Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Saturday

This morning was a nice warm one at 40 degrees.
There was a mix of sun and clouds and no wind.
A delightful morning for walking.

Walked once around both cemeteries and the ball park.
Continued on down to the main road and walked to the
curve in the road where I turned around.

On the way back I walked down the road between the industrial park
and the main road.

Saw a Northern Flicker fly right by me.
The Killdeer was up by the cemetery again and also saw one
by the pond and in a field along the road.

There were a couple people fishing at the pond.
The same two men who have been there every day this week,
even on those cold mornings.

No people walking about today.

Another nice morning walk.
Walked 6 miles

🌤    🥾    🌸

Came home to an empty house after walking
and had the house to myself this morning.
Ken went to a train sale down in Cumberland.
It is like a flea market but just train stuff.
He'd rather go alone so doesn't feel rushed with me tagging along.
He's been working on his train layout this week and has gotten
another whole section just about finished.
Next time I walk down in the basement I'll take some pictures.

Got my morning chores done and then went outside
and puttered around out back for a bit.

This afternoon Ken and I went walking around Happy Trails.
Stopped at the cabin to give David and Liz some of that
Lemon Fudge I made the other day.
While there I invited Liz to the Mother Daughter Luncheon
at church next Saturday.
Happy to say she said, yes, she'd love to go.
I look forward to that.

Back at the house I sat out back on the deck and read.

Another day to be thankful for.
A happy day to you. 🤗

MsBB - Lunch was romaine lettuce, pecans, strawberries, mozzarella cheese, with Ken's Lite Walnut Raspberry dressing and a small baked potato with a little butter and salt.  It is one of my favorite lunches.  The dressing also tastes good on the potato.

Friday

A chilly start to the day again.
27 degrees, but it was sunny and no wind.
Had all my winter layers of clothes on again.

Walked around the left side of town which includes
the cemeteries and the ball park.

Saw those killdeers running around the cemetery again.
Those birds are so funny to watch run!!

By that time I had walked four miles and was warm.
Stopped back at the Jeep and took off 2 of my 5 layers.
Also got a book out of the car and walked through town
to the library and dropped the book down the book drop.

Walking down to see the bulls.

Kermit was out working in his yard again and I stopped to talk.

Didn't see anyone else out walking this morning.

Witnessed an ALMOST traffic accident!!
A logging truck pulled right out in front of a school bus.
Luckily there were no other cars coming the other way
and the quick thinking bus driver swerved around the truck!!
There were no kids in the bus having already been dropped
off at school.
It was scary to watch though!

By the time my walk ended I was surprised to see that it had only
warmed up to 34, seemed much warmer.

Always nice to start my day with a walk.
Walked my usual 6 miles

☀️    🌺    🥾

About the iced tree yesterday.
Tom and Anni were right about putting ice on the tree
to protect it.  Found this LINK that you might find
interesting about it.

🥶    🥶

Did the usual morning house chores.

Lunch today.

Puttered about the yard a bit this afternoon.
Then did some reading sitting out on the back deck.
Warmed up to 60.

A beautiful sunny day and for that I am thankful.
A happy day to you.

Iced Tree

Put on all my winter layers of clothes for my walk this morning.
A bit chilly out there with a temperature of 25 degrees,
But those layers kept me nice and warm.
Cloudy at first but then it was sunny.
Walked 6 miles
Found a quarter

An enjoyable walk all around town, the cemeteries and the ball park too.

Rebecca was out running and I saw her in two different places.
Another woman was out walking her dog.

Can't imagine why, but I see that someone has iced their tree.
The hose and step ladder are still out there.
Looks pretty but you would think they have seen enough ice this year! 😃

There is a rabbit in this picture though it is hard to find.

The Phlox that was planted in the cemetery is in bloom now.
Each year it spreads around a bit more.
Wish it lasted longer.
My mom always called Phlox
Mountain Pink and I like that name better too.

🌸    🌤    🌺

A pancake breakfast today with strawberries.
Like having dessert for breakfast.

By the time a load of laundry got done the temperature was
up to 40 so the clothes got hung outside.

We went to the library and dropped a couple of books off
and got out another one.

Another good day to be thankful for.
A happy day to you. 🤗

Pond Walkway

Took this picture Monday on the way to LaVale.

🌼    🌼

32 degrees when I went walking this morning.
Mostly cloudy but did see the sun on the last mile walking.

Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park, and all around town.

No people walking around but there were two
people fishing at the pond.

There is a man in town who is confined to a wheel chair and
wanted to bring his son fishing.
He brought up at the town meeting that there was no way
for him to get to the pond.
It was decided to put a concrete path leading to the pond
for a wheelchair.

Here is the result.
Notice the bottom picture of the geese checking out the walkway.
Not quite finished yet.
It needs some backfill and a fence of some sort at the end.

🙂    🎣    🌤

A nice day around the house.
Got a little work done.
Read, knitted, and got some weave-its sewn together.

It was a good day and for that I am Thankful.
A happy day to you.

A Little Duck

 A rainy morning walk today.
But the good news is that there was no wind and it was 55 degrees.
Just a drizzly rain at first and then it just rained.

Saw those rabbits again but no people out walking.
Seemed to be a lot more cars driving around than usual.

Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park, and all over town.

A nice but uneventful walk until I got back to the Jeep.

When I got back to the Jeep I noticed a little rubber duck
on the door handle with a card.

I've been ducked. 😊

New to ducking?
Learn about it

Walked my usual 6 miles

🌧    😊    ☔️    🚗

After a fried bread breakfast we went food shopping
at the Shop and Save.

After everything was put away and some house chores
got done I did Wordle.
Still enjoy doing that every day.

I made some Lemon Fudge this afternoon.
I'd never heard of it before but read of the recipe
and just had to try it.
YUMMY!!

I've been making weave-it squares
for May's Baby Blanket.

It's been a good day and for that I am Thankful.
A happy day to you.

An outing to LaVale

A beautiful morning for walking.
58 degrees and sunny
Walked 6 miles
Found a dime

Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park and then down
the main street to the curve in the road where I turned
around and walked back through town.

A couple of bulls stopped eating to get their pictures taken.

Surprised not to see anyone else out on such a beautiful morning.

The Rolling Pin Bakery used to be in this building before they moved
down the road into where Annie's Kitchen was.
I see that another business is now in the building,

Saw a few rabbits hopping about.

Dandelions have started popping up all over the place.
Some people don't like them, but I do.
I like a yellow polk a dotted lawn.

🌤    😊    🌼    🥾

We drove down to LaVale this morning and had a nice time
looking around a few stores down there.
So nice to just get out and browse.

Got a couple of yard flags and put them out as soon as we got home.
Couldn't pass up some pretty pink cotton yarn.
I found some size small good work gloves.
The pink and turquoise shirts I got are extra large which I
like to use as PJ's.

We were back home by lunchtime
and we made nachos for lunch.

Sheets were dried by then and they got put back on the bed
and I did another load of clothes and hung them out and they
 dried super quick.

The deer have been coming by every day again.
My phone doesn't take such great pictures so I don't take many
but here is one of a deer standing under our little bridge out back.
She stayed there for a good long while.

Other deer were up along the natural fence taking a nap.

Always nice to find some time for reading during the day
and a little knitting too.

Thanks for stopping by.
It's been a good day and for that I am thankful.

Sunrise and a Hymn

 Happy Sunday To You

A couple of sunrises to get the day started.

🌷    🌺    🌷    🌺

🎶 Since the Savior Found Me 🎶

1.  Since the Savior found me, pardoned all my sin,
I have had the joy and living hope within.
Gone is all the shame and sorrow of the past.
They're underneath the precious blood of Christ at last.

Chorus

Save, saved, saved, I'm happy on the way.
Saved, saved, saved I love Him more each day.
Saved, saved, saved, I know He's mine each hour.
He saves, and keeps and sanctifies me by His pow'r.

2.  Since the Savior found me all to Him I owe,
For his precious blood has washed me white as snow.
Now no condemnation, happy as can be.
I'm glad that Jesus justifies and sets me free.

3.  Since the Savior found me I have perfect rest.
Living in the realms of joy and happiness.
Leaning on my Savior, looking for that day,
When He shall come to catch His waiting bride away.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

A Peek Inside

 Sunrise 6:27
50 degrees, calm and cloudy when I started walking.
Sun shinning by the end of my walk.
Walked 6 miles

On my way to town I saw 6 deer and 2 bunnies,
cardinals, a bluebird, a bluejay and a bobolink.

A young couple was out walking with morning and another
woman who I've never seen before.
Joy was out too.
Rebecca and I ran into each other 4 different times as
we each walked on our different routes.

Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park, and
all around town.

Not much left of the tree now, just the stump.

The twin houses are coming along.
The second house is now sided in a light gray color.

I took a peek in the big front window and took this picture of the
living room and kitchen.

A hallway to the left probably has 3 bedrooms and a bath.
A nice little house. 🙂 🏠

A little bouquet of daffodils in the middle of the grass.

Don't know if you can see it but there is a
crow sitting on a gravestone in the middle of the picture.
It is sitting on James Drane's stone.
Just thought it made a nice picture with the Drane house
in the background.

🌤    😊    🌼    🥾

Good weather for doing the laundry and had it out on the line
blowing in the gentle breeze.

We went out to do a few errands today.
A stop at the library to drop off and pick up more books.
Took our garbage to the dump.
Had to pick up a few items from the Dollar General and the Shop and Save.
While we were out we went through the drive thru at
Burger King for lunch.

Today it was warm enough to sit out on the front porch.
I sat out there eating my snack of raw baby carrots.
The baby ones are sweet and so good.

Got some knitting and reading done too.

Another good day and for that I am truly thankful.
A happy day to you.

Garrett County, 150 years old this year

Now that the sun is rising earlier I no longer start walking in the dark.
Sunrise this morning was 6:28.
A mix of sun and clouds,
and the temperature a nice 48 degrees.
Walked 6 miles

Started my walk around the lower cemetery.
Here's what's left of the tree that blew down.

Continued walking straight through town and down the main road
to the curve in the road where I turned around and walked back.

Next walked around the industrial park
and then back through town again.

One of the businesses in town has started putting an addition on the side.
The Firefly moved the store down the road across from the gas station
and has kept the cheese making and the offices at this location.

Kermit was out in front of his house putting a sign on a snow plow
is he trying to sell.
We got to talking and he said the latest he has seen it snow here
is June 3!!!  Glad that doesn't happen very often.

Saw a few deer and a couple of rabbits.
No other people out walking.

School bus number 46 now has a new driver and he has started waving to me.
Guess the last driver retired.
I've been waving to him since we moved here and miss seeing him.

It's was a good morning for walking.

🌤    🙂    🌼    🥾

Pancake breakfast morning today.

Hadn't done much housework this past week so got that
done this morning.

Nice sunny day but not quite warm enough to sit on the front porch.
It was warmer out back on the deck in the sun out of the breeze
so we sat out there for a while this afternoon and read.

🌸    🌷    🌼    🌺

Last week when I stopped in at the library they were handing out
little goodie bags to celebrate Garrett County's 150th birthday.

I colored some pages in the coloring book.
Tried to make a collage out of them but couldn't fit the picture and
the writing in the picture.

Some other facts about Garrett County

The Wild Columbine is the official flower.

Oakland's B&O Railroad Station was built in 1884.
It is a Queen Anne style building designed by E Francis Baldwin
and built with the help of John Work Garrett,
President of the B&O Railroad, for whom the county was named.

There are 2 state forests, 8 state parks, and more than 120 miles of trails.

Deep Creek Lake is Maryland's largest freshwater lake.
It is 13 miles long, covers 3,900 acres,
and has 65 miles of shoreline.

Hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about the county I live in.

Have a Wonderful Day and be Thankful for it.

Hi There 😃

I was going to start blogging on Monday but then didn't because
I really did want to wait until it was spring weather!!
But if I wait until then I might not blog again till June. 🙂

We have had some beautiful sunny spring weather but it didn't last.
Flower pictures were taken along a walk.
Ducks are at the pond by the library in Grantsville.

This month we've had 3 more snowy days and one freezing rain.
Monday was another freezing rain day

and then on Tuesday it was another snowy day.
Picture taken out the back door in the morning.
Through the day we got about 3 inches of snow.

I looked up the weather from previous years and we always get
snow in April so this isn't unusual for here.

Been down to see the bulls a bunch of times and they are all doing fine.

Took a walk down this short road.
Figured I'm not a vehicle so probably are allowed to walk down here.

A couple of barns at the end.

One very windy day this tree by the lower cemetery came down
and brought a bunch of wires down along with it.

I'll end this post with a few sunrise pictures I took during
the past few weeks.

Tomorrow I'll be back to my normal posts.
I've enjoyed my break but look forward to getting back to blogging again.
I've missed you all.

A happy day to you.
