Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Potholders

40 degrees and raining when I started out walking.
A bit of a breeze too.
Sunrise 7:18
Walked 6 miles

Walked around town first till it got light, then walked around the
ball park a few times.  More walking up and down the side
roads in town and then around the cemeteries.

It rained the first three miles and the last three miles
it was just cloudy.
On the way home it started raining again.

Lines of rolled hay in the distance.

New color truck at the dealership in town.
Certainly NOT my choice of color.

No one else out walking that I saw but did see Phil the Wiggle Man
and stopped to talk to him.
Saturday at the firehouse Santa will be there to have
breakfast with the kids in town.
Phil will be an elf that day.
He'll make a terrific elf.

๐ŸŒง    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ˜Š

Rained pretty hard at times today and windy too.
The sun came out in the afternoon.

Hadn't planed to but right after breakfast I put a couple pieces
in the puzzle and ended up staying 2 hours.

Then got a few house chores finished.

After lunch I baked the last batch of Welsh Cookies for
the bake/cookie sale on Saturday.

Did a little knitting and reading too.
Though I like the book, One More Sunrise, that I'm reading,
I won't be reading the other two books in the trilogy.
It is a bit too Hallmarky. (I made up that word)
Very predictable and so unrealistic.

Thanks for visiting.

Ann - Yes, I'll be making cut out Christmas cookies for the next Blankets for Babies
work day in December.  We will work on the blankets and then have lunch and an ornament exchange.

Deb - I put the potholders on the wall near the ceiling.
The cow picture is one of the two jigsaw puzzles we've done and glued together.

One Fine Day

37 degrees this morning, cloudy but happy to say dry!!
Sunrise 7:17
Walked 6 miles

I start my walk again walking up and down the main street
because it is dark and I walk under the street lights.
Made a stop at the library to put a book down the book drop.

Continued on up to the upper cemetery and walked around it.
Then over to the ball park.

The old rusty fence around the ball field has been taken
down and a new one will be put up.

Walked back through town again and down the side road.

Lastly I walked around the lower cemetery.
While walking there I saw Kitcat up ahead and called,
Hey Kitcat!!
He stopped, turned around, and came back to me for his
pet and scratch.  He sure knows his name.

Rebecca was out this morning.  Not walking this time but running.

Work has continued again on the sheds - one has the roof on it.

☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ˜Š

The sun came out enough for me to hang the sheets to dry
out on the line.

We went to Casslemans this week for food shopping.
I picked up a couple 5 lb bags of flour and also bread flour.
They were on sale for just a little over $2 each.
I spotted these Christmas cookie cutters and bought them.

The other day I bought a potholder for my collection at the Dollar General.

Ken and I went for a walk around Happy Trails this afternoon.
What a blessing it is to have our own personal woods to walk in.

That's Ken in the distance.

We had chili again for supper, but this time just a bowl of
it with corn bread that I made.

Reading, knitting, puzzling, and ice cream to look forward to this evening.

Thanks for stopping by.

Monday

When I got up this morning it was 35 degrees and
pouring down rain.
It was supposed to be stopping so I decided to wait awhile.
While waiting I got a crock pot of chili going and read my Bible.
7:30 the rain looked like it was stopping so got into my walking
clothes and left for town in the Jeep at 7:45.
It was still 35 degrees and though the rain did stop it
was still misty and all of my walk was in the mist.
Sunrise 7:16
Walked 6 miles

Walked up the hill to the cemetery on the hill and around it first.

The field behind the cemetery has cows in it now.
A few came to see me.
I think these cows are the ones the huge barn was built for.

Didn't go down to see the bulls because it was so muddy!!!

Next I walked over to the ball park and walked around there a few times
around town and the other cemetery.
Through town once again and back to the Jeep.

There must be no school today because didn't see any buses.

No people or workers about.
A quiet walk around town.
Sure glad I was able to walk outside!!

