2 day break

Another shot of the pond by the Drane house.

🌻     🌻
A mix of sun and clouds this morning when I walked and the
temperature was 52 degrees.

First walked over to the library and dropped a book down the book slot.
Then continued walking through town and down toward HT.
Back to town and around both cemeteries and the ball park loop.
Didn't see anyone else out walking.
Walked 6.2 miles.
🌻     🌻
We went to church this morning and spent an hour or so getting the room
set up for the Fingerprints Ministry which is tomorrow and Friday.
We are having another one of those two day marathons.
People can come between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM and stay for as little or
as long as they can.   We always have a lot of fun with much laughter and
the most interesting of conversations.
Pastor laughingly says he gets lots of ideas for sermons. 😊
Here is a close up of the staplers on the stands which Ken designed and made.
I mentioned it once before but don't think I've posted a picture of them.
The staplers fold down and the the stands come apart and are very easy
to put up and take down.

We then went to Subway and had subs for lunch,
did some errands that needed to get done and then before coming back home
we took a drive past the new house site just to see if they got started
cutting down the trees but NO nothing was started yet.

Our next two days we will be busy working at church all day
and I won't have any time for blogging so I'll be taking a 2 day break.
I'll be back on Saturday.

We taped this chart up on the wall and a rectangle will be colored in
to show the progress.  Each colored in section will be when one box is
filled with 420 Romans books finished and ready to ship out.
Our goal is to do 20,000 in the next two days.
Hopefully we will get a good turn out and God willing reach our goal.
I'll post the chart again on Saturday to show how much we did.

A happy day to you all.

This and That

🌾     🌾
It was a cloudy walk this morning and the temperature was 55 degrees
with a bit of wind.
Took one of my random walks all over the place.
This is behind the ball park loop.  It used to be just a narrow path
and now it is road width.
Met up with Kathy around one of the cemeteries and we walked a mile or
so together.  By they time she left I still had more than 2 miles to walk.

No one else out walking or running.
We did see quite a few rabbits as always
and a skunk got hit by a car and left a pretty strong odor!!!

Walked 6.2 miles
🚶     🚶
Yesterday when we were at the new house site I walked across the road
and met a few new neighbors.  I'll be seeing quite a lot of them in the
near future.

I got a sympathy card in the mail yesterday with a letter and a picture
from Patty, my next door neighbor from when I was a kid.
We have kept in touch all these years.  Her mom died in the beginning
of the year and mine as most of you know died a couple of weeks ago.
Our moms were friends for many years too.  Patty came across some
pictures of our moms together and she sent me this one.
They used to swim laps together.
The picture is from the mid 70's.
My mom is on the left.
Ken went up the Happy Trails again to move yet more rocks before
the excavator comes.

It is my turn to bake cookies for the kids at Sunday school for this
Sunday so I stayed home and baked Chocolate Chip cookies.
I usually bake them in two batches but today I doubled it and got them
all baked at once.  I baked 112 cookies.
I always put the cookies in a big tin for them and I was told the
kids are very happy to see that tin!
And that makes ME smile. 😊

Ken came home for lunch and we had the left over pizza from last
night for lunch.   Then back to HT he went for the rest of the day.

I had planned on going outside to do some work in the gardens but
never made it outside.
I sat down to read for a little while and ended up doing that just
about all afternoon.

A happy day to you.

Barn Collective

Linking up with Tom for the Barn Collective.
This is taken from the overlook a few miles up the road from where we live.
Took the pictures this afternoon and it was a bit hazy.
Same barn zoomed in.
Another view from the overlook and zoomed in here too.
🚜     🚜
Back to school for the kids around here today.
There go a couple of buses.
It was 52 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds this morning when
I went on my walk.

I walked behind my house, through town, down toward Happy Trails,
back through town and then around one of the cemeteries and
the ball park loop.

Saw Kathy just as she finished her walk but did stop and have a little
chat with her.  I still had 2 miles to go before going back home.

Walked 6 miles
Found 4 pennies  😊
🚜     🚜
After breakfast we went up to Happy Trails to do a little work on the
cabin that we have been neglecting.
Ken worked on some inside trim and installed a light.
I worked with the belt sander on a wide piece of slab wood.
Finished it off by hand till the wood was nice and smooth.
It took me all morning which was a lot longer than I thought it would take.
The piece of wood will eventually be the top of a small table.
Then I painted the floor inside the cabin.
The table will go between the two benches there on the right by the window.
Mid afternoon we came back home and got cleaned up and then at 5:00
met Ronnie (builder) and the well driller up at the new house site at HT.
Site for the well located and could be drilled any day now.
The foundation will be dug this week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday.
Exciting to be actually getting started.

