Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Ken makes supper

It rained during the night but had stopped by walking time.
42 degrees, cloudy, and very windy.
sunrise 6:50
Walking Steps 12,606

First went to the library and dropped a DVD down the slot.
Continued over to the ball park and then had a very random
walk all over town, eventually ending up at the cemeteries.

Didn't see anyone else out this morning.
About the last mile or so a light mist starting falling but I only got a bit damp.

Getting back to the Jeep I realized I didn't take any pictures,
so walked down the road to the cemetery a little ways, turned
around and took this picture.

Driving home it rained harder.
Once again the rain left a little opening for my walk.

☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐ŸŒง    ๐Ÿ™‚

This Tuesday we went to Grantvsille to Casslemans Market for food shopping.
Don't know if they just put up the pictures and shelves with these items on them    or I just noticed them for the first time today.
Don't know how I could have missed them!!

Finished up the weekly housework for the week and now just
have the every day chores to do each day.

This afternoon I
Baked a cake
Read
Sewed squares on March's baby blanket
(half finished)
Knitted

Ken made supper tonight.
Steamed vegetables and sweet and sour sauce with chicken on top.
Yummy

Thanks for visiting.

A potato chip

31 degrees this morning for walking and calm.
Once the sun came up it was sunny for a little while, then turned cloudy.
Sunrise 6:52
Walking Steps 13,047

Walked the left side of town first which was the cemeteries
and the ball park.
Back to the Jeep and picked up a book and then over to
the library to drop it down the slot.

Then walked around the right side of town and back down
the main road.  Still had a 1/2 mile to go so walked
around the lower cemetery one more time.

Saw Lisa walking three different times but all far away and
she didn't see me.

Walking down the road I heard someone call Hi Karen
from a car.
It was a friend Jackie from church passing by on her way to work.

๐ŸŒค    ๐Ÿฅพ    ☁️    ๐Ÿ˜Š

This is for you Anni.
Last night I had potato chips for my snack instead of ice cream.
When I spotted this heart shaped chip
I thought of you.

Got quite a bit of house cleaning done this morning.

Took a chance and hung the sheets out on the line but it started
raining so had to take them in and put them on the rack to dry
the rest of the way.

After lunch we went to get some diesel for the tractor and
went to the dump while we were out.

When we got back the sheets were dry so put them back on the bed.
Then I spent some time knitting on a small white blanket I
started a while back.

Then a little reading before it was time for supper.
Reading the book club selection - Surviving Savanah - liking it so far.

Thanks for visiting.

๐ŸŽถ ๐ŸŽถ Revive Us Again ๐ŸŽถ ๐ŸŽถ
- William Mackay -

1. We praise thee, O God, for the Son of thy love,
for Jesus who died, and is now gone above.

Chorus

Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! Amen!
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, revive us again.

2. We praise thee, O God, for thy Spirit of light
who has shown us our Savior and scattered our night. [Refrain]

3. We praise thee, O God, for the joy thou hast giv’n
to thy saints in communion, these foretastes of heav’n. [Refrain]

4. Revive us again, fill each heart with thy love.
May each soul be rekindled with fire from above. [Refrain]

๐Ÿ“– Habakkuk 3:2 ๐Ÿ“–

O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid:
O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years,
in the midst of the years make known;
in wrath remember mercy.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

Two Potholders

The thermometer read 21 degrees this morning for walking.
Some wind and it was said the wind chill made it feel like 8 degrees
but it sure did NOT feel that cold.
There was a mix of sun and clouds.
Sunrise 6:55
Walking Steps 12,705

Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park first and then
all over town up and down all the streets.

Lisa was out walking and this time her husband Dwayne
was out walking with her.

Don't usually see mallard ducks on the town pond but
today there were three of them there with the geese.

Not much happening around town on the early Saturday morning
but sure good to be outside walking.

☁️    ๐ŸŒค    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ˜€

This morning we went to the Dollar General but couldn't get
all what we needed because all the refrigerated cases were broken.
Tomorrow on the way home from church we will stop at another one.
There are two more between here and church.

Bought two more potholders for my collection and hung them up.
The one in the middle I already had.

Finished reading the fantasy book, Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher
and must say I really liked it and gave it 4 stars.
Guess I'll have to read more fantasy books!!

It ended up being a cloudy day and the only sun I saw
was when walking.

