Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

In the pond 😊

56 degrees this morning when I walked and cloudy.
Driving to town I saw 4 deer, two of them were young bucks.
Getting darker minute by minute these mornings and I have to put
the headlights are on when I drive to town.
Walked 5.3 miles
Sunrise 6:45

Walked through town, around the ball park, and both cemeteries.
Went behind the ball park along the short path.
Pretty sure I could get to the industrial park from there but
it is on private property.

Watched concrete being poured by the twin houses that are for sale.
Looks like a shared driveway and then a big concrete slab for
parking out back.
Will take a picture a day when the workers aren't there.

The only person I saw walking was John and his dog Prim.

☁️    🥾    🌻

A nice sunny day in the 60's so we spent a lot of it outside.
But first we gathered up the garbage and took it to the dump.
Ken had to pick a couple more books up from the library so we
stopped there too before coming home.

We bought a little fountain to put in the tiny pond
out front in our yard and we put it in and got it working.
Still have to gather a few more rocks to put around it
and on the bottom to hide the rubber lining.

I did have to go in the house a little earlier than I planned on though.
As I was putting some stones in the pond I was crouched down
balancing on a rock, holding onto the bottom of the bridge.
Then lost my grip and in the pond I went.
Ended up sitting at the bottom of it.
It was so funny!!
To bad Ken hadn't been there taking a picture.
I was soaked from head to toe so went inside and took a shower.

Then sat out on the porch to read.

That's it for today.
Thanks for popping in.
Happy Wednesday🙂

DysonV8

64 degrees under cloudy skies this morning for walking.
It rained before I walked and afterward.
Walked 5.3 miles
Sunrise 6:44

Walked up and down the main street in town,
around the ball park a couple of times,
back around town and around both cemeteries.

The pond with all the algae.

and a close up of it.  Creepy looking stuff.

Rebecca was out running and John and his dog Prim were out walking.
The shy man was out walking again, this time with his dog, but saw
them as I was driving back home.

On the way to town I saw the Doe and her twins again
by the apple tree.

An uneventful walk but great to be out there.

☁️    🥾    🌻

Food shopping day and this time we went to the Shop and Save.
Ran into a few people we knew.
A couple of neighbors, and a woman from the book club
I used to go to.  She said I was missed and invited me to come back.
I told her I'd think about it.

I spent some time today changing my blog look around.
Got tired of the dark colors and went for something light
and hopefully easy to read.

My new vacuum cleaner came in the mail today.
A Dyson V8 cordless one.
So light and easy to use.
So nice not having to deal with a cord.
Picks up great too.
So far loving it.

That's it for today.
Thanks for popping in.
Happy Tuesday🙂

Anonymous - You asked about the arch.  It is first made out of wood.  The stone is put on the wooded arch and then the wood is removed.  The stones pressing together keeps it in place.

Ken's Rock BBQ/Pizza Oven

64 degrees this morning when walking and sunny.
Walked 5.1 miles
Sunrise 6:43

Walked over to the library first to drop a book down the slot.
Then continued through town and went up the road to Lisa' house.
This is her pond and I spotted a heron there.
Picture not so good because I had to zoom in with my phone.

 Walking back down the road.

Passing by here I wondered about the tracks.

So I walked along them and this was at the end.
Dirt is getting dumped to fill it in.

Walked back to the main road and then around both the cemeteries.

I saw Bill over by the pond and stopped to talk to him.
Fountain is still not working because there is just too much
algae and it keeps clogging it up.
They just can't seem to get rid of the algae.

Joy was out walking but we just waved because we were
on opposite sides of the cemetery.

☀️    🥾    🌻

Too nice to be inside so was outside most of the day.

Walked around outside and picked up some dead fall and added to the fence.

Ken is finishing up the BBQ and out back and made a fire in it
to see how hot the oven part would get.

The lower part by the flames is where the racks go for grilling.
We've already had hamburgers grilled out there.

The upper part is where the pizza will bake.
The temperature got up to 450 degrees so we should be
able to bake a pizza in there.

Sorry for the messy picture.
Some cleanup around there is needed.

I sat out on the porch and sewed a couple more strips on the baby blanket.
Only 3 more strips to make and sew, which is 21 squares.
Also read some of my latest book.
Every Breath You Take by Mary Higgins Clark.

That's going to be it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Monday🙂

Saturday

This morning started out a bit foggy and it was 62 degrees.
Stayed cloudy while I walked but did see the sun once I got home.
Walked 5.2 miles
Sunrise 6:41

Walked through town and to the curve in the road and
turned around at the farm road.

Walked back though town and around both cemeteries.

The cemetery cat walked with me for a little while.
He walked ahead of me and just would not turn around to
get his picture taken.

Saw John walking his dog.  Learned the dogs name today.
Primrose, called Prim for short.

Once again a now and then picture.

Today

☁️    🥾    🌻

After breakfast Ken went to the Dollar General on his own today.
I stayed home and baked chocolate chip cookies.

It was a beautiful cool sunny day.
Spent a lot of time outside.
Walking around and doing a bit of pulling weeds out of the gravel.
Sat on the porch and read and knitted.