When we were done there Ken and I went out to eat at Brenda's.
A happy day to you.

The Romans Road

Happy Sunday

I've finally got the Romans Road memorized.  😊
It is a road I went down years ago long before I took a morning walk.

It is a road that changes lives and you don't even have to take a walk.

 A question
If you were to die today, do you know for sure you would go to heaven
and not hell?
The Bible tells us how we can know for sure.

All of us are sinners

Romans 3:23
For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

There is a price to pay

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death;
BUT the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But there is Good News

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.

Romans 10: 9 and 10
That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ
and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised Him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.

 Romans 10:13
For WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

That's the Romans Road.
I pray that it is one you go down too.

A blessed Sunday to you all.

An ice cream treat

🌻     🌻
50 degrees this morning and sunny for my walk.

No special route, just a walk all over the place.

Took another picture of the newly painted lines in the road.
This in the opposite direction from yesterday heading out of town.
The turn off for Happy Trails is just down the hill on the right.
Noticed a morning glory (I think) winding its way up around the corn stalk.
Walking past the town pond I noticed this black thing smack in the middle.
Zoomed in and it looks like there will be a fountain with colored lights.
No people about on this early Saturday morning and hardly and any cars either.

Walked 6.2 miles
🌻     🌻
I know I've taken pictures of these sun flowers before but I am just amazed
at all the blooms on these two plants.  I've never seen so many before.
We had a little chore to do at church so we went and did that.

Stopped at a used book store in Oakland that is in an old train car.
We donated a few books and I looked around to see if they had any Jan
Karon books of Mitford but they didn't.

Went to Lowe's and got a gallon of paint.  We have been neglecting the
cabin up at HT with thinking of the new house and being down at the
site so we made the decision to get that done.  It really just needs some trim
and some final touches.  One being the floor, which is why we bought the paint.
Took the paint to the cabin and looked around to see just what has to
be done yet.  We plan on having a work day up there on Monday
and see if we can get most of it done.

Before coming home we stopped at Katie's for ice cream.
Ken got a cone but I got a small sundae which didn't seem very small.
I had chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream.
What a treat that was.  😊

It's been another sunny day with temps in the 60's.

A happy day to you.

Outside

Took these sky pictures this afternoon sitting in my swing.

⛅     ⛅
It was a sunny morning and 55 degrees when I walked today.
The sun is longer shining when I leave the house, every morning when I start
it is a little bit darker.

Another random walk for me all over town again.
The main street through town got nice new bright lines painted on it.
No traffic so took the opportunity to take a picture.
Rebeca was walking her dog, a man was running around the ball park loop,
and I saw Kathy's car in the parking lot but again never ran into her.

I was walking along thinking that I haven't found many coins this month.
Looked down and there was a nice new penny.  😊

Walked 6.2 miles
⛅     ⛅
Mowed the lawn this morning just before lunch.
It only takes me 45 minutes.

After lunch I cut down a bunch of the sunflowers that the birds have finished
eating.  There are still lots of sunflowers left and some I planted late
are just starting to flower out in the front garden down by the road.
That garden has taken off like crazy this year.
I really like a garden more wild than neat and orderly and this one fits the bill.
The cone flowers and daisies are fading fast and soon they will be gone.

It has been a delightful day with lots of sun and in the 60's.

A happy day to you.

Thursday

🌻     🌻
It was 50 degrees this morning when I started on my walk.
It was sunny with some low hanging clouds.
A random walk all over the place for me today.
Spotted this deer over in a field.  Had to zoom in a bit to get this picture
of her down there in a bit of fog.
Took a peek in the window at the bakery and the floor tiles are finally finished.
It sure is taking a long time to get all the renovations done before they open.
I'm sure it will be worth the wait once it opens though.  😊

Walked 6.2 miles
🚶     🚶
I know it is a bit early to be picking out flooring for the new house
but we went looking today.
We stopped first right up the road at a place called
The Floor Store, a family run store, and found beautiful hard wood
flooring that we both liked.  They were very helpful as well as nice.

