Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The Last Door

😃 Made myself laugh this morning. 😃
I backed out of the garage and pushed the button to close the door.
I hit the wrong button and the other door started to open.
Then hit the third button and had the third door opening.
I had all three doors going up and down.
Finally I got them all closed and off I went to
town laughing on the way.

This morning there was a mix of sun and clouds,
it was 54 degrees, and no wind at all.
Peaceful and calm.

A fisherman enjoying the early peaceful morning.

Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park, and all over town.

Saw lots of people in town this morning.
Lisa running and her husband Dwayne walking a little later.
Shelia and her daughter were running.
Roger was walking Andy.
Rebecca was walking Leo.
A woman who I haven't seen before was walking
her two BIG dogs, or I should say they were walking her!!
She had no control over them so I stayed on the other side of the street.

All the little horses are back in the pasture down
by the Drane house again.
Never did find out what happened to them.

Today I post the last of the door pictures around town.
Some of you may recognize this one.
It's the Drane house door.

Finished another A - Z Bible lesson that I've been working on for
a while now.  Just finished Y.  Will hand it in tomorrow at church
and pick up the last one!!  That is if we go, the Covid numbers
seem to be going up again so we may watch church on line.

Did a load of laundry because the weather was so nice.
Knitted some more on the hat and hope to finish in the
next day or so.
Nice day to sit out on the porch and read.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you enjoyed your Saturday.

MsBB - I haven't ever had to use it but I have pepper spray and away from town I walk with a nice big walking stick.  There are dog leash laws here too but some people ignore it.  I think some let their dogs out on their own because it is so rural and hardly anyone ever walks past their property.

Snappy Dressers

62 degrees this morning when walking.
It rained during the night but had stopped by walking time.
Looked and felt like rain but was just cloudy.

Walked the cemeteries, the ball park, and all around town.

Looks like the kids at the day care center were doing some tie-dying.
Purple seems to be a popular color.
Their clothes line needs to be a bit higher!!

Very quiet around town, almost like a Sunday morning at first.
Things picked up a bit during the second part of my walk.
Saw a couple of dog walkers
and Jim and Lena were walking their dog Molly around the ball park.
Molly is my favorite dog that I come across.  She is a yellow lab
and very friendly.  Why is it the friendly dogs I encountered are always
on a leash and the mean ones roaming about on their own.

Here's today door.
Only a couple more left from around town.

David and Liz came over last evening for game night.
We played a new card game for us called
Snappy Dressers.
Any one play it before?

There's a deck of 51 cards and every card matches in one way or another
with every other card in the deck.
There are 10 different games you can play including a solitaire game.
We played two different games.
It was a lot of fun.

Finished up the last of the house cleaning for this week
and then worked on a hat I'm knitting for Ken.

I borrowed a book from the library on my Kindle.
Sometimes it is very easy and things go as they are supposed to like today
but other times it just doesn't work.
For me its a hit or miss thing.

We made homemade pizza for supper which is always a treat.

That's it for today.
Hope you made your day a good one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Blanket Day

This morning it was cloudy and 61 degrees when I went walking.

Walked around town for a while and then headed over to the
industrial park and did a tour around there.

A field of wildflowers in the industrial park.

Once back in town I walked around the ball park.
There I saw Joy, Rebecca, and a man walking a dog.

This week there has been some road work going on in town
and part of the road has only one way traffic, so
people have to wait a bit to get through.
Not a big deal because there aren't that many cars.
Anyway I'm getting to know one of the people who hold up
the stop sign. Each day she is a little farther down the road.

Today was Babies for Blanket day at church so left after
breakfast for a morning of making blankets.
Breakfast is served there but since I ate at home, didn't eat anything.

I had volunteered to do the devotional this month and
picked the subject of friends to talk about.
With God's help I think it turned out okay. 🙂

There were 12 of us there today and as always it was
an enjoyable time.
Such a blessing to have this group of women as my friends!
(Hope you decided to stop by Jane - Hi. 🙂 ❤️)

Just puttered about the house this afternoon.
Didn't feel like doing any cleaning!!!
But I did feel like reading and knitting.

Had some rain this afternoon and heard a few claps of thunder.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you. 😃

Moth

Just a little fog around again this morning which didn't last long
and soon the sun was shining.
Temperature was 59 degrees.
Sunrise - 6:13

A nice walk around town, the ball park, and both cemeteries.

