Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Sunday

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes.
🙂

Psalm 27 verses 1 and 14
KJV

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

Wait on the Lord:
be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the Lord.

A happy Sunday to all.
God Bless You.

Another Year

A nice sunny walk to town this morning.
It had rained last night and left everything fresh looking and very green.
55 degrees and calm.

Once I got to town just walked up and down the main road
and up a few side streets before walking back home again.

Saw Rebecca out again.  Sometimes she walks and other days she
runs.  Today was a running day.

The rhododendron bushes in town are starting to bloom.

As I was walking toward home down the main road
Lena was driving to town and stopped to say hi.
(she's Rebecca's mom)
We had a nice little visit. 🙂

Saw a young groundhog run across the road and down his burrow.
Another big old fat one didn't make it when he tried and
was dead in the middle of the road.

All the usual rabbits, birds, and deer, and those wild turkeys
were around this morning.

Walked 6 miles

🌤     😀     ☀️

We went to the Dollar General first thing after breakfast.

Got a load of wash hung up on the line and a some
chili cooking in the slow cooker when we got back.

We had birthday cake for breakfast!!
Today is the 'real' Memorial Day (May 30) not the observed one
and also my birthday. 🎈
69 years old!!

 Ken made my cake yesterday.
A 4 layer chocolate fudge cake with a layer of chocolate
pudding and another of strawberry jam
topped off with real whipped cream.
Oh my is it very good.
Wish I could give you all a piece! 🎂

Read some more this afternoon.
Finished the cross stitch except for the outlining.

Used the chili I made in the taco salads for supper.
Nice that the slow cooker of chili gives us three meals!

Missing my mom today.
She ALWAYS called and sang Happy Birthday to me.

That's all for today.
A happy and healthy day to you.

The bulls are back

A front porch sunset.

Another walk to town this morning.
62 degrees and sunny with some clouds.
One of the clouds was rained filled and there was a quick little
shower just before I reached the main road.
Only lasted a couple of minutes and then sunny again.
A bit of a wind which kept things cool.

Walked around both cemeteries and down by the Drane house
to see if the bulls were back.
Yes, they were.
Two stopped eating to look up at me.

This big guy walked over to the fence by me.
Nice to get an up close picture of him.

After visiting the bulls I walked back home again.

Saw Rebecca out walking and a man walking his dog.

There are many of these pretty tiny yellow flowers down
along the brook.

Walked 6 miles

🌤     🙂     🌦

A relaxing kind of day and didn't get any work done.
Read quite a while and worked on the counted cross stitch.
A little walk around Happy Trails in the afternoon.
Made pizza for supper
and another day is winding down.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy and healthy day to you.

Another day another walk

62 degrees with a misty rain and windy at times
this morning when I went on my walk.

Had my umbrella up when I started but got tired of fighting the wind and
after a couple of miles put the umbrella down.
It was warm so I didn't mind getting wet.

Walked to town.
Made a loop around town and ended up by the
ball park.  Walked that loop a couple of times and then
walked back home.

Saw a couple of gray cat birds along my road
as well as all the regular birds.

Looking down at the brook I saw a deer in the middle
of it getting a drink.

I always think of little umbrellas when I see these.

Walked 6 miles

🌧     🙂     🌧

The morning was rainy but the afternoon brought
beautiful blue skies with big white clouds.

A day of puttering about the house doing this and that
and nothing really getting done.

Nice to sit out on the porch and just enjoy being there.
While we were out
up the road comes that same calf that leaves the pasture regularly.
This time Farmer Gene was herding him
up the road in his car.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy and healthy day to you.

A little bird

58 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds
and at times a nice breeze.
Not much color in the sky this morning but a great
looking sky anyway.

Walked to town.

Made a loop around town and as I passed the library
stopped to read the note on the door.
The library is kind of open, but not really.

I have plenty of books at home to read so I think
I'll wait until the library is operating normally.

Walked over to the ball park and walked around the loop a couple
of times and then walked back home.