Thanks for visiting.

Little slippers

31 degrees (what a difference from yesterday) with a mix
of sun and clouds and at times some gusty winds.
Sunrise 6:56
Walking Steps 12,564

Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park first which
are all on the road to the left of the main one.
Continued on to the road behind my old house in town and then
back over to the pond.
From there I walked down the road off to the right of the main
one past the library and came back up the main road.
Still had a 1/2 mile to walk so went around the lower
cemetery one more time.

Saw Lisa out walking and we stopped for a bit to talk.

I was happy to have spotted these first little blooms.

I'll be watching a couple more houses being built in town.
There were some men doing work on the cleared lot and I asked
what was going to happen on the land.
They said a couple of houses were going to be built.
In town houses have to be on at least 1/2 acre lots.
Suppose there will be two houses facing the road to the right.
It'll be fun watching them get built.
Wonder how long it will take?!

☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐ŸŒค

Finished the other little baby slipper.
Aren't they the cutest little things!!

All three baby items.

The baby I knitted these things for is due March 8,
but just got news that the baby girl decided to come today.
No details yet though.

Finished up some house cleaning and then read.

Friday and supper tonight was homemade pizza.๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ•

Anni - I usually have a planned route in mind when I start out walking BUT rarely stick to it.  I walk all over and just go where my feet take me.  I get easily side tracked.  Another reason I like walking alone. :)

Changing skies

When I walked this morning it was a mild 54 degrees!!
There was a mix of sun and clouds during my walk.
Nice to have a bit of a wind to keep me cool.
Sunrise 6:58
Walking Steps 12,807

Walked around the cemetery on the hill and then the ball park.
Back through town and then around the other cemetery.
Then walked the other side of the main road where the library is.

Saw Rebecca walking at a distance and Joy at a distance too
but they didn't see me.

Changeable sky this morning.
From this

to this

and finally this.

Saw deer again today and a few rabbits and
geese in pairs along the edge of the pond.

Someone had a big pile of brush burning on the plot of land in
town that was being cleared in the last week or so.

☁️    ๐ŸŒค    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ™‚

We watched the movie Mary Poppins last night and really enjoyed it.
It is so much better than the book, and I don't think I've ever
said that before!!!

Just did the routine house chores and then I knitted again.
Got one of the tiny slippers done and half of the second one.
They are the cutest little things.
It is the same green color as the hat and sweater.
Will post a picture of them tomorrow when I've finished with both.

Enjoying reading the fantasy book I picked from the library
that was gift wrapped.
Though I don't usually read fantasy I may read more from now on.

Thanks for stopping by.

Knitting

35 degrees again this morning when I went walking.
Started out cloudy, half way through my walk it started drizzling
and driving home it rained.
Sunrise 6:59
Walking Steps 12,814

Saw 5 deer as I was driving to town.
All five crossed the road (not a busy road) in a line.

Started out walking up and down the main street through town.
Next both of the cemeteries and then around the ball park.
Back through town and up and down the side streets and back
to the Jeep.
Was a bit damp walking in the drizzle.

Clouds not colorful but thought they looked pretty interesting.

Didn't see any one else out walking.
Just me.

☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐ŸŒง    ๐Ÿ˜Š

Here is the picture of the finished boat-neck baby sweater
and I finished the hat today too.

Aren't these two of the cutest babies ever
modeling the sweater and hat.

I'll be putting the pattern and pictures up on my Made by Happy K blog
soon, so if you'd like the pattern it will there.

Now just have to knit the little slippers.

Put chicken in the slow cooker this morning and shredded it and
we had chicken burritos for supper.
In the past I used 2 forks to shred the chicken and it takes a while.
I read on Mari's Blog an easy way to shred chicken is with an electric mixer.
I tried it and it with my hand held mixer and worked like a charm!!
it literately only takes ones minute!!
What a great tip.

THANK YOU Mari.

Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Wednesday to you.

Mystery Book

35 degrees this morning and calm when I started walking.
Saw a pretty sunrise while walking around the cemetery up on the hill.

Even saw a rainbow, which I haven't seen around here in a long time.
Only lasted a couple of minutes and though I did take a picture
it didn't come out good.

Soon after a light drizzle started falling and that stayed around
for the rest of my walk.

I walked around both of the cemeteries, the ball park, and around town.

