Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A Big X

So nice to have it light in the morning when I walk again, at least for a little while.
Now if we could only leave the time alone!!!
On my way to town I saw 4 deer.
Started walking at 6:20 and sunrise was at 6:51.
Temperature was a nice 40 degrees.
Morning Walk Steps were 13,452.

It was light enough for me to start my walk going around both of the cemeteries.
Then made my way over to the ball park and walked around there and then continued all around town.

Saw the first Christmas lights up on a tree in someones yard!!!

This pine tree in the cemetery has a very strong pine smell and I love to smell it as I walk by.
I'm going to bring my clippers one of these days and cut a few sprigs off the bottom and put them in my house.

Lots of con trails in the sky this morning.
Here's a big X over my little town.

No one else out walking.
They missed out on some great walking weather!

๐Ÿ™‚         ๐Ÿšถ‍♀️         ๐ŸŒค         ๐Ÿฆƒ

Got a slow cooker of chicken going first thing for shredding.
That takes care of a few meals.

Weather great for hanging the sheets out on the line.
The white sampler square bedspread I knitted has been sitting in the cedar chest all summer and I put it outside to air it out.
That went on the bed for the winter.

Changed things around on my hutch.
Replaced the turquoise and ivory FiestaWare with the orange (red) and yellow.
The dining room windows got a cleaning too.

Did a little reading.
Have to read the book for the book club which meets this coming Thursday.

Have to go and get supper now.
Having some of the shredded chicken this evening in a bowl with rice, some veggies, and cheese. Ken likes to add salsa but I'm going to add some sweet and sour sauce to mine.

Friday was the 14th and last of the lighthouses that I have.
Here's one last picture of all of them on the window sill in our bedroom.

Happy Monday and I'm happy you stopped by.๐Ÿ˜€

GrannyM - Yes, they will have to put some kind of skirting around the bottom of the modular home and also insulate it.  If not the pipes would surely freeze with our cold winters.

Janice - I have a few knitting projects I'm working on at the moment. A scarf, mini prayer squares, and a blanket.
I'm sure you could walk as much as I do if you tried. ๐Ÿ˜€ I started walking for exercise when I was 37 and have been taking morning walks for 35 years and counting . . .

Inside the new house

Warmed up for my morning walk today.
It was 45 degrees.
Was at town and walking at 6:50 and sunrise was at 7:50.
It was cloudy with a few peeks of sun once in a while.

Finally saw another person walking around town - Rebecca.
Told her she was the first person I've seen out walking this week.

Walked all over town in no particular order, then the ball park and both cemeteries.

The door to the first new house doesn't have a door knob yet so I went inside to take a look.
The walls are framed out now.
I'm standing in the front corner taking the picture.
To the left is the utility room, a bathroom and a little bedroom down in the corner with a bathroom.
Bedroom 2 and 3 are very small and they are down on the right.
I'm standing in what must be the living room and kitchen/dining.
I bet when someone moves in after a while they turn the garage into a living or dining room.
We shall see.

Went to take a look at the modular home site.
Nothing else happening with the garage out back yet.

Morning Walk Steps were 13,329.

๐Ÿ™‚         ๐ŸŒฅ        ๐Ÿšถ‍♀️

Got one of my knitting projects together and went to the library for the Stitch in Time meeting.
Only three of us there but it is still nice to visit with them.

While at the library at was looking around and found two more books to check out.
In the lobby there were some books for sale so picked out 5 of them.
Each book was 10 cents!!!
Didn't have any change so gave Lori a dollar and told her to keep the change!! ๐Ÿ˜€

This afternoon I worked on the jigsaw puzzle for a little while.

Lighthouse Number Fourteen
Don't think this is any particular one.
It is bigger than the first ones like yesterdays.

Happy Saturday and Thanks for popping in for a visit.

Friday

I walked a bit later in the morning like I did yesterday.
To town and started walking at 7:20 and the sun rose at 7:47.
It was 30 degrees and calm.
So calm that the pond was like glass.
I know I take a lot of pictures of the pond but I just couldn't resist another one.

Walked through town and over to the DG Market and then walked on the road behind it to the end and back again.

From there I walked around the ball park.
No snow left but the frost almost looks like a dusting of snow.

Lastly I walked around the lower cemetery.

Once again I didn't see anyone else out walking.

What a beautiful morning for a walk.
Lots of sunshine.

