Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Robin

25 degrees this morning, mostly sunny, and and no wind.
Nice walking weather.

Noticed the geese are back around the little pond in town.
They are across the pond so you might not be
able to see them unless you enlarge the picture.

Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park, and all around town up
and down all the side roads.

Up by the cemetery I saw two raccoons running across the field.
The sun was just coming up so I guess they were hurrying to get
back home.  They are nocturnal and I know to stay away
from them if they are out in the day.

This morning was the first time heard the morning birds chirping.
Not a very good picture but it is of the first Robin I've seen.
A sure sign that spring is not far behind.

Saw on older man out walking who I've never seen before.

Walked 6 miles

🌤    🥾    😊

Another Monday that I could put the sheets out on the line to dry.

We went to the dump and then on to church.
The cutter is broken that we use for Fingerprints and Ken
is trying to fix it.
This was his second attempt.
He's got one other thing to try before he gives up.

Had a couple of errands to and then it was back home again.

That's it for today.
A happy Monday to you. 🙂
Thanks for visiting.

Sunday

A cold (20 degrees) but sunny walk this morning. 😃

Happy Sunday
A sunset from this past week.

📖    📖    📖

Some of the gravestones have Bible verses written on them.

Here are a couple of them.

 I Thessalonians 5:17

 Pray without ceasing.

Psalm 23

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.

 He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Psalm 116:15

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Psalm 66:16

Come and hear, all ye that fear God,
and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

A Blessed Sunday to all. 🙂

Saturday

19 degrees, breezy, with snow showers this morning when walking.
Snow showers are better than rain - at least I don't get wet.

Walked all around town, both cemeteries and the ball park.

There were just a few places where it was icy.
Here's one of them.

The trail behind the ball park.

Near the end of my walk the snow stopped and little blue sky appeared.

Didn't see any other people walking or even anyone else out
and only saw a few cars.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🌨    🌥    🥾    😊

Though it did stay cold it was so nice to have a sunny day.

David and Liz came over this afternoon and we played

They stayed for supper too and I made

Anni, sorry I forgot to answer your question about pancakes.
I made Buttermilk Pancakes from scratch but when I'm lazy I use Bisquick.

Ginny - The bulls live about 2 1/2 miles from my house (One as the crow flies) and they are down past one of the cemeteries.  There are 39 bulls there now and are mostly sold and will be going to their new farms in the spring.
I walk down this road to see them most mornings.

Friday

No snow for us but we got the ice and wind.
An icy mess this morning so my walking was done inside.
No walking pictures today but here's another one of the
bulls from yesterday.

Got the rest of the housework done for this week first thing.

Made a yellow cake.
Nothing fancy, just a box cake, but still good.
Going to have some later with strawberries and Redi Whip.
(taking a break from ice cream today)
😊

Not much happening around the house today.
It's been a dreary kind of day so did fun stuff
around the house this afternoon.

Hope your Friday is a happy one. 😊
Thanks for stopping by.

SusanQ - The plaque you see in yesterdays picture is a grave marker.  I took the picture from the back of the cemetery on top of the hill.
You may think you don't walk far but 2 miles is still a good walk.  I don't think how many miles you walk is the important thing, but that you get out there and walk!!

Another puzzle done

Back to normal at 25 degrees this morning when I walked.
Didn't see the sunrise at 6:56 because it was cloudy.
No wind.

Very quiet around town - seemed more like a Sunday.
Must not have been school today because didn't see any buses.

Dropped another book down the book slot at the library.
That was the last book, now waiting for the next books to arrive
at the library that we reserved.

Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park and up and down
the streets in town.

Some of the bulls were still sleeping in the hay.
One couldn't even be bothered to pick up his head. 🙂

Didn't see anyone else out walking.

This is a first for me to see while walking - forks.

Walked a tad over 6 miles

☁️    🥾    😊

I made us strawberry pancakes for breakfast.
That is my favorite breakfast.
No, I take that back, chocolate chip pancakes are.
I should have put both, strawberries AND chocolate chips in.
Will do that next time. 😊

Finished the puzzle.
This was a fun one and pretty easy.

