Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A walk in Oakland with lots of pictures

No time for blogging yesterday with it being a Fingerprint workday at church.
Only had a time for a 4 mile walk in the morning before we left.
It was a Very Good day yesterday and we hit a new record for
assembling the most books in a single day.
10,500
That number is a big WOW.
You know that God was sure behind that!! πŸ™‚
We worked from 9:00 AM till 8:00 PM with breaks for lunch and supper.
People come and went all during the day and at one point
there were 27 of us working. Other times just a few of us.
A long and tiring day but lots of fun too and
what a good feeling at the end of the day.
πŸ“–     πŸ“–
I had a different walk this morning.
When Ken left to have breakfast with Edd he dropped me off
in Oakland a little up from the library there.
He then went to breakfast and did some errands while I walked.
I started my walk a little after 7:00
This morning it was 49 degrees and a mix of sun and clouds.
Sunrise 7:10
It was a half mile from the library to here at the beginning of the
walking path.
Stopped on the bridge and took a picture looking in each direction.

Continuing along the path.

The path ends and crosses a street and goes along the road for a short ways.
Just up the road the path continues.
Along the way

The path ends and across the street another path starts
which goes in the woods
and runs along the railroad tracks for a while.
After a bit the path heads away from the tracks
and runs along the river.
The path dwindles down to nothing and I walked to the waters edge.
Then turned around and walked back to the start by the bridge again
where Ken picked me up and we went home.
What a great walk.
The weather was perfect too.
Walked just over 6 miles.
     🍁     🌀

Didn't do much today.
Just the every day chores.
This afternoon mostly sat on the porch and read.

That's it for today.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Yesterday sounds like such a fun day working with like-minded people! And I so enjoyed your pics from today. I so would love a place like this to walk close to home. And the start of it really nice...nice is not the right word, but beautiful is not quite right either. But I just love it/love that bridge.

How fun to change things up a bit. It looks like there are a lot of interesting things to see along this route. I see early signs of fall on some of the trees. Have a great weekend.

10,500! Definitely, a big WOW! I loved the path as it goes into the woods and along the railroad tracks (which is a great picture) and then dwindles down to nothing at water's edge. Now, that's a happy ending, for sure!

Wow, 10,500 is certainly a milestone. The library is situated in a very beautiful setting and made for a lovely walking area.
