Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Two under the bridge

Drove to town again and started walking at 6:35.
It was almost like a summer morning with a temperature of 59 degrees.
It was a cloudy morning with periods of drizzly rain.
Sunrise 7:45

Saw a few deer and a rabbit driving to town.
Another random walk all over town.
No other people did I see.
Took a few turns around the ball park loop
and the lower cemetery.
I ended up going back to the Jeep and dropping off my umbrella.
The rain was very light and I was getting warm so it felt good
to be a bit damp while walking.

The fountain in the town pond has been turned
off for winter.  With these warm temperatures it
could have been left on a bit longer.
But then again it could be freezing by tomorrow.
Walked back to the Jeep and drove home.

☁️     🌧     ☁️

Finished up the housework that I was supposed to do yesterday!

Once again I watched a couple of deer out back and they stayed
a while today.

Straightened up the desk in my office
and Ken did his too.
Wasn't that messy so it didn't take very long.

Then I went back to reading.

It is very WINDY outside now and raining.
Probably won't see many more leaves on the trees after tonight.

That's all for today.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Mushrooms

Drove to town and started walking at 6:40.
Was surprised that it was 50 degrees!
A cloudy morning and calm.
Sunrise 7:43

A random walk all over town.
Dropped a couple books down the book drop at the library.
Walked through town and around the industrial park.
Then back to town and around the ball park loop.
From there went over to the lower cemetery.

Walked around there a couple of times.

Spotted these mushrooms along the way.

Can't remember ever seeing mushrooms like these before.

All too soon it was time to get back to the Jeep
and drive home.

☁️     🍄     ☁️

We drove down to town and went to the library
and browsed around a while.
I checked out book number 2 of the series I'm reading.
The Ladies of Ivy Cottage
plus two others.

While we were out we went to Burger King in McHenry
and had Spicy Chicken Sandwiches for lunch

When we got back I was going to continue with house cleaning
but read instead!!

Watched a couple of deer as they walked around outside.
Went from the back around the side and then back in the woods.
Took this picture out of my CLEAN window. 🙂

That's it for today.
Thanks for visiting.

Cleaning windows

Drove to town and started walking at 6:40.
44 degrees and clear.
When I left the house it felt like it was in the middle
of the night.
I looked up and saw millions of stars.  Beautiful.
Sunrise 7:42

Must have seen a dozen deer down my road
on the way to town.

Walked all over town, up and down all the streets.
Stopped back at the Jeep to take off a layer of clothes.

Stopped at the post office to drop some mail down the slot.

Continued on to the lower cemetery and walked around there.
Then up to the cemetery on the hill.
Walked around there a couple of times and then
went down to see the bulls.
They were busy eating but did look up to have their picture taken.
The sun was just popping over the mountain at 8:05 as I started walking
down from the cemetery back to the Jeep.

A few seconds later I was walking in sunshine.

🍁     🌤     🍂

More laundry washed this morning and hung out on the line.
Finished up a few household chores and then we left to
do a few errands.
Dropped off some stuff at the refuse center,
then stopped in at
Lowe's and then to Walmart.

This afternoon I washed more windows.
The bedroom this time.
Ended up doing the garage door windows too.

Some of you mentioned that you don't like to do windows.
I used to be like that too, but I really don't mind that job now.
What used to turn me off of the job was that I just couldn't get
the windows washed good enough.
No matter how I tried I just couldn't get them streak free.
I tried all kinds of products and some worked okay but
were never perfect.
I've discovered that you don't have to use any product at all.
This is how I wash windows.
Wipe window with a WET paper towel.
Then go over window with a micro fiber cloth.
It gets damp so then I use a third cloth to dry completely.
The windows come out sparkly clean.

Had time to get some reading done this afternoon
and tonight I'll probably finish the book.

Hope your day was a happy one.
Thanks for visiting.

Washing Windows

Another drive to town this morning and started
walking at 6:40.
41 degrees, calm, and foggy.
Sunrise 7:41

Walked all over town as usual where the street lights
are till it lightened up some.

Continued over to the ball park loop and walked around there
a couple of times and then went up the hill to the cemetery
and walked around there a couple of times.

The golf ball is gone.
Now I wonder who took it!

