Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Colorful

Left the house walking at 6:35.
It wasn't dark but not really light yet either.
35 degrees, cloudy, and the wind has finally died down.
Sunrise 7:00

Walked to town but just to the edge of it where the
cemeteries are located and walked around both of them.
Saw a few deer and some rabbits too.
The rabbits were chasing each other so there may be
some little ones around soon too.
Here's me again in the mirror at the cemetery.
You can see the barn where I walked down to in the mirror too.
Had a few layers of clothing on which make me look
10 pounds fatter than I am.
Aren't I colorful! : )
I like to wear bright colors so cars have no trouble seeing me.
Went down to the barn near the Drane house because I thought I saw
the bulls down there.
These two were the only ones out eating, but
it you look close you can see another one in the doorway.
Rebecca was out walking and I saw another man off in
the distance walking a dog.

On the way home I saw a few red winged blackbirds.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     😃     ☁️

First thing this morning after breakfast we went to the Shop and Save
for our weekly shopping.
There were only 5 other people shopping in the store.

Gave the cross stitch a rest today to read and work on the puzzle.

I have the next 70 squares done for a baby blanket and figured
out the pattern for it and started sewing them together.
I'm going to keep making one a month and when
we can have a Baby Blanket work day at church
the blankets will be ready to go.
This one will be for the month of April so I'm already ahead.

Ken made the supper tonight.
Hot ham and cheese sandwiches with the left over potato salad.

We've been watching old movies in the evenings that we have
sitting around.  Watched 4 Ma and Pa Kettle movies.
Corny but funny and we enjoyed them.
Tonight for our viewing pleasure we will be watching
Finding Nemo.

That's all folks.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy and healthy day to you.

Cross stitch progress

Up and out of the house at 6:35.
It was 44 degrees and sunny after the sun came up.
A bit of a breeze early but became very windy later in the morning.
Sunrise 7:02

A nice walk to town.
Saw a few deer and a couple of rabbits
and of course all the birds were out and about chirping away merrily.

Walked through town and over to and around the ball park loop.
Continued on past the post office and past the child care center.
Then to the lower cemetery, around there, and back home again.

Rebecca out walking too and over by the town pond
there were three people fishing.
Don't know if you can see them in the picture.

Thought these daffodils were especially pretty.

Most all of the forsythia around town are blooming now.

Walked 6 miles
Found a quarter

☀️     💰     🙂

Right after breakfast we went to the Dollar General here in town.
Some of the things we need are cheaper there so we go there
on Monday now and tomorrow will go to the Shop and Save
and get the rest of our groceries.

I've been working on the counted cross stitch project regularly
and this is the progress after a weeks work on it.

Haven't worked much on the latest puzzle lately but today
it got worked on quite a bit.
Still have a long way to go though.

Tonight supper was hamburgers and potato salad.
The potato salad recipe I use is the one I use for
but use potatoes instead of the macaroni.

 That's all folks.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy and healthy day to you.

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday
Enjoyed being able to watch Pastor preach the sermon on FB this morning.
(will watch the evening service also)
Nice to see the church family watching too and
we 'talk' to one other by 'liking' and commenting during the
handshaking hymn.

❤️     ❤️

A couple Bible verses for Sunday
KJV

 Psalm 91:2-5

I will say of the Lord,
He is  my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers,
and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;
or for the arrow that flieth by day.

A sunny day but VERY windy.
A Blessed Sunday to all.
Thanks for stopping by.

Susan q - You asked why Ken doesn't walk with me.  He just doesn't like to walk like I do.  Besides I'd much rather walk alone in the morning.

Pizza

 Sunrise 7:05
Rain, thunder and lightning this morning so started my walk
doing laps in the basement.
After walking two miles the rain storm ended so decided to continue
walking outside.
By then it was 50 degrees.
Walked up and down the lane.

Looking to town from up the lane.

Saw 5 deer along the lane (the ones that we see most days out back)
and a whole mess of wild turkeys.

After walking just about 3 miles I felt the first drops of rain
and headed back home.
Made it home before getting wet.

Walked the last mile back down in the basement.
So walked my 6 miles.

🦌     🦃     ⛈

Made pancakes this morning for breakfast.
Then on to the usual morning routine.
By afternoon the rain had stopped and the sun came out
and the temperature was up to 68 degrees!!!
So we went outside.

Got quite a bit of the next section cleared.
Clipped a mess of stickers bushes and added them to the fence.
Ken cut down a few of the rotted trees with the chain saw
and those trees got added to the fence too.
What a beautiful spring day and it was great to be outside!

When supper time rolled around we made home made pizza.
I made the dough and Ken the actual pizza.
Isn't it a beauty?!

