steer and helps
Ken push the tractor back up the driveway.

Not only that, since we couldn't use the tractor to clear the driveway
he did that too.

What a blessing to have such good neighbors!!!!!

Sandi asked what I did before I retired.

I was a stay at home mom so didn't go out to work so never did retire.

When we were first married Ken was in the Navy and we went
to Scotland and then Puerto Rico so there wasn't much opportunity to
work anyway.

When David and Debbi were in grade school,
I was the mom who helped out the teachers.
Also volunteered once a week at the school library.

Did a bit of baby sitting too.

Ken and I made wooden items and sold them in a little shop.
Judy owned the shop and there were 6 others of us who had little
sections in the shop to sell our items.
We didn't have to pay any rent but had to work there a day each week.
We also went to auctions and bought antiques and collectables to sell there too.
Did that for about 4 years.

The kids were grown and left the house and then I started delivering
Meals on Wheels and did that for 15 years.
Route 2 was mine and I was the leader for that route.
I delivered every Wednesday and every other Friday and when others
from my route couldn't make it.
I loved doing that and met so many wonderful people.

Then when Ken retired we moved up here and have been here
ever since and love it even with the snowy winters.

⛄️    ⛄️

This is Milk Bottle number 15.
Just a small 1/2 pint which is just a cup (8 oz)
and were used by school kids before the little cartons.
This one comes from my neck of the woods in New Jersey
where I grew up.

Today we made chicken burritos for supper.

That's it for this day.
Hope you had a great Monday and thanks for stopping by.

Ginny - The cow that you liked on the top of the hutch the other day was made my Ken.
Victor - Not sure how many puzzles we do in a year but start doing them when the first snow comes along and continue doing them all winter.  I would guess we do about 10 of the during the winter.

Milk Bottle Monday

The snow continues here so another inside walk today.

Did housework this morning.
Laundry
Half bath and laundry room
Vacuum and dust

Made another couple of loaves of English Muffins.

Looking out the window watching it snow I saw this little bird
sitting out on a long dead weed eating the seeds from it.
Stayed quite a long time.
Took a picture and you might be able to see it if you
enlarge the picture.
It is right in the middle.

This is Milk Bottle Number 14.
This one is from England
It is a PINT
On the bottle near the top which you can't read it says
SEAWAYS

Bottom edge on one side it says
568 ml 15mm  3 B2

The other bottom edge
 All  JC

About 2 this afternoon we went outside.
Ken got our driveway passable with the tractor.
I shoveled by the garage doors and the steps and then just walked around.

Down the driveway.

Looking left at the bottom of the driveway.

Looking Right at the bottom of the driveway.

Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with the cardiologist.
Asking people who pray to please say a little prayer 🙏🏻 for me
that I'm calm about the appointment (Hate going to doctors) and
all goes well.
Thanks!!!

That's all for today.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Milk Bottle Monday

37 degrees, cloudy, and windy this morning when I walked in town.
For the past 4 days sunrise has been 7:37.

Walked through town and over to the DG Market where
I turned around walked back to the ball park.

I haven't seen the chickens for a few weeks now.
Maybe they don't have them anymore.
Haven't see anyone to ask about them.

Next walked around the lower cemetery.

Then it was up the hill to the other cemetery.
Very windy.
I made it up the hill in record time with the wind pushing me all the way.🙂

The two horses were back in the pasture by the Drane house.
Haven't seen them for months and months!!

The one came over to see me.

Walking back down the hill the wind was against me and it was like
walking UP the hill.
Glad to be out walking though, wind and all.

Again no one else out that I saw.
Others probably waiting till it isn't so dark.

Morning Walk Steps 11,065

☁️    💨    🎉    🙂

We went to the dump this morning and got rid of our garbage.
On the way back we stopped at the DG Market.
Picked out a few cards including a retirement one for Connie.
Also got her a Visa Gift card.
A few of you asked if Connie lived in town.
She doesn't right in town but near enough that I'll see her once in a while.
The other 2 librarians, Lori and Mya are still there and they are
very nice and helpful also.
They will probably hire a third one to replace Connie.

The DG Market had some Christmas tins on sale for 50 cents each
so I bought 4 of them to use next year.
How can you pass them up for that price!!!

We started a puzzle a couple of days ago.
David and Liz gave us a big jigsaw puzzle work board.
It was the perfect gift for us because it is something that is nice to have
but we would never had bought for ourselves.

Milk Bottle Number 13

Last weeks bottles were the last of the quart bottles.
This one is a pint.

Got a good start on some of the usual weekly house chores.

I started reading Fellowship Point by Alice Elliot Dark
which is the next book club selection and read about 50 pages
and it just wasn't doing it for me so I'm not going to read it.

Hope you enjoyed your Monday.
Thanks for stopping by.

Milk Bottle Monday

It was only 11 degrees this morning and thought that was a bit chilly for walking so decided to wait until the sun came up and it was a little warmer.