๐ŸŒง    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ™‚

All day it's been a dreary misty day
so a good day for baking.
I baked another batch of Welsh Cookies for the Drane house
cookie/bake sale on Saturday.
I still have one more batch to bake and then I'll be done.
They get dropped off at the town hall Friday.

Started reading the first book of a trilogy,
One More Sunrise by Al and Joanna Lacy
about frontier doctors out west in the 1880's.
They are Christian writers.
So far I'm liking the book!!!
I got all three books out of the library.

We had taco salad for supper using the chili from the crock pot.
Pretty good stuff.

This evening I'm going back to having ice cream for my snack.
Since Thanksgiving I've been having pumpkin pie.
Will also knit more on the ripple afghan and read some more.

Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Monday

Sunday

 Happy Sunday

A couple of sky pictures from the past week.

๐ŸŒง    ☁️    ๐Ÿ˜Š

You know how you get a song in your head that you keep singing?
All week I've been singing the chorus of a hymn we sing at church.

Thank You Lord
Seth and Bessie Sykes
๐ŸŽถ Thank you Lord for saving my soul. ๐ŸŽถ
Thank you Lord for making me whole.
Thank you Lord for giving to me,
Thy great salvation so rich and free.

These are the three verses of the hymn.

1.  Some thank the Lord for friends and home,
For mercies sure and sweet.
But I would praise Him for His grace
In prayer I would repeat.

2.  Some thank Him for the flowers that grow,
Some for the stars that shine.
My heart is filled with joy and praise
Because I know He's mine.

3.  I trust in Him from day to day,
I prove His saving grace,
I'll sing this song of praise to Him,
Until I see His face.

๐Ÿ“– Romans 10:9 ๐Ÿ“–
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.

๐Ÿ“– I Thessalonians 5:18 ๐Ÿ“–
In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

Sunny Walk

31 degrees this morning, calm, and lots of sunshine.
Walked 6 miles
Sunrise 7:13

First walked around both cemeteries and ball park.
Headed over to the Dollar General where I turned around in the
parking lot and then walked back through town up and down
the side streets.

Very quiet in town and didn't see anyone else out.
Not many cars passing through either.

Sure nice to be walking in the sunshine.

A year or so ago one early Sunday morning when I was walking through town
I saw a man in front of the car dealers jumping around and acting odd.
It looked to me like he was pretending to be a cars salesman.
He was yelling about car specials and prices.
I avoided walking past him and went down another road.
A few days later I saw this same man inside the car dealership at a desk
and he waved to me as I walked by which he did most days afterward.
Turns out he was making a FB Video when I happened to
see him that first time. (Have seen him many times since)
He is known as the Wiggle Man

I learned his name was Phil when we stopped to chat a while back.
I told him about the first time I saw him and thought he was crazy.
He had a good laugh about it.

☀️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ˜Š

The library opens at 9:00 on Saturdays and we were there
a little later to drop off some books and a DVD.
Picked up another DVD and two books for me.

From there we went the dump and got rid of our garbage.

Last stop was the Dollar General before going back home.

Finished the Decembers baby blanket yesterday.
That was record time - took only 10 days.
Now I'm back to knitting the ripple afghan until I start
on the next baby blanket.

We've had our fill of turkey and today we are back to pizza for supper.

Thanks for poppin' in for a visit.

No, haven't started any Christmas decorating yet. Probably won't till two weeks before.

A Rainy Walk

44 degrees this morning and a wet walk for me.
Rained the whole time I was out there.
Walked 5.2 miles
Sunrise 7:12

Walked up and town the main road in town and behind our old
house in town.
Went around the ball park loop a few times.

Continued walking around town up and down the side streets.
Pretty quiet around town again but I did see Lisa and we stopped
to talk a little bit.

Even with my rain slicker and rain pants I still got pretty wet.
The rain gear is good for the first 3 miles but then water
starts dripping down my face and neck which gets my shirt wet.
The wind started picking up which made me chilly.
I can't wear the layers I would like to under my rain slicker because
it is not big enough.
Really need to get a bigger one to accommodate layers.

