Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cold and Clear

The rain stopped and it was a cold clear morning for walking.
27 degrees but no wind.
The moon was huge this morning!
Walking around town there were some icy spots around so had to be careful.

Had one of those random walks all over the place.
This is taken on the other side of town walking back
from the industrial park.

On the way up to the cemetery.
A lot of the trees are bare now but there are a few pretty
trees around with their leaves yet.

A while back I mentioned that I brought two dogs that had gotten
out of their yard back to their house.
Well the house is now empty with a For Sale sign out front.
They sure moved out fast.

Another day that I didn't see anyone else out walking.

Walked 6 miles
Found a quarter and a penny.

☀️    🎃    ☀️

Took our $5 coupon to Dollar General this morning and
did a bit of shopping.

Spent a good part of the afternoon sewing squares together
and I'm half done.  Will do some more this evening and
probably finish up tomorrow.

I've been doing a home Bible Study from A to Z
that our church is providing.
When a lesson is finished, you mail it in and the next one is then
mailed out.  I got E in the mail today.
A - Assurance
B - Baptism
C - The Church
D - Daily Walk with God
E - The Eternal Word

Really have been enjoying doing them and I look
forward each time to see what subject is chosen for each letter.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Saturday to you.

OnLine Shopping

It was still rainy and 38 degrees when I woke up this morning.
With the cooler temperature and my rain slicker not big
enough for layers underneath I didn't go walking in the rain.
So went down in the basement first thing and walked some loops
around Ken's train layout.

I made blueberry muffins for our breakfast.
After that the rain let up so I decided to go for my town walk then.
I was able to wear a few layers and keep warm.
There was a light mist at times but not enough to get me wet.
Walked my usual loops around town and up and down a few
side streets.

Went down to say hi to the bulls.
Poor things, with all the rain they were in mucky mud
some of them muddy up to their knees.

A new little horse has come to the farm.
Noticed her mane is plaited.
She did sniff my hand but then went back to eating and
couldn't get a picture of her looking at me.

The last of the corn has been cut down and now there is a good
view of the farm from the cemetery.

The white mushroom is as smooth as it looks in the picture
like a big marshmallow.

No one else out walking again.
Walked 1 mile in the basement and 5 miles in town.

☁️    🎃    ☁️

Did a little shopping on line today.
L.L. Bean - 4 turtleneck tee shirts and a winter coat. (Not for walking)

Herrschner's Craft Store - 33 hanks of Simply Soft Carron yarn for baby afghans. That should last me a while!!
I haven't been able to find it in our Walmart any more and we
haven't been to LaVale since March so don't know if they have it anymore.
Ordering on line I got to choose LOTS of different colors.
Can't wait to get the yarn and line up all the colors.🙂

Also bought a rubber mat for the kitchen sink.
That's something else I haven't been able to find anywhere.

More rain this afternoon.

Made lasagna for supper.
Don't have a recipe. We don't like meat in ours so I just layer
noodles, sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, and ricotta cheese.
There is enough left over for supper tomorrow.
Don't usually like to eat the same thing two days in a row
but we make an exception for lasagna!

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Friday to you.

Singing in the rain...

54 degrees this morning for walking and no wind,
but rain, rain, and more rain.

When I leave in the morning Ken is still in bed but I always tell
him when I go.  This morning he said,
"You're going walking in this!?"
I told him yes, it's just a little water.

I not only wore my rain gear but took the umbrella as well.
My umbrella got saturated and started leaking.
Stepped in a few puddles and got wet feet and when the
trucks drove by I got splashed.
In spite of all that it was a fun walk.
I actually started singing the song
Singing in the rain.

Walked all over town and around the cemeteries.
Walked down to see the bulls and they didn't seem to be
bothered by the rain either.

As expected I was the only Crazy Person out walking.
Walked 5.5 miles

🌧    🍁🍂    🌧

Rained the whole day so we spent a cozy day inside.

Laundry and a little cleaning got done in the morning.
Ken made us nachos for lunch.

After lunch I did some coloring.
Left picture with colored pencils.
Right picture crayons.

Finished all 70 weave-it squares for the baby blanket for November.
Now just have to sew them together.

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is another one of those books
that I never got around to reading as a kid.
I borrowed it from the library today on my Kindle.
Will start reading it later.

That's going to be it for today.

Wednesday

Cloudy, 52 degrees and windy this morning when I walked.
Saw 7 deer on the drive to town.
A random walk all over town.
There must have been no school today because I didn't see any buses.

Wednesday is fresh donut day at the bakery so saw quite a few
people pop in at the bakery.
I don't bring money or my face mask with me when I walk
so I can't buy any!!

Lena and Jim were walking around the ball park loop
the same time I was.