๐Ÿ™‚         ๐Ÿšถ‍♀️         ☀️

Got the last bit of weekly housework done in the morning.

We went to library to pick up a DVD that we had on hold and picked up a few other DVD's to watch.
Sometimes we get lucky and get a good one.
Many times we watch the first 15 minutes and decide this is not for us.

David and Liz came by in the afternoon and we all had a piece of Ken's birthday cheese cake.  It sure was good.

Ken made us pizza for supper.
I made him cook even on his birthday,
Not really, it is what he wanted.

Later

I left a little later for my walk this morning than usual.
The sun was supposed to be out today and wanted to walk in the sun for a while instead of mostly in the dark.
So I got to town and started walking 7:20.
The sun came up at 7:46 so didn't have very long to wait to see the sun.
It was 22 degrees.
Morning Walking Steps 14,425

Even though I went later didn't see anyone else out walking.

Walked through town and around the ball park loop

and along the little trail behind the park.

Continued my walk around both of the cemeteries and then up and down main street and some of the side ones too.

Looks like the lot with the modular home has started on the garage that is going to be at the back of the lot.
Not sure yet if they will be building it or getting a ready made one delivered.

Saw a few frozen puddles.  Here's one I didn't step on! ๐Ÿ˜€

Don't these red berries stand out on the leafless bush!

Sure was nice walking in the sun, I may walk the same time tomorrow.
Can't do it on the days I have to go somewhere.

๐Ÿ™‚         ๐Ÿฅพ         ☀️

I baked a Cheesecake today.
Tomorrow is Ken's birthday and that is his choice of cake most years.
Fine with me because it sure is good!!!
I've had the recipe for years and years, one of the very few from my mother.
She didn't like to cook or bake so don't have many recipes from her.
The recipe is HERE.

I put the fringe on the scarf that I finished yesterday.
Next time we go shopping at Casselman's Market I'll bring it and give it to Donna.

No markings on this one and even though it looks slightly different from yesterdays I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be the same one.

The first jigsaw puzzle

Woke up to a little bit of snow on the ground.
I got to town and started to walk at 7:00.
It was 24 degrees with a breeze, wore layers and stayed warm.

In places it was pretty slippery for walking so my walking places were limited.
Ended up walking up and down part of the main street through town and turned around when it was slippery.
Walked up and down the road heading toward home two times because the shoulders of the road were not slippery.
It started snowing again while I was walking.

Ended up cutting my walk short and only walking 9,284 steps.

Some pictures along my way.

๐Ÿ™‚         ๐Ÿฅพ         ☁️         ๐ŸŒง

The first snow fall for us means getting started on the first jigsaw puzzle for the season.
We have started one with a fall scene and one which we have done before.
This year we aren't going to buy any new puzzles but just do the ones we have.
After we do it we will decide to keep it or give it away.

Unfortunately it was time for me to go back to the dentist today to get that back molar repaired.
It was a breeze though and I was in and out in 10 minutes.
I chose not to have it numbed since it was just a little thing so didn't have to wait for that awful numb feeling to go away.

Ken went in right after me to get his repaired and I walked over to the library to wait for him.
He had the same thing as me done and he too was in and out in 10 minutes.
I had just gotten to the library, started talking to a woman there and in popped Ken.

I finished knitting the scarf I've been knitting for Donna, the cashier at Casselman's. Just have to put the fringe on it.

Dianna - Casselman's is one of the places we go shopping and it is my favorite place to shop.  Other weeks we go to the Shop and Save and once in a while to Walmart.
Saturdays we usually make a stop at the DG Market.  Maybe we'll see you in Casselmans one of these days!!๐Ÿ˜€

GrannyM - Yes, we do go shopping with a list but always look for good deals that aren't on the list too.  I make a loosely meal plan for the week but rarely follow it.  Sometimes I just don't feel like eating what I had planned. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ellen - No, haven't visited the lighthouses that I've pictured but have visited a couple of lighthouses in Maine.

A cooler morning walk

Those 60 degree mornings I've been walking in the last few days have come to an end.
This morning when I walked it was 31.
Got to town and started walking at 6:30 in the dark.
Sunrise was at 7:44.

First walked to the library to drop off a book and a DVD down the slot and then continued to the DG Market where I turned around in the parking lot.
Went back through town, around the ball park and both of the cemeteries.