Still glad I was able to walk outside even in the rain.
I tell you though, it was sure nice to get home to a dry warm house.

๐ŸŒง    ๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐Ÿฅพ

David and Liz came over yesterday bearing gifts.
I had a Christmas cactus some years back but it died so I was so
pleased to receive this new one.
Also they brought us a scented candle which is alway nice to get.
Both gifts were totally unexpected so made them extra special.

The gifts were SO nice but Liz gave me another gift as well.
After we finished eating, she told me to stay sitting and she did
the dishes and we don't have a dishwasher.
Now don't you think she is wonderful.
❤️I love this girl.❤️

๐Ÿ™‚    ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a nice lazy day this day after Thanksgiving.
No cooking today - just left overs.

Started reading another book.
Sewed another row on the baby blanket.
Just one more row to go and I'll probably start on it later this evening.
Decided to start another jigsaw puzzle.
This one we've done before.
Fun but a bit of a challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Friday

Turkey Day

 Happy Thanksgiving

33 degrees this morning when I went walking.
It was calm and sunny.
Sunrise 7:12
Walked 5.7 miles

I saw Rebecca walking Leo and Lisa and Dwayne walking.
Otherwise town was deserted.
Only a handful of cars drove by.

Walked down the main road through town and down to the curve
in the road where I turned around and headed back.

Took a detour around the industrial park and then back to the pond.
Once around the lower cemetery and that ended my walk.

Thankful for an early morning walk, watching the sunrise, and
for a brand new day.

๐Ÿฆƒ    ☀️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ˜Š

Got the turkey in the oven, the table set and a few other
things ready before David and Liz came over.
Enjoyed the day and time spent with David and Liz.
Of course we ate too much but you have to expect that on Thanksgiving.
It's been a wonderful day and for that I am thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving
and thanks for visiting.

Oh no the pie

This morning it was 30 degrees and again
calm and sunny.
Though the sun rises at 7:11 the sun doesn't come to town till 7:45.

Walked around the upper cemetery a few times and then
up and down the main road in town.

The Christmas decorations have been put in up along the main road in town.
A different decoration is put up by all the street lights.
There are about 12 or 14 of them.
Here's a sampling.

Walked around the ball park loop.

Continued back through town and over to the lower cemetery
and walked around there a couple of times.

The lot that was sold now has a little Christmas tree in a
pot sitting there.

One last trip around town and my walk was done.

Didn't see anyone else out.

Walked 6.1 miles

☀️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ™‚    ๐Ÿฆƒ

Made my two pumpkin pies first thing this morning.
Had a little bit of a disaster.
Made the two pie crusts and they turned out perfect.
Mixed up the filling and poured it into both of the shells.
The disaster came as I was putting the first pie in the oven.
Had it on the shelf and tried to push it back a bit when some
some of the filling overflowed onto the oven.
What a mess.
Took the pie out, waited for the oven to cool and then had to
clean the mess up.
Not enough of the filling came out to notice so just preheated
the oven again and this time I asked Ken to put the pies
in the oven for me.
He did without a problem and the pies baked just fine.
I had a little extra crust so I made this little blueberry pie.

I made some Meringue Cookies.
Added a couple drops of peppermint and they were like after dinner mints.

I washed a couple more windows this afternoon.
Then enjoyed sitting down and reading for a while.
Ken made us Hot Ham and Cheese sandwiches for supper.
Nice I didn't have to worry about supper.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
Happy Wednesday day.

Tuesday

27 degrees this morning for walking.
No wind and it was sunny.
Sunrise 7:10
Walked 6 miles

Drove the Jeep to town this morning and walked around town.
Started out up the hill to the cemetery and KitCat was walking up that road too.
When I said Hi there KitCat, he turned around came to see me.
Gave him his usual pet and scratch under his chin.
He followed me a ways up the hill and then went his own way.

Went around the cemetery and then to see the bulls.
They didn't even get up to see me today.

