Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

No more bread machine

45 degrees this morning, cloudy, and windy when I left the house.
Started my walk going around the lower cemetery.
Then over to the ball park and made a loop around there.
Roger was there walking Andy.
A picture of them after we passed and said good morning.

From there I made my way over to the industrial park and had a
walk around there.
The sky looked a bit ominous but it just stayed cloudy.

Walking back in town a woman had a little dog on a leash and
asked me if I knew whose dog it was. It was roaming around and
she was trying to find its owner.
Told her I didn't know but would ask if I ran into anyone.
Never did.

Walked another loop around the ball park and then went up to the
other cemetery and down to see the bulls.

A shot of the Drane house and garden.

From there, back to the Jeep and home.

Walked 6.4 miles

☁️    🚶‍♀️    💨    🙂

Late morning the sun came out for a little while but it stayed very windy.
Rain came in the afternoon with a bit of sunshine again after supper.

Got the last of my housework done mid morning and had the
rest of the day to putter about.

Was going to make pizza for supper but my bread machine finally
died after about 14 years.
I think I got my moneys worth, it was used a lot.
Didn't feel like making the dough by hand so we popped in
a Digiorno's frozen pizza.
The bread machine was an Oster and really liked it so
ordered a new one and it should be arriving next Wednesday.

I had another bread machine sitting in the pantry.
It was my mother's and when she died three years ago I took
hers to use when mine didn't work any more.
I must have never opened the lid to look inside because when I
got it out to use today, there was no sign of the pan!!
Had a good laugh over that and knew she would be laughing too. 😃

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you enjoyed your Friday.

Anni - Walking to see #55 isn't going to happen.  There are a couple of farms on Bubble Bee Rd and I've never seen the cattle near the road.  Besides from where I walk it would be a least 4 miles and back again would make it more than 8. That would take too much time in the morning. The road isn't so great to walk on either - windy and not a very wide road.  Is a nice thought though!

#55 moved away

Rained during the night and though it wasn't raining when I drove
to town I wore my rain slicker and pants because it sure looked like rain.
It was 57 degrees.
Walked around the cemeteries and here you can tell the rain
will be coming soon.

Walked around the second cemetery and then down to see the bulls.
#55 isn't there anymore, but #11 seems eager to take his place.
He came up for a break from eating and gave my hand a sniff.
Then I took his picture.

I was just leaving and Farmer Mavin's son, Farmer Austin was
just getting there in his truck and we talked a bit.
Asked about #55.
He told me that 55 went to live on a farm on Bumble Bee Rd.
(about 4 miles south of here)
Also asked him about the white cow.
They have a few of them and they are Charolais cattle.

The first 3 miles or so there was no rain but sure was glad to have
my rain gear on for the second half of my walk when it did rain.

Also walked around the ball park a couple of times and then a loop
around town before going back to the parking lot.
There were some police there again for training and these were the
canine units.  There were a few police standing in the parking lot
and I walked over to them and thanked them for all they do and
told them I pray for them. Well, you should have seen their faces
light up and they thanked ME!!
It really meant a lot to them - just a few little words.

So on that note I got in the Jeep and went home.

Walked 6 miles

🚶‍♀️   🌧   🐂    👮‍♀️

It rained on and off all day and the wind really kicked up again.
I'm sure I'll have some more deadfall to put on my fences.

Got all housework done for the day in the morning and then
this afternoon I read and knitted.

This evening we made French fries in the Air Fryer but this
time used real potatoes instead of the frozen ones.
They turned out great and I don't think we will be
buying frozen ones ever again.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

A walk to town

This morning I walked to town instead of driving.
Left the house at 6:25.
It was a cloudy morning but the temperature was already a warm 61 degrees.

This is the road I live on and I'm headed toward the main road.
Saw a ground hog scurry across the road from left to right
and into his home which is on the hill.

A left turn at the main road takes me to town.
Town is 2 miles from home.

I walked around one of the cemeteries and the ball park.
Then went down the main street in town.

Only walk 2 miles in town so I'm not there very long.
Didn't see anyone else out walking.

