Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another fine day

Pretty sky this morning but it only lasted a couple of minutes.
If not for walking I'd never have seen it.

Left the house right at 7:00 and walked to town.
It was 28 degrees F, calm and cloudy.
Sunrise 7:25

Saw three deer at the start of my walk just down the road.
Once I got to town, I walked down the main road,
and as I passed the garage, I saw the man from yesterday.
Walked past the post office and passed the day care center,
then up to the cemetery around there.
Back to the main road and home again.
Walked 6 miles

☁️     ☁️     ☁️

Thanks for all the congratulations and well wishes for our anniversary. 🙂

Got my housework done in the morning and that left the
afternoon for fun.

I read, worked on the latest puzzle, and knitted.

Made Cream of Potato Soup for supper.
I made the recipe for Broccoli Cheese Soup but substituted
potatoes and celery for the broccoli.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

48 years

Left the house walking at 7:05 this morning.
Temperature was 23 degrees F and it was cloudy with a light breeze.
Sunrise 7:26

Walked to town again and this time the road to the cemetery up the hill
was clear so I walked up there.
The road in the center of the picture leads to the cemetery.

and here I am walking around the cemetery.

Walked around town and then around the block and headed back home.

No people out again but did see three deer.
School bus driver number 49 has started waving to me too.
Now there are 6 bus drivers who wave regularly.
Arriving home.
  Walked 6 miles

☁️     ☁️     ☁️

Got the usual morning house chores done and late morning we
got in the Jeep and left the house to drive to Morgantown, WV.
Within three miles the Jeep stalled twice so we turned around
and went right to the dealer in town.
Couldn't find anything wrong at first.
Ended up being a simple thing.
When it is time for an oil change in the Jeep a sound is supposed to chime.
Never happened and that is all it was.
The oil was low and it needed to be changed.
They changed it right then and we were off a half hour later.

I walk right past the garage when I walk to town and I usually see
the manager and we say good morning.
He didn't recognize me till I told him I was the walker.
He smiled and said he didn't realize it was me because
I was dressed so different.
As we left he said, "See you in the morning."
Love living in a small town!!

When we got to Morgantown
We had a late lunch/early dinner at Outback
to celebrate our Anniversary.
Very hard to believe it was 48 years ago that we said I Do.
I feel like that should be my age instead of how long
I've been married. 🙂
I thank God every day for Ken.

 🥰     🥰

Afterward we stopped in at Michael's and I picked up
some more yarn on sale.

Went to Lowe's also to look around but didn't buy anything.

Took apart the puzzle we finished and have started another.
Rose - Going to do this puzzle NOT doing the border first. 🙂
This puzzle is only 500 pieces and seems to be pretty easy.
Should have it done in no time.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

This quote is out of a book I read not too long ago.
The Bride of Ivy Green by Julie Klassen
"There is more to marriage than romance."
"And this from a woman barely returned from her wedding trip.
Poor Talbot."
She swatted his arm.
"I didn't say there was no romance, I said there was more than that.
There is making a decision to love someone no matter what.
To stand by that person and love him or her more than your own life.
To put his or her needs and well-being above your own."
"Sounds . . . terrifying."
Thora nodded slowly.
"It is.  But when the other person is doing the same,
it's something altogether . . . GOOD."

Walking Outside

Left the house for my walk at 7:10 this morning.
It was 24 degrees with a slight breeze and cloudy.
Sunrise 7:27

A bit icy on the roads near my house
as I walked to town.

Too icy to walk on the side streets in town so stayed on the sidewalk.
Went up one side and down the other before heading back home.
The side walks aren't shoveled but when the snow plow
spreads the grit on the road through town it ends up the sidewalks too.

On the way home the sun came out and the snow plow had spread grit.

Walked up the lane and it was so pretty with the sun shining on
the frosted trees.

Didn't see any people out walking.

A cardinal flew past and I counted 12 deer around.
Saw raccoon, rabbit, and some tiny tracts of some animal in the snow.

When I looked out the window this morning when I got up almost
decided to walk inside. Sure glad I went outside instead.
It ended up being a beautiful morning.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     🌤     ☁️

It was so nice and sunny that I decided to hang the sheets outside
on the line to dry.
Wouldn't you know that as soon as I got them up hung up
it turned cloudy.
But there was a slight breeze and even with it only being 28 degrees
they did dry!