Continued walking to the ball park and walked around there
and then back to the other cemetery and a couple loops around it.

Continued walking up the other side of town, past our old house,
and back again.

Saw both Lisa and Joy walking and stopped to talk each of them.
Joy, I saw twice.

Funny story about me walking in the cold.
Some years ago when we lived in town I got up and the thermometer
read 11 degrees and it was also snowing.
I put on an extra layer and out the door I went.
Though I wasn't too cold, it was a bit colder than I thought.
About this time I see Ken coming down the road in the car.
He stopped and said, Get in the car, it is too cold for you to be out
here walking.
I said it's 11 degrees.
He said no it isn't, it's MINUS 1.
I had read the thermometer wrong!!
So I hopped in the car and went home to a nice warm house.

☀️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐Ÿฆƒ

Ken went to the Shop and Save alone this morning.
I wanted to get started on cleaning the bathroom.
If I go out when I get home, don't feel like cleaning.
Washed the French door windows.
The sun shines on them in the afternoon and didn't want to be eating
turkey and have to look at dirty windows.

All the cleaning is done so tomorrow I can concentrate
on baking and getting ready for the big day.

Thanks for popping in for a visit.
Happy Tuesday

Back to outside

15 degrees when I left the house on my walk this morning.
It was calm and sunny.
Sunrise  7:08
Walked 5.8 miles

Left the Jeep at home and walked to town.
It is 2 miles to town so figured if the sidewalks and side roads
were icy in town at least I could walk a good 4 miles or so.

Once in town I saw that MOST of the sidewalks and side streets
were clear and so it was good for walking.

The pond has a light coating of ice on it.

Walked around the cemetery on top of the hill and through town.

Didn't see anyone else out walking but then I wasn't in town
for very long.

Then headed the last 2 miles back home.

Nice to walk outside again.

๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐Ÿฅพ    ☀️

Got started on this weeks housework.
Dusted, vacuumed, and cleaned the half bath.

Putting some silverware away I noticed that the drawer and
tray could use a cleaning so took care of that.

Went over the menu for Thanksgiving and all is good.
I'll make the pies on Wednesday.
David and Liz will be joining us for turkey day.

Had a nice big salad for supper topped with cut up chicken.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sunday

A sunrise from the beginning of the week.

Thursday at Blankets for Babies I gave the devotional and since
it was near to Thanksgiving it was about being thankful.
I took each letter in the word
T H A N K F U L
and said what I was thankful for.

T

I am thankful for the TIME that God has given me on this earth.
TIME to enjoy the beautiful earth He has created for us.
I am thankful for the
TIME spent in reading God's Word and praying.

H

I am thankful that God has prepared a place for me in HEAVEN
and HEAVEN awaits me when I leave this Earth.

Revelation 4:21
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away.

A

I am thankful for the ANGELS that God sends to help and protect me.

Psalms 91:11
For he shall give his ANGELS charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways.

N

I am thankful that God supplies all my NEEDS.
Not wants but  NEEDS.

Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your NEED
according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

K

I am thankful for God's KINDNESS towards me.

Titus 3:4-5a
But after that the KINDNESS and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us.

F

I am thankful for the FAITHFULNESS of God.
Through good and bad times God has always been there for me.

Psalm 89:1
I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever:
with my mouth will I make known thy FAITHFULNESS to all generations.
For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever:
thy FAITHFULNESS shalt thou establish in the very heavens.

U

I am thankful for the UNDERSTANDING of God.
He knows me better than I know myself and He UNDERSTANDS
my strengths and weaknesses.

Psalm 147:5
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his UNDERSTANDING is infinite.

L

Last of the letters but the thing I'm most thankful for is
God's LOVE.

John 3:16-17
For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.

God LOVED me and you so much that He sent Jesus to forgive us
our sins and die in our place so that you and I
might live forever in Heaven.

