Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Tuesday

🎃     🎃     🎃
This morning the temperature was 36 degrees and sun rise was at 7:45.
I left the house at 7:20.  A bit breezy and all the snow from yesterday was gone.
Nice to be out walking in the sunshine.
Once the time change happens I'll be back to walking earlier again.

Walked all around town and just a little ways up Barn Sale.
Met up with Cathy and walked around the cemeteries with her.

They took the fountain out of the town pond for the winter.
After Cathy left I walked around town again and a couple of times
around the ball park loop.
Walked 6.4 miles
Found a penny

🎃     🎃     🎃
I wanted to go to the corn maze today but then found out it is only
open on the weekends so will have to wait until Saturday to go.

Got the sheets washed and hung out on the line.
You just can't bottle that smell.
And got a few other house chores done.

Ken went up to the HT to the house site but I decided to stay home.

We went over to Morgantown, WV to have dinner at Outback.
An early celebration dinner for Ken's birthday which is in a few days.
We both had steak, potatoes, and a salad.
It was delicious.
While we we up there we looked around in Lowe's after we ate picking out
bathroom vanities and sinks, lights, and ceiling fans for the new house.

 That's it for today.

A little snow

⛄     ⛄     ⛄
We got a little snow last night.
I waited till it was light out before heading out on my walk.
When I left it was 33 degrees and windy.
A mix of sun and clouds.

First went to the library and dropped off a book in the book drop.
Then walked straight through town and around one of the cemeteries.
Up Barn Sale and took a couple of pictures.
Back to town and around the other cemetery a couple of times.
No one else out walking.
I got to wear my snow sneakers for the first time this year.
Ended up taking my hat and my coat off because I got too warm.
(I had 4 layers on underneath my coat though!!)

I  enjoyed my first snowy walk of the season.
Walked 6 miles
⛄     ⛄     ⛄
Ate breakfast and did my morning chores around the house before I walked.

During the afternoon I did some reading and made some
weave-it squares.

No work getting done on the house today but we did go by in the afternoon
and Ken took this picture from the driveway.
The three car garage makes the house look big.
Seemed like a good day to go to Brenda's for half price pizza.

I'll be back to reading my book in a little while.
Reading The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne and liking it!

Of course there will be some ice cream later this evening tool

Seek ye first....

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God
~ Helen Steiner Rice

Life is a mixture
of sunshine and rain,
Good things and bad things,
pleasure and pain.
We can't have all sunshine,
but it's certainly true
There is never a cloud
the sun doesn't shine through.....
So always remember
that whatever betide you
The power of God
is always beside you,
And if friends disappoint you
and plans go astray
And nothing works out
in just the right way
And you feel you have failed
in achieving your goal,
And that life wrongly placed you
in an unfitting role,
Take heart and stand tall
and think who you are,
For God is your Father
and no one can bar
Or keep you from reaching
you desired success,
Or withhold the joy
that is yours to possess...
For with God on your side
it matters not who
Is working to keep
life's good things from you,
For you need nothing more
than God's guidance and love
To insure you the things
that you're most worthy of...
So trust in His wisdom
and follow His ways,
And be not concerned
with the world's empty praise,
But seek first His Kingdom
and you will possess
The world's greatest riches
which is true happiness.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added to you.

A Blessed Sunday to you.
Jesus Loves You.

Saturday's Critters

I've tried and tried to down load pictures but blogger just won't let me.
I'll keep trying and hopefully the pictures will be added soon.
Finally got them to load!  😊

Linking up with Eileen today for Saturday's Critters.

45 degrees this morning and sunrise was at 7:42.
Not much walking time in the light with the sun coming up so late
but when it did there was a mix of sun and clouds.
Not such a pretty sunrise picture but I thought it an interesting one.
This picture taken about 10 minutes later.
A nice walk around town on this quiet Saturday morning.
One man out walking his big white dog.
The only other activity in town was at the bakery.
It is one of the mornings that they bake the donuts.

Walked 6 miles
🚶     🚶     🚶
Baked another batch of chocolate chippers right after breakfast.
That makes enough for the kids at Sunday school tomorrow.

