Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Rainy walk

Waited till it was light enough to walk which was 7:04.
60 degrees and raining.
If it wasn't raining I probably could have left a few minutes earlier.
Sunrise 7:12

With umbrella up I walked to town and there was a light rain all the way.
2 1/2 miles into town the rain stopped.
Walked through town and back on some side streets.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.

The For Sale sign I saw the other day in the yard where the
German Shepherd lives is now gone.
Wonder what happened there?

When I headed back home it started raining again and at
times it was coming down pretty hard.

Haven't walked in the rain for a while so it was a nice change.
Like to hear the rain on the umbrella and on the leaves too.

Walked 6.2 miles
☔️     ☔️
I've been working on the next baby blanket and have 25 squares done.
(70 make up a blanket)
Using these colors.
Will arrange the pattern when all squares are done and then
sew them.
The sun came out this afternoon.
Looking Up

I don't have a built in island in the kitchen but I have
a high table that I use as one.
I had my cookbooks under it on the shelf
and today I moved them to the bookshelf.
The shelf under the table is now home to
a cow that Ken made years ago and some old milk bottles.

No pizza at Brenda's this evening.
We stayed home and used up some more tomatoes and had BLT's.

That's it for today.
Hope your day was a happy one.

A picture and a verse

Romans 1:20  KJV
For the invisible things of him from the creation
of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made,
even his eternal power and Godhead;
so that they are without excuse.

A Blessed Sunday to you.

Walking To Town

Waited until it was light enough to walk and left the
house at 7:00 and headed to town.
Surprisingly warm at 64 degrees.
Sunrise 7:10

It's been a while since I walked right from home and it was
nice walking to town again.

Just at the main road 1 1/2 miles from home, neighbor Harry
has put together this nice fall decoration in his front yard.

Walked to town, up and down the main road and a couple
of side streets and then back home again.

On the way to town I saw 11 deer
and on the way home saw quite a few wild turkeys
and a couple of chipmunks.

Lisa was out running in town and we stopped for a little chat.

I won't have to worry about the German Shepherd coming after me anymore,
there is a for sale sign in their front yard.
Of course it could take a year or so for them to sell the house.

I noticed two other houses on the way to town have for sale signs out too.

Walked 6 miles

🍁     🍂
We haven't had ice cream in the house for a few days now
and have been missing our ice cream snack in the evening.
A sale started for Turkey Hill brand at Shop and Save so we went and
got in a good supply.
The sale was 4 for $10 and we came home with eight.
That should last us till the next sale.

Got a bit of housework done and then walked around outside.
Ken has been working on the stone wall along the cinder blocks
down by the basement.
It is slow going but he has gotten a lot done.
I'll take a picture on Monday to show his progress.

This evening I plan on doing some reading, making weave-it squares
and of course having a dish of ice cream.

Hope your day was a happy one.

A walk in Oakland with lots of pictures

No time for blogging yesterday with it being a Fingerprint workday at church.
Only had a time for a 4 mile walk in the morning before we left.
It was a Very Good day yesterday and we hit a new record for
assembling the most books in a single day.
10,500
That number is a big WOW.
You know that God was sure behind that!! 🙂
We worked from 9:00 AM till 8:00 PM with breaks for lunch and supper.
People come and went all during the day and at one point
there were 27 of us working. Other times just a few of us.
A long and tiring day but lots of fun too and
what a good feeling at the end of the day.
📖     📖
I had a different walk this morning.
When Ken left to have breakfast with Edd he dropped me off
in Oakland a little up from the library there.
He then went to breakfast and did some errands while I walked.
I started my walk a little after 7:00
This morning it was 49 degrees and a mix of sun and clouds.
Sunrise 7:10
It was a half mile from the library to here at the beginning of the
walking path.
Stopped on the bridge and took a picture looking in each direction.

Continuing along the path.

The path ends and crosses a street and goes along the road for a short ways.
Just up the road the path continues.
Along the way

The path ends and across the street another path starts
which goes in the woods
and runs along the railroad tracks for a while.
After a bit the path heads away from the tracks
and runs along the river.
The path dwindles down to nothing and I walked to the waters edge.
Then turned around and walked back to the start by the bridge again
where Ken picked me up and we went home.
What a great walk.
The weather was perfect too.
Walked just over 6 miles.
     🍁     🌤

Didn't do much today.
Just the every day chores.
This afternoon mostly sat on the porch and read.