I overlooked this picture from yesterdays walk around the farm loop
so posted it today.
Soy Beans

The pond in town used to have the fountain turned on all the time.
Noticed lately that it gets turned on now at 7:00.
Here's a peek at it from another street.

Joy was out walking again and one other woman.

Still have a few more door pictures from around town.
Here's todays.

Got chili started in the slow cooker first thing after breakfast
and a load of wash hung out on the line.

We drove over to Grantsville to do a couple errands.
When we got back I baked some Chocolate Chippers.

Ken and I went out in the ATV for a ride around Happy Trails.
Now that it is summer everything is so overgrown.
I like summer but like the woods better in the other seasons.

One of our neighbor cows - he stayed in his own pasture today.
He's one of the ones that come to visit us once in a while.

Ken took a picture of this unusual looking moth.
It is a Clymene Moth.

That's all for today.

Walked the Farm Loop

59 degrees this morning when I left walking.
A little fog around at first but that was soon gone and it was sunny.
Just a bit of a breeze to keep things cool.

Walked straight through town and around the Farm Loop.

The donkeys were out and I stopped to say hello.

A little horse was out in this field but wouldn't even look up at me.

Queen Anne's Lace down by a little stream.

The corn is taller here on the FL than over by the cemeteries.
It is taller than I am.  (5'5")

Didn't see any one while walking the FL but when I got back to town
and walked around the ball park I saw Joy.

The other person I saw was a riding a bike - don't see many
bike riders around.

Walked 6 miles

Todays door is two barn doors - the barn is along the Farm Loop.

Food shopping day at the Shop and Save.
Since we go every week we don't need to buy so much at one time.
Makes a quick in and out.

Home the rest of the day just getting chores done around the house.
Walked around outside some too.
Hasn't rained for a couple of days so watered the flowers
and my tiny garden which still only has 1 eggplant and 1 pepper.

That's all I have for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you. 😀

A few asked about fried bread - French toast.

Rose - No, I never lived near my mother once I got married.  The nearest was when she lived in Altoona, Pa and we were in Ellicott City, Md - it was 2 1/2 - 3 hours away.

GrannyM - Don't really have a cleaning schedule.  I used to have one basic cleaning day a week and did everything.  Now I start on Monday and work till I get tired of it.  I do that each day until Friday arrives and everything is done.

A little foggy when I first started walking but then just cloudy.
It was 64 degrees with just a little breeze.
Sunrise 6:12

The usual walk around town, cemeteries and ball park.

Yesterday the little horses were out of the pasture and 6 bulls
were there instead.  This morning nothing in the pasture.
Didn't see Farmer Marvin to ask about the horses.

Roger was walking around the ball park.
He told me he walks his dog Andy before going off to work.
That's why I haven't seen him for a while, I've been getting
to the ball park a bit later than usual.

Lisa was out running and saw another man walking a dog.

Met someone who lives on the main road in town.
Him and his wife bought the house a few months ago and have
been really working hard making it look nice.
He was out front and I told him how nice things were looking.
He has a name that is easy to remember - Kermit.

Another Door around town
A basement door - you might have to duck - siding down over the door.

Walking I got a hankering for fried bread so made that for breakfast.

Started my house cleaning for the week.
When I got tired doing that
I read and knitted.
Sat out on the front porch.
Cloudy all day till very late afternoon and then the sun came out.

Thought of my mom a lot today because it is her birthday.
She would have been 91.
She was on this earth for 87 years.

Sunday

Happy Sunday

God says Good Morning with beautiful sunrises.
A couple from this past week.

 Romans 1:20-21 KJV
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made,
even his eternal power and Godhead:
so that they are without excuse.

Because that, when they knew God,
they glorified him not as God,
neither were thankful:
but became vain in their imaginations,
and their foolish heart was darkened.

James 2:19 KJV
Thou believest that there is one God;
thou doest well:
the devils also believe, and tremble.

A Blessed Sunday to all.

A Puzzle

It was calm this morning and mostly sunny when I walked.  Temperature was 59 degrees.

What a difference from yesterday when quite a few people were out walking around - today didn't see anyone walking or running.

So many rabbits about that I lost count of them.  They were all over the place.

Had my normal walk all over town, the ball park, and both cemeteries.

Some geese were out for their morning walk but they all went running
back to the pond when I came up behind them.

Farmer Marvin stopped to say hi just before I came across the geese.