Saw Rebecca out walking and she told me she saw a robin this morning.
That's a good sign - spring is not far behind.

There were a couple of geese out on the town pond.

Sunrise 7:00
Walking Steps 12,665

☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ™‚    ๐ŸŒง

Oatmeal for breakfast again and then off we went to the Shop and Save
to get the weekly groceries.
Went out again at 11:00 to the library.
Picked up another DVD and the book I have to read for my book club,
Surviving Savanah by Patti Callahan.
I also picked out one of these gift wrapped books.
They are labeled romance, mystery, or whatever, adult or children
You choose a book to read and your name gets put in for a drawing to
win a gift card.
Didn't ask what the gift card was for and can't read it on the sign.
Will find out next time I go.

I chose one that said adult fantasy just because it was different
from the usual books I read.
When I got home I unwrapped the book and found it to be
Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher, who I am not familiar with.

I figured out how to sew the baby sweater together.
It turned out okay but looks homemade to me.
Saving the picture for tomorrows post.

Thanks for stopping by.

White Cow

Some gusty winds every so often this morning and 43 degrees under cloudy skies.
Sunrise 7:02
Walking Steps 12,808

Headed over to the library first thing and dropped off a book
and a DVD, then continued over to the main street and back.
Walked around both cemeteries.

KitCat came over to see me as I came down the hill.
Got a picture of him this time even if a bit blurry.

Went down to see the 'girls' and a new white one has joined them.

Whitey came over and gave my hand a sniff.
Probably thought I had food for her.

Left the cows and walked over to the ball park and around there.
Then some more around town.

Saw Lisa out walking at one cemetery and Joy walking down the hill
from the cemetery as I was just getting back to the
Jeep to go back home.

☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ’จ    ๐Ÿ™‚

I finished knitting the baby sweater and now just have to sew
it together which is the hardest part for me.
Going to tackle that tomorrow!!
Wish me luck.
Started knitting a hat the same green color to go with the sweater.
Hoping to have time also to knit some tiny slippers the same color.
The baby is due March 8th so don't have that much time.

That's going to be it for today.
Hope your Monday was a good one.

Sunday

A pink sunrise from earlier this week.

Sunset from my front porch an evening last week.

From the same spot 5 minutes later!!

A hymn from this morning in church

๐ŸŽถ  My Redeemer ๐ŸŽถ
Philip P Bliss

1. I will sing of my Redeemer,
And His wondrous love to me;
On the cruel cross He suffered,
From the curse to set me free.

Refrain:

Sing, oh, sing of my Redeemer,
With His blood He purchased me;
On the cross He sealed my pardon,
Paid the debt, and made me free.

2. I will tell the wondrous story,
How my lost estate to save,
In His boundless love and mercy,
He the ransom freely gave.

3. I will praise my dear Redeemer,
His triumphant pow’r I’ll tell,
How the victory He giveth
Over sin, and death, and hell.

4. I will sing of my Redeemer,
And His heav’nly love to me;
He from death to life hath brought me,
Son of God with Him to be.

You can listen to the hymn

A Blessed Sunday to all.

No town walk

Woke up a little bit later than usual and didn't have time
to drive to town for a walk because we had to leave
for another Fingerprint work day at church.
I did manage to walk a couple miles in the basement though.
Just as well because it was very cold and it was probably
slippery in places anyway.

We had a nice sunny day though it did stay cold but so nice
to see the sun.

There were only 5 of us working at church today on Fingerprints
but we had a good time putting the scriptures together.

Later in the day I made a few squares.
The baby blanket for March will be made up of four colors.
I have 20 squares made already.

Finished reading All the Devils Are Here by Louise Penny.
Good book but liked the other books in the series better.
This one was set in Paris and I liked the setting of the little
village in Canda better.

After supper I walked another mile in the basement.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope your Saturday was a good one.

Friday

A misty rainy walk this morning with some wind that got
stronger the longer I walked.
When I started walking it was 50 degrees and when I got
back to the Jeep it was down to 39.
Sunrise 7:06
Walking Steps 12,744

Walked all over town and the ball park loop and
both cemeteries.

Planned on cutting my walk short because of the cold rain
but ended up walking all 6 miles.

Lisa was the only other person out there walking.