That's it for today.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Purple

Drove into town, parked at the pond and started walking at 6:35.
49 degrees and once the sun came up there was a mix
of sun and clouds.
Sunrise 7:08

Walked around the cemetery at the top of the hill and then up and
down the main road in town.
Then up and down some of the side streets.

A new metal roof on a house in town.
Yes, it is purple.
First purple roof I've ever seen.
Walked over to the ball park and walked around there a couple of times
and then over to the lower cemetery and walked around there too.
Back to the car and home.
Sure nice to be out walking.

Saw only one deer and one rabbit.

Walked 6 miles
🍁     🌤
After breakfast we went to the church to unload the trailer
to get ready for a work day doing Fingerprints tomorrow.

Such a beautiful sunny fall day and much too nice to stay inside
so was outside most of the afternoon.
Didn't do much, but enjoyed walking around Happy Trails
and sitting on the porch.

Hope your day was a sunny and happy one.

Couldn't Walk

Wasn't able to get my morning walk in today.
We left for Staunton, VA first thing.
The church trailer was hitched up to the truck and loaded with
a pallet of boxes of the Romans books we assembled during
the Fingerprint Ministry.

Dropped them off down at the warehouse
and picked up another pallet of books to assemble.
(20,000 more)
Will start assembling them on Thursday.
Other churches involved with this ministry just call it
Assembling Scriptures.
Our pastor put the name Fingerprints to it because of all the
fingerprints on all the books from the people who put them together.

Since it is over a 3 hour drive one way that is about all we
had time for today.
We always find it amusing that when we are in the car for
most of the day sitting down,
when we get home it feels so good to sit in a chair!!

Took this picture from the top of our driveway when we got home.

Looking forward to getting back to my walk tomorrow.
I really don't like missing a day!!

Hope your day was a sunny and happy one.

Deer under the bridge

Another day driving to town for my walk.
Started walking 6:38.
64 degrees and once the sun came up there was a mix of sun and clouds.
Sunrise was 7:06
Good Morning
Walked through town and up and down most of the side streets.
Back through town and then headed over to the ball park loop
and walked around there a couple of times.
Then I made my way over to the cemeteries and walked around both
of them a couple of times too.

No people or animals did I see around town.
Pretty quiet for a Monday morning.
Walked just over 6 miles
🌤     🍁
Our neighbor took a bunch of his cattle to auction on Saturday
and the poor mama cows have been calling out for their babies
the last two days.
It is such as sad sound and I feel bad for them.
Today was the first day I didn't hear them.

One of the deer has found a spot that it likes underneath the
arched stone bridge that Ken made.
The deer stayed under there for a good 3 hours.
Some times it stood, some times it laid down, and we even saw her
with her eyes closed sleeping.
I did a whole lot of dusting today and moved a bunch of little stuff
around and set things in different places.
It is almost like getting new things but not having to buy anything.

It was pretty windy and about lunch time it clouded up
and we had some rain.
Hung some laundry out and happy to say it all dried
before the rain came.

Didn't go to Brenda's for half price pizza this Monday
but stayed home and made it here.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Rose - No, I didn't make the little jean purse. Sewing IS NOT one of my talents! 🙂  I take the jean purse with me on my walks.  It is just big enough to carry my phone, pepper spray, tissue, a piece of gum, and my key.

A Gift

Drove to town again and parked at the pond.
60 degrees this morning.
Was surprised it was that warm after yesterdays 45!
Mostly cloudy with some sun and it was calm.

Not a whole lot of color in the sky this morning
but it sure was pretty watching the sun come up.

Walked around the lower cemetery first and then around town.
Saw Rebecca out walking.
Passed by the old house and there was a car in the driveway and
the front porch light was out.
Seems like they are finally moving in.
I am curious to see what they do with the yard.

From there I walked over to the industrial park again and walked around there.

Lots of rabbits around all over this morning.
Here is one of the nine I saw.
Then headed back to the jeep and home.
Sure was nice being out this morning walking.
I think that every morning though. 🙂

Walked 6 miles
Found a Penny 💰
Victor - I do save all the coins I find on my walks
and put them in old glass banks.
 🍁     🍁
We got a hand made gift from our friend Dennis the other day.
No special occasion, he was just being nice.
A coat rack made with old porcelain door knobs.
I love it.
Ken put it up in the laundry/mud room.
So to say Thank You
I baked him some Chocolate Chippers.

