Rainy Walk

38 degrees this morning when I started walking.
It was windy with a cold rain.
Had to stop on the way to town to let 6 deer cross the road.
They were not in a hurry and just sauntered along.

No walking pictures today.
My phone was in an inside pocket of my rain slicker and
never took it out of my pocket.

Remember that elaborate tombstone from the other day?
That same day I took this picture too.
This is the most simple tombstone in the cemetery and
probably the first.  The Drane house is where he lived.
James Drane
1820

A newer tombstone was put up but the words have eroded from that
one as well.  His wife Priscilla is buried here too.

Rained the whole of my walk and the umbrella was useless
because of the wind.

Not surprisingly didn't see anyone else out and the only person
I saw out of a vehicle was a man walking from his car to the
garage in town where he works.

Had a random walk all over town.
When I started out thought I'd just walk 4 or 5 miles
because of the weather but by the time I got back to the
Jeep and looked at my pedometer saw that I had
walked 6.3 miles.

🌧    🙂    🌧

Monday again and time to start the housework for the week.
Got a good start on this rainy day.

A good day to do some more work on the puzzle.
Made some weave-it squares and almost have enough for
another baby blanket.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Monday to you.

Wreath Cross

Liked this Wreath Cross at the church in town.

🎶 At The Cross 🎶

Isaac Watts

1. Alas, and did my Savior bleed,
And did my Sov'reign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?

Chorus
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I receive my sight,
And now I am happy all the day.

2.  Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity, grace, unknown,
And love beyond degree.

3. Well might the sun in darkness hide,
And shut His glories in
When Christ, the mighty Maker died
For man, the creature's sin.

4.  Thus might I hide my blushing face
While Calv'ry's cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt mine eyes to tears.

5. But drops of grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away,
Tis all that I can do.

🎶    🎶    🎶

A beautiful sunny 30 degree for my walk today.
Usually don't see anyone out walking Sunday mornings
but today 5 people out walking their dogs!!
Happy to say all of them were on leashes.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

Cheri - No, I don't ever get bored walking. It's just something I love to do.  Every day is something different. I know so many people from town just because I walk.  Nice to see whats going on in town. I have lots of waving and beeping friends who wave to me from cars and trucks as they pass by. Then there are the bulls, deer, horses and all the other animals I see. Morning is my favorite time of day and walking I get to see a new day begin every day.
Guess I got a bit carried away on answering your question. 🙂

Picked out the tree

Another cloudy morning and no wind when I started walking.
39 degrees
Sunrise 7:16

Walked all over town and then around the industrial park.

Then headed over to the ball park and walked around there.

Today I didn't see anyone at all out.
Heard quite a few gun shots - hunters.
Also heard the unmistakable cry of some coyotes.

Nearing the end of my walk some blue sky started to appear.

Sure was a quiet morning!!

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🙂    ⛅️

The sun came out and there was a bit of a breeze,
a perfect day to hang the wash out to dry.

After lunch Ken and I walked around out back for a while.
We went to see if we could find a Christmas tree to cut down.
We found a cute little Charley Brown tree.
Will go back next week to get it.
Sun kind of washed the picture out but this is the tree.

Nice being outside walking around in the crisp sunny air.
When we went back inside had a nice hot cup of tea.

The rest of the afternoon I puzzled and read.

Happy Saturday to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Friday

A cloudy morning walk but no wind and 42 degrees.
Quiet around town this morning,
the bakery, the childcare, and the lumber yard were all closed.
Walked all over town,
around the cemeteries, the ball park and over to the
Dollar General where I turned around and walked back to the Jeep.

Saw the man walking his little dog around the ball park again.

A new tombstone was put up in the cemetery at the top of the hill.
Pretty elaborate don't you think.
Have never seen one so detailed before, even the pets are mentioned.
Just an observation but there is no mention of God.

Saw this one heart hanging on a branch and it made me think of you Anni,
so took the picture for you.

Just been hanging around the house this day after Thanksgiving
and eating too many leftovers.

Worked on the puzzle, read, and
watched Ken play his Snow Runner game.

Don't usually put any Christmas decorations up till December
but today I got the mantel decorated.
I put up a white sheet to make it look like snow and then
added my 5 piece little village with some pine trees that I made
a while ago. (made the trees not the village)
Then put up a string of red Christmas lights.
Thought it all turned out pretty nice.

