Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cake

My string of sunny morning walks has ended.
Today it was 49 degrees with a few periods of misty rain.
Still nice to be out walking.

Walked up and down the main road and around the right side of town.
Then around the ball park and just one of the cemeteries,
and around town again.

A few pictures along the way.

Didn't see anyone else out.

Another house for sale in town.
This is a block off the main road.
The house was hidden behind a bunch of over grown bushes and
I see that the bushes have been cut down and now you can see
the house.  Looks so much better.

Passed by our old house in town and in this spot here at the end
of the driveway used to be where my daisy garden was.
As you can see it has been mowed over and destroyed.

This is what it looked like in years past.
People driving by would stop and take pictures
and we even dug some up and give them to people.

I DID take some with me when we moved so still have some of them.

Walked 6 miles

🌧    ☁️    🌼

A quick trip to Dollar General after breakfast.

🎈My birthday is tomorrow and today Ken made my birthday cake. 🎂
Three Layer Chocolate Cake with raspberry jam between layers
covered in real whipped cream.
Some how I don't think we will be waiting until tomorrow to have a piece.
Pretty sure it will be our snack tonight.

This year I hit a new decade.
70

It was a rain showery kind of day so we stayed indoors and
had another one of those puttering about days.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you had a happy and good day.

Vee - I'd guess about 900 miles on the old shoes.
Glad so many of you got a chuckle out of the deer driving to town yesterday.  😃
It did sound pretty funny when I read it again!

Happy Birthday, Karen! I can't think of a more delicious cake! It's much cooler here. A jacket felt good this morning.

Happy birthday to you! The cake sounds absolutely delicious... enjoy!! I love daisies and it makes me sad that such a beautiful garden of them would be destroyed. Enjoy the rest of your weekend... and your birthday too!

I certainly liked how you had the Daisies at the end of the driveway, instead of just grass. the simple beauty of a daisy is often overlooked. That cake sounds and looks fantastic. Happy Birthday.

Happy 70th birthday to you and many more. Remember, 70 is the new 60, so in reality you're only 60. Everything about that cake sounds mighty good. Was Ken a baker in a previous life or he just likes baking as a hobby? In any case, it sounds delicious. Such a shame about those daisies. Why would anyone get rid of them when they add such beauty to that corner? Glad you took some with you. Enjoy your birthday!

Happy Birthday to you! Your cake looks yummy!
I love those daisies, it is a shame they mowed them down.
I am trying to grow some daisies but some critter started eating the leaves.
Take care, enjoy your day! I wish you a happy new week!

Enjoy your birthday and that lovely cake, it looks delicious. A shame about the daisy garden. Perhaps when the ones you took with you have filled out you could plant a few along the roadsides if there are any places that don't get mown or sprayed. I was pretty upset when I saw that the people who bought Dingles chopped down the honeysuckle, climbing rose and wisteria. Their loss I suppose.

Many happy returns of the day, Karen. Eat as much cake as you want! Great job on the birthday cake, Ken! Too bad new home owners did give the daisies a chance. It's difficult to understand what the new owners were thinking about the daisy garden. It was lovely.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! I'm sure you didn't wait, to cut into that lovely cake he made! -smile-

70! You youngin'! I'm 84.

In your town photos, I always look for the main street place, with the pillars on the porch, now!!! -smile-

How sad, that the new owners, got rid of your lovely daisy garden! -sigh- Really, really, really sad. But you have the photos, and some of the daisys. And a place to start a new drive side garden!!!!

It's so cool and cloudy, here. Weird weather. But then, in not long, we'll be saying, it's hot and humid!!!!

Happy Memorial Day...