Felt like rain but it never did. Stayed pretty dark and dreary
all of my walk, but still enjoyed my walk.
It is less dreary outside than inside. 🙂

A few pictures along my walk.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🍁🍂    ☁️

Needed to get some laundry done but the weather wasn't
cooperating so had to dry them inside on the clothes drying rack.
Got some house work done in the morning.

Day stayed dreary and by afternoon there was a mist in the air
and suppertime there was thick fog!

Read, colored another picture, and made some more weave-its.

I made a nice big salad for supper with lettuce, apples, nuts,
cheese, tomatoes, toast croutons, and cranraisins
with raspberry walnut vinaigrette salad dressing.

No evening church this week.
Back to FB church only for a couple of weeks at least.
One person in our church has tested positive and a few others
are waiting for the test results.

Tuesday

Not a very colorful morning sky but thought it pretty anyway.
I was lucky to get the geese right in the middle!!

45 degrees this morning, calm, and drizzly when I left the house.
By the time I drove to town the drizzle had stopped and
it was just cloudy on my walk.

A random all over town walk.

Took this picture walking up to the cemetery.
The corn (feed for animals) on one side of the road was harvested yesterday.

Rebecca was out walking.
Walked down to say hi to the bulls.

Food shopping day at the Shop and Save and did that first
thing in the morning like usual.

Went out again later in the afternoon to pick up a couple
of books from the library.
Ken had a couple and I had one.
My next book is Battles at Thrush Green, a Miss Read book.
I'll actually be reading a real book this time instead of on my Kindle.

Didn't get any more housework done today.
After being out two different times just couldn't get
excited about cleaning late in the day.

Monday

40 degrees, no wind, and cloudy this morning when I walked.
A couple rain drops here and there but just for a minute,
not amounting to anything.

Walked around and through town and over to the industrial park.
Stopped at the end of this dead end street.
Someone owns the wooded property
but if I walked there I would get to the ball park.
Sure would be nice if there was a path from here to there.

Walking along on a side street.

Quiet around town, but I did see Lena and her husband out walking.

No animals at all today, not even one deer or a cow!

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🍁🍂    ☁️

Gave the mud/laundry room a good cleaning today.
No surface cleaning this time.
Sure is great having a mud room!!

Made some more weave-it squares.
Now only have to make 15 more to finish another baby blanket.

Did a couple crossword puzzles and read.
Some work and some fun makes for a good day.  🙂

That's it for this Monday.

A verse and a hymn

 Happy Sunday

Isaiah 49:13 KJV

Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth;
and break forth into singing, O mountains:
for the Lord hath comforted his people,
and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

 📖     📖

To God Be the Glory
By Fanny J Crosby
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God...
Romans 15:5

1. To God be the glory great things He hath done!
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory – great things He hath done!

2. O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

3. Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

A Rainy Walk

Even warmer this morning with a 57 degree temperature.
Temperature dropping though, when I got home it was 50 degrees
and then in the afternoon it was in the 40's.
A rainy morning walk with just a breeze to start off with
but got windy by the time I got home.

A random walk all over town on one of my usual town walks.
Walking down the main street.

I've seen this cat looking out the window for quite a few days
now as I walk past so snapped a picture.
The lighted window in the upper left corner of the above
picture is the same window.

A very quiet morning walk around town.
Didn't see anyone at all out.

Glad to be wearing my rain pants and yellow slicker because
it rained during my entire walk.

Walked 6.1 miles

🍁    🌧    🍂

In the morning we went to the Dollar General to do a little shopping
to use that $5 coupon we get to use on Saturday's.
While there I came across these cute pot holders.
I've started a pot holder collection and put them on the
kitchen walls near the ceiling.

It's been a dreary rainy day and turned foggy in the afternoon
but kept busy doing this and that around the house.
A few chores
Reading
Hanging up the potholders
Making weave-it squares
Going through old recipes

A happy Saturday to you.

Friday

This is the fifth day in a row that the temperature has been 55 degrees in the morning when I walked.
No wind to speak of and a mix of sun and clouds.

Had one of those random walks up and down all the streets in town.
Nothing going on in town, very quiet and didn't see any others out.

Walking down the main street in town.

Bulls with no name

Once again this morning it was 55 degrees.
Calm, and mostly clear with a few low clouds dotting the area.
Got a bit of a late start because I didn't wake up till 6:35.

Walked up and down the main road in town and then headed over
to the industrial park and walked around there.

I come to this barn as I near the industrial park.
The barn is still used because there are hay bales in it.

On the other side some more boards have fallen off.

Walking in the industrial park here.

Leaving the ball park, went back through town and up to the
cemetery on the top of the hill and then down to see the bulls again.

Yesterday I mentioned that the bulls had names on their number tags
in their ears.  I was mistaken in thinking that was their names.
Today I noticed that quite a few of them had the same name,
Pacer, Merlin, Indy, were the names I saw.
Maybe they are the names of farms where they came from or will be going to?

