Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Saw the deer again. πŸ˜€

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ    πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ    πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

44 degrees this morning and cloudy when I walked.

Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park.
Flags were put by all the graves of all the Veterans.
The orange flags are those who served in the town Volunteer Fire Dept.

Went to the industrial park and walked around there too.
Took this picture in front of one of the buildings.

Walking back to the Jeep passed by the town Memorial.

The first part of my walk it was like a ghost town didn't see a soul
for the first 5 miles.
Then I saw Rebecca walking Leo.
George, a man from town, driving by stopped to say hello.

Walked 6 miles

I saw that deer driving to town again.
AND you thought I was kidding. πŸ˜ƒ  πŸ˜ƒ

☁️    🚢‍♀️    ☁️

I took a chance on the weather and washed the sheets.
Paid off because mid morning the sun came out
and it ended up being a beautiful sunny day though it
did stay on the cool side.

Don't seem to be having any luck finding cucumber plants anywhere,
so I bought a package of seeds and planted them outside this afternoon.
Walked around and did a bit of weeding here and there
and planted a couple more marigolds.

We had chicken quesadillas for supper.
Another favorite of mine.
I seem to have a lot of favorite meals!

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

Skies, A verse, and a hymn

 Happy Sunday

This morning we went to church in person instead of on FB.
Wonderful to get back in person again!!
It's been over a year.
It is what I've missed most of all during covid.

A few sky pictures from this past week while I was walking.

Psalm 86:11

I will walk in thy truth:
unite my heart to fear thy name. πŸ“–

Have Thine Own Way

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way.
Thou art the potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after thy will,
while I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way.
Search me and try me, Savior today.
Wash me just now, Lord, wash me just now,
as in thy presence humbly I bow

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way.
Wounded and weary, help me I pray.
Power, all power, surely is thine.
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way.
Hold o'er my being absolute sway.
Fill with thy spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

Thanks so much for all the happy birthday wishes.  We did have a piece of the cake last night and I'm off to have another in just a bit.

Unknown - No, Ken isn't a baker, the only thing he bakes are my birthday cakes.
He does cook though and makes a great pizza!!

Cake

My string of sunny morning walks has ended.
Today it was 49 degrees with a few periods of misty rain.
Still nice to be out walking.

Walked up and down the main road and around the right side of town.
Then around the ball park and just one of the cemeteries,
and around town again.

A few pictures along the way.

Didn't see anyone else out.

Another house for sale in town.
This is a block off the main road.
The house was hidden behind a bunch of over grown bushes and
I see that the bushes have been cut down and now you can see
the house.  Looks so much better.

Passed by our old house in town and in this spot here at the end
of the driveway used to be where my daisy garden was.
As you can see it has been mowed over and destroyed.

This is what it looked like in years past.
People driving by would stop and take pictures
and we even dug some up and give them to people.

I DID take some with me when we moved so still have some of them.

Walked 6 miles

A quick trip to Dollar General after breakfast.

🎈My birthday is tomorrow and today Ken made my birthday cake. πŸŽ‚
Three Layer Chocolate Cake with raspberry jam between layers
covered in real whipped cream.
Some how I don't think we will be waiting until tomorrow to have a piece.
Pretty sure it will be our snack tonight.

This year I hit a new decade.

It was a rain showery kind of day so we stayed indoors and
had another one of those puttering about days.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you had a happy and good day.

Vee - I'd guess about 900 miles on the old shoes.
Glad so many of you got a chuckle out of the deer driving to town yesterday.  πŸ˜ƒ
It did sound pretty funny when I read it again!

The Huge Bush

Very windy this morning when I walked.
It was 54 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds.
Saw a deer driving to town.

Walked around both of the cemeteries first

and then headed over to the ball park loop and went around that.
Roger was walking Andy there and so was the same young woman who
I've seen a few days now.

Then back to where I started and walked down the main road through
town and then the other side of the main road.

Here is that huge rhododendron bush I was telling you about.

This picture has the house in the background to give
perspective on the size of it.

Yesterday I retired another pair of walking shoes and replaced
them with these.  Still have two more pair in stock sitting in my closet.
I kept wearing my old ones just one more day until Ken just threw
them in the garbage!!

