Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Blooms along my walk

64 degrees this morning again when I left on my walk but didn't leave until 8:00.
Mostly cloudy but did see the sun too.

Walked to town and all around and met Ken at the house
in town once again after getting my 6 miles in.

We were at the house when the inspector was there and so
was the buyer.
Things seem to have gone well except for a few minor things.
Next up will be the closing when the final papers are signed
in a few weeks time.
It sure will be nice to be finished with the whole process!!

Someone has been working hard on the garden down at the Drane house.
This was a tangled mess not too long ago
and now it looks neat and tidy.
I'm thinking they will be putting mulch over the plastic.
Just some pretty blooms I snapped pictures of along my walk.

Had a couple of thunder storms pass through in the afternoon.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Butterflies

Temperature 64 degrees F. with sun and clouds
when I started out on my morning walk.
Another walk to and around town ending up at the old house.

The pond down by the Drane house looks quite a bit over grown.
Saw the woman and her dog Max again but they were too far away to say hi to.
Another walker I haven't see before was walking around the ball park loop.

Met Ken at the old house to do a little cleaning up.
Ken power washed the back of the house and I vacuumed the inside.
Tomorrow the home inspector arrives.
Hope all goes well.
We can't think of any problems that he might find.

Lots of bees and butterflies were by the cone flowers
in the front of the old house and I was able to get a couple of pretty good pictures
of a swallowtail and a monarch.

Home in the afternoon and I had to get a bit of house cleaning done.

Nice to find some time to sit and read too.
Oh by the way, I found a nickel today. 🙂

Hope your day was a happy one.

Rose - No, don't like ALL flavors of ice cream. I like all kinds that are chocolate, but not anything with nuts in it.  Like plan vanilla too.

Vee - No, I've never given the horses a sugar cube or a carrot.  Yes, I'd ask first but don't really want to start. Most of the time they are just happy to have me pet them.

A new flavor

64 degrees this morning, sunny, and just a bit of a breeze.

Walked to town and walked around the ball park loop first.
Then on over to the cemeteries and walked around them a couple of times.

Then down the hill to the Drane house and snapped this picture of one of the horses.
She just ignored me and kept right on eating.
Here I'm walking down the from the cemetery back to town and the main road.

Saw quite a few deer and rabbits as I do most days.

Came across the woman walking her dog again up around the cemetery.
Still don't know her name but I did meet her dog.
His name is Max and he is a nice friendly dog.

Walked around the streets in town till I had my 6 miles in and then went over to the old house.
Ken met me there and he got all the trimming done while I mowed the lawn.
We were there most of the day.
We needed to have a radon gas vent put in at the old house and the guy was there doing that today.

Had our usual Monday supper of pizza out at Brenda's.

Discovered a new flavor of ice cream and had some last night.
Turkey Hill brand called Triopolitan Triple Chocolate (a trio of milk, dark and chocolate ice cream).
It also has little chocolate chips in it.
I'll be having it again later this evening.
I think I just might have another favorite flavor.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Saturday

Up and out this morning at 6:30 for my walk.
58 degrees and mostly sunny.

A walk down the hill and then up the hill to town.

Nice to see one of the old houses right on the main street getting some work done to it.
Hope it gets a whole new make over!
Walked through town and passed the old house.
Then went behind the house and walked the roads up that way.
Then it was back home again for my usual 6 miles.

I was walking along thinking I haven't found a penny in quiet a long time.
I no sooner got the words out of my mouth (yes, I talk to myself) when I looked down and there was a penny in the middle of the road!!!

Rebecca was out walking and we stopped for a brief chat.
💰     💰
While I was hanging the laundry out on the line this morning, the twin fawns were wandering around very near me.
I just kept on hanging the clothes up and they never did run away.

Worked out back today.
Just too nice to stay inside.
We are making a path up to the fire pit we made for grilling.
Lined part of the path with rocks and put wood chips there which we made with our chipper.
This is what we have done so far.
The fire pit is hard to see because it is in the shadows.
We roasted hot dogs over the fire for supper and had baked beans to go with it.
Then I roasted 3 marshmallows to a golden perfection.
One marshmallow is only 25 calories!

We ran out of ice cream so no ice cream today, but we have a cantaloupe and will be having that for our snack tonight.

That's been my Saturday.
Hope your day was sunny and bright.

New phone

This morning I walked to town and it was 58 degrees and sunny.
Walking up the highway Ken passed me in the truck and gave me toot on his way to Denny's for breakfast with Edd.

Some cows along the way.
These belong to Farmer Marvin and he has a few fields and pastures scattered around here and there.
A couple of weeks ago I found this ball cap on the shoulder of the road and hung it here by the guard rail.
It is still there.
Walking down the main road here in town.
Continued on to the ball park and walked around there a couple of times, made a stop at the old house and then headed back home.