That's been my day.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

Thanksgiving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

It was a cloudy morning but calm and 45 degrees
on my walk.
It had rained during the night and stopped just before
I left the house.  Wore my rain paints and yellow slicker
just in case of a shower but no need for them.
Saw a skunk on the drive to town run across the street.

A quiet walk around town and only saw a handful of cars.
Walked up and down all the streets.

Didn't think I'd see anyone and then near the end of walking saw
Lena around the ball park and then saw the man who walks his
little dog around the ball park too.

Nice being out early morning walking and watching a new day start.

Made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.
I usually buy dinner rolls but we forgot to get them
so I made biscuits this year.  They turned out great.

Ken and I enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings.
We ate at 1:30 and had to wait for later for Pumpkin Pie
because we were too full.

Here is the next jigsaw puzzle we have started.
This one will be a bit of a challenge.

Farm Loop Walk and Pie

35 degrees this morning, calm, and a mix of sun and clouds
when I was walking.

Parked the Jeep in the parking lot by the pond as usual.
Instead of walking around town I decided to walk around the Farm Loop.

Walked right through down and out the other end
and this is Farm Number One I came to.
The barn is right on the main road and I turn left there
to begin the loop.

Farm Number Two is Farmer Bill's farm.

Oscar the dog lives here and he came out to greet me.
Followed me to the end of the farm and then went back home.

I turn left just after the farm, walk a while
and come to Farm Number Three.
This is Farmer Gene's farm.

Gene 's daughter married the son of the farmer next door
(don't know their names)
and this is Farm Number Four where they live.

The Dairy Farm is Number Five on the way and the last one on
the road before getting to the school.

I turn left at the school and walk down the hill back to town.
On the way is Farm Number Six which is where the bulls live and
is the farm of Farmer Marvin and just
posted a similar picture the other day.

His farm goes behind the cemeteries too and has another barn
over that way - the barn that I take pictures of from the cemetery
and the main road coming to town.

The loop I walked from the Jeep back to the Jeep again
was 4.8 miles.
The rest of my walk was around the cemetery up at the top of the hill
a few times for a total of 6.2 miles.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.
A peaceful, beautiful, wonderful walk
for which I am truly Thankful.

🥾   ⛅️    🚜    🙂

We put all our trash in the back of the truck and made a
trip to the dump.  First time in the new truck.

I baked our pumpkin pie for tomorrow.
The last few years I've used a ready made crust but today
went back to making homemade pie crust.
The crust and pie came out perfect.
That's because I don't have to bring it anywhere and no one
but Ken and I will be eating it.
I had the pie recipe on my recipe blog already but this pie came
our looking better so changed the pie picture to todays pie.
You can find the Pumpkin Pie recipe HERE.

The Pie Crust recipe I just added today
and you can find that one HERE.

There was some pie crust and pie filling left over like there usually
is and I made a cute little pie in a custard cup.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hope your day was a happy one.

A Beautiful Wreath

23 degrees this morning, no wind at all, and once the sun
came up it stayed out while I walked.
(Did cloud up later in the day)

A random walk around town this morning up and down all the streets
and around both cemeteries and the ball park.
Quite a heavy frost this morning.

Saw RuthAnn out walking her two little dogs.
She works in town and it was her I used to drop those water bills
off to when walking when we lived in town.

Nice to be walking in the sunshine.

Walked 6.2 miles

🌤    🙂    🌤

Off to the Shop and Save this morning right after breakfast.
More people there than usual, shopping for Thanksgiving.

Baked another batch of pumpkin bread this afternoon.

A few weeks ago Blogger friend Tom asked for my address because he wanted
to make a Christmas wreath for us.
It was delivered today.
It is beautiful and I LOVE it.
Thanks So Much Tom!!
We hung it up inside above the mantel because if we had hung it
up on the front door we wouldn't get to see it much.
This way inside I can see it all day long.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.

Another Puzzle

34 degrees this morning when I left the house to drive to town.
Nice to see some deer this morning - 6 of them.
It was cloudy and just a slight breeze.
That changed once I started walking.

Planned out a walking route all around town and stuck to it again.
A few minutes after I started walking down the main road
it started snowing.  Just a few flurries at first and then it came down
fast for a couple of miles.

It eventually stopped for a while and then the last mile it
started up again. A wind kicked up too.
It was unexpected - glad it was snow though and not rain because
I would have gotten soaked.  At least the snow I could just brush off.

This barn is up behind the house where we lived in town.