Worked a little bit more on the counted cross stitch too.
No time for reading though.
Will do that later this evening.
Watched another old Ma and Pa Kettle movie last night
and will watch another tonight.

 That's been my Saturday.
A happy and healthy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Walking from the house

Don't have to drive to town anymore because it is light
enough to start walking at 6:50 now so just wait until then
to leave.  Before long I'll be able to leave again at 6:30.
Temperature was 45 degrees, cloudy and calm.
Sunrise 7:07
Walking to town I saw 4 deer and 2 rabbits.
Once to town walked up the main road and over to the
ball park and walked around the loop.
Then on the road passed the day care center (which is closed)

over to the cemetery up on the hill.

Then headed back home again.
Saw Rebecca out walking,
Also saw Ruth Ann and a man who works at the garage in town.
The new greeting lately is
"Good Morning, stay healthy."
All three said that to me this morning.

On the way home I saw 2 more deer
and quite a few birds,
Robins
BlueJays
Cardinals.
Birds always seem happy as they fly about chirping
and they sure put a smile on my face.

My walk to town is in three parts.
To town which is 2 miles.
Around town for 2 miles
and the last 2 miles back home.

☁️     🙂     ☁️
After breakfast I always to the usual house chores
and a little house cleaning.
After that is done I'm on to fun stuff.

The fun stuff today was counted cross stitch
and reading.
It didn't get nice out until 4:00 this afternoon when the
sun came out for a little while.
By that time it was too late to go outside,
had to get supper started.
We had tuna casserole though I don't even put tuna in it anymore.
Starting using canned chicken quite a while ago.

Last night we watched an old movie called
The Egg and I with Fred MacMurray and Claudette Colbert.
A bit corny but we liked it.

And so another day comes to an end.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy and healthy day to you.

FG - Thanks for identifying the little yellow flowers yesterday as Yellow Sweet Coltsfoot.  What a great name for them.

HillTop - A lot of the trees down are rotted so when I try to drag them they come apart in pieces.  If I can, I just drag them along.  I have some cutters that are good for cutting down the little saplings and the sticker bushes.  Big trees that I can't drag along Ken will cut them with the chain saw for me.

Outside

Drove to town for my morning walk at 6:30.
31 degrees, calm, and sunny once a bit of fog burned off.
Sunrise 7:08

The town pond where I park when driving to town.

Cemetery on the top of the hill.

Walked all over town up and around both cemeteries and the ball park loop.

Lower cemetery on the left.

Seemed to be a good many cars about this morning.

Saw Rebecca walking around town once again.
See her most days now.

Saw quite a lot of robins but still haven't been able to
get a picture of one.  They just fly off too fast.

Great being out in the fresh air and SUNSHINE. 🙂
Walked 6 miles

☀️     ☀️

Made French toast for our breakfast and then did my usual
chores around the house.

It would have been a Fingerprint work day at church today
but that isn't happening.

Our big day out today was going to the refuse center to get
rid of our trash.

We packed another picnic lunch and ate in the truck again.

Nice sunny afternoon so we went outside.
I added more dead fall to the fence and have the areas that
have already been cleared pretty much cleaned up.

This is the next section I will be working on.

Some pretty little yellow flowers.

Was nice enough to sit on the front porch after working.

That's been my day.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

A day at home and a haircut

Woke up to 33 degrees and a cold rain falling.
Snowflakes mixed in there too
so ended up walking loops around the train layout in the basement.
Walked 4 miles before breakfast and 2 more
just before lunch.
Another day around the house.
Didn't get a whole lot done but kept busy doing
the usual stuff.
More of the counted cross stitch got done.
If I work on it a little every day by Monday
I'm hoping there will be good progress for you to see.

Ken gave me a haircut this afternoon.
It now just reaches the end of my chin.
I'm very pleased with it.
He did a great job.
Sorry no picture.
Made Sweet and Sour Chicken for supper.
The kitchen is such a mess when I make this but it is so good
it is worth all the clean up.

Will be listening to the Wed night church service live on FB again
in just a little while.
Nice that we can do this but I sure do miss going to church.
Miss our church family!!!
That's it for today.
A happy and healthy day to you.

Tuesday

Back to driving to town for my walk again this morning.
Left at 6:45 and it was 33 degrees, cloudy, and calm.
Sunrise 7:12

Walked up and down the main road and around town.
A few loops around the ball park and the lower cemetery.
From there I walked up Sale Barn road a ways which I haven't
done for a long time.

I've taken lots of pictures of this barn which is on the main road to town.
Took the picture today from Sale Barn Rd.

Turned around before I got to where the two
mean dogs live.

Walked around town again and then back to the car.

Saw Rebecca walking around town again.
Seemed to be more cars around this morning.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     ☁️     ☁️

Right after breakfast we drove to the Shop and Save and did
our grocery shopping.
Actually looked forward to it!
Seemed a normal thing to do.