Worked some more in the pantry getting things organized
and into the new containers.
It's a job that I'm enjoying.

Got a little reading done this afternoon.

That's been my day.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

FInished Puzzle

Weather didn't look so great when I woke up.
Some kind of frozen stuff falling from the sky, and foggy.
Temperature was 27 F.
Figured there would be more ice around than
yesterday so decided to walk in the house.
 Sunrise 7:28

Ken worked on the puzzle while I made us pancakes for breakfast.
After breakfast I joined him working on the puzzle and I am happy to say
it is now finished.  Doesn't look that hard from the picture but
a lot of the pieces seemed to fit even when in the wrong place.
The border was really hard.
Usually the border gets done first but it didn't happen with this puzzle.
The last piece was a border one.

I'll pick an easy puzzle for the next one!

🧩     🧩     🧩

Did the usual house chores and then it was lunch time.

A little later we left the house for bowling, but stopped in
at Walmart first since it was in the area.
Just picked up a few things and also a couple more
storage containers for the pantry.

Then it was on to the bowling alley.
6 of us bowled today.  🎳
Not such great scores today.
My scores:
115
133
104
Ken who is usually a pretty good bowler sure had an off day.
102
141
96

Still it's just a game and we had a lot of fun.
This evening we stayed at the bowling alley and had supper there.
A mistake, and we won't do that again.
The food was good enough it was just so noisy
and it took forever to get our food.

Snowing/freezing rain on the way home so we are glad to
be back home safe and sound.

Now I'm off to make some weave-its, watch a DVD
and then start the next book on my to read stack.

So that's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

A little icy

28 degrees when I left the house at 7:10 on
my morning walk.
Just a slight wind and it was cloudy.
Sunrise 7:28

Walked to town.

Roads a bit icy but when I got to the main road to town it was clear.
Once I got to town it was a different story.
Side streets were pretty icy and I didn't even try walking there.
Just stayed on the main road through town, turned around and
headed back home.

No one else out walking that I saw.
Just the usual cars, trucks, and school buses.
Back near home I walked up the lane

and back down again.
You can barely see my house in the trees on the left.

Walked 6 miles
If I'd known it was that icy I probably would have walked inside,
but still glad I got to walk outside.

☁️     ☁️     🌨

Did a bit of house cleaning in the morning.
Then worked on the current puzzle for a little while.
The one we are working on now is turning out to be quite difficult.

Instead of going to Brenda's this evening for half price pizza
we went there for lunch this time.
Cheese Pizza
Delicious

On the way there we stopped at the library.
Had to drop off some DVD's.
(can't drop them down the book drop)
Ken got another book out and I'm happy to say I did NOT.
My friend Bettye gave me a book of hers to read,
so even though I finished another book there are still
5 books in my to read pile.
I like having a stack sitting there.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

The Wondrous Story

Another great old hymn.
One of the hymns we sang at church this morning.

I Will Sing the Wondrous Story
Francis H Rowley

1.  I will sing the wondrous story
Of the Christ Who died for me;
How He left His home in glory
For the cross of Calvary.

Chorus

Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story
Of the Christ Who died for me,
Sing it with the saints in glory,
Gathered by the crystal sea.

2.  I was lost, but Jesus found me,
Found the sheep that went astray,
Threw His loving arms around me,
Drew me back into His way.

3.  I was bruised, but Jesus healed me,
Faint was I from many a fall,
Sight was gone, and fears possessed me,
But He freed me from them all.

4.  Days of darkness still come o’er me,
Sorrow’s path I often tread,
But His presence still is with me;
By His guiding hand I’m led.

5.  He will keep me till the river
Rolls its waters at my feet;
Then He’ll bear me safely over,
Where the loved ones I shall meet.

🎶     🎵     🎶

Psalm 89:1

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever:
with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

📖     📖     📖

A blessed Sunday to you.

Fixing the cutter

Light enough at 7:10 to leave the house on my morning walk.
It was 35 degrees, cloudy, and calm.
Sunrise 7:30

Walked to town.

Passed up the first cemetery and just walked around
the one up the hill.
Walked down to see the horses and cows.
Couldn't get very close to the cows to take a picture
because of all the mud.
I did say good morning to them though.