The last two miles is walking from town to back home.
There was some kind of road work being done past where I could see
beyond my road to turn back home.
There were cones in the road and only one way traffic.
So walking back down the main road I had the shoulder and left side of the
road all to myself with no cars.
You can kind of see a row of cars coming up the hill and where
I turn off to go home.

Off the main road here now and headed back home.
Didn't take a picture of it but I just passed a squirrel that was dead
in the middle of the road.
I'm not surprised a car it him because I've seen him
just sitting in the middle of the road a few times and almost
hit him myself.
He was a pretty big one, gray and a rusty color underneath.

There is a whole row of forsythia along the road and I stopped
and broke off 4 little branches and brought them home.
Took a one handed picture of the forsythia here as I walk up the last
bit of road to home.

Walked 6 miles

When I got home I put the cut forsythia in some water.
Hoping to root them and then plant them out front.

☁️    🚶‍♀️    🌼

The morning was spent getting some housework done.

Ms BB, this picture of my kitchen is for you.
Doesn't it remind you of the picture you posted yesterday?

In the afternoon I read and knitted.
Tried sitting on the front porch but it was so windy I came back inside
after a few minutes.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

More cows and out and about

 This mornings sunrise

Great weather for walking this morning.
51 degrees and sunny with just a slight breeze.
By the time I got back to the Jeep it was already 61 degrees.

Another walk around town, the ball park, and cemeteries.

When walking around the ball park I stopped for a chat with a man who
works for the town. (forgot his name - but he took over from Joe)
He was emptying the trash cans.
Anyway he told me about the score board.
The high school is getting a new one and giving the ball park their old one.

Took some more pictures of the cows up behind the cemetery.

Got a kick out of the only white cow peeking around the others.

The white cow - though a dirty one - on her own

Watched a couple calves chase some geese out of the pasture.
Fun to watch the little ones.
Don't use the word frolic very often but that is the perfect word
for what those calves do.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🚶‍♀️    🙂

It stayed sunny all day but the wind picked up and boy did
the clothes hanging out on the line get twisted up over the line!!

We went to the Shop and Save in the morning for grocery shopping.
Stopped in at the library and Ken picked up a book and
another DVD (last season of Cheers).

After lunch we went out again.
This time to Lowe's and G & W (lumber yard in town).
Also went for a ride around part of Deep Creek Lake.

Don't remember the last time we spent so much time away
from home!

It was still so nice outside after supper.
Sunny and no wind and it must have been 70 degrees.
So we got our walking sticks and went walking around Happy Trails
for a while enjoying the beautiful evening.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

Aritha - No, have never done a puzzle outside.  No where to do it and we usually do 1000 piece ones and no way would the weather stay good enough to complete a puzzle!!!

GrannyM and Bill - About the mosaic on yesterdays post.  I have a Samsung phone and the camera makes the mosaics.  There is no additional APP that you have to use.  I just chose the option that says make a mosaic, then tap the pictures I want and bingo there it is.  I can move the pictures around by just touching them. It also gives you some layout options.  It is super easy to use!!!

It's spring again

29 degrees this morning when I started out walking but the sun
came up and there was no wind.
The sun warmed it up it was almost 40 when I left for home again.

On the way to town I spotted 3 deer and 2 rabbits.

Walked all over town, around the cemeteries, and ball park.
Looks like those posts are for a new score board to be put up.

A couple fishermen out this morning around the pond.

A collage of pictures from my walk.

Just as I was in the Jeep leaving the parking lot a stream of
police cars pulled in.  They have some kind of police training here
every year and I'm pretty sure that is what it's about.

Walked 6.3 miles
Found a penny

☀️    😀    🚶‍♀️    💰

We finished the puzzle (1000 pieces) yesterday.
This was the seek and find one.

There are 10 items added to the puzzle that aren't pictured on the box.
Was very easy to find the missing items but added a bit of fun to it.
Didn't post the before picture because there is no way you can
see all the missing items in the puzzle - picture just wasn't clear enough.

Had a few bananas too brown to eat so baked

Morning was spent doing work inside.
By afternoon it was in the low 60's and warm enough for me
to sit out on the front porch and do some knitting.

We have two chairs attached together by a little table in the middle
out back in the woods. We never seem to sit in them
so Ken moved it onto the deck out back where
they will get some more use.

