Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Saturday

More fog this morning but not like yesterday and it didn't
last very long.

It was 63 degrees and when the fog left it was a mix of sun and clouds.

First walked over to the post office and mailed a card.
Then headed over to the industrial park and walk all around there.

Last place I walked was around the lower cemetery.

The property that runs along the side of the cemetery where I thought
they were going to build a garage,
looks like it is going to be a pole barn.

Very quiet around town and didn't see anyone at all.

Stitching day at the library.
There were 5 of us there.
Took the extra needles but no one could use them so brought
them back home again.
They don't take up much room so I'll just keep them.
I have so many needles because most of them belonged to
my mother and the case was hers too.

I was sitting around deciding what I wanted to do when I remembered
about the second batch of Snickerdoodle cookies I had to bake
for tomorrow so that's what I did.

We had some strong winds and thunder storms pass through
this afternoon and more are supposed to be on the way.

Happy Saturday and I'm glad you stopped by.

Comment Replies:
Rose - I guess it wasn't that I didn't like the needles I just had too many.  I do prefer knitting with circular needles because you can't lose a needle.🙂

Foggy Walk

62 degrees this morning for walking and pretty foggy out there too.
By the end of my walk the fog was gone and it was sunny.

Walked all around town up and down all the side streets,
both of the cemeteries and the ball park loop too.

Took LOTS of foggy pictures.
It was hard to narrow them down to these.

Saw a runner,
Carmen walking with a friend,
and Rebecca.

This wet spot looked like a dog head to me.
Ken added that it was looking at a T-Bone.

🌫    🌤

We ended up getting a LOT of rain last evening!!

I've been wanting to go through and organize my knitting needles
and I finally got that done today.
First I put them all out on the floor.
Then put everything in order by sizes.

Next I went through it all and got rid of the ones I didn't need or
want anymore which are the things in the top of the picture.

Then put the ones l was keeping in the case by size.
Circular needles all in the tote box.

Now everything is in order and neatly in the case and tote.

The needles I don't want I'll bring tomorrow to the library and see
if anyone from the stitching group can use any of them.

Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by.
HappyK 🙂

Diana - Not a bike lane just nice wide shoulders.

Ginny - Don't really have a recipe for tuna/chicken casserole. Just a can of chicken,
with a little mayo and melted Velveeta cheese.  Cooked pasta shells get added to the mixture.  Some shredded cheddar is put on the top with some bread crumbs and then baked till hot.  I never measure anything just eye it from making is for so many years.🙂

Another pretty sunrise

A warm morning with a temperature of 67 degrees.
It was a cloudy morning with no breeze.

Another pretty sunrise to look at as I walked around the lower cemetery.

Walked around the other cemetery and then over to the ball park
to walk that loop a couple of times.

Going past the fire house I noticed the all the paving
of the parking lot and out back has been finished.

Walked through town going up and down all the side streets
and then headed down the main road towards home and then
back to town again.

Nice walking along the main road because I'd get a nice breeze
when the cars drove by and a really BIG breeze from the big trucks.

Saw a couple of rabbits in the cemetery.
Didn't see anyone out walking.

The rain stopped last night before I had to leave for church so I went after all.
We are studying Joseph who is one of my favorite
men of the Bible so didn't want to miss it.
Our Pastor really goes into detail and I learn so much.

After breakfast this morning we did our food shopping at WallMart.
Lowe's is just down the road from there so we stopped in there too.

I was going to buy a bottle of nail polish but just couldn't
make myself pay 7 - 9 dollars for a little bottle.
I'll check out the DG Market here in town.

By the time we were back home the cloudy day was gone and we had a sunny one.
Another nice afternoon for sitting on the front porch.

The wind picked up and we heard thunder but it only rained
for about a minute.

Supper today was roasted vegetables and sausage.
We eat this quite often and is one our favorites.

Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by.