๐ŸŒง    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice to get back home to a nice dry warm house.
Seemed like a good day to have oatmeal for breakfast.

Today was a Fingerprint Ministry work day at church.
We left the house at 10:30 and stopped at Walmart to pick up
a new battery for our dump trailer first before continuing on to church.

Work at church is from 12:00 to 9:00 with people coming and going
to work when they can.
We left at 5:00.

The temperature went down during the day and now it is 23 degrees.
We had rain, freezing snow, fog, and plain old snow.
Roads a bit slippery on the way home.
Once again today I'm glad to be home in a nice warm house.
About to have supper which is pizza which we made earlier
in the week and froze with today in mind.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope your Friday was a happy one.

Another nice walk

49 degrees again this morning but no sunshine, just clouds.
Thankfully the wind died down and it was calm.
Sunrise 7:07
Walking Steps 12775

Walked through town, behind our old house in town,
and then over to the industrial park and walked around there.

A pretty pink sunrise in the industrial park.

Continued walking up and down on the road between the IP and the main road.
Then around the ball park.
The last place I walked was the cemetery on the hill.

A reflection on the town pond.

Stopped to talk to Bill, the town worker over at the town hall.
Saw a new man walking his dog.
Stopped to talk to Lisa again.
Rebecca was out walking too.

☁️    ๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐Ÿฅพ

Once I got home the rain came and it most of the day.

Just enough time to get changed, eat breakfast, and make the bed,
and it was time to go to church for a morning of making baby blankets.
There were 9 of us there this time.
Dorothy gave the devotional and Charlotte brought breakfast.
I didn't eat anything because I ate at home.

Before coming home stopped in at the nursing home to say hi to Bettye.
Hopefully she will be able to go home next week.
She REALLY WANTS TO GET BACK HOME!!!

Read this afternoon and made a few more squares.

Thanks for visiting.

A sweatshirt escapes

Pretty warm at 49 degrees this morning for walking.
Just a slight breeze with a mix of sun and clouds.
Sunrise 7:08
Walking Steps 12665

First walked over to the post office to mail a birthday card.
Then around the ball park loop a few times,
both of the cemeteries and then just around town.

Went down to the 'girls' and they mooed loudly when I left.

Saw Lisa walking and we walked a short ways together.
Haven't seen her in a long time.
She went on a 10 day cruise.
Then got sick with the flu
and to top it off broke two of her toes.
Things can only get better for her now!!

Kermit was out working in his yard so stopped to talk to him.
He LIKES to talk and sometimes it is hard to get back to walking.

Saw a couple of rabbits and lots of geese and quite a few crows too.

๐ŸŒค    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ„    ๐Ÿ‡

It got very windy after I got back home but I put the laundry
out on the line anyway.
Things dried super fast but I looked out one time and noticed
an orange sweatshirt was gone.
Ken went out to look for it and found it over by the side of the garage.
I hung it back up with a few extra clothes pins.

Finished up some housework and then read this afternoon.
Also picked out the colors for the next baby blanket
and will start making some squares this evening.

That's it for today.
Hope you had a good one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday

26 degrees this morning when I started out walking.
Calm, and mostly sunny with a few clouds around.
It was already in the 30's by walks end
and ended up making it all the way in the 50's by afternoon.
Sunrise 7:10
Walking Steps 12,890

Walked around both of the cemeteries, the ball park,
and then down the main road back towards home.
Went about a half mile, turned around and came back to town.
Stopped at the Jeep to pick up a book and walked to the
library and dropped that down the book drop.
Then back to the Jeep and the ended my walk.

Nice being out early and watching a new day start.
Just getting to the upper cemetery here.

This is taken walking down the road towards home.
I take a picture often of this because I just love the view
going to Farmer Marvin's farm.

Saw KitCat resting at the base of a tree and he came over
to see me as I passed by.
Tried to get another picture of him but it's hard to get him
to stand still.  Took three and they were all one big blur.

Saw a rabbit and 5 deer but no people walking.

๐ŸŒค    ๐Ÿฅพ    ❤️    ๐Ÿ˜Š

We really didn't need much of anything but we went to the
Shop and Save to get those few things.

Got some more house chores done.
Then I made the last 3 weave-it squares for the
baby blanket and got is sewed up and ready for Thursday.

Read some and now I'm off to make supper.

That's all for today.