Saw a rabbit run across the road (it's been a while since I've seen one)
and didn't see it, but smelled a skunk!

No people out walking or running.
Pretty quite around town this Monday morning.

The sun came out to shine on me just as I got back to the Jeep.

Walked 6 miles

🐇     🍁     🌫     🌤

Washed a couple of loads of laundry and got them hung out to dry.

Then I tackled washing windows.
I'm thankful having nice big windows to sit and look out of,
but that means they need to be kept clean.
Who wants to look out at beautiful scenery through dirty windows!
Washed all windows in the living room, dining room, and kitchen,
inside and out, and the French doors.
Some could be washed standing on the porch,
others I needed to use a ladder.
Sure wish they could stay sparkling clean.

Will wash the bathroom, office and bedroom windows another day.
Oh and then there's the garage!

This young heifer is the only red/brown one that our neighbor has.
The other cows and bulls are black and some have white heads.
She might looks familiar because I've taken her picture before.
I've learned that a heifer is a female cow who has never had a calf.
She has escaped from the pasture two days in a row now.
Arron rounded her up with his ATV.
Here she is resting up after her adventure around the neighborhood.

Well Monday is coming to and end already.
It's been a good day.
Hope your Monday has been a good one.
Thanks for stopping by.

A hymn for Sunday

The Old Fashioned Way
Words - Civilla D Martin
Music - W Stillman Martin

1.  They call me old-fashioned because I believe
That the Bible is God’s holy Word,
That Jesus, who lived among men long ago,
Is divine, and the Christ of God.

2.  Old-fashioned, because I believe and accept
Only what has been spoken from Heav’n;
Old-fashioned because at the cross I was saved,
At the cross had my sins forgiv’n.

3. Old-fashioned, because I am bound to do right,
To walk in the straight narrow way;
Because I have given my whole life to God,
Old-fashioned because I pray.

4. Old-fashioned, because I am looking above
To Jesus, my glorified Lord;
Because I believe He is coming again,
Fulfilling His holy Word.

Refrain

My sin was old-fashioned,
My guilt was old-fashioned,
God’s love was old-fashioned, I know;
And the way I was saved was the old-fashioned way,
Through the blood that makes whiter than snow.

🎶     🎶    🎶

I took these pictures the other day of a big old tree out back our house.

A blessed Sunday to all.

A couple more signs

Drove to town and started walking at 6:30.
44 degrees, calm, and cloudy once the sun rose.
Sunrise 7:37

Most of my walk now is in the dark.
Looking forward to getting rid of the daylight savings time
and back to normal next week.

Had my usual walk through town and staying where the
street lights are on for most of my walk.
Made a couple turns around the ball park loop and then
headed up to the cemetery and walked around there a couple of times.
As you can see the corn is all cut down.
Must have done all that yesterday.

Was curious to see if the orange golf ball would still be on the post and YES it was still there!!  I added a couple of little stones by it to make sure it wouldn't roll off.

From the cemetery I walked down to the barn to see the bulls.
The horses were down there too but they didn't even stop eating
to look up at me this time.

Headed back to the Jeep and home again.

Didn't see any people or animals either except for a couple
of deer on the drive to town.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     ☁️     ☁️
Ken was already gone by the time I got home from walking.
He and a friend Dave left for the day to go to Timonium, MD for

I got a meatloaf started in the slow cooker
and then made a lemon cake.
I couldn't wait for tonight and had to have a piece this afternoon.
(just a little one)

Wanted to go outside in the back this afternoon but a light misty rain
started so I stayed inside and read some more.
I was reading in my new comfortable chair
and fell asleep!

The other day I took a couple pictures of the other
two signs that Ken put up.
The Rail Road sign leads down to the trains in the basement.

Ken made this weight limit sign for his arched stone bridge.
Actually 5 tons would be stretching it, 3 tons would be more accurate.

Ken called a little after 4:00 saying he was just leaving the
train show to come home.
It is a 3 hour drive so I went ahead and ate supper.
I roasted potatoes, carrots, and Brussels sprouts to to
along with the meatloaf.
I sure do like roasted vegetables!
Doesn't this look good!?

Ken and Dave will probably stop somewhere along the way
to get something to eat.
The veggies and meatloaf will be easy to heat up again
if they wait to eat when they get back.