Ken worked on his rock wall by the cinder block.
I had planned on going outside but never did make out there.
 Got busy doing things inside.
Was busy but don't seem to have gotten much done.
I could use a couple more hours in the day.

Will be making some weave-it square this evening.
The new baby blanket is rust and orange.
Thought they would be good colors for fall.

That will about do it for today's post.
Hope your day was a happy one.

A little bridge

Drove into town and started walking at 6:35.
45 degrees and sunny once the sun rose and no wind.
Sunrise 7:03

Walked to the post office and dropped some mail down the slot.
Continued through town to the Dollar General and from there
went to the industrial park and walked around in there.

Walked around some side streets, around the ball park loop
and back to the pond to the jeep and drove home.

Saw three deer and a rabbit.

Walked 6 miles
🍁     🍁
I got a yen for French toast while I was walking so made that for our breakfast.

Then we drove over to Uniontown to go to Home Depot.
It is the closest one to where we live and is right next to a Lowe's.
We needed to go to both stores.
Had lunch while we were there.

Back home we went out back and worked outside.
Ken on his tractor harvesting rocks and put a bucket load
on the wall by the cinder block.

Here is a little bridge Ken made leading to a couple of trails
a few weeks ago.  Note it is not made of rocks. 🙂
This is from the other direction.
I worked out here on the right of the bridge clearing brush.
Finished up and then sat out on the front porch for a little while.
Then it was time to come in and make supper.

This evening I'll have time to work on the next baby blanket which
I started yesterday with the ladies.
Hope to get some reading in too.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Thursday

Drove into town this morning and started my walk at 6:35.
47 degrees, sunny and calm.
Sunrise 7:02

This happy welcome sign that sits at the end of someones driveway
makes me smile as I walk past.
A nice random walk all around town for me this morning.
Up and down the main road and sides roads.

Around both cemeteries also.
The field behind the cemetery on top of the hill is all cleared
of corn and now there are cows on it plus a whole mess of geese.

Walking around the ball park loop were Lena and her daughter Rebecca.
Had a short chat with them.
Walking past the old house I noticed that no one has moved in yet.
It's been 3 weeks today that we went to closing!

Then headed back by the town pond,
hopped in the jeep and drove back home.
Walked 6 miles
☀️     ☀️
No time to dawdle once I got back home.
Got a few quick things done and then back in the jeep for me.
This time it was to go and meet the other women at church
for Baby Blanket Day.

Marilyn brought breakfast for us this morning
and Dorothy did the devotional.

Then it was time to work on the blankets
amid lots of laughter!!

There were 10 of us there today.

On the way home from there I stopped at Walmart to get a few things.
While there I met two of the women I'd just said good-bye
to at church!!

By the time I got home it was 1:30,
had a late lunch
and then didn't feel like doing any work at all.
So I thought it would be a good afternoon to walk around
Happy Trails a bit
and then read.

Ken made a fire outback in the fire pit and we had roasted hot dogs for supper.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Vee - Darkness dictates whether I drive to town or walk.  If I want to wait till it is light out I will walk.  If I get tired of waiting for it to get light enough, I hop in the jeep.  Once in town if it isn't quite light out yet the street lights light my way.

Rose - Yes, lots of yellow flowers.  Seems to me that there is a lot more Golden Rod around than usual this year!!

Bees Nest

Let the house for my walk at 6:55
49 degrees, sunny and calm
Sunrise 7:01

Today I waited till it was light enough and walked to town.
Went around the lower cemetery and then walked up and down the main
road and a couple side roads.

Counted seven deer.
Pretty quite around town.
Didn't see anyone else out running or walking.

I noticed a huge bees nest walking on the road back to my house.
Passed by this many times but today was the first time I noticed it.
It was near the edge of the road in an apple tree
and not very high up so I was able to just reach up and
take a couple of pictures.

Continued walking up the hill and here I
am home once again.
Walked 6 miles

🍂     🍁     🍃

Today we cleaned out the gutters on the house.
Or rather Ken did and I watched.
I also prayed because he was up quite high out back by the basement doors.
All went well and nice to have that job out of the way.

A beautiful sunny day and a great one for getting some laundry done.

I got a few things done inside and read a bit too.

Tired something different for supper this evening,
Eggplant Pizza.
Recipe is HERE.

So ends another blog post.
Hope your day was a happy one.