The woman I saw the other day walking her dog was out again this morning.
Maybe she will be a regular now.
We've said a few words to each other as we pass by.
That is usually how walking friends start.
Before long I'll know her name and we will stop for a chat when we see each other.
I've met a lot of people in town that way.

Saw a few deer, some gold finches, and a couple of monarch butterflies on the milk weed flowers on the side of the road.
🦋     🐄     🌺
We had, or I should say Ken, had a garage sale a couple of Saturday's ago at the old house.
The stuff that was left over he took to the action today that him and Edd go to after breakfast.

I made myself a chocolate pancake with syrup and a dollop of whipped cream for breakfast which I thoroughly enjoyed.

A nice sunny morning in the 70's but a good bit of rain in the afternoon followed by more sunshine late afternoon.

I've been needing a new phone and this afternoon I got one.
You would think a new phone would be a good thing but I dreaded getting a new one and having to learn how to use it.
I spent a couple of hours playing around with it this afternoon and happy to say all went pretty well.
Figured things out with a minimum of frustration!

That's about it for today.  In the morning on my walk I'll be trying out the camera on the new phone.

A happy sunny day to you.

GrannyMarigold - That is exactly what we did, had a nice bowl of ice cream last night!

Connie - The cabin we built is on our property about 1/4 mile away from the new  house.  We use it as a guest cabin which gets used by our son David.

Work Day

This picture taken at the end of my driveway this morning.
Cloud hanging in the valley.
53 degrees and sunny this morning when I walked with a few low clouds.
A short 3 mile walk this morning because there was no time to walk to town.
Went up and down the lane and around Happy Trails.
The lane got a couple loads of crush and run on it the other day.
Saw a couple of fawns run across the lane.

Didn't have time for my regular walk because we went to church for a Fingerprint work day and that's where we've been all day.
Worked from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
People come and go all day and at one time there were 26 of us working.
Today 6,902 Spanish Romans books were assembled, cut, and packaged up.

It's been a long day but a good one.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Ivy - Haven't walked up Sale Barn Rd in a while but it is on the way to town and I could.  Been a bit leery to walk there because of a dog that lives up that way.

The Farm Loop

A nice cool morning walk with a temperature of 51 degrees.
A few low hanging clouds around and lots of sunshine.

Instead of walking from home to town,
I drove down to the old house and parked in the driveway.
Then set out on my old route walking around the Farm Loop.
Haven't walked that in a long time, a bit too far to walk it from home.

This is the little pond at Farmer Bill's farm.
Was hoping to see him outside but no luck, all quiet around his place.
Turned around after walking up the hill and took this picture.
The red barn is Farmer Bill's.
Farther around the loop is this red barn.
I passed it up and took the picture after I passed it.
This is the Dairy Farm along the loop.
There were no cows in the pasture just to the left but I could see
cows in the pasture behind the barn.
If you look close you can see a couple of chickens on the right.
Will probably have to click to enlarge the picture.
From the dairy farm my walk continued up the hill to the school,
then down a hill back to town.

Stopped at the post office and dropped some mail down the slot,
then walked a couple of times around the ball park loop
and then back to the car.

Sure was nice walking the Farm loop again.
I'll have to do that more often.
So peaceful and along the whole route not one car passed by.
 🐄     🐑     🐓
Made French toast for breakfast.
We've been having that quite a lot lately.

It was a beautiful sunny day in the high 60's.
Perfect weather for working out back in the woods
and that is just what we did.

A happy day to you.

Most all of you knew or guessed right that the red corvette was my favorite red car.
It was my dream car!!

Corn Feet

🚜     🚜
59 degrees this morning, cloudy, and a bit of a breeze on my walk.
Once again I walked to town, around the cemeteries, ball park loop, and back roads.
Got my 6 miles in while still in town.
Ken was in town so I rode back home with him.

Lisa was out running again and we waved as we passed on opposite sides of the highway.

Walking up to the cemetery on the top of the hill, I walked between two fields of corn.
Did you ever notice what I call 'feet' on the corn?
A close up view of those wrapped rolled hay bales
that from a distance look like giant caterpillars.
🌽     🌽
After lunch we went up to our cabin at Happy Trails which is about 1/4 mile from the house.
There is still a few things that need finishing and we made a list of things we needed to do to complete it.
Since moving into the new house we been busy doing things there and just never got around to the cabin.
We should be able to get everything done in a few days.

Started another book from the library called The Quiet Game by Greg Iles.
It is the first book in the Penn Cage series.
So far so good, got into it on the very first page.

