Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Measuring cups

Today the sunrise starts getting later.
Sunrise yesterday 5:48
Today 5:49

Got to town at 6:20 and started my walk.
Temperature was 55 with a mix of sun and clouds.

Walked around both of the cemeteries and the ball park first.
Then up and down the main road and all the side streets.

Pictures along my way.

A man was planting shrubs and mulching all around the dark house.

A little boy made me smile.
I saw him come out his back door and get in a little motorized car.
He drove it over to the swing set out back.

Stitching morning at the library and there were only 3 of us there this time.
Mikey was knitting a blanket,
Lena was crocheting a scarf,
and I was knitting a scarf.
Mikey gave me another blanket pattern to knit. πŸ™‚

After stitching I left the Jeep in the library parking lot and walked
over to the little antique shop in town that Lynn owns.
I like to buy a little something every time I go there.
This time I got a set of measuring cups to add to my collection.
They look like tin but are ceramic.

Another nice sunny and cool day.

Friendly's ice cream was a hit with me yesterday.
Though the chocolate pieces were big there were lots of them.
I'll be having more later.

Happy Saturday.
Thanks for visiting.

Last of the measuring cups

It was even warmer than yesterday morning at 48 degrees.
It had rained during the night but remained cloudy with a bit of a breeze
for all of my walk.
Saw a deer run across the road on my way to town
and got to town and started walking at 6:35.
Sunrise 7:15

Walked through town down the main street and up and down all
the side streets and a couple of loops around the ball park.
The man who owns the chickens was in the yard feeding them.
I stopped for a chat with him.
All escapes have been returned but there's one chicken that keeps getting out.
There's one in every crowd. πŸ“
Next I walked around both of the cemeteries.

Didn't take any walking pictures.

☁️    ❤️    πŸ˜€

Met up with the stitching group at the library this morning.
I knitted on my pink shawl.
There were 6 of us there and a dog named Cheddar who is a Service dog.
The woman who was there is extremely food sensitive and Cheddar
can sniff out 38 different foods which she is allergic to.
When food is put in front of him if Laura can't eat the food
Cheddar will sit there, if it is good to eat he will lay down.
Pretty amazing.
Cheddar is a beautiful white golden born in England.
It was hard not to be able to pet him because he was working.

This is the last of my measuring cups.
I like these because they are colorful.
There are the regular 4 sizes and the purple one is 2 tablespoons.

Next week I'll be posting the measuring spoons that I have.

An evening out for us today.
The couples in our church are going out for dinner for Valentine's Day.
The restaurant is The Candlewyck Inn an hour away from us in Keyser, WV.
We will be leaving in just a few minutes.

Happy Saturday and thanks for stopping by.

Copper

It was cloudy this morning but a warm 44 degrees.
A bit of a breeze which felt nice.
Started out with one less layer of clothing on and took another one off
after walking a block.
Got to town and started walking at 6:30.
Sunrise 7:16
Morning Walk Steps 13,017

Made a stop at the library and put a DVD down the drop.
Continued through town and over to the industrial park and
walked all around there.

Back to town and around the ball park loop.
The chickens live next to where I walk and today one of the chickens had escaped.
On my second turn around there were 4 more escapees.

I went up to the house and knocked on the door and told them their
chickens had escaped.
She laughed, thanked me, and said she'd go and fix the hole in the fence.

Next I walked up to the cemetery on the hill.
The fields by the cemetery had the left over stubs of the corn stalks
rolled into bales.
They are quite big up close.
I walked up to one and they are taller than I am at 5'5".

A couple times around the cemetery and my walk was done.

Saw Sheila out running.
She told me she as been running in the afternoons lately.
That explains why I haven't seen her in a while.

☁️    ❤️    πŸ˜€

I made us French toast for breakfast and soon after
David and Liz came by.
They stayed to visit for a while and then left to get some errands done.

We finished watching the last episode of the of Doc Martin last night.
which we enjoyed very much.
We bought all ten seasons so we could watch them at our leisure.
Liz had never seen any of the shows so we gave her ours to watch.

The sun came out later in the day and this afternoon I went out
and washed the Jeep.
I'm so glad I did that!!
I was just getting done when Liz drove up in her Jeep.
She had seen me washing mine and decided to wash hers too.
Together we got hers washed in no time.

Todays measuring cups are the ones I've had since we first got
married 52 years ago.
I'm pretty sure they were a present but can't remember who from.
They are copper and I've kept them nice a shiny all these years.

Happy Friday
I'm happy today - it's pizza day.
Thanks for stopping by.