It's been such a pretty day.
Nice to have spring back again.

Thanks for stopping by.

Through the Wilderness

I had another chorus stuck in my head this week.

This one was written by Sidney Cox

🎵 My Lord knows the way through the wilderness,
All I have to do is follow.
My Lord knows the way through the wilderness,
All I have to do is follow.
Strength for today is mine all the way,
And all I need for tomorrow.
My Lord knows the way through the wilderness
All I have to do is follow.  🎵

An afternoon of Uno

34 degrees this morning, sunny, and with a slight breeze
when I went walking.

 A very quiet morning.
Only saw one person and he was the fisherman from yesterday
back again.
Very few cars too, though I did see Farmer Marvin drive by in his truck
a couple of times.

Dropped a DVD (Wings) off at the library down the slot.
Walked around town, down the main road and along some
of the sides streets as well.
One of my favorite streets is this one past the day care center.

Went around both cemeteries.
The lawn was cut at one of the cemeteries in a grid.
Looks like grave plots were marked off.

Continued walking past our old house in town and up the hill behind the house.
The big house up there on the right is Lisa's house.

Then walked back through town to the pond where my walk ended for today.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🙂     🚶‍♀️

Time to make another trip to the dump and on the way back
went to the Dollar General.

David and Liz came over lunch time.
We ate sandwiches for lunch and then instead of having game night
we had game afternoon.
Had a fun time playing a bunch of games of Uno.
That took care of the afternoon.

Didn't get a thing done today but had a wonderful day with the kids.
I call them kids but they are 48 years old! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope your Saturday was a good one.

Another day another walk

Started walking with a temperature of 31 but by the time I left
for home it was up to 38 degrees.
A sunny morning for walking with a slight breeze.

A nice sunny walk around the cemeteries, the ball park and town.
Though I walk in mostly the same places I go in a different order
so it never gets boring for me.
Always enjoy seeing the bulls and cows.
I've met many people around town and wave to lots more.
Nice to see what's happening in town from day to day.
Each day is always just a little bit different.
And the scenery is beautiful.

A couple of pictures from my walk today.
A fisherman enjoying early morning at the pond

Walking up to the cemetery.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🚶‍♀️    🙂    🌸

Did the usual morning chores.

When I first got my Kindle last year I got Kindle Unlimited free
for three months.  Kept it going for a few months and then quit.
Today I joined again.  I get 2 free months again and then have to pay
$9.99 a month.  Even though you can get some free books on different
sites and get books from the library I seem to have trouble and it is
much easier and faster to use Kindle Unlimited.
Sometimes I can get books without trouble from the library
but most times it just doesn't work! AND then you have to wait for
the books.  With unlimited you get the books instantly with no trouble!
For me, I'd rather pay the money!

In the afternoon I went walking around Happy Trails.
Added a bit more deadfall to another fence I started along
the back property line.

For supper we had the pizza we made last week when we
made two and froze one.

Thanks for visiting and do come again.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Bulls and Cows

Cold temperatures stayed around and this morning it was
25 degrees when I went walking.  It was cloudy and WINDY
and a few lingering snow flurries flying about.
Dressed in all my winter layers of clothing and stayed warm.

Walked around the cemeteries, ball park and town.
Made a stop at the post office to mail another Bible lesson that I finished.

This short path is behind the ball park and there is a small stream
that runs along side it.

Farmer Marvin spread a bunch of hay around for the bulls.
Must be a lot better lying in hay than mud!
My #55 preferred to have breakfast instead.

Not to leave the cows out by the cemetery
here's a couple pictures of them too.

Some people must really like to fish because there were 3 fishermen
fishing at the town pond.
At least I kept warm by walking but they had to just stand there!

Thought the phlox in the cemetery with a bit of snow on it looked pretty.

Walked 6 miles

☁️    🙂    🚶‍♀️    🌸

I think about what I want for breakfast when I'm out walking
and today chocolate chip pancakes sounded like just the thing.
So that's what I made for us.

Since I didn't do any work yesterday I got busy and finished
up my housework for this week.
I have some chores that need to be done every day.
Also have housework that gets done weekly.
I have a list and cross the chores off as I do them day by day
and by the end of the week and it is all done.