Sat on the front porch and ate small vanilla ice cream cones.

In comments yesterday some of you mentioned wanting a red car or liking red cars.
I thought about all the red cars I've had.
We've had quite a few different color family cars but every car that was mine has been a red and black one.
The first car that I bought was a 1970 red Dodge Challenger.
Since then I've had a red Sentra (don't remember the year),
A red 1994 SC2 Saturn coop,
my red 2002 C5 Corvette,
and now the 2018 Renegade Jeep.
It's a color I never get tired of.
Can you guess my favorite one!?  😃

That's it for today.

A Red Car

A field of Queen Anne's Lace
The temperature was 70 degrees this morning and cloudy when I left on my walk.
There was a bit of a breeze and with no sun it wasn't that hot.

Walked to and straight through town and around the ball park loop, then down the side road to both of the cemeteries, around them and home.

After 3 miles I felt a few sprinkles of rain but they didn't amount to anything.

Walking along about 8 turkey vultures came flying low out of the woods and went circling up into the air.
I was thinking something dead was in the woods and that was when I smelled it.
On the way home the vultures once again came flying out of the woods.
They were too fast for me to get a picture.

Lisa was out running and we stopped for a chat and I saw a woman walking her dog.  Happy to say she had her dog on a leash!!

The corn down the street from my house is now as tall as I am
and has the tassels on top.
🌽     🌽
It was supposed to rain later in the day so we went after breakfast and got the lawn mowed at the house in town.
Finished just in time, about a half hour later it poured and rained on and off for the rest of the day.

We stopped in at Autoland here in town and ended up trading in our Equinox for a nice shiny red Jeep Renegade. 🙂
Got a great deal on it because it is a 2018.
Nice to have a red car again! 🚗
Our new car and the one there on the right is the Equinox.
Visited the library and picked up a book that was on reserve and checked out another too. 📚
Looking forward to starting one of them later.

We went to Brenda's and had pizza for supper.
We usually just get a plain cheese pizza but we celebrated buying the new car and had sausage and onions on it.

Today we got to drive on our newly paved driveway today.  Sure is NICE!

That's about it for today.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Ruta - The buyers can still back out of the deal.  We were presented with a contract offering a price they were willing to pay.  We accepted the deal and both the buyers and us the sellers signed papers.  There still has to be a home inspection and if something is not to their liking they can pull out of the deal.  The sale is not final until we go to 'Closing' where buyers and sellers sign the final papers.

John

The Bible verse we as a church are memorizing this month is a favorite of mine.

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that heareth my word,
and believeth on him that sent me,
hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death unto life.

John 5:24

A Blessed Sunday to you all.

My break is over!

My few days extra blog break turned into a week but now I'm happy to be back. 🙂
Just like when you go away on vacation, its nice to go but good to be back home again.
That's how I feel about my blog break.

I've been taking my usual morning walks and the weather has been on the warm side.
This morning it was 70 degrees at 6:30 when I left with no breeze.
It's been the hottest walk so far this year and I was soaked when I got home.
We've continued to work out back.
Ken on the waterfall and I must say it is coming along beautifully.
I've continued to clear some more and will soon be done with the section I'm working on.

The deer are still coming around every day and getting more comfortable with us around them.
The older fawns spots have disappeared but the twins still have them.

This past Thursday was Baby Blanket Day at church and this is the blanket I made for this month.  The squares that look black are actually dark green.
Had some good news on Wednesday!!
We got a contract on the house for sale in town.
This one looks good and we both feel good about it.  If all goes well, we go to closing in a few weeks.

The other big happening for us this week was that we got our driveway paved yesterday.  They were here bright and early and were done by 11:00.
Here is looking up the driveway.
And this is from the top of the driveway looking down it.
We can't drive on it till Monday.

Posting earlier than usual today because we are going out in just a little while to our friends Linda and Chester's.  They have a shuffle board court and today is the annual shuffle board tournament.  We all bring something to eat and enjoy playing.  Most of us are not that good at it but there is much laughter and always a lot of fun.

Nice to be back to blogging.
I've missed you!
A happy day to you.

Have a great day.
Be back soon.

Bible Time Week

64 degrees and a bit foggy with no wind this morning.

Could only walk 3.5 miles this morning because had to leave the house early for church because this week is Bible Time.

Walked up and down the lane a couple of times and up the driveway to where we built the cabin.

Saw quite a few deer but no people at all.

A couple of pictures walking up the lane.

A busy day at church with Bible Time.
Usually I just bake cookies but this year was a helper too along with Ken.
At church from 8:45 till a little after 1:00.
It was a great time and this first day 100 kids were there!

Taking a block break for the next 4 days.
Be back on Saturday.
Have a happy week.