As always it is so nice to go outside first thing in the morning
and walk.
Walked 6 miles

☁️     🙂     ⛅️

I had baskets hanging on the back of the chair outside
on the porch waiting to have dirt and flowers added to them.
Looked out the window and noticed this little bird taking
part of the basket for her nest.
She came back quite a few times to pull off more material.
This is the best picture I could get through the window.
Don't know what kind of bird it is.
Some kind of sparrow?

We went out to a local nursery and got some petunias
this morning to plant in the baskets.

After lunch the petunias were planted in the baskets and hung up.

Once back in the house I did my usual puttering about the house
stuff till supper.

The new ice cream flavor we had yesterday was super good and
I've added this flavor to my favorite list too.
It was creamy milk chocolate flavor with chocolate syrup swirled
throughout.

So ends another day.
A happy and healthy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

A parking lot visit 🙂

A morning just like yesterday but a couple degrees warmer at 57.

This field last week was filled with dandelions.
Should be even more next year!

Walked to the edge of town this morning and then around
both the cemeteries a few times
and then back home again.

Nice to see that the fountain in the town pond has been
turned on for the summer.

Pasture behind the cemetery on the hill.
The one bull in the middle was over by the fence but by
the time I got my phone out he had run away.
They don't usually run away so fast.
I must have startled him.

Passed a house on the way home that is getting all brand new windows.
Every window in the house was out.
That seems like a lot of windows to install in one day.

Rabbits, deer, lots of different birds and a ground hog
all were along the road back to the house.

Walked 6 miles

⛅️     🙂     ☀️

Right after breakfast we went to the Shop and Save for our
usual Tuesday morning shopping.
But before we got there we stopped at the Dollar General first
and I went in with Ken.
Waited in the car at the Shop and Save though,
and I'm glad I did.
A car pulled up and the person getting out of the car was
my friend Bettye.
We kept our distance but she gave me this vase of beautiful flowers
and card.
My birthday is coming up on Saturday and she knew from reading my
blog that we went shopping on Tuesday.
We had a nice little visit in the parking lot.
I'm thankful for the flowers but also
to see and talk to her in person.
Thanks so much Bettye!

These nice sunny days are great for hanging the clothes out on the line.

It seem that the leaves here at Happy Trails have popped out
in the last few days.

We did more painting this afternoon.
This time the chairs that we keep out back by the fire pit.
They were in the garage and that's were we painted them.
Too heavy to carry all the way out back so we
are waiting to get the tractor back before putting them out back.

Did a little puttering around outside and then sat out
on the front porch.

Ken got a new flavor of ice cream today and I'm looking
forward to trying it later.
Milk Chocolate Swirl
I'll let you know tomorrow how good it is!!

That's been my day.
A happy and healthy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Swing

55 degrees this morning, calm and a mix of sun and clouds.
A great morning for a walk.
Walked to town and then up to the school.
The school parking lot is a good place to turn around and
head back home.

Rose
This picture is for you.
The church in town is in about the middle of the picture.
This is taken up by the school.

The lilac bushes in town are in bloom now and I stopped by
the ones I passed just to smell them.
All three colors are pretty but my favorite is the
deep purple.

Walked 6 miles.

⛅️     🙂     ⛅️     ☀️

Got some stuff done inside the house in the morning.

It turned into a beautiful sunny summer like day.
Temperature was just over 80 degrees
so we went outside after lunch.

Ken washed our very dirty jeep.
While he did that I got our swing cleaned up and ready to paint.
We've had it about 6 years.  It was made with pressure treated wood
and after the years it just didn't look very nice anymore.
I got the a frame of it painted and then Ken
helped me paint the swing part.

Couldn't sit in it today because the paint was still sticky
but I'll be sitting there tomorrow.

Monday and once again Cross Stitch progress.
Just have the border to do and some more words.
It should be finished next week except for the
outlining of the whole thing.

Sunday

Happy Sunday

I Refuse to be Discouraged

I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry:
I refuse to be downhearted,
and here's the reason why...