Then walked up the main road in town and around the block
before heading back home again.

Felt the first few drops of rain in town but it didn't start raining harder
till I was just about home so just got a little damp.

Found 2 pennies
Walked 6 miles

☁️     🌧     ⛅️

Friday when we were at church doing Fingerprints at the end of the
day the cutter broke down.
We had all completed just under 8 thousand Romans books by that time.
The books assembled but not cut we put in boxes
till Ken could get the machine working again.
Today we went back to fix the cutter.
Thought it would take less than two hours to get it fixed,
and the rest of the books cut and packed up.
Well, we had a bit of trouble fixing it and had to make a couple
of trips to the hardware store in town for parts and tools.
But finally after lots of praying Ken got it working again
and we finished cutting the books and packed them up.
Less than two hours turned into more than five.
BUT at least the machine is working again all ready for next month.
Total Romans books for this month
8841.

Decided not to use the yarn I got at Ollie's
for a baby blanket.  It wasn't real soft like the so soft
Carron yarn that I usually use.
Will still use it for Tricia's scarf though.

Looking forward to sitting in my comfortable chair reading
and then watching a DVD and making some squares.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Left the house this morning walking at 7:15.
Just down the road I turned around and saw this pretty sky.
It only lasted a couple of minutes before it was gone.

The temperature was 31 degrees, cloudy, with a bit of a wind.
Sunrise 7:31

Walked to town and around the lower cemetery.
Then back to the main road and through town.
Continued around town and then headed back home.

Didn't see any people or animals, just cars, trucks and school buses.

Here the sun tries to peek through the clouds but never makes it.

Walked my usual 6 miles

☁️     🌧     ☁️

We got a call saying the service on the tractor was done so
Ken hooked up the trailer and we went to pick it up.
By that time it was raining, but all went well
and the tractor is back home, ready and waiting to get to work.
 Now we need better weather!

By the time that was all done the morning had disappeared.

Ken had a book to pick up at the library that was on hold for him.
He's been reading Anne Rule books.
I went with him but stayed in the truck.
Knew if I went inside I'd come out with more books
and there are 5 books here at home piled up for me to read.
This afternoon I was busy with some house cleaning.
Then read some and made a few weave-it squares with
the new yarn I got the other day.
I think 2 skeins will be enough for a baby blanket.
The third skein will be used for another one of those scarves.
Carol really liked the one I made for her and so did my friend Tricia.
So this next scarf will be for Tricia.

Today I cancelled Netflix - both the DVD's and the streaming.
We've been getting things to watch from the library,
we own some of our favorite shows to watch
and also we've been finding shows on YouTube.

It's been a good day.  Didn't get to do all the things I
wanted to do but there is always tomorrow.
(God willing)

A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Yarn

Another too cold to walk outside morning so walked in the basement.
No outside pictures from today but here is one from the past
when we lived in town and had a decent amount of snow.
I'm standing in the front yard.
Think it was 2014.
Left mid morning and we drove down to LaVale.
Did a little shopping at the Walmart.
Bought these storage containers for getting my pantry
organized.  They make a good start and I'll be buying more of them
in the future.  Makes the pantry look neat and tidy.

Went to  Ollie's and walked around there to see if we could find any bargains.
I found this yarn on sale for just $1.99 a skein.
Bought three, will make pretty squares for a baby blanket.

Puttered around the house when we got home.
Did a little of the puzzle and read.

Had supper and now we are off to church.
Probably won't have time to blog tomorrow.
It's a Fingerprint work day at church from 9 till 9
but I'll be back on Friday.

A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday

 Sorry no pictures today.

The temperature was 5 degrees here this morning
with more snow falling.
It was the kind of snow that doesn't amount to anything
but just kind of floats in the air.
Really pretty to look at.
Was a wimp today and walked all 6 miles inside.

Got some things done inside this morning.

We went bowling again today. 🎳
Today there were 8 of us.
My Scores:
Bad first game 95
but then things improved with a 132 and 138.
Ken's Scores:
132, 135, and 147

We ate out again after bowling and this time went to Denny's.
I had the Bourbon Chicken Skillet - very good.

Had a fun time bowling and eating and and now it
is nice to be home in a nice warm cozy house too.

So ends another day.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Monday

This morning it was 8 degrees, snowing, and a bit icy
so started my walk making loops in the basement.