Geese were out in the road again when I walked up to the cemetery.
They didn't fly off this time.  Just took their time walking
into the field.

Didn't see anyone else out walking but the town workers were out
along the main road putting up the town Christmas decorations.

Overshot the 6 mile aim just a bit and
walked 6.3 miles.

🌨    🙂    ☁️

Snow stopped soon after I got back home and by the afternoon
it was completely gone.

Home today like most days and kept busy around the house.

Took the snowman puzzle apart and put it away for another time.
Was going to wait until Friday to start another one because
wanted the table to be cleared for Thanksgiving.
But then I decided to do one of the small ones.
Just 300 pieces.
Ended up doing the whole puzzle.
It was an easy one and only took me 1 1/2 hours to complete.
Love the picture.  I could see myself living in that cottage.

Really will wait until after Thanksgiving to start the next one.
At least till we eat and the table is cleared.

That's all I've got for today.
Hope your day was a healthy and happy one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Saturday

50 degrees this morning, cloudy, and a couple of times a little misty
when I walked.

When I start walking I usually have a route planned out but
rarely stick to it.  Today I stuck to the planned route and it was exactly
six miles. Usually when I get back to the car there is still a couple
of tenths to walk to make it to the six mile mark.

Started out going around both of the cemeteries,
and down to visit the bulls.

Then my route took me up to the school.
This is another angle of the barn where the bulls live.

Just getting to the school here. School is across the street.
Another farm pond and if you look close can see geese on it.

This  is the back of the Dairy Farm I walk pass
when walking the Farm Loop.
Picture was taken in the field behind the school.

Continued my walk back down the hill and over to the ball park.
Around there a couple of times and then down the main road
to the Dollar General.
Then back to the car.

Very quiet around town, no one about today.
Another enjoyable walk.
Walked 6 miles
Found a dime

☁️    🙂    💰

Another fried toast breakfast.
Then it was off to the Dollar General.
My second time there today only this time I didn't walk there,
it was open, and I went inside. 🙂

IT's been a dreary, cloudy day with periods of mist.
Did a couple of house chores and then read,
and made a few red weave-it squares.
Then there was the puzzle to work on. 🧩
Planning on staying up tonight till I finish it.
Will let you know tomorrow if it gets done.

That's all for today.

Busy Town

Warmed up this morning, it was 50 degrees when I
left walking. Very windy and sunny once the sun rose.

Barn just at the edge of town.

Walked all over town in all the usual places.

While I was walking around the cemetery on top of the hill,
A guy drove up in this truck and unloaded the digger.
We said good morning and commented on the wind.
Next time around he had started digging the grave.
Then I left and walked to the ball park.

Saw the woman I see once in a while walking and since she wasn't
far away this time we said good morning as we passed by.
Funny how I meet people walking.
First we pass and just say good morning and do that for a few times.
Then after a while say a few more words passing by.
Eventually we stop and introduce ourselves and have a little chat.
And bingo another walking friend. 🙂 🚶‍♀️

The house you see through the trees is the one that is for sale
down the tree lined driveway in yesterdays post.
Took the picture walking around the ball park loop.
In the summer you can't see the house.

Saw my friend George leaving the bakery with a box of donuts. 🍩
He asked if I wanted one.
Oh no, I said, I'd have to walk another few miles to work off
all those calories.

Workers were finishing the work on the apartment building
in town (the old school) that was started a while ago.
It got a new roof and little porches with overhangs at the entrances.
New gutters were being put on today.

Also saw an older couple walking around the car dealer looking
at all the cars. 🚗 🚙 🚘

Lots going on around town early this morning.

Enjoyed my town walk.
Walked 6 miles

☀️    🙂    ☀️

The only work I did today besides what I HAD to do,
was clean the shower and put up a new shower curtain liner.
Other than that it was pretty much a puzzle day.
Even supper was easy - frozen Digiorno Pizza.

Hope all is well with you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Big Can of Pumpkin

22 degrees when I started out walking this
morning, no wind, with nice clear crisp air,
and sunny once the sun rose.
By the time I was back home it was already 32 degrees.

Walked all over town including all my usual loops.

Walking to one of the cemeteries down this road.
This was the only road that had a bit of ice on it.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.
Walked down to say Good Morning to the bulls.

I've posted a picture of this tree lined driveway before and always
wanted to walk down it.

