Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Beautiful morninig sky

A beautiful sunrise this morning.
Couldn't decide which picture I liked best so here's all three of them.

⛄     ⛄
Only 9 degrees this morning at 7:00 when I left on my morning walk.
No wind and I had on my super warm coat so it was a great walk and I stayed
nice and warm.
Today I wore my snow sneakers with ice grippers.
Walked all around town where I could, mostly up and down the side roads.
The main road has no shoveled sidewalks so I stayed off that road.
The ball park and the cemeteries had too deep snow for my sneakers so
couldn't walk there either.
But I did manage to get in a 5 mile walk.
No other people about walking but did see quite a lot of animal tracks again.
After the beautiful sunrise the clouds took over and that was the last of
the sun I saw.
⛄     ⛄
Stayed home this morning and got some laundry done and some
house cleaning too.

By afternoon the sun peeked out from behind the clouds every so often.

Spent some time this afternoon reading and should finish my book later this evening.

For supper I made Baked Ziti.  It has been a while since I've
made it and was good to have it again.  Easy to make too.

Will be leaving for church in just a little bit.
Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Tuesday

⛄     ⛄
Snow came back today and I had a beautiful snowy walk this morning.
17 degrees and a little windy.
Didn't leave till 7:15 when it was a little lighter.
Snow too deep to walk with my snow sneakers so had to walk in my snow
boots.  Walked down the driveway and when I got to the road it was a bit
slippery and I slipped a couple of times so went back inside and put my
ice grippers on my boots.  That worked great and I didn't slip again.
Walked through town trying to stay out of the way of the snow plows.
Made a couple loops around the cemeteries and the ball park loop,
back around town and home.
Can't walk as fast in snow boots and the snow was deep in places around
the cemeteries.
No one else out walking.
Walked  4.7 miles.
 ⛄     ⛄
We started another puzzle this morning.
This one is a 1000 pieces and it is a map of Maryland.

Snowed on and off all day with breaks of sunshine scattered throughout the day.
Went outside after lunch and shoveled the driveway.
Ken didn't feel like snow blowing so I just shoveled.

It was bowling day so we left mid afternoon for our usual
3 games of bowling.  There were 5 of us bowling today.
My games were
121
170
172
🎳
After bowling we all went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant.
It was a nice day but good to be home now.
Looking forward to sitting in my chair and reading.

Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Heavy frost

🐞     🐞
All our snow is gone for now but there was such a heavy frost this morning
that it looked as if it snowed.
Up and out the door by 6:45.
23 degrees but no wind.  Sun wasn't up yet but I did see it before
I was back home.
Walked through town, around both cemeteries a couple of times
and around the ball park loop a couple of times too.
Back through town and home.
It was a 5 mile walk.  I think I'll be walking 5 miles this week and then
next week I'll be back to my normal 6.
Didn't see anyone else out walking, nor did I see any animals either.
 🐞     🐞
After breakfast we drove over to Uniontown, Pa.  There is both a
Lowe's and a Home Depot there and we wanted to check out both
stores for some door knobs and lights for the new house.
We got the front door knobs and the knobs for the door from
the garage into the house and other one for the pedestrian garage door
out the back.
Found lights we liked too for by the front door and both
French doors.

We decided to go out to Brenda's for supper.  Didn't get pizza though,
I got a cheese calzone which was huge so I just ate half of it.
Nice to be home now in a nice warm house and I think I'll
go and read awhile.

Count your blessings and have a happy day.

The Difference

The Difference by Arthur George Twill

I got up early one morning and rushed right out into the day:
I had so much to accomplish, that I didn't have time to pray.

Problems, just tumbled about me and heavier came each task,
"Why doesn't God help me," I wondered.
He answered, "You didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on gray and bleak.
I wondered, "Why God didn't show me."
He answered, "You didn't seek."

I tried to come into God's presence, I used all the keys in the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided, "My child you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day:
I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.

A Blessed Sunday to you my friends.
Isn't wonderful to know Jesus Loves US!!

House Picture

🏡     🏡
Up and out of the house at 7:20 this morning for a walk around town.
It was 38 degrees and the sun was out for a short while before it
clouded over.
First stopped at the library to drop another book down the slot.
Then a walk twice around the ball park loop
and a couple of times around both cemeteries.
Stopped down at the barn by the Drane house to say good morning to the
horses.  They barely looked up as I talked to them.
Pretty quiet around town early this Saturday morning.
This morning my walk was up to 4.2 miles, before long I'll be back to my
usual 6 miles.
Lovely to be outside.
🏡     🏡
The latest puzzle, I think it is number 5.
I baked a BIG batch of Chocolate Chippers for the kids at church
for tomorrow.

This is the stone we picked out yesterday.
For the porch and inside wall by the gas stove in the living room.
After lunch we went up to the house site.  It has been a while since I was there
and was nice to see all the progress.
The French door and window in the dining area.
Propane Gas Tank
which is on the side by the garage.
Pretty sure the move in date will be some time in April.