We drove over to Uniontown and went in Lowe's and Home
Depot but didn't find anything that comes close to what we liked at The
Floor Store so we will more than likely be getting it from them.
Sorry no pictures (yet).

Read a little this afternoon and then we went to Little Caesars
and got one of their thick crust pizzas for supper.
Then sat in the truck over at the shopping center and ate it
watching people come and go.

Still have my exercise CD to do and then I'll probably
do some more reading.

A happy day to you.

Wednesday

⛅     ⛅
It was a cloudy morning when I first left the house and I took along
my umbrella because it looked liked rain.
It was 64 degrees.

I walked the Farm Loop.

It never did rain and the sun eventually came out.
Passed by the couple I see once in while when I walk this way.

Once I got back to town I walked past my house and dropped off the umbrella.
Then continued through town, around one of the cemeteries and then home.
Pretty quiet around town today.

Walked 6 miles
⛅     ⛅
I've been home all day doing things around the house.
Shredded up a bunch of zucchini and put it in bags and froze it.
I'll bake bread with it one day in the future, I think I've seen enough
zucchini for a while!!

Walked around the yard looking at the flowers, weeded a bit, picked a
nice red tomato out of the garden, and got the mail.
Sat out on my swing a while and just enjoyed my yard.

A happy day to you.

The morning sky

As I walked around to the front of my house this morning leaving
on my morning walk, this is what I saw.
One reason to take an early morning walk.
The temperature was 62 degrees and once the sun came over the mountain
it was sunny.

Walked the streets behind my house, through town, around both
cemeteries and the ball park and around town again.
Saw Kathy's car in the parking lot but never did run into her.

Some work happening on the firehouse.  Not sure what they are doing there,
but the windows are all boarded up and they are taking the brick chimney
down and looks like a new door or window is being cut out of the brick.

Work also going on down in the stream behind the ball park.
Gravel from the roads finds its way in it by way of the drains and
every year they clean it out.

Didn't see anyone else out walking today.
Walked 6.4 miles
🚶     🚶
Walked over to Sherry's and got my hair trimmed.
I'm still liking my short hair.  So easy to take care of.

We had stuff to do and didn't make it to bowling for the first game,
but did get to bowl 2 games.  Not a great bowling day for me, 128 and 116.
A good day for Ron though, one of his games was a 210.
There were 6 of us today.

I'm off now to do my exercise CD and when I get that over with
I can read some more of my book and maybe even finish it.

A happy day to you.

Monday

🌽     🌽
64 degrees this morning and sunny when I went for my walk.
Walked a town route which starts on the roads behind my house,
through town and down towards HT, around both cemeteries and
up a down some town streets.

Walked around one of the cemeteries a couple times with Kathy.

Saw a lot of rabbits as I always do but saw a couple of deer out by the
cornfields as well.

These pretty black-eyed Susan's are in the garden at the day care center.
Nothing like an early morning walk to start the day.
Walked 6.2 miles
🚶     🚶
Got a couple loads of laundry done and hung out on the line.
Made some more cucumber salad with cucumbers from the garden.
I'm getting a bit tired of eating cucumbers but not Ken so the salad is for him.

Finished up the latest baby blanket the other day.

We sat outside on the swing under the tree during the eclipse.
Not much to see in my neck of the woods.  The sun just dimmed a bit.

Stayed around home all day.
It was a good day. 😊
A happy day to you.

Jesus Paid it All
~ Elvina  M Hall 1865

I hear the Savior say,
Thy strength indeed is small,
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy pow'r and Thine alone,
Can change the leper's spots
And melt the heart of stone.

For nothing good have I
Where-by Thy grace to claim;
I'll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv'ry's Lamb.

And when, before the throne,
I stand in Him complete,
Jesus died my soul to save,
My lips shall still repeat.

Refrain:
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
🎶     🎶
Hebrews 10:12
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever,
sat down on the right hand of God.

Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they be like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Saturday's Critters

Linking up with Eileen for Saturday's Critters.
Here's Rosie, who lives along the farm loop, taking a rest.
A couple of roosters who live at the dairy farm.
🐄     🐓
64 degrees this morning and sunny.

Walked through town and down toward Happy Trails and turned around about
a mile down the road.  Then back to town and just walked all over the place.

Don't usually see many people around town on a Saturday and today it was
again very quiet around town.
Lots of rabbits though!