The house down this driveway is now for sale and it is empty
so I figured I could walk down and look around.
You can see the house from the ball park when the leaves are
off the trees.

I was surprised to see this nice little pond.

The house is off to the left and is a nice brick ranch home.
This property is over 4 acres.
So quiet and peaceful back here.
What a great little hideaway.

Walked 6 miles

☀️   🙂    ☀️

Got the sheets washed and hung out on the line and then
did a little housework.

We packed a lunch and took a little ride in the new truck.
Stopped to eat lunch while out.

Baked Pumpkin Bread (recipe makes 3 loafs) this afternoon.
Used 2 cups of pumpkin out of this number 10 can.
Isn't that some big can of pumpkin!!
We bought it because it was much cheaper than buying
3 cans of the size on top of the big one.

I put what was left in the refrigerator in 2 plastic containers.
Plan on making another batch of pumpkin bread and a couple
of pies.  Pumpkin still left? - will find more pumpkin recipes.
Just read that you can freeze canned pumpkin.
It is suggested that it be put in plastic freezer bags and flattened out.

No ice cream this evening - having pumpkin bread.
Tastes great with butter.

That's it for today.

Basement Walk

Our driveway was icy this morning and it was 20 degrees.
Ken persuaded me not to go walking so I did my walking
down in the basement doing laps around the train layout.

Walked 2 miles when I got up
2 miles after breakfast
1 mile before lunch
1 mile after lunch
Have to break it up because that's a lot of loops to walk.
Each loop is 75 steps.
No, haven't figured out how many loops it takes for 6 miles
because I don't want to know!! 🙂
It's a lot!

I didn't get to walk around the cemeteries but did pass by
this one many times.

Well this afternoon was pretty much another puzzle one!
I did knit a little bit too.

This evening for supper I fried up some onions and red peppers
in a little olive oil.
Put them in a burrito shell with rice, salsa and a bit of sour cream.
Haven't had that in a while and it sure was good.

That's all I've got for today.
Hope your Wednesday was a good one.

Jigsaw Puzzle Season Has Begun

34 degrees this morning, cloudy, and windy
when I started walking.
The sky was a pretty pink color.

Walked all over the place in town as usual.
Down by the Drane house the bulls were all there
and some of the horses were by the farm pond again.

Half way into my walk I saw the first few snow flurries and
it stayed that way for a while.
By the time I was walking around the ball park loop it was snowing.
Lena and Jim were walking there too.

I drove home in the snow, not sticking on the roads though.

Walked 6 miles

🌨    🙂    🌨

Did our regular food shopping at the Shop and Save.
Got all the groceries put away and got some other house chores done.

It snowed on and off all day.
Picture taken from the bedroom window.

We finally got some snow so
Jigsaw Puzzle Season has now begun.
Started one of the new ones we just bought.
(all the snowmen)

I got all the pieces right side up on the table and the border done.
Ken didn't do any of the puzzle today but does like doing them too.

If I can stay away from the puzzle this evening I'll
read and maybe knit on my scarf.
Or there is always weave-it squares to make.

Red Ford Ranger

34 degrees when I started walking this morning.
The wind has kicked up again and when the gusts came it
blew me to and fro. 🙂
Was nice to see the sun though.

The wind must have kept people inside because I didn't see
anyone else out.

Walked all over the place in town and around the industrial park.
This road heads up to the school.

Along the road gives you another view of the barn where
the bulls are.
You can also see the Drane House near the farm pond.
A closer look you might be able to make out one of the cemeteries.

This is taken a little farther up the road at the school parking lot.
If you enlarge the photo, look by the church, that little dot in
parking lot is my car a mile away.
You might not be able to make it out.

Walked 6 miles

💨    🙂    ☀️

Made fried bread for breakfast and then we went to the
Dollar General to pick up a few things that are cheaper
there than at the Shop and Save.

Did laundry but it was way too windy to hang it outside so had to
keep it inside and hang the clothes on the drying rack.

Last month I mentioned that we went to look at a new truck.
This afternoon we went back to pick up Ken's new red Ford Ranger.
Traded the white one in.
The new truck is a bit smaller than the white one
and is a better fit in the garage.

Started knitting another scarf and this one is going to be for me.
A pink cotton one with a cable stitch.

We stopped at the library this afternoon to pick up a couple
of books that Ken had on reserve.
Starting Wednesday the library is going back to curb side
pickup for a while because of the spike in the virus in our county.

That's it for today.
A happy Monday to you.