Comment Replies:
GrannyM - The ice cream flavors we bought today are my favorites, Mint Chocolate Chip and the Triple Chocolate.  The two that Ken picked out are Black Cherry and Chocolate. Turkey Hill brand.

Wednesday

65 degrees this morning and another sunny walk
once the sun came over the mountain.

Walked around town up and down all the street,
both the cemeteries and the ball park loop.

John and Prim were out walking.
The man who walks the dog and his three kids were out walking
but only with the dog and the baby.
We stopped for a little chat but still don't know his name.

The side of the firehouse that is gravel and part of the back
is getting paved today.
There was a half dozen trucks lined up down the road ready to get to work.

Noticed some leaves starting to turn color.

Took advantage of this sunny day and did another load of laundry.

Baked a batch of
Snickerdoodle Cookies for the Sunday school kids.
One batch is not quite enough so will make some more this week.

Happy to spend some more time on the cross stitch.

I made tuna casserole for supper this evening.
I say tuna but now I use canned chicken.

Having some rain coming through now.
Think I won't go to church tonight.
I don't mind driving in the dark or in the rain,
but not both.

That's all for today.
Happy Wednesday and thanks for stopping by.

Foggy Start

It was pretty dark and foggy when I left for town this morning.
Getting to the end of my road here.
A left here takes me to the main road and then another left
turn takes me to town.

The temperature was 64 degrees and no wind.
The sun eventually chased away the fog.

Headed over to the library first thing to drop off a book and DVD.
Then walked to the Farm Loop road which starts at the school.

🌱    🌱

Tom, the yard with the brown grass never did turn green.
Guess it wasn't that Zoya grass that Ken thought it was.

🌱    🌱

Didn't walk around the whole loop but turned around here
at the intersection and went back the way I came.

It was so nice and peaceful walking along the road that I didn't want
to hit the main road so stayed on the peaceful road.

School for the kids start next week but the teachers are there this week.
One of the teachers was having some trouble getting
a book case moved from her car to the school
so I stopped to help her.

Once I got back to the Jeep still had a few steps to take
so walked around the lower cemetery.

Lumber was getting delivered to the cleared spot where
I think a garage is going to be built.

Didn't see anyone else out, but then I don't usually walking up this way.

Got the rest of this weeks house work done this morning.

Wanted to get my work finished in the morning so I could spend
some time on the cross stitch.
I worked on that till my eyes went crosseyed.
Then went and sat at on the front porch
and ended up reading.
Have to get all the porch sitting time in while the weather is nice!

We missed our homemade pizza last Friday so we
had that for supper this evening.
Still no ice cream so we'll have another piece of the spice cake.

That's it for today
Thanks for stopping by

A Busy Day, Pink Peep Monday

63 degrees this morning for walking.
Got to town at 6:20 and sunrise was 6:40.
Once the sun came over the mountain it was a sunny walk.
No breeze to speak of.

First walked up and down the main street in town and most of the side streets.
Then it was around both of the cemeteries and the ball park.
One last time up and the main road and that gave me enough steps.

Saw John and Prim walking when I first got to town
and later on saw Carmen walking.

The main road in town had a flag man and one way traffic.
The road is cut up getting work done on the water pipes.
Glad we have our own well so don't have to worry about the
water being turned off.

Also work continues putting siding on the antique shop in town.

Looks like they forgot to put their toys away last night!!

Sheets got washed, hung out and back on the bed by early afternoon.
Did one more load of laundry too.

Put a few bags of garbage in back of the truck and took it to the dump.

After lunch I got some house cleaning done.

We ran out of ice cream and don't have anything for a snack tonight
so I baked a spice cake.
It was just from a box but I made the Cream Cheese Icing.

Finished reading The United State of Trump by Bill O'Reilly.
Good book - O'Reilly does a good job of separating
fact from lies and fiction.
The book was written back in 2019 when Trump was president.

Even found a little time to work on my counted cross stitch.