Some friends of David and Liz
(a couple and their three young kids) are visiting from NJ.
They have a pop up camper and are spending the night camped out by the cabin.
This afternoon they all walked down from the cabin to meet us.
The kids had a ball running all around outside
and hiking around in the woods.
They were also glad to have some of those chocolate chip cookies
I made this morning for them. 🍪

That's going to be it for today.
Happy Saturday🙂

Friday

This morning when I went walking it was 62 degrees
with a mix of sun and clouds.
Walked 5.3 miles
Sunrise 6:40

Walked right through town and over to the industrial park
and walked around in there.
Only 5 business in the park so it is a nice quiet and pretty place
to walk.
What's nice about this road is there are no hills!

From the industrial park I walked over to the ball park and walked
around it twice and then on to the lower cemetery.
Once around there and back to the Jeep.

Didn't see anyone else walking this morning.

Another then and now picture on the main street in town.

🌤    🥾    🌻

It was a nice sunny day and I went outside and did my usual
puttering and walking around.
It was a bit buggy out so didn't stay outside a long time.

Made some weave-it squares and sewed them together this afternoon.
I'm already half finished with next months baby blanket!!
Like most afternoons I did a little reading.

That's all I've got for today.
Happy Friday🙂

Old and new and Vera

 A morning just like yesterday.
58 degrees, a little fog at first and then sunny.
Walked 5.1 miles
Sunrise - one minute later than yesterday at 6:39.

Walked straight through town and back and then
around the cemetery on the hill where I took the picture above.
Headed down the main road towards home a ways, turned back
and went around the lower cemetery a couple of times.

Saw Rebecca twice.
First time walking her dog Leo and the second time she was alone and running.
The man that I've been seeing was walking again but was too
far away to say anything.

Another now and then picture.
Picture taken in 1926
Original building was built in 1916 and a new front put on it in 1919.

☀️    🥾    🌼

Another good day to do the laundry with all the sunshine.

Too nice to stay inside so puttered around outside for a while.

A couple of nice things came in the mail today.
Our Pastor sent us a very nice thank you card for the work we did
on the fence and little garden.
He didn't have to do that but it was so very nice that he did.
Love the note cards!

We bought the Vera series and that came in the mail today too.
It is a British mystery series and I heard about it first from
We got one DVD out of the library and enjoyed it but they don't have
all of the series so we just bought it.

Thought about washing the Jeep but that is as far as I got!!
🚗

Instead I sat on the porch and read!!

Couldn't wait till tomorrow for pizza day so like last week
we made pizza a day early and had it for supper.

Thanks for popping in for a visit.
Happy Thursday🙂

Then and now

58 degrees this morning when I started walking
and some fog around at first.
Walked 5.1 miles
Sunrise 6:38

Wasn't long though before the fog was gone and it was sunny.

Walked around town, both cemeteries, and the ball park.

Went down to see the bulls in the barnyard.
Three of the four that were there.

The man who I saw walking the other day with the ear pods was
out again.  This time he waved.  I'll get him to talk yet.🙂

Joy was out walking and since we hadn't seen each other in a few weeks
we stopped for about 10 minutes and talked.

I passed the bank before the workers were there so took a
picture of the progress of the drive thru.

A car carrier was delivering cars to the dealership in town.

Another enjoyable morning walk.

☀️    🥾    🌼

Did house stuff in the morning.
Finally got the sheets washed, dried, and back on the bed.
Did another load too while it was sunny.

Work done in the morning and then I could enjoy
reading and knitting in the afternoon.

David and Liz stopped by for a little visit on their way
home from work.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy Wednesday🙂

CallaCreek - No, that is not the church we go to.  Our church is in Mt Lake Park, 20 miles away.

GrannyM - I guess the houses are so close to the road in town because 120 years or so ago it was a dirt lane and that's just where the houses were built.  When it was paved years later the houses were already there.
This is the main street through town back those many years ago.

This picture I took today is about in the same spot as the old one.

A Toad

When I went walking this morning it was 60 degrees and cloudy.
Walked 5.2 miles
Sunrise 6:37

I've been walking 5 miles the last few days and my ankle feels just fine.
The only things I can't do yet is jump and stand on tippy toes.
There would be no problem walking my usual 6 miles.
For now though I'm just going to walk the 5 miles.
I've tried to just walk 5 miles many times which has always been my goal
but it always seems to creep up to 6 again.

Walked around town, both cemeteries, and the ball park.

Lots of apples on this tree in someones back yard.

I seem to always take pictures of the church as I come into town.
Here is a picture from the other side going out of town.

It was another very quiet morning around town and didn't see any one
else out and about.

This little toad was sitting in the middle of the road behind the church.
I made him hop over to the side and into the grass.

The last mile a very light misty rain started falling but didn't last long.

☁️    🥾    🌻

Mid morning we hopped in the Jeep and drove to the Shop and Save
to pick up a few things.

Next stop the Dollar General and the last stop was the library.
Ken had to use the copy machine and also pick up a couple books
that were on hold.