A quiet and peaceful walk and I am so happy to live in the country. 😊
Walked 6.3 miles
🚶     🚶
When I got back home from my walk Ken was already up at Happy Trails
meeting with Ronnie, our builder and Scott the excavator.
All looks well and looks like ground breaking for the house will start
within the next 2 weeks.  We are pretty excited about getting started!!!
Living just 2 1/2 miles from HT we will be able to watch the progress
day by day.

Did my chores around the house in the morning and by lunch time Ken
had come back home and said come on I'm taking you out for lunch.
We went over to Grantsville to The Cornucopia Cafe.
We sat outside and I snapped a picture from our table.
Walked around the little shops that are scattered about.
Walked to the bridge over the river and snapped this photo from
the middle of the bridge of the other two bridges.
First one one is Rte 40 and the one in the distance is I68.
Took the long way home along the back roads.
A very pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

Some of my sunflowers
🌻     🌻
This morning was one of the warmest days of summer at 70 degrees.
A little bit of sunshine but mostly a cloudy morning and I thought
it might rain but it didn't until I was back home.
A bit of rain would have been welcomed while walking to cool me off.
Walked one of my town routes starting out on the roads behind my house.
Around the ball park loop, both cemeteries, down toward HT and home.

The only one I saw this morning was Lee on his bike and he gave me
two mint candies like he always does. 😊

Pretty quiet around town this morning.
Walked 6.4 miles
🚶     🚶
Had a break in the rain mid morning and I went with Ken up to Happy Trails
and we picked up some more dead fall.

Lunch time it started to rain so we came home.
When it stopped raining I went out front and dead headed a whole bunch
of daisies.  Hoping that will help more flowers to bloom.
More rain sent me inside again.

I've been looking at country kitchens on Pinterest getting ideas for my
new kitchen.  Really like this vintage looking cast iron wall hung sink and would
like to see it in my kitchen.  Both my grandmothers had one just like it.

I am enjoying the first Mitford book.  When Father Tim describes
his first run and around town, it reminds me of my walk.

Chicken House

🍄     🍄
Just a bit of fog around this morning but it soon burned off and it was a
sunny day.  60 degrees when I walked.
Walked the Farm Loop again today.
Passed by the house where those chickens were yesterday and
there in the back yard I spotted a new chicken coop for them.
Picture not so great cause I had to zoom in but what a nice house they have.
Back in town walked a loop around town and one of the cemeteries.

Saw Kathy but she was leaving as I was getting to where she parks her
car so we just waved today.
Didn't see anyone else out walking.

Walked 6.1 miles
🍄     🍄
Went to church right after breakfast with my tote bag of yarn and weave-its
for Blankets for Babies.  There were 8 of us there today.
We meet once a month and I do enjoy the time there.

Was back home in time for a late lunch and then I got out the
bread machine and made a loaf.
While that was going on, I went outside and got the lawn mowed.
After I was done I checked and all the lug nuts were still on the wheels.
After last time having 3 of them missing, I thought it would be a good idea
to check every time I mow.

I had just read a chapter of the second book in the Mitford series so I
put that aside now that I have the first one and will read them in order.

Ken has been up at Happy Trail all day and when he got home we
decided to go out to Brenda's for supper.
No pizza today though.  We both got sandwiches.
Meatball Sub for Ken and a Veggie Sub for me.

Looking forward to getting some more reading in later.

Foggy Walk

🐄     🐄
This morning it was 58 degrees and when I first starting walking it was foggy.
Just turning off the main road to walk the Farm Loop here.
Another foggy picture along the FL.
Look what I had following me for a ways this morning.
Who has chickens following them?!!  😊
Chickens usually run away from me when I walk along.
There were a dozen or so of them wandering around a yard looking quite lost
and when I talked to them these three started following me down the road.
Once back to town I walked around one of the cemeteries.  Kathy came along
and I walked around it with her too.
Then back home and by that time the fog was gone and the sun was shining.

Walked 6.1 miles
🐓     🐓
I've been home today getting some work done.
Nice sunny day so it was a good day to do laundry.

Read some of the Jan Karon book and liked it right away.

Walked over to the library at 4:45 for coloring day.
While there I looked on the shelf for the first book of the Mitford series,
At Home in Mitford and sure enough it was there so checked it out.

Ken picked me up at 6:20 and we headed off to church.

Finally the cosmos that I planted from seeds out front has started to bloom.
It's been another nice summer day and I'm happy to be here.
A happy day to you.