This week Pink Peep is having a chat with umbrella girl.

Supper tonight was hot ham and cheese in burrito shells.

When I get done here Ken will be giving my hair a trim.

That's all I've got for today.
Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by.

Missing Zoey

54 degrees this morning when I arrived in town for my walk.
It was very pleasant walking weather with a mix of sun and clouds.

Walked up the hill to the school and walked up and down the
path behind the school.
The gravel path could use a bit of weeding but it was nice walking on.

Stopped by the sheep to say hi.
They were inside and when I called they came out to see me.

Walked back down to town and over to the DG Market.
Continued back through town and up a few side streets, a lap aroumd
the ball park, and then one of the cemeteries.

While I was walking a man in a pickup truck stopped and said I know
you walk all over town and was wondering if you have seen
a little black bull dog.
He said he had a sad little 4 year old at home who was missing her.
Told him sorry I didn't but would keep a lookout for her.
The dogs name is Zoey.
I walked behind the ball park where he couldn't drive his truck but
had no luck in finding her.
I saw Rebecca walking and she said she'd keep a lookout for her too.

Then sadly I left and went back home.

Went to the library this morning to meet with the stitching ladies.
Only 3 of us there again but had a good time.
I was telling them about the missing dog Zoey when Debbie said she heard
that the dog had been found and was happy at home again.🙂

Another good day for sitting on the porch.
I didn't quite finish the baby blanket this morning at the library
so knitted the last row and then finished it off.
Nice to have a project done.
I have no specific person to give it to so just put it aside for now.

Happy Saturday and thanks for stopping by.

Rose - The goal is to do 100,000 total books for the year.  In years past we have done 60,000 which was our goal back then.  Last year we did over 70,000 so just raised the goal to 100,000. Me personally I'm not that concerned about the goal, but just to do as many as we can.

Old Milk Can Tractor Seat

It was 46 degrees this morning and once the sun was up it was sunny.
Another nice walk all around my town.

Went up and down all the streets in town, the ball park
and one of the cemeteries.

No people out that I saw this morning.

The antique shop in town is getting a face lift.
It will look so much nicer with the white siding than the gray
painted siding.

Haven't seen the geese family for quite awhile now.
They are off to destinations unknown.

Fingerprints again at church this morning.
We quit at noon today.
Not a good turn out again today but we managed to get another 3,000 books done.
So for both days we finished a little over 6,000.
For most of the morning there was just 5 of us there.

A nice sunny afternoon and I sat out on the porch and knitted.
Working on a small blanket and will probably finish it
tomorrow at stitching time at the library.
Watched a few deer wander around in the front.

GrannyM this picture is for you.
This is the old milk can that my step dad put an old tractor seat on.
I need to take the peeling black off and repaint it.

Ellen - I know of 5 other churches that do Fingerprints.  They call it Scripture Assembly.  Our Pastor named it Fingerprints because we all put our fingerprints all over the books. There are many churches from many states that participate in the ministry.

Work Day

47 degrees this morning when I arrived in town for my walk.
Started out a little foggy but soon the sun came out
and I got to walk once again in the sunshine.

Walked through town and behind our old house and then
over to the DG Market and walked the road behind the store.
Back through town and up and down all the side streets.
Continued walking around both of the cemeteries.
Had all my steps in before I got to walk around the ball park.

I saw the woman walking who usually walks two dogs
but she was alone this time.
Was going to stop and introduce myself but she turned off
before I got to her.

As I was walking through town Ken passed me in the truck
going to G&W, the lumber yard in town.
He tooted at me as he passed by. 🙂

Modern gas station on the left
very old one on the right.

Fingerprint work day at church today.
Seems like we just did this a week ago and here a month has already gone by.
A couple people are sick and others are out of town so there wasn't
a very good turnout and we only got 3,000 books done.
There is another work day tomorrow, maybe we'll get a better turnout.