It's been a nice day and another one to be thankful for my many blessings.
Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Back to walking and blogging

Today I decided I've been sick long enough.
Tired of sitting around the house so I bundled up and headed out the door for a walk.
I waited until later in the morning when it was light and the sun was out.
No wind but it was a chilly 19 degrees.
Thought I'd just walk around a bit without any specific amount of miles in mind.
Had on my snow sneakers with ice grippers.
First walked over to the library and dropped off some books down the drop.
Next stop public works to drop off the water bill.
Walked down through town, around both of the cemeteries
and around the ball park loop.
Here are a few pictures I took along the way.

The sun made the snow look like glitter was sprinkled on top of it.
Lots of animal tracks around.  Not sure what this is from.
I ended up walking 3.8 miles.
I was a bit tired at the end of my walk but felt good.
So nice to get outside in the sunshine.
Feeling the sun on my face is like medicine.

The house continues to get worked on.
The propane tank had been delivered and hooked up.
Electric is just about finished.
The garage doors have been delivered and installed.

Today we drove up to Morgangtown to a stone store with Ronnie
and picked out the stone that will be on the porch and inside the house on the wall
by the gas stove in the living room.

The kitchen cabinets have been chosen as well.
They will be white and some will have glass doors.
So many decisions have to be made.
It is fun though.  I've never had a house that I've been able to
pick out everything.

Well that is it for today.
Nice to be back to blogging too.
Will be around to visit you all and see what you've been up to these
late couple of weeks.

Thanks for all the prayers, well, wishes and cards while I've been
sick.  Still have a cough which will probably last another week or so
and still get tired more easily than I should but it sure feels
great to be back.

Count your blessings and have a happy and healthy day.

I've been out of commision

this past week with the flu.
It's been quite a week and I'm now just starting to feel
a bit human again.

I'm on the mend but it will be awhile yet before I'll be back to
walking and blogging.
Everything I do is exhausting!!

The thing that comes to mind while I've been sick is how
thankful I am that I usually have such good health.
I know this will pass and I'll be back to normal again.
So many people have a chronic illness that they just have to learn to live with.

Oh and one good thing I've lost some weight.  😊

Count your blessings and may you have a happy
and HEALTHY day.
Be back soon.

Barn Collective

Linking up with Tom for the Barn Collective.
This barn is on the way from my house to the new one.

🚜     🚜
Cold, dark and icy, so decided to wait until later in the day for a walk.
It was clear first thing in the morning but then it clouded up and
started snowing.
When it was light I bundled up for my walk including wearing my snow
sneakers and ice grippers.  Very icy and I slipped some even with the ice
grippers so I turned around and went back in the house.
Did some loops in the house.
Later in the afternoon the sun came out and I went out and tried to get
some more ice off the driveway.
By this time I could have went for a walk but just never did.
I was going to walk to the library and the post office but then realized
it was a holiday and they would be closed.

Inside the house the latest puzzle is finished.
I think it is number 4 for the season.
We all liked working this one.  Not easy but not that hard either.
Ken was up at the building site helping out.  The rest of the doors are being
installed today and I think the garage doors are supposed to be
delivered this week.

Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Bible app verse

I have a Bible app on my phone and each day it gives me a verse
for the day.
This is today's verse.

John 11:25
Jesus said unto her,
I am the resurrection, and the life:
He that believeth in me, though he were dead,
yet shall he live.

Picture is from yesterday.
Today it is cold (high of 10) but a beautiful sunny one.
A blessed Sunday to you.

A snowy day

The snow is back today.
⛄     ⛄
I waited till it was light out and then went for a nice snowy walk.
15 degrees (that was the high for the day) and a bit windy.
Good thing I was wearing my snow sneakers and ice grippers because there was
ice under the snow in places.
I walked around town trying to stay out of the way of the snow plows.
The main road was plowed but they were just getting to the side roads.
Walked around one of the cemeteries but the snow was too deep for my
snow sneakers at the other one.
I ended up walking quite a few times around the ball park loop
because I was out of the way there.
I'm on the second loop here.  Those are my footprints from the first loop.
Didn't get all 6 miles in today, just a bit under 4.
 ⛄     ⛄
I made us blueberry pancakes for breakfast.
That's always a nice treat.

It snowed pretty much all day but we did have a few peeks at
the sun for a couple of minutes here and there.
I'd rather have snow than rain though, at least the snow makes everything pretty.

We went out to do a couple of errands and then were home
in the afternoon.
Ken has been working on taking his train layout apart and packing it up.

I mostly worked on the latest puzzle and should have it done in a day or two.
That's been my day so far.

Count your blessings and have a happy day.

A warm winter walk

The weather warmed up and it rained all last night.
The only snow around today is some piles of dirty snow from the plows.
Never fear though, cold weather is on the way along with some more snow.

The rain had stopped this morning for my walk.
It was a warm 54 degrees!!!
Nice being able to walk around both cemeteries and the ball park loop again
now that there is no snow on the paths and
no snow on the sidewalks either.
Nice walk all over the place.
The little horses are now in with the two bigger horses.
The one horse (I call Star) gave my hand a nuzzle.
It was cloudy and with a mile left of my walk a very light mist was in the air
but not enough to get me wet.
No more than fives minutes after I got home it started pouring.
Found a quarter.  💰

This morning I cleaned out and and cleaned the refrigerator.
Took everything out, wiped down all the shelves and organized it all.
Now if it would only stay that way.