I bought a poinsettia back in November.
Have had them before but they always died.
This one seems to be still doing fine and even getting more red leaves.
At the same time I bought one for Liz too and her's died long ago.

Didn't really get much work done but it was a good day doing
fun stuff.

Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Thursday. 😊

A warm start

When I walked this morning it was a warm 51 degrees,
cloudy and very windy.
The kind of wind that pushes you along when walking or
makes you take a step backward when a gust comes up behind.
Don't know why but it always makes me laugh.

Had my usual walk all around town, both cemeteries and the ball park.

Saw a few people out walking on this warm windy day.
A new woman who I've not seen before.
The woman who walks her dog around the town pond.
Margaret
I've mention the nice young woman who is a bit slow and walks with
her mom or dad once in a while.  She was walking with her dad this
morning and we stopped to talk.  Learned that her name is Anna and her
dad is Mark.  Nice to finally know their names.

Saw another skunk, have seen a lot of skunks lately,
a couple rabbits and a few cardinals.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    💨    🥾    😊

Got my housework out of the way for the day and
then worked on the latest puzzle.

We had some fog today but then that gave way to
some sunshine though the wind stayed with us.
By supper time it was back to being cloudy
and the temperature was 30 degrees.

Easy supper today.
Frozen pizza that we made last week.

A happy Wednesday to you. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.

Rainy Walk

On the way to town there was a skunk that just got
hit by a car and I just missed driving over it.
Not a pleasant smell.
Was to town and walking at 6:30 and the temperature was 44 degrees.

Wasn't raining when I left but it was predicted so took along
my umbrella.  Left it in the Jeep and walked over to the
library and dropped a book down the book drop.

Continued to the cemetery on the hill.
Like the lighting with the sun shining on the hill.
That only lasted for a short time though.

I saw a rainbow and did take a picture but it didn't show up
so good in the picture.

By this time the rain started and I went back to the Jeep
and got my umbrella.  Never rained hard and there was no wind
so I stayed pretty much dry.

Walked around town, the ball park and ended my walk
around the lower cemetery.

Rebecca was out running this morning.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🌨    🥾    😊

Tuesday came around quick and it was grocery shopping time once again.
Didn't need much so that went pretty quickly.

We went for a little ride this afternoon.

The rest of the day just had one of those puttering about the house days.
Nice to be in the house reading and making some weave-it squares.
I have 30 squares done already for the next blanket.

Hope you all enjoyed your Tuesday. 🙂

Monday

Drove to town and when I started walking it was 33 degrees.
There was no wind and sunrise was at 7:00.
No clouds in the sky so it was a beautiful sunny morning.

Walked all over town, both cemeteries and the ball park loop.

Stopped at the library and dropped off two books down the book slot.

I watched Farmer Marvin and Austin putting hay out for the bulls.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.
By the time I got back to the Jeep to head home the temperature
had jumped up to 48 degrees.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🥾    😃

I wash the sheets on Mondays.

So nice outside that I got to hang the sheets outside on the line to dry.

🧺    🧺    🧺

Got a good start on the house cleaning for the week.

Haven't see the deer out back for a while but today we
had 6 of them wander around out back.
They ate and then took a nap up against the fence I made.
We spent a good amount of time watching them.

Started another puzzle.
This one called
Home Cooking
and we've done it before.

Like most days I read for a while this afternoon.

That's all I have for today.

A windy walk

22 degrees this morning when I walked and it was very windy.
It was mostly cloudy but the as the sun rose the sky
turned a pretty pink for a few minutes before it was all cloudy.

Walked all over town and around the ball park.

Went around the lower cemetery but stayed away from the one on
top of the hill because it gets really windy up there.

Didn't see any people out but did see a rabbit scurrying about.

Took another progress picture of the twin houses being built in town.

