Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Oh no the pie

This morning it was 30 degrees and again
calm and sunny.
Though the sun rises at 7:11 the sun doesn't come to town till 7:45.

Walked around the upper cemetery a few times and then
up and down the main road in town.

The Christmas decorations have been put in up along the main road in town.
A different decoration is put up by all the street lights.
There are about 12 or 14 of them.
Here's a sampling.

Walked around the ball park loop.

Continued back through town and over to the lower cemetery
and walked around there a couple of times.

The lot that was sold now has a little Christmas tree in a
pot sitting there.

One last trip around town and my walk was done.

Didn't see anyone else out.

Walked 6.1 miles

Made my two pumpkin pies first thing this morning.
Had a little bit of a disaster.
Made the two pie crusts and they turned out perfect.
Mixed up the filling and poured it into both of the shells.
The disaster came as I was putting the first pie in the oven.
Had it on the shelf and tried to push it back a bit when some
some of the filling overflowed onto the oven.
What a mess.
Took the pie out, waited for the oven to cool and then had to
clean the mess up.
Not enough of the filling came out to notice so just preheated
the oven again and this time I asked Ken to put the pies
in the oven for me.
He did without a problem and the pies baked just fine.
I had a little extra crust so I made this little blueberry pie.

I made some Meringue Cookies.
Added a couple drops of peppermint and they were like after dinner mints.

I washed a couple more windows this afternoon.
Then enjoyed sitting down and reading for a while.
Ken made us Hot Ham and Cheese sandwiches for supper.
Nice I didn't have to worry about supper.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
Happy Wednesday day.

I love merangues, and I bet your homemade ones are so much better than the ones I buy. What a cute little tree, I hope no one steals it. It is a sign that the new neighbors will be nice.

Hi Karen. Your pies look delicious! Charly baked pies for our dinner with our daughter. That's so cute that the people who bought the vacant lot are decorating it and have put up a little Christmas tree. I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving at your home. I know you will! See you again soon.

They look fabulous. I am sorry there was a spill...always something! I overbaked my pie. I am pretty sure that it will be like eating a brick. 😏

I like the sweet decorations in your town. I can't remember what the decorations are in my town.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day!

I'm glad the pies were ok!
I like the little Christmas tree on the lot.
Our town puts up lights all down the main street and they went up last week. It really looks pretty and a lot of people drive to see them.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Forgotten Cookies....I like the name of them and the recipe sounds super easy. Now I just have to find a different recipe. One that asks for 2 egg yolks.
I'm glad the pumpkin filling didn't slosh over too badly. I've had that happen too.

Your pies look delish - Oh I've done that before as well and it is a mess. Just time-consuming, having to clean it up.

I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Hey Karen. It's a little late in the day but wanted to say a special Happy Thanksgiving. I hate you had a mess to clean up with the pies. I've done that very thing and what a mess. Yesterday I started out the front door with a pan full of scraps for the chickens and the compost. I dropped the chicken scraps and of course the pan turned upside down on the dining room run. I just stood there looking then though, you better move! That was a mess too!Your pies look delicious! You must be a really good cook, you and Ken too.