A dollar

27 degrees this morning, calm with clouds and some sun.
Didn't see the skunk but sure did smell it.
To town and walking at 6:35
Sunrise 7:17

My usual walk up and down all the streets in town, the ball park loop
and both of the cemeteries.

The man who runs around the ball park was out running his laps.
First person I've seen out exercising is quite a while.
I did knew his name at one time but have forgotten it.
Runners don't usually like to stop and chat so we just say good morning
as we pass by.

Haven't found any coins for while when I've been out walking
and though I didn't find any coins today I found a dollar bill.
I turned the dollar into 4 quarters and put them in the glass bank.

Time to change the water filter today down in the basement.
We do it together so if I ever have to do it alone I know how to do it.
It gets changes about every 4 months.

My book club meeting was today but I didn't go this month.
Don't remember too much about the book because I read it a while ago.
The book is held over from the last month when the meeting was
cancelled because of the weather.

The measuring cups pictured today are ones I bought in June of 2017.
I got them at a store called Whispering Pines.
I met two blogger friends Dianna and Melanie there and we looked
around the store and had lunch.

Starting sewing the baby blanket together for this month.
Read and knitted some today too.

Thought briefly about going outside and washing my Jeep
but that's all I did - thought about it.
I'm probably going to be sorry I didn't take advantage of a sunny
afternoon that wasn't too cold.

That's it for now.
Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by.

Finished Puzzle

Another cold sunny morning for walking.
Got to town at 6:40
Sunrise 7:19
Temperature was 27 degrees
Morning Walk Steps 13,109

A walk all over town, up and down the main road, side streets,
the ball park loop and both cemeteries.

Lots of blue sky with little bits of puffy clouds.

The only person I saw was Kermit on his porch trying to get
mud off his shoes.

Looks like they are getting ready to make a driveway at the modular home.
Putting down lots of gravel.
Don't know if it will just be gravel or paved yet.

🌀    ❤️    πŸ˜€

Did the usual house chores around the house.

Finished the latest puzzle.
It was a fun one though a little bit of a challenge.
We will keep this one to do again some time.
We've done it once before back in 2020.
We turn our finished puzzles over and write on the back of them.

I downloaded a new operating system on my imac today.
It took quite a while but happy to report all went well.

Todays measuring cups are ones I've had for many years and the
ones I use most often.
I got them at a Tupperware Party when we lived in Puerto Rico
back in the late 70's.
I like these because they have a 3/4 cup and a 2/3 cup.

That's all for today folks.
Happy Wednesday and thanks for stopping by.

Measuring cups

21 degrees, calm, and clear.
At the end of my driveway a skunk lumbered across the street
and I saw 4 deer by the time I got to the main road.
In town and walking at 6:30 and sunrise was at 7:20.
Morning Walk Steps 13037

Walked through town and to the industrial park and walked around there.
Then around the ball park loop, through town and the cemetery up the hill.

Another sunny walk once the sun rose over the mountain.

Tractor bringing breakfast to the cows at the big barn.

These last few mornings have been great for walking.
Makes me happy for the whole day.

☀️    ❤️    πŸ˜€

Another load of laundry but this time I hung the clothes inside.
Did a few more chores around the house.

After lunch we had an appointment to go to and stopped at the
library on the way home.
Picked up a book for me that was on on hold and a couple of DVD's.

Don't have a lot of measuring cups but they say if you have
three of something it is a collection.

I like these because the first one is 1 1/2 cups and it is good
for melting butter in the microwave.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Tuesday

An unusual Nesting Doll

A frosty morning at 28 degrees.
To town and walking at 6:30 and sunrise was 7:21.
It was calm and clear and sunny once the sun came over the mountain.
Morning Walk Steps 13861

Walked up and down the main street in town and all the side streets.
Then around the ball park loop and both cemeteries.

The modular home across from the cemetery
still doesn't have any one living there.
With all the snow and cold during January they didn't get anything done.
Same thing with the two new houses I've been watching being built.

Nice to walk in the sun.

☀️    πŸ₯Ύ    πŸ€—

Though it was cold out, the sun was shining so I decided to hang
the sheets out on the line to dry this week.
When it's cold out they smell even better.

Ken asked if I would make some English Muffin Loaves
so I did that right after breakfast.

Finished making all the weave-it squares for the baby blanket
and now just have to sew them all together.

Worked on the puzzle more than I wanted to today!! 🧩

These nesting dolls are a bit different than the others.
The are china and there are only three.

Also different because they are measuring cups
using both the top and bottom half.

These were a gift from a blogger friend from years ago who no longer blogs.
She lived quite close to me when I lived down in Howard County
and the first blogger friend I met in person.

This may be the last set of my Nesting Dolls but the first
of the Measuring Cups that I have.
They will be my next series.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy Monday