Looking forward to seeing the goodies Ken bought for his layout!

Hope your day was a happy one.
Thanks for visiting.

Breathtaking Sunrise

No blogging yesterday for me.
It was a Fingerprint Ministry work day at church.
Worked from 8:45 till 7:30.
People came and went all day and we got 8,449 Spanish Romans books
assembled, stapled, cut, packed and ready to go.
📖     📖
This Friday like the last few of them I went along with Ken
down to Oakland and walked the paths down there
while he had breakfast with Edd and then did a few errands.
Driving there we stopped at Deep Creek Lake so I could take
some pictures of this breathtaking sunrise over the lake.

Ken dropped me off at the usual spot at 7:35.
It was 37 degrees and cloudy.
and I walked passed the houses and down the street into town.

Then walked along the path over to the park and around there
on the Green and the Red paths.

Saw two runners and two walkers at the park.

Walked back along the path to town where I met Ken
and we came home.

Walked 6.4 miles

🍁     ☁️

These are the two recliners we bought the other day.
YES, they are very comfortable.
So nice to come home last night and just sit in them after a long day.

Out this morning to do a few errands.
We took one of the old chairs to the refuse center and threw
one away.  Only allowed one piece of furniture a day so
will bring the other old chair another day.

Stopped at the library to pick up the book I put on reserve
the other day, Test of Wills.

Turkey Hill ice cream on sale again at the Shop and Save
so we picked up 4.

Didn't get any work done in the house except for
the every day stuff you have to do!

Read quite a while this afternoon.
Liking the Inn keeper of Ivy Hill very much and look forward
to reading more of Julie Klassen books.

Will be checking out a new series for us from Netflix
this evening.
Agatha Raisin, anyone watch it or hear of it?

That's it for today.
Hope your day was a happy one
and Thanks for stopping by.

New Chairs

Once again drove the Jeep to town and started walking at 6:35.
It was 41 degrees, calm and sunny once the sun rose.
Sunrise 7:36

People often ask me what is my favorite walking weather.
 Today was it.
In the 40's with sunshine.

It was my usual walk around town.
The ball park loop.
These two pictures are on a little trail behind the loop.

Continued walking over to and around the lower cemetery,

and then on to the one on top of the hill.
Next it was time to go see how the bulls were doing
down at the barn near the Drane House.
They were all doing fine.
No more bellowing.

Then it was back to the Jeep and drive home.
Walked 6 miles
Golf ball still there!

🍁     ☀️

We took a drive down to LaVale because we had to
go to the MVA.
It's a small one and has never been crowed when we've been there.
People are friendly too so it is not a bad experience.

We have been looking for a couple of recliners
for a while now and never seem to find any that we like
in some other color besides a shade of brown.

Today we stopped in the furniture again just to look around.
Happy to say we found just what we were looking for.
So we bought two.
A burgundy one for me and gray one for Ken.
They are both fabric.

Only problem was we were in the Jeep and couldn't take them home.
So we drove home, got the truck and drove back
and picked up the chairs.

Chairs now all set in the living room and look forward to later
 and trying them out!

Now we are off to church a little early this evening.
The teens are having another fund raiser dinner before the service.
This time we will be having lasagna.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.

Bird Bath

Drove the Jeep to town and was walking at 6:30.
It was breezy and pretty warm at 54 degrees.
Sunrise 7:35
Driving to town I saw 7 deer just down the road from my house.
Didn't see any sun on this walk.
Dark for the first hour till sunrise and then cloudy.
A light rain shower lasted for about a half mile 3 miles into my walk.
I had brought my umbrella but left it in the car and when it rained
I was walking around the ball park,
so a lot of good it did me sitting in the car.
Stayed walking where the street lights were till it
was light and then walked all over town.
Made a stop at the library to drop off a book down the slot
and also went to the post office and dropped mail down the
slot there.
Walked around the cemetery at the top of the hill a few times.

Didn't see anyone else out
but it was so dark maybe I just didn't see them. 🙂

Walked 6 miles
The golf ball is still there!
☁️     🌧     🍁

No work outside this morning in the rain so we
drove down to Walmart and did a bit of shopping.