After breakfast I told Ken I needed to get outside for a while
so I went out and shoveled the snow off the driveway.
By then it was up to 12 degrees.
Shoveling made me very warm so I went for a walk to cool off.

Ended up walking the rest of my 6 miles outside.
Walked up the lane towards Ron and Theresa's house.

I saw that Ron was outside (spotted his orange hat)
so walked over to his house to say hello and have a little chat.
If you look close or click to make bigger you might be
able to see that speck of orange next to the house which is Ron.

Took these pictures on the way back down the lane towards home.

Just about home, driveway on the left.

Had planned to get some house cleaning done this morning
but sure was glad I went outside instead.

Got a start on this weeks house cleaning this afternoon though
by getting our bedroom done.

Then it was time for reading and making a few weave-it squares
for next months baby blanket.
Don't have a pattern in mind yet but the colors
I'm working with so far are purple, pink, and white.

Temperature never did get out of the teens today but
it sure was nice to see the sun shining!!

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.

vision

The Bible verse this month that we are memorizing
as a church is found in Proverbs.

This year all the verses will have something about vision in them
The year is 2020 - perfect vision.
A little corny but . .  🙂

Proverbs 29:18

Where there is no vision, the people perish:
but he that keepeth the law,
happy is he.

Ice

Today was a day for walking loops down in the basement.
We had snow and then freezing rain which put a slick
coat of ice over the snow.

Our frozen waterfall.

This is the bathroom window.
So much ice you couldn't even look out of it.

We had planned on going to Morgantown, WV for the day and
eating at Outback but because of the weather we spent the
whole day in the house.

I finished knitting the scarf I was making for my friend Carol.

Another thing I finished today was the book
The Gown, a Novel of the Royal Wedding by Jennifer Robson.
If you remember it was the book for my book club next month
that I said I didn't think I would like and that I wouldn't have
picked it to read.
Well reading it sure has changed my mind.
I liked it very much.

Didn't get much else done today.
Hope this weather improves.
Snow I'll take, but this ice is not fun.

Will start another Louise Penny book this evening.
Sure looking forward to my ice cream.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

Yellow

Drove the Jeep to town and started walking at 6:45.
A morning for wearing my extra warm jacket,
the temperature was 18 degrees.
Snow flurries during my walk which didn't amount to anything.
Sunrise 7:35

Walked all over town.
Usually there is a bit of a pattern to my route when I walk
around town, but today it was random with no set route.
Couldn't even write down my haphazard route.
Did cover all areas though.

Ken passed by me in the truck with the church trailer through town.
He went to breakfast with Edd and then dropped the trailer
off at church.

Saw Kathy's car again in the parking lot when I got there to
drive back home, but didn't see her.

Walked 6.3 miles

🌧     ☁️     ⛅️

I took the ivory and green FiestaWare off my hutch
and replaced it with the yellow.
Thought the yellow would be bright and cheery and remind me of sunshine. ☀️

Then I redid these white shelves just to look at something different for a while.
The picture of the cows above them is a puzzle that we did a couple of years ago.

We've only glued two puzzles out of all the puzzles we've done.

For the last few days I have been planning to make lasagna for supper
and then when it came time for supper just didn't feel like having that.
Today came along and I finally felt like having it so made it.

Saw a bumper sticker on a car and didn't understand it.
Don't Move Firewood, It Bugs Me.
Anyone else ever see it?

 That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.

Deb - The blankets we make are brought to the local hospital and given to all the newborn babies.  The blankets are given with a little packet that tells about our church and an invitation to visit our church.  Beside making the blankets there are women who go to the hospital and visit the new moms and babies.  Most welcome the visits but some do not want a visit and refuse a blanket.

Thursday

Once again I drove the Jeep to town and started my walk at 6:45.
It was 37 degrees, cloudy, with a pretty good wind.
Sunrise 7:35

Had my usual around town walk,
both cemeteries, and the ball park loop.
Nothing out of the ordinary but happy to be able to enjoy
a walk outside.

Didn't take any pictures on my walk but here is one
from the other day.
One of those nice sunny days with a pretty blue sky and white clouds.

Walked 6 miles
By the time I got home the temperature was starting to fall and
it was 32 degrees.

