An unusual Nesting Doll

 A frosty morning at 28 degrees.

To town and walking at 6:30 and sunrise was 7:21.

It was calm and clear and sunny once the sun came over the mountain.

Walked up and down the main street in town and all the side streets.

Then around the ball park loop and both cemeteries.

The modular home across from the cemetery  

still doesn't have any one living there.

With all the snow and cold during January they didn't get anything done.

Same thing with the two new houses I've been watching being built.

Nice to walk in the sun.

Though it was cold out, the sun was shining so I decided to hang

the sheets out on the line to dry this week.

When it's cold out they smell even better.

Ken asked if I would make some English Muffin Loaves

so I did that right after breakfast.

Finished making all the weave-it squares for the baby blanket

and now just have to sew them all together.

Worked on the puzzle more than I wanted to today!! 🧩

These nesting dolls are a bit different than the others.

The are china and there are only three.

Also different because they are measuring cups

using both the top and bottom half.

These were a gift from a blogger friend from years ago who no longer blogs.

She lived quite close to me when I lived down in Howard County

and the first blogger friend I met in person.

This may be the last set of my Nesting Dolls but the first

of the Measuring Cups that I have.

They will be my next series.

A surprise book

 

25 degrees this morning and calm when I got to town and

started walking at 6:40.

Sunrise was at 7:23 it was sunny.

It's been a while since I walked in the sun and it sure was nice.

Walked to the post office first and mailed a few cards.

Walked all over town, both cemeteries and the. ball park loop.

Saw a couple of deer off in the woods by the ball park.

Went over to the barn to see the cows.

It is the time of year when the cows have their babies.

I spotted 12 of them this morning.

Here's some of them.

It is so much fun to watch them run around.

Still haven't seen any people out walking.

Ken and I both left the house at the same time this morning.

He went to the DG Market and

I went to the library to meet the ladies for stitching.

Six of us there today.

 Two were knitting

Two were crocheting

Two were doing embroidery 

I was knitting another sparkle scrubby.

At the library there were books wrapped in gift paper.

If you pick up one of these surprise books to read your name gets

put in a drawing and if your name is drawn at the end of the month

you get a $25 gift card to a book store.

This is the book I picked up.

I've read a couple of books by Rhys Bowen but not one of her mysteries.

I've been wanting to try one of her mysteries so looking forward to reading it.

Dianna - Yes, the same people who bought our house in town are still there.  I was sad to see that they got rid of my daisy garden down by the road and the cone flower garden up by the house. People used to stop and take pictures of the daisies.

Friday

A little misty rain this morning when I started walking in town at 6:40 

but it soon ended and was just cloudy.

35 degrees with a bit of wind.

Sunrise 7:24

Walked up and down the main road in town and the side streets.

Also up behind our old house.

Then it was around the ball park loop a couple of times

and a few times around the cemeteries.

Farmer Marvin driving by his truck stopped to say hi

and Bill and Greg (town workers) were picking up branches around by the pond.

Still didn't see any of the regulars out walking.

At the end of my walk I realized I didn't take any pictures.

Guess nothing caught my eye.

Didn't go shopping earlier this week so we drove on over to Walmart

and did our shopping there. 

Did one last house chore (cleaning the shower) for this week

and then had my usual afternoon

of knitting, reading, and puzzling.

Also made a couple weave-it squares for this months baby blanket.

Have had these for many years too but don't remember where I got them.

The tallest one is 7 inches and the smallest is 3/4 of an inch.

This one also says made in china.

Sunny afternoon

 Arrived at town 6:40 and started walking.

A few snow flurries at first and then cloudy.

33 degrees and windy.

Sunrise 7:25

Again it was to the library first to put a DVD down the drop.

Walked up and down the main street and a few side streets.

Then around both cemeteries.

Lastly I walked around the ball park a couple of times

and as I was walking back to the car I heard someone walking behind me.

Turned around and it was David. (son)

We walked back to the Jeep together.

He had driven his Jeep to the parking lot and then went walking to find me.

(I'm easy to spot with my dayglo green sweatshirt)

He had to leave his Jeep at a garage a couple miles outside of town

for an oil change and asked if I would follow him so he could drop it off

and drive him home.

Of course I said yes.

A lovely way to start the day - walking and seeing David! 🙂

   A usual day of house chores in the morning and time for

fun in the afternoon.

The sun even came out and we saw lots of blue sky.

That made for a happy change.

Number 2 Nesting Dolls.

I've changed my mind from yesterday when I said they were my favorite.

Todays are my favorite nesting dolls.

My daughter Debbi gave these to me many years ago for Christmas.

The bottom says they are made in China.

I like that each doll is holding a cat and the tiny last one is a cat.

 There are 10 dolls.

The largest is 8 inches tall and the smallest is just 3/4 inch tall.

Driving to town I saw a couple of deer.

No people about this morning and didn't even see any school buses.

Can't think why there would be no school today.

Walked to the library first again to drop off a book this time.

Then continued through town and over to the industrial park and made

a loop around there.

Back through town, down the main road toward home and finally

made my way to the lower cemetery.

It wasn't soggy so I could walk around it.

Nice to see KitCat out this morning.

It's been a while.

Walked up the hill to the other cemetery and went around there

a couple of times and that ended my walk.

I was occupied this morning doing house chores.

By the way I really like the scrubby dish cloth I knitted out of

the scrubby sparkle yarn.

It seems to give all the dishes and glasses and extra sparkle.

I suppose that could just be my imagination.🙂

After lunch we took our garbage to the dump.

Next we stopped in at the library to pick up a DVD.

More reading and knitting for me this afternoon.

I have a small collection of nesting dolls.

(five of them)

This first one is my favorite and has the most dolls.

On the bottom it says

Made in the USSR.

I bought it back in the 80's when we lived in Virginia 

at Spotsylvania Mall at a Kiosk.

There are 8 dolls.

The biggest is 7 inches tall

The smallest is very tiny at just under 3/4 of an inch.

Ginny - No, we didn't do anything special for our anniversary, but then again we think every day is a special one for us.