After lunch the sun came out once in a while and we went outside.
I got a start on picking up the dead fall and branches and adding
it to the natural fence I've been working on.
First I'm going around getting up the dead fall and branches
from winter on the areas I've already cleared.
Then will start on new areas.

Had another walk around Happy Trails,
this time Ken came along with me.
Came across this green fungi on a dead log.

When we got back inside the house I worked on the
counted cross stitch.
Not much progress today.

This day sure went by fast.
This evening we will continue with a couple more Faulty Towers episodes.
Will make more weave-it squares and end off the day reading.

That's been my day.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

Happy Trails Walk

 Sunrise 7:13
Didn't get up and go to town to walk this morning.
Slept in till 7:00.
After we had breakfast I did a couple of routine chores.
Then went outside and with my walking stick hiked around Happy Trails.
It was 33 degrees, windy and felt like it would rain any minute.

Hiking on the upper road I took this picture of the little
cabin we built.

Passing by our tiny pond I saw a couple of ducks there.
First time I've seen that.
Startled them before I got a chance to take a picture
or even to know what kind of ducks.
Know they weren't Mallard ones though.
These were black and white.

I saw a few deer, squirrels, and chipmunks.

Coming back to the house I crossed the little bridge.
House is out of sight down on the right.

Walked outside for 3 miles until I heard thunder and then went inside.
Just got in the house and it started raining in earnest.
Walked the other 3 miles inside.

Nice walking around in our woods at this time of year before
everything gets so over grown.
I love this time of year.

🦆     🦌     🐿

After lunch I started on my counted cross stitch project.
It's been a while since I've done one and forgot how time consuming it is
which makes it a great thing to do when you can't go anywhere.

First of all I got all the different colors of floss sorted out
which took a while.
I put the floss through holes I cut out on a piece of cardboard.
Sometimes kits come with the floss already sorted but this one just had
the floss all jumbled up together.

Next I put masking tape around the edges of the cloth so it wouldn't
unravel.  Found the middle and was finally ready to start.

The hoop I'm using was my Gramma Green's.
She gave it to me many years ago and it is my favorite one to use.

This is what I did today.
I'll take another picture a week from today to show my progress.

Before I knew it the afternoon was over and it was time for supper.

Last night we started watching Faulty Towers.
Watched four episodes and will continue watching that this evening.
I need good light to do the cross stitch so I'll go back to making
weave-it squares while watching.

No Welsh Cookies for me tonight,
I'm back to ice cream.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.

I Peter 5:6,7

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,

Another Glove

Drove to town again at 6:30 for my morning walk.
31 degrees this morning and cloudy.
(31 degrees colder than yesterday morning)
No wind today.
Sunrise 7:16

Town this morning was like a ghost town.
I parked and walked over to the library to put a couple more books
down the shoot and didn't see one car.
Just saw a handful of cars during my whole walk!

Walked up and town all the streets in no special order.
My walk was very random.
Walked up this road which comes out by the school
up the hill on the right.

Put another glove on a post.
They are all still there and this one makes number 6.

This is the first forsythia I've seen just starting to bloom.

Walked around the ball park loop and the lower cemetery.
Was headed to the cemetery on top of the hill and as I passed
the Jeep in the pond parking lot took a look at my pedometer
to see how close I was to 6 miles and it read 6.7 miles.
So that was the end of my walk!

☁️     ☁️     ☁️

Today I made Welsh Cookies.
Will have some for my snack tonight.
Taking a break from ice cream.
These cookies not only taste good but they are only 40 calories.

Hadn't planned on doing any more puzzles this year but today
seemed like a good idea to get another one started.

Went through some stuff in my craft closet and came across some
counted cross stitch kits and decided to do one.
Haven't started it yet but will tomorrow.

I have two more library books still to read (started one this afternoon)
and then I'll start on my own pile of books.

Got a few more weave-it squares done today too.

That's been my Saturday.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Truck Picnic

It sure was warm this morning - 62 degrees!!
Was supposed to rain but too warm to wear rain pants and slicker
and much too windy for the umbrella so figured I'd just get wet.
Was pleasantly surprised when it never did rain
till I was back home.
Sunrise 7:18

Drove to town at 6:35 and on the way saw a couple of deer and a rabbit.

My walk started by walking to the post office to mail a letter.
Then all around town and the loops around the ball park
and both cemeteries.

Spotted the first daffodils blooming down a side street.
That's enough to make you smile.  🙂

Saw something odd this morning.
A house in town had one side of it decorated with Christmas lights
and a huge blow up Santa in front.
The other half had orange lights with a huge Halloween blow
up spider.
What do you suppose that is all about!?