Thanks so much for visiting.
A Blessed Sunday to all.
Jesus LOVES YOU❤️

Day 3 in the basement

Day 3 of walking in the basement.

We went outside this morning to shovel the driveway and
realized we didn't have to.
It is hilly and with all the wind there wasn't much snow there
so we decided to just drive over it.

Though it was cold the sun came out today which made it so nice.

Stopped off at the Library to drop off a couple of books and DVD's
and checked out a few DVD's to watch this week.

Next stop the Dollar General.  It was closed for a few days
because there was no heat but today the heat was back on
and open again.

I've been going great on the December Baby Blanket.
Already have 4 rows done and sewn together and only started
it a few days ago.

I made hamburgers for supper and Ken was going to cook them outside
but the wood was too wet and couldn't get a fire started,
so cooked I them inside on the griddle.
Also had French fries made in the air fryer.

That's it for today.
Thanks for popping in for a visit.

Basement

Another icy morning so once again it was walking in
the basement for me.

Didn't take a picture of Ken's train layout but this is his work
space in the corner of the basement.

๐ŸŒจ    ๐Ÿ™‚    ๐ŸŒจ

Started working on the puzzle and kept going till we finished it
so we had a pretty lazy day.
It was a fun puzzle to do.

Started snowing again this afternoon.
Picture in back and front of house.

We were going to go to the library but decided to stay home
in the nice warm cozy house.

I read a little in the afternoon and made a few squares.
Have the first 3 rows done on the baby blanket already.
7 more to go.
Decided to go with the red, green, and white colors for Christmas.

Friday so we made pizza for supper.
It's still snowing as I type this so I'm pretty sure
I'll be walking in the basement again tomorrow.

Thanks for popping in for a visit.

A surprise Thank You

Today was one of those times I didn't get to walk.
It was 22 degrees and though the cold doesn't keep me from walking
ice does and everywhere it was wet yesterday is now icy.
So it was down in the basement for walking today.

Left the house at 9:00 and went to church for a
Blankets for Babies work morning.
Main road was clear but side roads were snow and icy in spots.
There were 7 of us working on blankets this morning.
Marilyn brought breakfast and I did the devotional.

I picked up the cupcake containers that I brought the money cupcakes
to church in while I was there.
When I got home there was a Thank You note tucked inside
one of the containers.
It was so unexpected and touched my heart.

Didn't do much of anything this afternoon.
Worked a little on the puzzle and made some
weave-it squares.

Thanks for stopping by.

Afghan progress

It was cloudy, windy, and 33 degrees when I started walking.
Wasn't sure about walking conditions in town but it was
just wet and some slushy snow on some of the sidewalks.
Sunrise 7:02
Walked 6.1 miles

Had a few snow showers after a mile or so.
There may of been some frozen rain mixed in there too.

Walked around both cemeteries and continued walking

to the ball park and went around there a couple of extra times.
Walked around town some and then I went back to the cemetery
on the hill and walked around there again.

It is hard to see but there are quite a few geese sitting in this field,
you will have to enlarge to see.

Remember those trusses that were sitting there for ever so long.
They were used for the roofs in the sheds that are getting fixed.
It was just the top of the boards that were looking bad because
the other side looks fine.
Glad they finally getting used used!!!

No one else about walking that I saw today.

When I got back to the Jeep the temperature had dropped a
couple of degrees.

☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐ŸŒจ    ๐Ÿ˜Š

Baking day again and this time I made
Pumpkin Bread.
Like this recipe because it makes three loaves.
One for us.
One for Thanksgiving.
One for David and Liz to take home.

I've put aside the Ripple Afghan I'm knitting for a little while
to start working on the baby blanket for December.

This is what I've done on the afghan so far.

Deciding what colors to use for the December baby blanket.
Thinking Green, Red, and white, but haven't made my mind up yet.

It was supposed to snow this afternoon again but it just
stayed cloudy and windy.
Stayed inside again and read and worked on the puzzle.

That all I have.
Thanks for stopping by.
Make your day a good one.