This afternoon a group of the kids from church went down the road
here from us and visited the Corn Maze that one of the farms make
every year.
(We will be going one day soon.)
After that they all came here to the house to have a look at Ken's train
layout.  Ken makes up a list and people can try to find the items on the layout.
It's fun to do and makes you really look at all the details.
Some things on the list are quite hard to find.
I always have chocolate chip cookies for visitors too.
It has become a tradition.
The kids all seemed to enjoy themselves during the hour they were here.

Just home this evening enjoying the nice and quiet after having
17 kids in the house.  😊

Friday

🎃     🎃     🎃
A nice crisp fall morning.
32 degrees and sunrise was at 7:40 and then it was sunny.
Most of my walk now a days is in the dark.

Headed over to the laundromat to put up a church flyer for a
coming event but someone had already beat me to it.
So went to the post office and put the flyer up there.

Walked around town, up Sale Barn, down toward HT, back to town
where I caught up with Cathy and walked around the cemeteries with her.

Then back home.
Walked 6 miles
🎃     🎃     🎃
Made blueberry pancakes for breakfast.

It warmed up nicely today and we had sunny weather in the 60's.

We went to Walmart to pick up a few things.  Some food but mainly
we just walked around to see what we 'needed.'
I needed some new colors of nail polish and two cones of
white cotton yarn.  I'm going to knit a white baby blanket with the yarn.

Stopped up at the house to see how it was going.
The porch is coming along nicely.  Posts up and the joists are in.

Ice cream was on sale at the Shop and Shave again and we stopped
in a got a bunch.  They finally had chocolate chip mint so got a few.
The brand this time was Turkey Hill and their chocolate chip mint is my
favorite of their flavors.
The sale is 4 for $10.

Nice quiet evening at home.

Wednesday

🎃     🎃     🎃
A nice crisp cool fall morning makes for great walking weather.
It was 34 degrees and sunrise was at 7:38.
Some sun, but mostly cloudy.

Work still going on at the Fire House and the car dealer.
Walked all over town and down towards HT a ways.

Saw Cathy around one of the cemeteries and we walked together
around it a couple of times.
After her walk was over and she left I walked over to the ball park loop
and walked around there.
The man who runs around it 5 times was there today.
Haven't seen him for a while.
Saw a woman running who I've never seen before and Lisa
was out running too.
Quite a few people out exercising this morning.

Walked 6.5 miles
🎃     🎃     🎃
Got an email from the library saying that the book The Mysterious Island
had arrived for me and I could now pick it up.
So I walked over there and got it.  The print is a good size and much easier
to read than my own copy of the book.
Also walked to the bank and the post office.

Ken's tractor had a part break so he loaded it up on the trailer
and we took it in to have it fixed.

This afternoon I baked another batch of chocolate chippers for the
kids on Sunday and I'm 6 cookies short so still have one  more batch
to bake before Sunday.

I'm off now to have to some supper and then it will be time
to go to church.

Tomorrow is Fingerprint day at church from 9 to 9 so no time tomorrow
for blogging.  Be back on Friday.

No walk today

🍁     🍁     🍁
No morning walk for me today.
We had to leave early to drive down to Howard County for an appointment.
It's about a 3 hour drive and I knit to make the time go by faster.
Today I knitted another dish/wash cloth and got started on another.
When we got back home we stopped at the house site to see what got done today.
The garage is coming along nicely.
Here's a view of the house from the back.
We were glad to see that the plumber was by too and did work down in the basement.
Spotted this deer up at Happy Trails.
We have lots of deer on our land and there are quite a few
deer trails around.
She stamped her foot a couple of times, snorted and her and another one
turned around and ran away.
That's all for today.
Didn't do much being in the car for about 6 hours.

Pretty Skies this morning

A beautiful start to the day.
🎃     🎃     🎃
54 degrees this morning and sunrise was at 7:36.  A bit windy out there!!
Some clouds in the sky which made for a beautiful sunrise.

I took this picture up on the main road looking between the trees down
at the town pond.
Walked all over town on one of my random walks.  I never seem to follow any of
my mapped out routes anymore, just walk wherever my feet take me.
This picture is behind the ball park loop. I like to walk along
the trail and hear the rustling of the leaves.
Didn't see Cathy till she was at the end of her walk so just walked once
around the parking lot with her.