I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
and I am on His team.

He is all wise and powerful,
Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.

My God knows all that's happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.

When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.

When circumstances threaten
to rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.

And when my heart melts within me,
and weakness takes control,
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.

The great " I AM" is with me,
My life is in His hand,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in His strength I stand.

I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
as through this life I trod.

I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
my prayers have reached
the heart of God,
I'm resting in His love.

I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on His face;
The battle's His, the victory is mine;
He'll help me win the race.
 ~ Lita Kurtzer

Isaiah 41:10
KJV
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed;
for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee:
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.

A Blessed Sunday to you.

Walking in the cloud

A nice 50 degrees this morning when I left the house.
Sunrise is now 5:55 and it is nice that I don't have to wait
for it to get light before I can walk. 🙂
Left this morning at 6:10.
From the end of my driveway I could see a cloud down the hill.
I'm right in the cloud here.

Walked to town and out of the cloud right into the sunshine.

Walked through town this morning and over the to
Dollar General where I turned around in the parking lot
and headed back home again.

Saw Lisa out running and we stopped for a short chat.
She lives up the road from where we lived in town and she
commented that she will miss seeing my old daisy garden each day
that the new people mowed down.
There are rabbits around most days but this morning there seemed
to a lot more than usual!!
Smelled a skunk on the way to town and sure enough
one got hit crossing the street.
Walked 6 miles
⛅️     🙂     ⛅️
Did inside stuff around the house in the morning and
got a load of laundry hung outside.

After lunch I went outside.
Didn't do much out there but walk around Happy Trails.
Picked up a few branches that fell and put them on the fence and just
enjoyed being outside.
Crossed the street and talked to the cows in the pasture.
Sat on the porch for a little while too.

Back in the house I made a few more squares
and worked on the cross stitch.
Supper time came and went and now here I am blogging.
The days just zip right by.

A happy and healthy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

Walking in the rain

52 degrees this morning when I walked and calm.
It was raining though and rained the whole time I walked.
Wore my rain pants and had my umbrella.
Too warm to wear my rain slicker.

Walked to town.

Walked all around town up and down the streets
and then headed back home.

Pretty quiet on this rainy morning.
Walked 6 miles

🌧     🙂     ☔️

Doing all the usual things around the house today.
Housework
Weave-its
Reading
Cross Stitch

We took a drive to Grantsville to the Walgreens.
Ken had to pick up his medicine.
As we left the house just down the road was a bunch of
wild turkeys.  I managed to get a picture from the car of
one of them. Not such a great picture but I've been trying to
get a picture for a long time.

On the way back home we stopped at the scenic lookout
for a little while.  Everything is looking so nice and green from there now.

It rained on and off most of the day and then late in the day
the sun came out.
A bit too late to get outside and do any work.
Hopefully tomorrow will be sunny.

That's it for today.
A happy and healthy day to you.

Vee - I use the pizza dough recipe that came with my bread machine.  The secret for making pizza at home is to bake it on a stone in the oven. It makes all the difference. The stone goes in the oven when preheating the oven and then when pizza is ready to be cooked a peel is used to put it on the stone.
If you want the dough recipe I use let me know and I'll put it on my recipe blog.

Yard of butter cups

Took a blogging day off yesterday but back today.

Sunset last evening

The temperature was 40 degrees when I left on my walk this morning.
Wind still around but not nearly as strong as the last couple of days.
There was a very light misty drizzle a couple of times,
but for the most part just cloudy.

Walked to town and around the lower cemetery when I first
reached town.

Remember the house a few days ago that I thought was getting
an extension added on - well it looks like it is just a deck after all.

From the cemetery I walked around town and over to the ball
park and walked the loop there.
Then made my way back home again.

Passed by this yard that was covered in butter cups.
Tried to get a single bloom picture but it was just too windy
for my phone to get a picture that wasn't blurry.

No people out walking this morning but did see
all the usual people going by in cars and trucks who wave to me.