The builders are back to the first new house and finally putting up the interior walls.
They were working as I walked past so couldn't peek in the windows.

Didn't see anyone else out walking and not much happening around town this morning.

Once it started getting light it started to get a bit foggy.
It was a thin fog and through it saw some blue sky and clouds.

I couldn't decided which picture I wanted to post so heres all three of them.

Morning Walk Steps were 13,375

๐ŸŽƒ         ๐ŸŽƒ         ๐ŸŽƒ

This week we went over to Casselmans Market for our food shopping.
I started the shopping on my own while Ken went next door to the auto parts store to get some new hoses made up for the tractor.
He joined me when that was done.

This afternoon I enjoyed walking along some of the trails around Happy Trails.

Monday

Another warm morning with a temperature of 62 degrees and very windy.
On the way to town saw 4 deer this time.
I first see their shining eyes in the headlights of the car.
I was at town and stated walking at 6:30.
Sunrise was at 7:43 and it was cloudy.
The last mile of walking it started drizzling but I only got a bit damp.

Walked all around town under the street lights till it was kind of light.
Dropped off a couple of DVD's at the library book drop.
Continued walking around both of the cemeteries and the ball park.

Saw Joy out walking this morning.
Was nice to see her out again - has been a while so we stopped for a chat.

A woman was out walking her dog but didn't come near me.
Don't think the dog was friendly and she was avoiding people.

Time for getting the usual house chores started for the week during the morning.

Liz is in Florida visiting her daughter so we took David out for lunch at Brenda's for pizza.

It was a rainy afternoon and a good time to finish reading a book.

That's about it for today.
Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by.

Tom - Yes, that does look like a garage at the modular home but it is a window still covered up.  A garage is going to be built at the back of the lot.  Looks to me like it will be a tight squeeze back there.  Well, at least they won't have much grass to mow. :)

John - We sang In Times Like These yesterday in church. :)

60 degrees!

It was even warmer than yesterday when I started walking - 60 degrees!!!
It was a cloudy morning with a bit of a breeze.
Got to town and started walking at 6:35 and sunrise was at 7:41.
Morning Walk Steps 13,330

Walked through town over to the DG Market and turned around in the parking lot and then back through town up and down some side streets.
Continued around the ball park and the two cemeteries.

KitCat lives with two dogs and their owner was taking the dogs for a walk.
It always amazes me to see KitCat follow along and walks with them too.

A little more progress at the modular home site.
It now sits on the blocks.
I like the little porch in front.
I peeked in the side window and saw a kitchen on the far side and what will be the dining room or maybe the living room.
The back windows were too high for me to see into.

Went over to the big barn to see the cows.
Farmer Marvin was there and we talked a bit.
The cows here are heifers - the ones making all that noise last week.
They had just been taken out of the pasture away from their mothers and that is why they were making all that noise.
All these heifers were born here at the farm.

It felt like it would rain any moment but never did.

☁️         ๐Ÿ™‚         ๐Ÿฅพ          ๐Ÿ

We were eating breakfast when there was a knock at the door.
Our neighbor had baked a pound cake and gave us half of it.
I took a little piece to taste and it was delicious.
Going to have a piece this evening for my snack along with a scoop of ice cream.

I gathered up one of my knitting projects and headed off to the library for a morning of knitting.
There were 5 of us there this morning.
The little boy James never did show up again.

This afternoon I got some reading in.
Supper is going to be home made pizza which Ken is making now as I type this.

Happy Saturday and thanks so much for stopping by.

Dianna - Ken and I will deliver a trailer load of 20,000 Romans books (Spanish) back to Bedford, PA to Beacon of Truth who in turn distributes them to missionaries who will hand them out.  In the inside cover it has the plan of salvation. When we drop off the books we will then get 20,000 more scriptures to bring back to church to assemble and it happens all over again.
Ken and have been involved with this ministry for 10 years now.

The modular home has arrived

Was surprised how warm it was this morning - 58 degrees!!!
Started walking around town at 6:30 and the sun didn't rise till 7:40 and when it did it was cloudy.
Saw 6 deer on my way to town, 2 on my road, 2 more on another road, and 2 more crossing the road just as I got to town.

Walked all over town and both cemeteries and the ball park.
Didn't see anyone else out waking.

The corn did not get cut down yesterday as I thought but the modular home was delivered in two pieces

Morning Walk steps were right at 12,000.
Couldn't get any more in because I had to get home.