Gravel Weeding

A chilly start to the day at 43 degrees but good walking weather.
Diving to town this morning.

Arrived in town and started walking at 6:20 and sunrise was 6:35
and sunny once it came over the mountain.
No wind to speak of.

Walked right through town and over to the DG Market
and went up and down the road behind it.
Then back to town and behind our old house in town.
A couple of times around the ball park loop and then both of the cemeteries.

I saw John walking Prim and he stopped me and asked if my feet
ever hurt when I walk and told him no.
He asked me what shoes I wear because his makes his feet hurt.
I might have made another Keen shoe convert. 🙂

When my walk ended the temperature was 49 degrees.

Put sausage in the crock pot this morning with pasta sauce.

This afternoon I repotted a plant.
Then I spent a couple of hours outside weeding the gravel around the house.
I usually keep up with it pretty good but had let it go.
It was breezy and in the mid 60's so good weather for outside work.
Sat out on the front porch to get cool and then headed inside
and worked on the cross stitch for a little while.

Supper tonight was the sausage on hot dog rolls
and we had coleslaw along with it.
And now I'm off to church in just a bit for Wed prayer meeting.

Happy Wednesday and thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday

52 degrees this morning when I got to town at 6:25.
Saw a few peeks of sun but it was mostly cloudy.
Sunrise was 6:34 but here is the sun coming over the mountain at 7:05

Started my walk going to the post office to mail a card
and then to the library to drop off a book.

Started walking up the road to the school but then turned off
and walked through the barnyard and went the back way to the cemetery.

One of the horses came over to see what I was doing.
Poor thing has all burrs in his mane and tail.
Looks like he has curly hair till you get a closer look.

Walked around both of the cemeteries and then all over town.
Ended up by the DG Market where I turned around and
then went to the ball park.
My wrist vibrated and that signaled it was time to head back to the Jeep.

You don't want to mess with the dog that lives here.  🐕 🙂

Dianna - Ken will make a frame for the cross stitch when I get it done.  I'm giving it to our Pastor and his wife Kathy.  Standing on His Promises is our church theme this year and I just thought the cross stitch would be perfect to give them.

Debby - Pink Peep wasn't sitting by Santa but by Mr. Snowman and he stays out all year.  I don't put out Christmas decorations till the first or second week in Dec.

Rose - Yes, I do miss walking in the sunshine but it is still light out.  When I get to town the street lights have just turned off.  I know it won't be very long before I'll be walking in the dark again though.
I now have 25 pot holders hanging up and still have room for some more! 🙂

Pink Peep Monday

63 degrees this morning when I walked under cloudy skies.
Sunrise is 6:34
so I start my walk before sunrise now.

Walked around both of the cemeteries.

Continued on over to the ball park and walked that loop.
Up and down the main road and all the side streets.

No one else out walking that I saw.

Came across an old pear tree with little pears starting to grow.
Pulled these four little ones off the tree.
Going to put them out back and see if the deer like these as much as the apples.
I didn't have a bag so put them in my hat.

We left this morning and went to Uniontown, Pa.
One of our stops was at Hobby Lobby.

Couldn't believe all the Christmas stuff they have out already.
Must have been a quarter of the whole store.
I bought a couple of boxes of Christmas cards for 50% off.
Know it is early but last year by the time I got around
to looking for cards I had a hard time finding any!!

Bought some long sleeve tee shirts.
They are only $8.99 and got 30% off.

Also got another pot holder for my collection.
Already put it up on the wall above the doors in the dining room.
It is the red and white checked one.

Another stop we made was at Harbor Freight.
Ken got a new cement mixer - motor finally went on the old one.
We've had it many many years and was Ken's fathers a long time ago.
Also picked up a new miter saw.

This week Pink Peep decided to visit with Mr. Snowman.

I've posted the progress on the counted cross stitch on my
other blog and is HERE if you care to take a look.

That's going to be it for today