☁️     ☁️     ☁️

It was Blankets for Babies day at church so just had time to get
home and change and leave again.

There were 13 of us working on the blankets today.
Marilyn brought us cinnamon rolls and muffins for breakfast
and Helen did the devotional.

This past year 243 blankets were made and given out
to the newborns.

Got a few things done around the house this afternoon
then did some reading and knitting before supper.

That's all for today.

To Bedford, Pa

Drove into town again and started walking at 6:45.
It was 38 degrees, calm, with a mix of sun and clouds.
Sunrise 7:36

Headed over to the library and dropped a book down the slot.
A walk all over town, up and down all the streets,
with loops around both cemeteries and the ball park too.

The horses were out down by the Drane house
but they didn't come over by me.
Too busy eating.

Sad to see a cat in the road that got hit by a car.
I just picture someone at home waiting for their cat to come home.

Saw Kathy's car when I returned to the Jeep but she
was nowhere in sight.

Found 2 pennies - the first coins of the year.

Walked my usual 6 miles

⛅️     🌤    🌧

We had breakfast and then left in the truck pulling the trailer
with the Romans books to Bedford, Pa to a warehouse.
2 men were there that we know from another church near there
who assembles the books too.
They helped us unload all the boxes and then load the new
books for us to bring back to our church.

We usually have to go down to Stauntan, Va which is a lot farther
away and takes the whole day leaving early in the morning.
So this trip was really nice.
About 1 hour 15 minutes one way!!

When we got home we both sat down for a minute
and the next thing I knew I woke up an hour later!!

Had a beautiful sunny day but when I woke up that had changed
to dark clouds which did bring rain.

Ken didn't want to drive the trailer in the rain in the dark
so we didn't go to church tonight and drop off the trailer.

I brought out the next puzzle and we got all the pieces
out on the table and have started the edge.
Not enough to take a picture of it yet.

That's all folks.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

Bowling Again

No waiting for it to get light to walk,
drove the Jeep to town and started my walk from there at 6:45.
It was 41 degrees with rain showers.
Sunrise 7:36

Saw our 5 deer just down the road from our house when I left.

The rain showers were on and off so my umbrella went up and
down quite a few times.

Walked all over town, up and down all the streets and walked
around both cemeteries and the ball park loop.

Nothing much happening in town but it was great to be
out there walking.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     🌧     ☔️

We used to go bowling just about every week but haven't
been for just about a year now.
That changed today when we went bowling again.
There were 5 of us that went.

Ken and I left early for bowling because we stopped at church
to pick up some boxes of the Romans books that were assembled.
We hooked up the church trailer and loaded it
it with the boxes.  Tomorrow we will bring them to a warehouse
in Bedford, PA and pick up more books to assemble.

Then we went on to bowling with the trailer.
Had fun bowling and my scores were:
127, 132, and 136.
Ken did better
150, 147, and 173.

After bowling we all went out to eat.
A Mexican restaurant has recently opened and we went there
to check it out.
Good food, friendly servers and reasonably priced.

Home now for a little TV, ice cream, and reading.

That's been my day.
Thanks for stopping by.

Puzzle

No blogging for me yesterday.
We had no power for about 12 hours.

This morning I left the house walking to town at 7:30.
It was 38 degrees, cloudy, and calm.
Sunrise 7:36

Walked directly to the post office and dropped mail down the slot.
Continued to the ball park and walked around there.
Then it was to the lower cemetery and walked around there too

before heading back home.

My friend Kathy just got to town, parked and started walking
to the cemetery and I was walking back from the cemetery
and we stopped for a chat.
Haven't seen her for a couple of months so it was nice to catch up.
Then she went on her way walking and I walked home.

I've noticed lots of bird nests in the trees along my walk
now that all the leaves are gone.
I've also spotted a couple more of those bee nests in the trees too.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     ☁️     ☁️

We worked on the Noah's Ark puzzle for most of the day
and finally finished it. This puzzle is one of the hardest we've ever done.

Not going to start the next puzzle for a day or two.
At least that's the plan.
I wouldn't be surprised if I started it later!!

We did take a break from the puzzle for lunch and then dropped our
weekly trash off at the refuse recycling place and then went for a little ride.

Time sure slips by fast when you're doing a puzzle!!
Hopefully tomorrow will be a more productive day.  🙂

 That's all for today.