Just as I was getting back to the Jeep I started seeing the
first snow flurries and by the time I was home driving up the driveway
it looked like a blizzard.
Made it home just in time.

Walked 6.2 miles

☁️    🥾    💨    🌨

Snowed on and off till afternoon but had no accumulation.
It was very windy and just blew the snow all around like yesterday.

A nice day around the house.
Really didn't do much of anything.

Book Revealed

It turned cold overnight and the rain turned to snow in the morning.
It was 22 degrees and very windy but I got bundled up
and drove to town anyway.

The road to town was fine but when I parked and got out of the Jeep I
saw that there was a thin coating of ice covering the parking lot
and sidewalks.  I'm sure the side roads wouldn't be so great for
walking either so I got back in the Jeep and went home again.

My walking got done inside today.

🌨    💨    😊

Just did the very basic house chores today.

I unwrapped the book last night and started reading it this afternoon.
Valentine Murder by Leslie Meier

The new librarian is found dead at the bottom of the
stairs going down to the lower level of the library with
a bullet in her heart.

So far I'm liking it just fine.
I've never read any of her books.
This book is the fifth one in a very long series.
Oh no, another book series to add to my list.

Spent a good amount of time reading today.

Started the baby blanket for March.
Doing your idea Anni, of making a striped blanket.
It will be 7 different colors in 10 strips.

The snow didn't amount too much more that a dusting.
With it being so windy it just blew the snow all around.

❤️ Happy Friday ❤️

Even Warmer

This morning when I went walking it did feel like spring.
44 degrees!!
It was cloudy and breezing but still 44 is warm for this time of year.

Saw the skunk again today on my way to town.

Walked all around town and both cemeteries.
Even the ball park loop is clear of snow now.

The ice is starting to melt on the town pond.
Liked the reflections.

I saw Joy walking but was too far away to say hi.
Would have walked over her way but was just finishing my walk
and had to be home so I could go out this morning.

Walked my usual 6 miles

☁️    🥾    🙂    ☁️

Left this morning to go to church for a Blankets for Babies
work day.

Sandy brought breakfast and Marilyn gave the devotional
before we started making blankets.
There were 8 of us today.
I'm the only one who makes weave-it blankets.
The other women make blankets out of fleece.
Here's the table with all the material.
People pick out what they want to work with.

On the way home I stopped at the library to pick up a DVD
that Ken had reserved.
I noticed there were books set out wrapped in paper,
with a line or two from the book, and a candy taped to it.
When you pick out a book to read your name goes on a list
and if your name is picked you get a gift certificate to a local book store.
This is the book I picked.
I will unwrap the book later and tell you the title tomorrow.

It started raining on the drive home so that took care of the rest
of the snow except for piles of it here and there from the snow plows.

That's it for today.
Thanks so much for poppin' in for a visit.

Warmer

The 27 degree temperature this morning when I walked
seemed almost warm.
There was a slight breeze and it was sunny.
By the time I got back to the car after my walk it was already 38
and I had taken one of my sweatshirts off a mile before.

Saw a couple of deer up in the field on my way to town,
and a little farther down the road I saw a
skunk waddle across the road.

Walked first to the post office and put a couple cards
down the mail slot.

Continued my walk all around town and both of the cemeteries.
The ball park loop is still ice and snow covered.

Down by the town pond I saw a Killdeer.

No frost on the bulls today - they were all happily eating.

Some pictures I took walking along.

Yes, I did knock some of the icicles down after taking the picture.

Walked 6 miles

A Cold Walk 🥶

7 degrees this morning when I got up so started walking
in the basement.
I usually don't go walking outside when it is single digits but
didn't feel like walking in the basement so decided to go to town
and walk the other 4 miles outside.
The sun was out and there was no wind so that helped a little.
I put vaseline on my cheeks and that works quite well.
It was cold though! 🥶
My upper body was fine but my legs after a while felt numb.

Walked mostly around the cemetery on top of the hill because
it was in the sunshine.
Here comes the sun now popping over the mountain.