Picture didn't come out so great because of the sun.

Saw Rebecca out walking as well as the woman runner I see
sometimes.  She was friendly today and said good morning.

Walked 6 miles

🍂    🌤    🙂

Got another load of laundry washed and hung outside.
A slight problem with this load - a tissue got washed with it.

Didn't get much else done in the morning because a friend
I haven't talked to in a while called and we had a good long talk.

I've had this recipe kicking around for I don't know how long
for Bread Pudding and finally made it today.
We both thought it was very good.
Put it on my Recipe blog HERE if you care to take a look.

I've been working on making weave-it squares and have almost half finished
of them for another baby blanket.

It was another summer like day and we sure are enjoying it before
the snows come. (Though I do like the snow too)

That's all for today.

Wednesday

Just like yesterday morning it was 55 degrees when I left on my walk.
No wind, calm and clear.
The sun was just coming over the mountain when I left to go back home.

Another walk all over town and around both cemeteries and
the ball park loop a couple of times.

Saw Lena and Pam walking but they were too far away to talk to.
The old gentleman was sitting on the bench by the bakery
waiting for it to open.

I like to draw in the dew on the mirror.

Walked down to see the bulls.
I noticed under their number tags in their ears they have names.
Pacer and Merlin came away from the group and walked over to the fence
when I started talking to them.
I held my hand flat and put it inside the fence and Pacer sniffed at it.
I'll go back tomorrow and see if they are still there.

Walked 6 miles

🍁🍂    🌤    🙂

Put some chicken in the slow cooker in the morning to use to make
Chicken Quesadillas for supper.

Finally got some of my house cleaning done today.
Sheets washed and hung on the line to dry.
It was like a summer day, sunny in the 70's.

We went to town to the library to pick up a couple of DVD's,
dropped some mail off at the post office and stopped
in at the Dollar General to get a couple of things we forgot
to get yesterday.

Finished reading another book.
A really good one, Don't Lie to Me by Willow Rose.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Tuesday

The morning temperatures have been all over the place lately.
Never know what clothes I'll be wearing from one morning to the next.
It was up to 57 degrees this morning.
Calm and cloudy.

Driving to town I had to stop three times for deer crossings.

Another walk all over town and around the cemeteries and
the ball park loops twice.

Saw the old gentleman making his way over to the bakery.
Another man walking his friendly big white dog,
and Rebecca was out running.

Walked past these front steps with unusual colored pumpkins on them.
Gray - first time I've seen gray pumpkins.

This might sound strange but
walking along I became aware of all the different smells around me.
Delicious smells coming from the bakery.
Breakfast cooking passing a house.
The smell from a clothes dryer vent.
Over heated brakes from a truck that just came down the hill.
Pine tree smell along the back of the ball park loop.
The not pleasant smell of a skunk
and the manure spread on the fields.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🙂   🍁🍂

Shopping day at Shop and Save this morning.
Got the ingredients to make Broccoli Cheese Soup for supper.
It is one of my favorites and easy to make.

It's been cloudy all day till about 5:00 when we saw a bit of sun.
It was late but better than no sun at all.

I spent most of the day reading and didn't get any house
work done today either.
Better do some tomorrow!!

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Tuesday to you.

Not concerned about bears.  Like I've said before, I'm more concerned about dogs running loose.

Load of scrap metal

Back up to 50 degrees this morning when I left on my walk.
No wind and it was cloudy.
Didn't see the usual deer on the drive to town but did see
one of the bear cubs again in the middle of the road.
Had to stop and then it ran into the woods.

Walked all over town, up and down the main road and side streets.
Went around both cemeteries and the ball park loops twice.

Saw the Heron flying by as I walked up to the cemetery.
Actually I heard it before I saw it.
It only comes around on rare occasions.

Took a picture of it but it was just too far away and it is just a dot
in this picture. It's on the right about half way up.

Lena and Pam were out walking this morning too.

Half of my walk is now in the dark.
At least in a couple of weeks when we change the clocks back
to normal it will be lighter again in the morning.
At least for a little while.

31 degrees with a slight breeze.
Was nice when the sun made its appearance in town.

No one about on this early Saturday morning as I walked all over town.
Went over to the industrial park and walked around there too.

A few pictures along the way.

A beautiful sunny day all day though a bit cool.
A perfect fall day.

In the morning I got some more wash hung out on the line.
I can't believe how much laundry accumulates for just two people.

Late morning I joined Ken up at the tractor barn.
He got more clearing out done and we have another truck load
of metal to take to the recycling place.
I had two fire barrels going burning up LOTS of scrap wood.
Some of it from an old deck we had at the house in town.
We saved the wood and have been using bits of it over the years
but nothing good left to use anymore.
Took a lunch break and went back to work till 3:00.

We had Spinach Bean Soup for supper which I made this morning.