Rebecca was out walking around town this morning too and we
passed each other three times!

Walked 6 miles

☁️     ☁️     ☁️

Another day around the house.
More cleaning, reading, and making weave-it squares.
Also got a pile of shredding papers done too.
Always enjoy a bit of shredding.

Our Pastor gave us a call this morning to make sure
all was well with us.
Such a blessing having a great church and Pastor!!

Thought it would be nice to get out of the house for a bit
so I made us a lunch of
chicken salad sandwiches, potato chips, and an orange
with some drinks.
When Ken came out of the basement from working on his trains
for lunch I surprised him with a picnic lunch.

We took our lunch and drove up the road to the scenic
overlook and ate lunch there sitting in the truck
looking at this view.

Sure did enjoy our little outing.

  That's all for today.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for visiting.

Blankets and cups

Looked out the window this morning when I woke up
and it was dark, raining hard, and windy.
Just didn't feel like driving to town and walking in the rain again
so got my walking done down in the basement this morning.

Walked 3 miles before breakfast and 3 miles after.
Took this picture a couple of days ago.
Guess it is lichen ? on a piece of rotted wood.
Looks like a miniature garden.
All church services and activities have been cancelled at our
church too now.
BUT I'm happy to say we can still view the services live on FB
which we did last night.
What a blessing to be able to do that!

Since Blankets for Babies was cancelled I spent the time I would
have been there making weave-it squares at home.
I made 7 squares.
Made more squares than usual because there was no one to talk to.  🙁
This yarn is not the kind I usually use for blankets and is kind of dark.
Not exactly what I would pick for a baby
but there are some light colors coming up and I'll just
make a random pattern with dark and light.
The yarn IS nice and soft so should be okay.

Changed the look of the kitchen window over sink
and put out my Fiestaware cups and saucers.
These are the 6 original colors and the colors I collect.
Did the usual chores around the house and a bit of reading too.
Once the weather clears up we can spend some time outside.
Have a couple of projects for this year.
A work shop shed
and a back deck.
Then there is all the deadfall to pick up from winter to put on my fence
and to continue clearing and making new paths.
That should keep us busy!
That's it for today.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Cast iron pot

Left the house and drove to town at 6:40 for my walk.
Temperature was 30 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds
and mostly calm.
Sunrise 7:32

Dropped off a couple more books at the library.
Still have three more library books at home to read.
Since the library is closed till who knows when, this will be a good time
to shorten the stack of my own books to read!

Walked up and down most of the streets in town.
Then walked loops around the ball park and both cemeteries.

Noticed this cat sitting there under the tree as I walked by.

Just a routine walk but especially nice just to be outside
early in the morning to see the start of a brand new day.

Walked 6 miles
Found a Penny  🙂

⛅️     💰     ⛅️

Stayed home around the house all day and didn't do all that much.
Just the usual stuff.

Our friends Carol and Ronnie gave us this old cast iron pot
with the lid in the shape of a train engine.
What a great gift for us.
There was no special reason, they just saw it and thought of us.
How nice is that!!
We put it on our gas stove in the living room.

When the water inside it gets hot enough it makes steam come out
the smoke stack of the train.

 That's all for today.
A happy day to you.

Ireland Walk

A rainy walk this morning.
Left the house and drove to town at 6:40.
42 degrees with a slight breeze.
Sunrise 7:23

Walked all over town and around the ball park loop.
The loop is only 1/4 of a mile and I usually walk it twice but
today went around it 4 times.

Then on over to the cemetery on top of the hill and walked
around there a few times.
Then back to the car and home.

Pretty quite around town but Rebecca was out walking.
We just waved because we were too far away to talk.
A nice walk even in the rain.

Walked 6.2 miles

🌧     🌧     🌧

Food shopping at the Shop and Save has become our Tuesday
morning routine now that we've done it three weeks in a row.
The only thing that they were out of that we needed was
TP of all things!!
Stopped at the Dollar General and got it there. 🙂

🍀
The last time we were at the Library (now closed till at least Mar 31)
I picked up a bookmark with some Irish facts on one side
and a recipe for Irish Soda Bread on the other side.
Since it's St Patrick's Day thought I'd give it a try.

We tried a piece before it even had time to cool.
Delicious!
🍀
Back in 2006 we went one of my all time favorite holidays.
It was a walking holiday with The Wayfarers and
we walked the Ring of Kerry in Ireland.
I came across the web page that Ken had made of our trip.
Here is the link if anyone is interested in seeing it.
It sure was nice to relive that time again.

🍀

Been doing some reading on this rainy, foggy afternoon.
Read another Fanny Flagg book, A Redbird Christmas and finished it.
Just an easy read short book that I really enjoyed.

 That's all for today.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for visiting.