Workers working on the Fire House putting new brick on the outside
and over at the car dealers they are getting ready for the blacktop
to be put around the new building.

Walked 6.2 miles
🎃     🎃     🎃
When I got back from walking, Ken was already up at the house.
He went up to dig the trench from the power box to the house so the power
can be hooked up, which will hopefully happen in the next few days.
The garage walls went up today.
The garage walls had to be up so the power box could be put on the wall,
then Ronnie won't have to use a generator.

I stayed home today.  It was chilly with rain showers.

My turn has come around again to bake cookies for the kids at Sunday school.
I baked some chocolate chippers this morning.
Have to bake another batch which I will do later in the week.

Ken came home for lunch and when he went back to the house I gave
him three bags of cookies to take up to Ronnie and his two helpers, Cameron, and Billy.

This afternoon I got some reading done and also did a bit of knitting.

A look in the house

This is what I'll be looking at when I look out the kitchen window at the new house
when I'm doing the dishes.
🏠     🏠     🏠
This morning on my walk it was 41 degrees and the sun rose at 7:34.
Once the sun came up it was a nice sunny day with a few clouds.

Early Saturday morning is a nice quiet time around town with
no school or people going to work.

Had a nice walk all around town.
Didn't see any other people out and about.

When I got home I realized that I didn't take any pictures.
Walked 6 miles
🏠     🏠     🏠
After breakfast I did a load of laundry and got that hung up outside and
then we went to Happy Trails and spent the whole day there.

We had a big fire going and burned up all the scrap wood from the house.
Got a lot of brush burned too and have started clearing out where the
driveway will be.
The day zoomed by and we didn't get everything done that we wanted
to but did get a good full days work in.

Except for the linen closet, small broom closet and a closet in the second
bedroom all the interior walls are done.

I walked around the house taking pictures of all the rooms.
Kind of hard getting good pictures but hope this will give you a
good idea of the floor plan.

Taken coming in the house from the garage.
The mud/laundry room.
The washer will go just to the right which I couldn't get in the picture.
Framed out there on the right is a small half bath.
Out of the laundry room and looking in to the kitchen.
Not having a dining room but just a big kitchen.
Opening will be French doors.
The pantry is on the left side of the room across from the French doors.
Pantry there again on the right of the opening where the stairs will go down
to the basement.
Living room.
This picture is taken standing against the back of the house and is in our bedroom. Straight back on the right is a walk in closet.
To the left of that is the bathroom.
The room on the other side of the bathroom is the second bedroom
which we will use as our office.

Looking forward to sitting in my comfortable chair for the rest of the evening.

A smile from me to you.

Walk, seeds, pizza, and books

🎃     🎃     🎃
52 degrees and sun rise was at 7:33 this morning.
One of those random walks around town for me today.
After a couple of miles I ran into Cathy and walked a couple of miles with her.

The Rolling Bakery bakes donuts on Wed, Fri, and Sat and they
sure smell good!!  The other morning  when Ken was up at the building site
one of the concrete guys bought a dozen and Ken had one.  He said
they were better than Krispy Creme.  I have yet to try one.

There have been a few businesses in this building but they never last long.
There was a bar and a cafe while we have been here and most of the
time the building has sat empty.  Just heard today that another business
will be making an attempt.  This time a PIZZA place.  Sounds like a great
idea to me.  Sure hope they make a good pizza and it works out for them.
Walked 6.2 miles
🎃     🎃     🎃
I took the seeds from the biggest sunflower that grew in the yard this
year and put them in a baggie.  Next year I'll plant them at the new house.
Ken went to Lowe's and bought a few pieces of trim and some white paneling
to put in the cabin by the kitchen area.  Then we went up to the cabin
and dropped them off.  Stopped for a quick look at the house site.  The
laundry room wall was going up when we were there.

Came home for lunch.
Ken went back up to the house while I walked to the library.
I mentioned that I was reading The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne
that was on my to read shelf at home but the print is so very tiny.
I though if they had a copy at the library the print would be bigger.
No copies at all at the library but I did put it on reserve and
should have it on Monday.
While there I got out books 3 and 4 of the Mitford Series and started
These High, Green Hills.
Now I'm reading four books at the same time.