The 4 little horses were running around and around the pasture.
They weren't just running but galloping fast!
At one point I thought they were all going to jump the fence.
I never saw them act like that before.  Looked like something scared them.
I mentioned it to Farmer Marvin and he was going to check on them.

Another Town Door
Included the window because it looked like it belonged with the door.

Yesterday David and Liz dropped off a puzzle for us.
They work for Taylor Made at the lake getting houses ready
for the tourists.
There were a whole bunch of extra puzzles they give away so we got one.
It was an easy one and we knocked it off in a few hours.
Odd number of puzzle pieces - 432!!

🧩    🧩    🧩

Got a pot roast started in the slow cooker right after breakfast.

Then we went to the dump to drop off the weekly garbage plus
those two televisions that died the other day.

On the way home we stopped at the Dollar General
to use our weekly coupon.

This afternoon was a time for knitting, reading,
walking around outside a bit and sitting on the porch.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hoping your day was a happy one. 😃

Kim - Glad you made the chocolate cake and liked it.  If you like chocolate icing, the icing on the box is excellent too.  If Ken didn't put whipped cream on the cake it would have had the chocolate icing!!  Great for chocolate lovers!!

Jeanette - I am so surprised at the difference the Bombas socks make!!  Yes, they are pricy but I will only wear them when walking so they should last a while. I'm planning on buying some more on line.  I got the low ones and would like the crew size for winter.

Cousin Cathy - Happy that you left a comment! 🙂❤️ I have a couple of other things from Gramma too.  Remember the old yellow dog planter that was always on the floor between the dining room and living room.  That is sitting on my floor now. The one big thing I have is the desk!!  My step father took the old dark stain off quite a few years ago and now it is in the natural oak wood. It's beautiful and now sits in my living room.

SusanQ - I'll post the hat pattern on my other blog once I finish the hat.

Dish Towels

A nice cool walk this morning at 52 degrees, sunny and calm.
It brought a good many people out early this morning.
Lisa and Sheila were the runners.
Walkers were, Joy, Wayne, the woman who is now friendly,
(will have to find out her name), the woman who walks her dog,
 and of course me.

This road is behind our house when we lived in town.

Walked all over town, the ball park, and cemeteries.
I've said before I walk the same places but the order gets
scrambled up for a random walk.

The giant caterpillars are coming to town!!!
These rolled and covered hay bales always remind me of giant caterpillars.

Saw a couple of rabbits, ground hogs, and chipmunks but no deer.

Those new socks I bought for walking yesterday are surprisingly terrific.
I wouldn't think that a pair of socks could make such a difference.
Walking in these socks make my already comfortable shoes even better.
The are Bombas Socks.  According to package my size should have been
medium but got a large because that was all they had.  The large size
is perfect for me.
The are pricy at $12 a pair but worth every penny.
They say that the most asked for article of clothing in homeless
shelters are socks.  With that in mind
each pair of Bombas socks purchased, a pair is donated to a homeless shelter.

🌤    🚶‍♀️    🌺

Finished up the rest of my house cleaning this morning and
then made some English Muffin Loaves as requested by Ken.

He made us nachos for lunch.  😀

A little chipmunk plays peek a boo with me at the edge of
our driveway.  Can you spot him?

I have three old dish towels that were my Gramma Green's.
They have been sitting in the drawer because I didn't want to use
them and wear them out.
I thought that is just plain silly so I have been using them.
That is what Gramma would have wanted and now when I dry
the dishes using them I think of her. 😀

Even though David liked the hat I'm still not happy with it.
Started knitting it again and this time went down another
size in needles and using different yarn.
Ken picked out the yarn so I'm making this hat for him.
Hopefully all goes well.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hope your Friday was a happy one. 🙂

Thursday

53 degrees this morning when I walked, calm and foggy in areas.
Fog gone and sunny by the time I finished walking.

The usual walk around town, the cemeteries and the ball park.

Didn't see anyone out walking today.

I took a better picture of the spider webs in the grass.
This one you can see the little hole where the spider hides.
(middle upper half)

When I went down to say good morning to the bulls this tiny little
horse was in the pasture next to them.
She came over to the fence and sniffed my hand.

Some of you have mentioned the doors I've been taking pictures of
around town.  Didn't realize how many neat old doors there were around
till I started taking pictures of them.
So I've started a collection of town door pictures.