While waiting I got a load of laundry washed and on the rack, read my Bible, and once Ken got up had breakfast.
Did the dishes, made the bed and at 9:15 it had warmed up to 19 so then I went to town for my walk.

The sun was shining brightly and by the time I had finished walking it was up to 29.

Didn't see anyone else out walking but there was evidence that someone was there earlier - footprints in the snow.

I had my grippers on my shoes again and stayed walking around the cemeteries and the ball park.

Some pictures I took along my way.

It was so nice walking out in the sunshine.
Steps for todays walk were 10,902

☀️    🎄    ⛄️    🙂

After lunch Ken wanted to go to Walmart to get a few things.
I knew it would be a bad idea with Christmas in two days but we went anyway.
It was a mad house and you don't find that very often up here.
To keep me from getting annoyed with people I started singing Christmas songs quietly and it worked.
Hard to be annoyed when singing. 🙂

Milk Bottles Number 11 and 12
Doing two this week because they are both kind of plain and no colored lettering on them so it is hard to read.
Both are quart bottles.
This one has D.C.S written on both sides and on the bottom of bottle it says
Property of D.C.S. Inc. St Louis MO and number 56

This one says Highland Dairies on one side
and the other says RETURN PROMPTLY
On bottom
11
E52

Debbie, one of my friends at the stitching group made a beautiful Christmas
ball for each of us.
They were all different colors and this is the one I picked out.

Well, that's going to be all for today.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a visit.
A happy day to you.

Milk Bottle Monday

Yesterday I had just gotten back from my walk when we had the freezing rain start that was predicted.
Happy I got to walk before it started.
We missed church though but again happy that we were able to watch on line.

It warmed up during the night and rained so this morning it was just wet and cloudy, no rain.
It was 37 degrees and no wind.
Morning Walk Steps 10,605

Didn't see anyone else out walking again and nothing going on around town.
As I walked around town I stopped at the library and dropped a DVD down the slot.
We've been watching a British cop show called London Kills which is pretty good.
Watched two seasons of it.

Walked up and down some side streets in town and both cemeteries and the ball park too.

☁️    🎄    🙂

We left this morning and drove down to LaVale for the day.
It was pretty foggy down that way.
Walked around and looked in a bunch of stores and even purchased some things so it was a productive shopping day.
Before arriving home we got the third season of London Kills from the library so we'll be watching that this evening and I'll knit while watching.

Milk Bottle Number 9
This is another quart sized one
Put milk in it but with no color to the bottle it didn't make it any easier to read the words on the bottle.

That's all I've got for today.
Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by.

Milk Bottle Monday

The sidewalks and side streets in town are still not cleared of ice and snow and it is only 15 degrees so it was another day of walking inside for me.

I spent most of the day working on the counted cross stitch Christmas ornament I'm making for my give-a-way one for Babies for Blankets.
Was just going to work on it a little bit this morning and before I knew it, it was lunch time.

We put our garbage in the back of the truck and took it to the dump.

Milk Bottle Number 7
It is another quart size but the writing on the bottle has no color so even filled with milk you can't read what it says.

One side says
Safe Milk for Babies!

The other side says
Chestnut Farms
Chevy Chase
Dairy
Washington, D.C.

On the bottom of the bottle it says
Cream Top Pat. MAR.3 25
L 41

Not much to blog about today so that's going to be it.
Hope you have had an enjoyable Monday and thanks for stopping by.

Milk Bottle Monday

31 degrees this morning in town when I walked and it was calm.
Dark at first and then later there was some sun and clouds.
Morning Walk Steps 10,759
You may have noticed I cut my walk down to 10,000 steps - that has always been my goal and I usually end up increasing it as time goes by.

There is a very thin layer of ice on the pond but it will be gone by this afternoon because it was already 40 degrees at the end of my walk.

I walked straight through town and over to the industrial park and around in there.
Then it was around the ball park loop, up and down some side streets, and around one of the cemeteries.

Quiet around town and didn't see anyone else out and about.

Looks like someone cut 4 nice Christmas trees down.
Wonder if they plan on selling them.

⛅️    🦃    🙂

We left for Walmart first thing this morning for food shopping and picked up those last minutes things for Thanksgiving.

Planned on stopping at the library to pick up a couple of DVD's (my books aren't there yet) but we were just a bit too early and the library wasn't open yet.
Opens at 11:00 Mon - Fri.
We unloaded the Jeep and while I put things away, Ken went to town to pick up his DVD's.

Had a do a load of laundry and the clothes had to dry on the rack inside.
Though it was warm enough to hang them outside, it turned cloudy and looked like rain and besides the deck still has snow all over it and that's where my clothes line is.

We finished the puzzle last night.
Wanted to have it done by Thanksgiving because we need the table!!! and we made it in plenty of time.🙂🧩

It's Milk Bottle Monday again and this is Number 6
Another quart size and the writing is the same on both sides.

Hope your Monday was a good one.