Thought these scarecrows were cute.

☁️         ๐Ÿฅพ         ๐Ÿ         ๐Ÿ™‚

Just had enough time when I got back from walking to get changed and eat breakfast and then we were off to get some more work done at church on the Fingerprint Ministry.
We worked from 9:00 to 12:30 along with about a dozen others.
Today combined with yesterdays work we finished over 9,000 Romans books.  All put together, stapled, cut, and boxed up.
Like yesterday I worked the cutter.

On the way home we stopped at the library so I could pick up the biography of Harriet Tubman.

Didn't even get to make our bed this morning so did that as soon as got back home.
I ALWAYS make our bed.
I can probably count the number of times I did NOT make my bed on my one hand.

That's all for today.

Work Day

A nice clear morning with no wind.
44 degrees when I started walking at 6:30.
Sunrise was at 7:39 and it was nice and sunny.
Morning Walk Steps 14,158

Walked all around town, both cemeteries and the ball park.
Went down the the road toward home a ways and then back to town.

Saw deer again on my way to town and later while walking saw a fox run across the road right in front of me.

Finally saw someone else out walking, John and his dog Prim.
Saw them far away so we just waved.

The 4 holes at the modular home site have been filled with concrete.
Ann - The concrete filled holes are the foundation for the home. I think they will put cinderblock on the concrete and then set the house on those.

The corn is really dried out now and I wouldn't be surprised if it was all cut down today.
Guess it had gotten too wet with all the rain we had and had to dry out again.

Another great morning for walking.
Just love these crisp fall mornings.

๐Ÿ™‚        ๐Ÿ         ๐Ÿฅพ         ☀️

It was a Fingerprint Ministry work day at church.
About 20 people came and went during the time we were there.
We worked from 12:00 to 5:30.
I mostly worked on the cutter.
5,000 Roman's books are ready for shipping.
Work will continue this evening for a while yet and we will be back again tomorrow morning.

Nice to be home now for a little relaxation.
Looking forward to my ice cream snack.
Lately I've been having Turkey Hill Chocolate Chip mint.

Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by.

Purple Skies

Was out at town and walking at 6:25 and watched the sun rise at 7:37.
47 degrees this morning and when the sun was up there was a mix of sun and clouds.
Morning Walk Steps were 13,120.
This was my last walk wearing my currant walking shoes, they are now officially retired, start out with a new pair tomorrow.

Under the street lights, walked up and down main street in town a couple of times.
When light enough walked over to the industrial park and had this beautiful sky to walk under.
Wow it was spectacular in person.

Back through town to finish my walk.

No one else out again, at least no one that I saw.

No modular house yet and now there are an additional 4 more holes dug.

Didn't see any deer on my way to town but on the way home saw the twin fawns, and they sure are getting big!

๐Ÿ™‚         ๐Ÿฅพ         ๐ŸŒค         ๐Ÿ

Did a bit of work around the house in the morning.

Last night we watched the movie, Harriet.
It was about Harriet Tubman and was very good!!
What a remarkable women she was!!!
There is a biography of her life in the library, The Road to Freedom by Catherine Clinton that I've put a hold on and look forward to reading.

Each blanket is given with a card and an invitation to visit our church.

More Sun

37 degrees when I got to town and started walking.
Saw a few deer on my way to town.
Another clear morning like yesterday and sunrise was at 7:36.
About 7:00 the sky gets a glow and then I can see without walking under the street lights in town.

Had my usual walk all around town, the cemeteries and the ball park.

Once again I didn't see any people out walking but KitCat was out and came over to see me.

The tarp is now gone from the lot getting the modular home.
It was just covering up the concrete filled holes.
Guess the tarp kept it from becoming too muddy.
I keep walking by expecting to see the house there or a least part of it.

Morning Walk Steps were 12,849

๐Ÿ™‚         ๐Ÿฅพ         ๐Ÿ        ☀️

We had to go down to Oakland for an appointment this morning and since we were down that way decided to go shopping at Walmart this week.
Saw a woman from my book club there and a couple minutes later I saw Trish, a friend from church.
Most times we are at Walmart we see someone we know!

These are the colors I'm using for the next baby blanket for November.

A sunny day today and by afternoon the temperature was in the mid 70's!!!
Hard to believe this morning it was 37!!!
I got to sit on the front porch and read for a while.