I looked around while he was doing that and ended up checking
out three books of my own which I had no intention of doing.
Just so hard to walk in the library and not walk out with books.

Did a few house work chores and then puttered around out side.
It ended up being a cool sunny day.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy Tuesday🙂

A little drizzle

60 degrees this morning when I started walking and cloudy.
Walked 5 miles
Sunrise 6:36

After the first mile a light rain started.
The rain drops were just blending together on my shirt when it stopped.
I dried out and later it rained again.
Then once again I dried out.
It was a nice gentle rain which sounded delightful on the trees and corn.
It also kept me nice and cool.

Headed over to the library first to drop a book down the slot.
Then around the ball park, the cemetery on top of the hill
and around town.

Pretty quiet around town.
Seemed more like a Saturday or Sunday.
Didn't see any people walking around town.
The only activity were workers at the bank working on the drive thru.
Looks like they have all the cement work done and now they
are ready to put the building up.

☁️    🥾    🌧

A rainy Monday morning so the sheets didn't get washed.
Did get a good start on this weeks house cleaning though.

There were periods of sun and rain throughout the day.

The only thing I did this afternoon was read and knit.
Made for lovely afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Monday to you.🙂

Thanks to everyone for the kind response to the devotional.

Sunday

Happy Sunday

✏️    ✏️

This past Thursday at Blankets for Babies it was my turn to give the devotional.
This is it.

Today I’m going to talk about walking, placing one foot in front of the other and going forward one step at a time.

If you stop doing that you are not walking anymore but standing still.
Walking implies movement, progress and direction.

Walking with God means moving forward in step with God leading the way.

Most of you know that I go for a walk every day.
I also walk with God every day.
I’ve jotted down a few thoughts comparing my morning walk with walking with God

1.
I like to and think it is good to go walking the first thing in the morning.
It gives me energy for the whole day.

Just like it is good to start the day walking with God.
Praying and asking Him to walk along with you showing you what to do all day.

📖 Jeremiah 42:3

That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk,
and the thing that we may do.

2.
My morning walk puts me in a good mood and makes me happy.

Walking with God does the same thing - I am content knowing God has my
best interest in mind.

📖 Psalm 89:15

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:
they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance

3.
Walking makes me thankful.
First that I am able to walk and for the motivation to get up and walk
and for all God’s blessing.

I am thankful that God walks along with me each day.

4.
When I see a beautiful sunrise I think that it is
God saying Good Morning Karen.

Spending time with God in morning devotions is my way of
saying Good Morning to God.

5.
Walking takes times as does reading God’s word
but it is important to me and I find the time.

6.
I go walking in good weather but also go in all kinds of weather.
I wear layers of clothing to protect me from the weather
and rain pants and my yellow slicker when it rains.

Just like walking along with God we go through those sunny days
but also when it storms.
He protect us and helps us through those times.

7.
When walking in bad weather I know that the sun is still there
just above the clouds but can’t be seen.

When we go through hard times,
we may not see or feel God but he is always there
watching over us.

📖 Psalms 84:11

For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory:
no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

8.
If I don’t or can’t go walking one morning I just don’t feel
right for the whole day.  Something is missing.

If I skip a morning devotional or don’t talk to God something seems missing
and the whole day just doesn’t go right.

9.
When I go walking even if things are not so great or troubles come my way
things don’t seem so bad when I’m out walking.
Walking gives me peace.

Just like going through those times of trouble don’t seem quite so bad
when I know God is right by my side walking along with me all the way.
He gives me peace.

Psalms 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

I’ve always liked this little poem about starting the day right.
Though it is not directly about walking I think praying
is part of walking with God.

The Difference
by Alan Grant

I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day.
I had so much to accomplish that I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered.
He answered, You didn't ask,"
I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on, gray and bleak.
I wondered why God didn't show me.
He said, "But you didn't seek.:
I tried to come into God's presence.
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided, "My child, you didn't knock."
I woke up early this morning and paused before I enter the day.
I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

A sunny day

59 degrees this morning when I started walking.
A nice mix of sun and clouds.
Walked 5 miles
Sunrise 6:34

Walked through town and to the curve in the road where I walked up the farm driveway just a bit and then turned around.
Just turned around here at the south end of town
and now I'm headed back north again.

Back in town I walked around the ball park a couple of times and then back to the main road and out the north side of town.
Turned around after a bit and walked back in town heading south.

Lastly I walked around the lower cemetery.
It is nice walking here in the shade of the corn.

The golden rod is now blooming.

Pretty quiet around town this morning.
Didn't see anyone else out.

A couple of mushrooms

🌤    🥾    🎈

It was a beautiful sunshiny day.

Did a load of laundry and got it hung out to dry and did
the basic every day house chores.
Other than that just puttered about both inside and outside the house.

We ate lunch on the porch again and continued our ice cube contest.
This time I got one in and Ken missed all of them. 🙂

Read some sitting out on the porch in the swing and then
did a little knitting.

Supper this evening was BLT's.

Thanks so much for popping in for a visit.