Here's today's door

Walked 6 miles

🌤    🚶‍♀️    🌤

Made pancakes for breakfast, hung a load of laundry out on the line,
and then we drove to Unionton, Pa and went in a few different stores.

Had to take a detour off route 40 on the way because of a land slide
that happened last month.
It was a 9 mile detour but it was on a nice country road so we didn't mind.

Went to Dick's where I picked up some socks for walking.
Will let you know how I like them after walking tomorrow.

Looked around Hobby Lobby - got some yarn.
We also stopped in at Harbor Freight and Lowes.

Lunch time we picked up some spicy chicken sandwiches at Wendy's.

All the stores we went into there were hardly anyone people
so no problem keeping our distance from people.

I finished the hat I was knitting.
David came by and I gave it to him.
I thought it was a bit too big but he loved it.
Forgot to take a picture.
I'm going to make another one for Ken but use smaller needles.
Will probably start on it later this evening.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A smile from me to you. 😀

GrannyM - Farmer Marvin breeds and raises the bulls for farms and then sells them. The ones that are where I see them are waiting to be sold or picked up.  The three who are there now are too young yet and will be sold later in the year.  Marvin also raises beef cattle which he sells for their meat.  If you would like to read about the farm and see pictures they have a website HERE.

Thunder Storm

Woke up to some claps of thunder but no rain.
Checked the radar before I left for town and the storm looked like
it would stay south of us so I went to town.
Driving there the storm hit and the rain came down in torrents.
Luckily town is just 2 miles away.
Once I got there I waited for about 10 minutes in the car for the
storm to pass and then I started my walk.

It was 60 degrees and just cloudy when I did walk and even saw
a little bit of the sun for a little while.

The corn is so tall now that I can't see the barn anymore.

Walked around town, the cemeteries and the ball park.

Went down to see the bulls.
Only three of them there today.

Lisa was out walking.  Nice to see her again - it's been awhile.
Someone else out walking a dog.

Since we didn't go to Shop and Save yesterday because of dealing
with the TV, we went there today.  Just needed a few things so
we were in and out quickly.

I'm behind on the house cleaning this week so the rest of the
morning I did that.

Did some knitting this afternoon.
I've tried a few different hat patterns but wasn't happy with them.
The pattern I'm using now just might be THE ONE.
It is easy and appears to be a good size for an adult.
Should be able to finish it this evening.

That's all I have for today.

Thanks to all who said the H-E was Hits and Errors.  Seems obvious now that you all said it.

Many of you said you hardly watch TV anymore.  We don't either.  We mostly watch DVD's and Ken has a few games he likes to play and uses the television for that too.  Sometimes we will watch some things on YouTube.

William - I did a bit of research about the 'webs' on the grass yesterday. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.  I think they are spider webs though because I can see the hiding spot of the spider.  It could also be something called 'dollar spot' which is a lawn fungus.  Here's the link that tells of both. What do you think?

The TV Saga

It was another one of those foggy mornings when I walked.
59 degrees and calm.  Fog burned off by the time I was finished walking.
This road runs parallel and between the main road and the industrial park.

This in the industrial park.

Also walked around town and a few times around the ball park loop.
The new score board is finally up the ball park but I was wondering what
the H-E is at the bottom right.
Does any one know?

Saw a lot of these spider webs on the grass.

None of the regulars out walking this morning but did see Wyane who
I see walking once in a great while.

Saw a couple of deer and some rabbits.
One rabbit was just a tiny little thing, I could have held it in my hand.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🚶‍♀️    🌤    💰

We didn't do so well with televisions last evening.
Tried to watch a DVD and the television would not go on.
Then it turned itself on and off few times and then just nothing.
Nothing that Ken did worked and it just died.
Next we had an old TV down in the basement and we
brought that up.
That worked for a few minutes and that too died.
Last try was an old computer with a DVD slot in it.
Again that worked for a bit and that computer is dead too.
After 3 things dying we figure we weren't meant to
watch any DVD's.

This morning we went out to Walmart and got a new television.
It was a TCL.  Took it home and got it all set up but we didn't like
it all.  It was much too dark even on the brightest setting.
So the TV got packed up and off to Walmart we went again.
We returned that one and picked out another brand.
Back home to set this new one up.
It is a Samsung and we now have a TV again.

🖥    🖥    🖥

Didn't get much done around the house today.
The only thing I did was get the sheets washed.

Thanks for stopping by.