Didn't need much food but I picked up a few more skeins of yarn
for the baby blankets.
Our Walmart yarn section is shrinking fast.
There is hardly any yarn at all.
Guess they will eventually do away with it altogether.

Also got a couple more pairs of jeans.

The other day Ken leveled a tree stump of a tree
he cut down last week.
I found this really neat stone that we put on top of the stump.
When water is in it,
don't you think it will make a perfect little bird bath?

Enjoying the library book I started last night
and read some more of it this afternoon.

It's been a rainy day but just a drizzly kind of day.
We were hoping we'd get a bit more rain so we could see some
water in the drainage brook.

Well, that's about it for today.
Thanks for visiting.

Drainage Brook

Drove the Jeep to town this morning and started my walk at 6:45.
It was 42 degrees and foggy, and once the sun came up it was
sunny but still had some low clouds about.
Sunrise 7:34

It was my typical walk around town.
Up and down the main road and the side streets,
and a couple of loops around the cemeteries.
Work going on at the ball park so didn't walk around there.

I found a bright orange golf ball in the road and picked it up.
Put it on this post at the cemetery.
Going to see how long it stays there.

Saw one man walking his dog who I've never seen before.
Too far away though to say hi.

I just got finished walking and
was in the Jeep driving out of the parking lot
when Kathy was just driving in.

Sure was a nice morning for taking a walk.
Walked 6 miles
Found a dime

🍁     🌫     ☀️     💰

I took everything off the hutch, dusted it and then changed
the dishes that were on it out for my yellow and orange Fiestaware.
Can't move the hutch to a different spot so changing what is on it
is the next best thing!!

Changed a few other things around too while I dusted.

Then went outside.
Walked around out back and picked up branches that the
wind pruned for us and added them to the fence.

This is the drainage brook I was tell you about.
Ken finished putting the rocks there.
Took this one standing right in the ditch.
Ken put up a couple more signs today but I haven't taken pictures yet.

Haven't been to Brenda's for a few weeks
for Monday Half Price Pizza but we did tonight.
Sure was good.

Starting a new book tonight.

Sunday Verses

These Bible verses are from the book of Hebrews
4:14-16
Seeing then that we have a great high priest,
that is passed into the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our profession.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched
with the feeling of our infirmities;
but was in all points tempted like as we are,
yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

Nest, Ki, and Pie

Had a fun time yesterday playing Mexican Train.
We got home late went to bed late and this morning I slept
an extra hour.
By that time it was light enough to walk so I left on my walk
from the house today and walked to town.
It was 35 degrees out and sunny once the sun came over the mountain.
Walked straight through town.
Passed by a yard sale in town and walked right on by
without even looking.
Walked over to the ball park and walked the loop and then
headed back home.

No people out walking but did see a couple of deer.
Heard a few gunshots, must be deer hunters.
Sure hope Dolly and her family stick close to home!!

Saw a blue jay.
Haven't seen one for quite a while so it was nice
to see a bright spot of blue in the tree.

You may remember the picture of the bees nest I took
a while back.
This is what is left of it today.
Wonder what happened.

Met up today with that little yappy barking dog,
the one I scared by opening and closing the umbrella at him.
He was out in his yard and came running out to the road,
crossed the road, and gave a token bark.
No hair raised and no growling.
His name is Ki. (not sure of the spelling)
I said Hi Ki.
He turned around and went back to his yard.
I couldn't believe it.
Maybe one day we will actually be friends.
Ki lives just around the bend in the road in the above picture.

Continued walking down the road to home.

Walked 6 miles

☀️     🍁     ⛅️

Ken went outside on his tractor and got yet more rocks.
These are pretty big ones that he's putting on the side of the
house by our bedroom where he made the waterfall.
The water flows down in a drainage ditch that he dug
and these rocks are for lining that ditch to make it look like a brook.
No water there now but at times there is quite a lot.

While he was doing that I was inside making a
Lemon Meringue Pie
A piece of that will be our snack tonight.

That was about all I did except for reading and watching
the deer around the house.
All 5 of them were here today.
Both Does and their 3 fawns, which are pretty big now.
The biggest fawn is the one we've named Dolly.

That's it for today.
Hope you enjoyed your Saturday.