Walked 6 miles

🌀    🚢‍♀️    πŸ™‚

By lunch time it was raining and continued raining for the rest of the day.
Again it was a nice gentle rain and great for the plants.

Finished up my weekly cleaning in the morning
which left the afternoon for puttering about the house.

That's all I've got for today.
Hope you're Friday was a happy one.
Thanks once again for stopping by and another thanks for the comments!!

Thursday

This morning when I started walking it was 55 degrees.
Mostly cloudy but did see the sun every so often.
Just a bit of a breeze too.

Walked through town and went over to the industrial park
and walked around there.

Walking past the ball park I saw a man running the loop,
a woman walking, and Roger walking Andy.
On the way back I saw Rebecca walking Leo
and another woman running.
5 people is quite a bit for here.

I don't often see an orange rhododendron.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    πŸ™‚    ⛅️

After breakfast today we made a trip to Walmart.
It was the first time in a year.
Also stopped in at Lowe's.
While there checked to see if they had any cucumber plants but they didn't.
Will have to go back to the nursery where we got the other veggies.

My birthday is Sunday (the real Memorial Day)
and since David and Liz will be leaving town tomorrow and won't
be here on my birthday, they came over this afternoon and took
over my kitchen to cook me a birthday dinner.
And what a dinner it was!!!
We had Caesar Salad, baked potatoes, and steak cooked to perfection.
They even washed all the dishes.
After we ate we sat around and looked at old pictures.
Had such good time!!

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you had a happy day.

Martha - I'm sure covid had something to do with why I hadn't heard about Sherry.  People just haven't been around as much to just stop and talk.

Unknown - We don't go to the church in town so wouldn't have heard about Sherry from church.  Our church it 20 miles away in Oakland.

Doe and her Fawn

🌸    🌼    🌷

Once again I had a nice sunny walk with a temperature of 60 degrees
this morning.
My usual walk around town, the cemeteries and the ball park.

A walk down to the bulls and this one was busy eating breakfast.

Went over to the Drane house garden to see how it was doing.
All looked nice and tidy.
Noticed a sign was put up in the garden so went in to see what it said.

Was I ever surprised and sad to read what it said.

I had no idea that Sherry had died!!
She was one of the first people I met in town when we moved here.
She was very involved in everything around town.
Got me going to the book club at the library.
She owned a hair salon and was my hairdresser and the best one
I ever had till she retired a few years ago.
I was just thinking of her the other day and wondering why I hadn't seen
her around.

Saw a woman I see once in a while running.
She always so concentrated on her running that we've never
stopped to chat.

Driving to town saw rabbits and deer again.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🚢‍♀️    πŸ™‚

While I was out walking this morning Ken watched a doe and her
fawn walk around the yard.
Sure is a tiny one and not very old.
I'm wondering if it is the same one I saw the other day when
it looked like it was just born and could barely get up.
Ken took a few pictures and this was the best one.
I'm sure we will see them again and be able to watch the little one grow up.

Worked outside pulling weeds for a while and then just walked
around a bit.
Mid afternoon it turned cloudy, the wind kicked up and we heard
some thunder but there was just a few raindrops.

I had put chicken in the slow cooker this morning and for supper
we had Caesar Salads topped with the chicken.
This has become one of our favorite meals.

A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Glove 4

Back to a sunny walk this morning.
55 degrees and calm.

Saw a couple of deer and rabbits on the drive to town.
Then had a lovely walk all around town, both cemeteries, and the ball park.

Found another glove and walked down the main road and put it on
the next post down from the other gloves.
This one makes 4 that I've put on the posts so far this time.

The wild daisies along the road side are now starting to bloom.

Said good morning to the bulls.

Noticed after the rain from yesterday the corn has sprouted.
Always fun to watch how fast it grows.

The rhododendron all around town have started to bloom.

There is one bush in town that is the biggest one I've ever seen.
It is still not all in bloom but will post a picture when it does.

No others out walking that I saw but there was a fisherman at the pond.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🚢‍♀️    πŸ˜ƒ

A trip to the Shop and Save first thing after breakfast.
Some house cleaning got done today and fun stuff too.
David and Liz went for a hike and stopped by and we all sat
on the porch for a while.

Did a little reading and knitting too.

πŸ’ I love cherries πŸ’

It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and cool breezes.
Perfect weather and so nice to have to windows open with
the breezes blowing through.