Walked up and down a couple of the side streets as well.

The poor bulls were covered in frost.
I told them to go into the barn but they didn't listen.
I guess they were like me and just wanted to be outside.

Haven't taken a picture of the Drane house in a while.

As you can imagine I didn't see anyone else out walking.
Usually when I get back home from walking the house seems
way too hot - not so today - it felt wonderfully warm.
Don't think I'll be walking in single digits again any time soon.

☀️    🥶    🥾

Food shopping day - first stop the Dollar General.
We seem to be getting more and more of our food there.
What we can't get there we continue on to the Shop and Save
and get the rest.
Dollar General does not sell produce or meat.

I don't care for the shopping part and Ken does.
He doesn't like putting anything away once we get home
and that's the part of shopping I like.

I learned about Wordle from other bloggers and have been
enjoying it for the past few days.
How many of you have been doing it?

I got more reading and knitting done this afternoon
and tried hard not to eat any more of those heart cookies from yesterday.
Guess I didn't try hard enough because I ate 2 of them.

That's it for today

A busy day

It was snowing again this morning and 7 degrees so started
my walking inside and walked 2 miles.

I made pancakes for breakfast and colored the batter red
for Valentine's Day.

Got the sheets off the bed washed and put on the drying rack.
Then went outside to shovel the driveway.
The snow had stopped but started again after I got done
shoveling the driveway.

Since I was already outside bundled up decided to go walking.
Went up and down the lane a couple of times.

After a while it stopped snowing and the sun came out.

Between shoveling and walking got all my miles in for the day.

While out walking I saw David and Liz come down the lane on
their way to work.
Stopped to say hi and they said they would stop by this
afternoon after work.

Back inside I made some heart shaped Sugar Cookies
and after lunch made Royal Icing and iced them.

I've had a busy day and it was nice to sit by the glass doors
and knit for a little while
till David and Liz came by for a little visit.
They enjoyed a few cookies
and went home with a few more.

Topped off the day by making home made pizza for supper.
It's been a very good day.

Joy

 Happy Sunday

A sunrise from this past week.

📖    📖

Philippians 4:4

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

Psalm 100:2

Serve the Lord with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.

🎶    🎶

🎶 Joy In Serving Jesus 🎶

There is joy in serving Jesus,
As I journey on my way,
Joy that fills the heart with praises,
Ev'ry hour and ev'ry day.

There is joy in serving Jesus,
Joy that triumphs over pain,
Fills my soul with heaven's music,
Till I join the glad refrain.

There is joy in serving Jesus,
As I walk alone with God.
'Tis the joy of Christ, my Savior,
Who the path of suffering trod. [Refrain]

There is joy in serving Jesus,
Joy amid the darkest night.
For I've learned the wondrous secret,
And I'm walking in the light.

Refrain:

There is joy, joy,
Joy in serving Jesus,
Joy that throbs within my heart;
Ev'ry moment, ev'ry hour,
As I draw upon His power,
There is joy, joy,
Joy that never shall depart.

Saturday

When I walked this morning it was 33 degrees
with light snow flurries and a little wind.
Sunrise 7:12

A walk through town and up and down the side streets.
Then headed over to the industrial park.
Passed our house we lived in when we lived in town.
I've stopped feeling bad about all my gardens the new people ripped out.

Walking down into the industrial park.
The road on the right is the parking lot into the Dollar General.

After walking all around the industrial park I walked down this road
to the end where there is a circle and walked back again.
It is between the main road and the industrial park.
Nice road to walk down with the gentle rolling grade.

Pretty quiet around town on this early Saturday morning
but I did see Rebecca out running.

Getting back to the parking lot a woman had just parked at the
church and asked me if it wasn't too icy to be out walking.
I told everything was just wet and not slippery at all.

Walked 6 miles

We got the slow cooker filled with chili ingredients first thing
after breakfast so supper was taken care of.
I browned the ground beef and the hot pork sausage and Ken cut