Cut down more dead flowers this afternoon.
This time the cone flowers in front of the dining room windows.

Another beautiful sunny day in the high 60's and tomorrow
is to be just the same.

Thursday

What a beautiful dark blue sky.  One of the bluest I think I've ever seen.
Spotted an airplane up there and zoomed in.
🎃     🎃     🎃
A random walk for me this morning all over the place.
No Cathy today.
The temperature was 37 degrees and the sun came up at 7:32 and
was a nice clear, sunny day.

Walked down by the Drane house and saw both horses out in the pasture.
They have started putting the new roof on the Drane house.
The car dealer in town is getting black top on their parking lot
today replacing the gravel one.

Walked 6 miles
🎃     🎃     🎃
Today I drove to church for Blanket for Babies day.
There were 9 of us there making blankets.
I started a new weave-it blanket and made some blue squares.

After lunch I went with Ken up to the building site again.
The outside wall by the garage side was put up today and the top
plate holding everything together was done.
The only interior wall left to do is the laundry room
and the closets.

Another good weather day for house building.  What a blessing it has
been to have such good weather at this time of the year.

No ice cream for me tonight.
I'm having some apple crisp that I made.
Maybe I'll put a dollop of whipped cream on it.

A smile from me to you.

Interior Walls

🎃     🎃     🎃
Another frosty start to the morning.
Temperature 34 and the sun rose at 7:31 and then it was sunny.

Walked all around town, down the main street toward HT, back to
town, around one of the cemeteries a couple of times and
the ball park loop.

Walked around the cemetery with Cathy.

Coming back to town I saw Ronnie heading up to the building site
to get an early start again.  He is easy to spot coming down the road
in his ambulance work truck.

When I got back home Ken had already left and was up at the house site.

Walked 6.3 miles
Found a penny 💰
🎃     🎃
Went through some of my books with the thought of getting rid of some.
Less to have to back up for the move.
I did manage to weed out a few.
I have a couple of rows of books on the bookshelf that I have yet to read
and was looking through them and came across a book by Jules Verne,
called the Mysterious Island and started reading it.  Only read
a few pages but it caught my interest right away.

There is one solitary daisy still blooming in my front garden.
It has hung on through two frosts now.
It warmed up nicely again and it was a beautiful sunny day.
Did some more work in the garden during the morning
and after lunch I went up to the building site.

The garage floor was poured first thing this morning and the guys
worked all day on it getting it smooth while it cured.
Very exciting now that the interior walls
are going up now and we can walk in the different rooms.
Took this picture sitting in the corner of our bedroom.
This one taken while standing in the laundry room.
This one at the end of the day.
That's it for today.
Tomorrow the rest of the interior walls should be done.

A smile from me to you.

Inside and outside

🍁     🍁     🍁
This morning the temperature was 31 degrees with some low hanging clouds.
But once the sun popped over the mountain the sky was clear and blue.

Walked behind my house, through town and up Sale Barn a ways.
Back to the main road and down toward HT.
You can't miss this brightly colored mailbox!!
Back to town and around one of the cemeteries were I caught up with
Cathy and walked there with her.  After she left I walked up around
the other cemetery.
Saw a few Blue Jays around town again and the usual rabbits.

Walked 6.4 miles
🍁     🍁     🍁
Ken went up to house site and stayed working there all day with Ronnie.
Ronnie's helper never showed up so Ken took his place.

I stayed home and got some laundry washed and hung out on the line
and finished my house cleaning.
After lunch I went outside and weeded the front garden down
at the end of the driveway.  Also cut all the dead cone flowers
and daisies and all of the sunflowers in the front yard.
I planted some each week at the beginning of the season so had
sunflowers through the whole season.  I put sunflowers in the bird
feeders too and the birds planted them around too!!

It was a beautiful afternoon.
Temperature made it up to 62 and it was sunny.
After working 3 hours in the yard I sat in the swing
enjoying the day before going back in the house.

A smile from me to you.