After lunch I walked over to the library to get a couple of books that
were waiting for me to pick up.  Looked around and came home with another
one too.  Lori (librarian) and I talked about all the books that are on
our reading lists.  I told her my list is so long that I'll be dead before
I finish it.  She has a list like that too.
As you might have guessed when I got home I read.
😊
It's after supper now and I'm going to go and finish my book.

Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Window and the door

⛄     ⛄
On my morning walk today I walked up to the building site.
Ronnie, our builder passed me on his way there when I was about a mile
from getting there just after I took this picture.
Tim, Ronnie's new employee arrived right after me and then Ken
drove up in the truck.
I walked around the house picturing all my furniture and stuff in it.
Took a few more pictures while I was there.
I love the front door.
This is the bedroom.
And this is the box window which is right over the kitchen sink.
This is what I'll be looking at while I'm washing the dishes.
I'm planning on having potted herbs growing by the window.
Still to be installed are the French doors in the dining area and also
the French doors in the basement.

After taking the pictures I walked back home again.

Had some breakfast and then make some Mexican Rice to take along with us
for a day of playing Mexican Train.
It was our church Super Senior day out.
We all met at the church and brought a Mexican dish to eat for lunch.
It was fun day out.

I made some pizza dough in the bread machine and Ken is just
about to make the pizza for our supper.

That's been my day.
Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Windows with a view

This cute little red house is along one of my walk routes.
Have taken pictures of it before.
I think it looks so cute and pretty in the snow.
⛄     ⛄
It was above freezing during the day yesterday so some melting going
on but then it all froze again during the night.
Didn't walk first thing this morning because the ice was patchy and I wouldn't
be able to see where the ice was.  Not enough ice to wear my ice grippers
because there were more places without ice.

By the time it was light and was above freezing I went outside and cleared
the driveway of the left over slush and ice.
Still couldn't go for my walk because now I had to be home waiting for a
delivery.  (part of the stove they forgot to deliver last week)

Ken was up at the building site working.
He came home for lunch and then went back while I waiting around
for the delivery.  I read while I waited - my book is very good.
The delivery finally came 2:45 and I then got to leave on my
walk.  A walk around town and one of the cemeteries where the path
was cleared of snow.
The weather was beautiful - sunny and 45 - it felt like a spring day.
Ken took these pictures up at the house today for me.
Ronnie installed some windows and the front door today.
These are the living room windows and Ronnie is in the process of
putting in the front door in the picture.
This is the view from inside the house.
I'm so glad we took his advice and decided to put in two windows.
It will be nice and bright with a great view.
I am so looking forward to the day when we move in.
Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Knitting, windows, and a picture

We left first thing this morning to go down to Howard County
which is about a 3 hour drive for an appointment.
It was 29 degrees here with snow around.
Down the mountain the snow disappeared and when we got there
the temperature was 48 degrees and sunny.
We even took our coats off.
Ken dropped me off at a friends house and he went to his appointment.
My friend is going through a hard time and I stopped by to
cheer her up. 😊 We had a nice visit.
Ken picked me up when he was finished and we stopped at
Pot Belly for a late lunch and then headed back home.
I brought along some knitting to do during the car ride
and made 1 1/2 dish/wash clothes.
A friend of mine just moved into a new house yesterday
and I'm going to finish up the one and mail them off to her
for a little house warming gift.
On the way home we stopped at the building site to check things out.
The first window has been installed.
It is in the basement.
The outside of the window is a brick red like the one below
as are all the windows in the house.
The mail brought a happy surprise today.
My two youngest grandchildren's school pictures.
Japhy on the left who is in the 7 grade and will be 11 tomorrow.
Scout on the right and is in the 9 grade and is 14.
They have changed so much since I last saw them.
That's it for today.
They day has flown by.
BTW - I did put ice cream on the apple crisp yesterday. 😊

Count your blessings and have a happy day.

Warmer but more snow

⛄     ⛄
Well it did get warmer and I did get to go on my normal morning walk,
but it was snowing again.
The temperature was up to 33 degrees and there was a bit of a wind.
I left at 6:45 and wore my snow sneakers with the ice grippers on them.
Was a bit limited where I could walk because of the snow piled up
on the sidewalks.  Not having on my snow boots I couldn't walk around
the cemeteries either so I just walked around on the side streets.
It sure was nice taking a morning walk again.

Didn't see anyone else out walking,
but I did see lots of animals tracks of deer, rabbits, and some
small animal which I think were squirrels.
Walked 5.8 miles
⛄     ⛄
First thing after breakfast I got some chili started in the slow cooker
for supper tonight.

I had some apples sitting around that we didn't seem to be eating,
so I thought I use them up and make some Apple Crumble.
I'll have that tonight for my snack instead of ice cream.
Or maybe I'll put a bit of ice cream on top of it.  That sounds even better.

Finished the latest puzzle of the wolves howling at the moon.
I'm sure I'll have the next one started before long. 😊

Count your blessing and have a happy day.