Happy Tuesday to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Nellie - Not sure who owns the house.  Heard at one time that the owner had to go in a nursing home and didn't want to sell it.  That is just a rumor though and don't know if it is true.

Abandoned House

This morning it was 61 degrees and calm.
It rained before I walked and after but while I walked
it was just cloudy.

Walked around both the cemeteries, the ball park and all around town too.

Saw the same young woman from the other day back out walking and
another woman who I see from time to time.
Sometimes I see people out walking for a few weeks and then
they disappear for a while and one day they are back again.

No sign of the horse from the other day but this tiny white horse
came to see me this time.

This is a big old house along the main road in town that is abandoned
and it is sad to see it get a bit worse every year.
Windows are broken, the porch roof is falling down and the trees
and bushes are finding their way into the house.

 Walked 6 miles

☁️    🚢‍♀️    πŸ™‚    ☁️

This morning we put our trash in the back of the truck and took
a ride to the dump and threw it in the bin.
(the trash not the truck)
Stopped at the store on the way home.

Ken spent some time in the garage cleaning up a bit.
Buried under a bunch of stuff was a small round table that I
thought I didn't want anymore and had put it out in the garage.
Well when I saw it again I wanted it, so cleaned it up and
brought it back inside.

Having a nice gentle rain today which is very good for all the plants.

Hope your Monday was a happy one.
Thanks for stopping by.

What If . . .

 Happy Sunday

Morning

❤️    πŸ™‚    ❤️

What If . . .

What if God couldn't take the time to bless us today because we couldn't -
take the time to thank Him yesterday . . .

What if God decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn't -
follow Him today . . .

What if God didn't walk with us today because we failed to recognize it -
as His day . . .

What if we never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled -
God sent the rain . . .

What if God stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to -
love and care for others . . .

What if God took away the Bible tomorrow because we would not -
read it today . . .

What if God took away His message because we failed to listen to -
the messenger . . .

What if God didn't send His only begotten Son because He wanted us -
to be prepared to pay the price for sin . . .

What if the door of the church was closed because we did not open the -
door to our heart . . .

What if God answered our prayers the way we answer His call to . . .

RK - Thank you so much for those kind words you left in comments.  Such a nice thing to say.

Vee - For some reason the deer just don't eat the garden or the flowers.  Maybe because we are in the woods and there is so much other stuff around for them to eat.  Now that I say that, this year they will probably make me a liar. πŸ™‚

Saturday

Once again it was a sunny morning walk for me
with a temperature of 61 degrees.
Sunrise - 5:56
Sunset - 8:32

Driving to town there were 5 deer standing on the side of the road.
They all watched me as I slowly drove past.

Walked around both of the cemeteries, town, and the ball park.

After I took this picture a Blue bird flew out of the bird house.

Walked down to see the bulls and then saw the horse start
to walk over my way so stopped and waited for her to get to me.
I'm sure she was disappointed when she realized I had nothing for her to eat.

This next picture of a geese family out walking in the middle of the pasture
made me smile.  You will probably have to enlarge the picture to see them.
Mom in front, then the 5 little ones, with dad following behind.

Walking around the ball park loop I saw Rebecca and a young
woman who I've never seen before.

Big event going on over at the town pond.
The Annual Fishing Rodeo.
When I arrived back at the parking lot it was packed full
and lots of people around the lake fishing.
I think they give out prizes at the end.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🚢‍♀️   πŸ™‚

Went outside and puttered about since it was so nice out.
A lot of clouds around today but still a beautiful day.

The picture on the left is the Bugleweed we planted last year.
It came back again this year and is doing well.
Picture on right is my little veggie garden.
Bottom picture is Wisteria which our friend Dennis gave us.
It didn't look like more than a few sticks when we planted it almost 3 years ago
but it is doing great. Hope to have it growing all along the fence.
It still hasn't flowered yet - hopefully next year.

We went out for a little ride and had our lunch in a little turn
off by the lake.

That's it for today.
A happy Saturday to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Ms BB - My walking stick is not so much for balance but to keep away stray dogs if I run into one! Don't usually take it with me when I'm walking just in town.  I do take my stick with me though when hiking in the woods which is great for walking on the uneven surface.