Walked my usual 6 miles
Found a penny

☁️     🙂     💰

Another month that there is no Baby Blanket work day
at church, but I did start another blanket for June.
Maybe by then we can meet again and I'll have 4 blankets done.

Finished another row of 24 weave-it squares and added it on to
the bedspread I'm making.
Now just 9 more rows to go.

Knitted some dish/wash cloths for my friend Bettye.
Her birthday is coming up next week.
Can post the picture now because she already has them.
Hi Bettye - Happy Birthday a little early!! 🎈🎂

Did some house cleaning and then just puttered about.
Stayed cloudy and on the cool side all day.

We made pizza again for supper.

That's about it for today.
A happy and healthy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

The Tree

49 degrees this morning when I left on my walk.
It was a cloudy morning with a little sun once in a while and
VERY WINDY !
Another walk to town, around town, once around the ball park
and back home again.

Almost lost my ball cap a few times because of the wind.
Walking with the wind it pushed me along
but it was a workout walking into the wind,
especially up hills!!
The wind had me laughing quite a few times.  🙂

Didn't see anyone else out walking.
Rabbits or deer either.

Was almost home and realized I didn't take any pictures.
So took this picture as I rounded the last curve before home.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     ⛅️     🙂     🌬

Shopping day at the Shop and Save and we went right after breakfast
like we usually do.
I went inside with Ken this week wearing my new face mask.
It worked great and not once did I complain.  🙂
It did take longer with the both of us going in.
When Ken goes alone he's in and out in no time!
Again only a few people in the store but even in regular
times there is hardly ever anybody in the store early morning.

Once again we we arrived home the little calf was out.
He spends more time by us then in his pasture.
He never wanders far and does go back home on his own!

Much too windy to go out in the woods this afternoon so
stayed in and worked on the cross stitch.
Did a little reading and made a couple of weave-it squares too.

Bill, these tree pictures are for you. 🙂
The tree was like that for many years but this past
year the whole thing finally died.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy and healthy day to you.

11 gloves

A walk under cloudy skies this morning.
Temperature 54 degrees F and a little breezy.
Walked down the hill to the main road and up another to town.
My route today was up and down the streets in town,
a loop around the ball park and home again.

Remember the wishing well by the church?
Now they have added a bench there.
Noticed a trench was dug and electric was put in
so they aren't finished there yet.
Hard to image now that a house stood there not too long ago.
One day a year in town there is a day called Spring Clean up
and you can put anything out at the curb and it will be carted away
to the dump and today was the day.
Usually just a few people will put something out.
Well it was different this year.
There was lots of stuff sitting out at the curb but I didn't see anything
worth taking home.
With people having to stay home it looks like lots of people
did a lot of clearing out of basements, attics, and sheds.
This was by FAR THE MOST stuff that anyone put out.
I couldn't believe how much stuff was there.
It's going to take a truck load just for that one house.
Wouldn't it be nice to rummage through everything.
You would be sure to find something you needed!! 🙂

As many of you know I've been putting gloves that I find as I walk along
up on the posts along the road and today put up yet another one.
This makes 11.
The first one went up back in November and all of them are still there!

Rebecca was out walking.
She was leaving town as I was getting there.

Walked 6 miles

☁️     🙂     ☁️

After breakfast we took our trash out to the refuse center
out on Bumble Bee Road.
I love the name of that road!
Made a stop at the post office on the way back home.
That was our outing for the day.

Look who we spotted over by the power box
when we came back home.  😃

After lunch the sun came out and it was 60 degrees so
I went outside and did some more work clearing the woods out back.
Got the back section finished and decided that is all the clearing
I'm going to do of the woods. The rest will just be natural woods
except for making the trails.
Ken came out and we started another trail that starts in the front.

After a couple of hours of that we sat on the porch for a while.

Supper was easy this evening.
Left over potato soup from the other day.

Another cross stitch progress report this Monday.

Last weeks picture, HERE.

 That's been my day.
A happy and healthy day to you.