Though I've only used my new Air Fryer once I'm already glad I bought it.
Just made frozen French fries in it but they came out nice and
crispy in 15 minutes and was so easy.
Just put the fries in and turn it on.
Also super easy to clean.
Have to buy some potatoes and make our own French fries.

Started making more weave-it squares for May's baby blanket.
Read and knitted a little too.

Thanks for stopping by.

It's snowing again

When I drove to town for my walk it was 37 degrees and cloudy.
Walking around town I spotted a red glove along the sidewalk.
So walked down the main road to where the posts are and
on the next post in line added the red glove.
And then there were 3.

Across the street was this pretty blooming azalea.

Walked back through town to the industrial park and walked around there.

This is the same house I took a picture of a few weeks ago that
looked like the start of a deck being built.
Nothing had been going on for a while but today I noticed the
decking floor has been added. With those tall posts maybe it is going to
have a roof on it.

Walked some more around town and on the streets behind our old
house in town and that is when I saw the first snowflakes!!
Snowflakes were better than rain though because I didn't get wet.

As the snow came down harder it turned windy too.

And this is what the snow was like by the time I got in the car
and was leaving the parking lot for home.
Temperature was also down to 31 degrees.

Wasn't paying much attention to how far I was walking
and ended up walking 6.7 miles.

☁️    🙂     🌨

It snowed on and off all day but just left a dusting in the woods.

A good day to do some work on the puzzle and read.
Didn't do much of anything else.

Last week I bought an air fryer on line and it arrived today.
I've been wanting to buy one for a while now after reading
how much a blogger friend Lisa and others like theirs.
It comes with a cookbook with some good sounding recipes that
I'm looking forward to trying.

Hope spring returns soon!!

A tiny nest

A beautiful morning for walking starting with the sunrise.

It was 45 degrees, sunny, with a slight breeze.
For me, it is the ideal walking weather!!!

Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park and town.
Rebecca was out walking Leo and I saw two other women
walking who I don't know.  They were just starting out as I was leaving.

Went down to see the bulls as usual and all were happily eating.
The field behind the cemetery at the top of the hill some years
has corn or soy beans growing in it.
Today though Farmer Marvin put cattle there.
They were spread out all over and there were lots of little ones around.

These few stayed close to the fence under the tree.

Stayed there for a little while just watching them.

Look at this tiny little nest I found on the ground in the cemetery.
It was perfectly made.

I picked it up and put it in a tree.

It was great to be out walking and I
walked 6.4 miles.

☀️    🌸    🙂

Today I put chicken in the slow cooker and poured some
Zesty Italian Dressing over it and then let it cook all day.
Delicious and sure is easy.

Tuesday, so off we went to the Shop and Save.

Did a little bit of housework and then went outside for a while
and walked around Happy Trails.
Also picked up some deadfall and added it to the fence.
It stayed in the 50's and was sunny all day.

Also spent a little time knitting and reading.

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

A sunny day

A nice sunny walk this morning, 38 degrees and no wind.

A quiet morning in town.
Walked around both cemeteries, the ball park, and town.
The bulls were all doing fine. Farmer Marvin put more
bulls in with the few that were left because there's a lot of them there again.
Happy to say that #55 is still there.

Thought the Drane house looked nice with the sun shining on it
and with the trees starting to get leaves.

Walked 6.2 miles

🌤    🙂    🌼

Ate breakfast, got the sheets washed and hung outside on the line
and then we left to get some errands done.
Went to the bank.
Truck had a tire with a slow leak so we stopped and got the fixed.
A stop at Lowes.
Dropped off baby blankets that I had made at the church.

After lunch it was still sunny and in the 50's so I went outside.
Weeded and churned up the little asparagus garden we have out back.
Then cleaned up the daisy and the cone flower gardens - weeded
and got rid of the dead flowers and leaves from last year.
Both daisies and cone flowers have little shoots starting.

Got a few things done inside before supper
and now it's time to enjoy the evening.
No ice cream for my snack later - having chocolate chip cookies instead.

That's it for today.
Hope your day was a good one.
