Pancake supper

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes.
Got up a little earlier today because Ken had to leave for his few days
of fun at 6:00.
So I left on my walk a few minutes after 6:00.
It was 58 degrees out and mostly sunny.
Walked through town, down toward Happy Trails and back to town.
The usual route around the cemeteries and the ball park loop.
No one was fishing at the little town pond and I walked around it.
The clouds took over the blue sky and sun by the time I got home.
Walked 6.2 miles
πŸ„     πŸ„     πŸ„
We had a visitor in the back yard last night.
A bear came through town and decided to stop and have a snack of
bird seed in our yard.  In the process it destroyed one of the feeders and
bent the steel pole to the ground.
Tonight I'll be sure and bring the remaining feeder inside.
Definitely not putting feeders out at the new house.

Did my usual inside chores around the house and was just
about to go outside and do some more weeding when it got dark and
it started raining.
So I got the bathroom downstairs by the guest bedroom cleaned.
It doesn't get much use and that will probably be the last time
I have to clean that one.
Took pictures off the wall in the guest bedroom and now that room is empty.
Just needs a bit of putty and touch up paint where nails were in the wall.

The rain stopped and the sun came out so I went out to get
some of that weeding done.
Only worked about 1/2 hour when it rained again.
Back inside the house I didn't do much of anything for the rest of the day.
Mostly read.

For supper I made chocolate chip pancakes like I usually do
when Ken is gone.  I even put a dollop of whipped cream on my pancake.

The sun is back out again but I'll wait until tomorrow do try
weeding again.

Hope your day was sunny and bright.

Another year older

These lilacs are on one of the 4 bushes that I have.
For the past 4 years they have only had a few blossoms on each bush,
this year they are covered in blooms.
I can smell them all over the yard.
I took some cuttings and put them in a mason jar and now the
house smells wonderful as soon as you step inside.
🎈     πŸŽ‚     🎈
60 degrees and sunny for my morning walk.
It was a beautiful morning for walking and I walked my usual route
through town and down toward Happy Trails and all over town.
Both cemeteries and the ball park loop too.

Still one way traffic through part of town as the sidewalks get
replaced.  Some of the sidewalk they are ripping up look perfectly
fine to me and wonder why they are putting new ones in.

Saw someone walking I haven't seen before.
No one else out walking.

Spotted this bird but don't know what kind it is.
Picture not so great because I had to zoom in.
Walked my usual 6 miles
🎈     πŸŽ‚     🎈
Today is my birthday and I am thankful that the good Lord has
once again gotten me through another year.
I am so blessed to be 67 years old with good health.

Not doing anything special, it really is just another day
and every day I try to make the most of it and enjoy it.

After breakfast we went out and did a few errands.
Walmart
Tractor Supply Store
Green Acres
Shop and Save

It was still late morning when we got home so before lunch I mowed the lawn again
while Ken started getting ready for the men's getaway.
Every year some of the men from church go in the woods for 3 days
to ride ATV's, fish and just have a good time.
Usually 15 or so of them go but this year there will only be 8.
They always go to the same place in WV a few hours away.

After lunch I baked some more Snickerdoodles.
This time for Ken to take with him tomorrow.

The daisy garden out front needed weeding again so I decided
to do that.  The weeds that grow among the daisies I call sticker
weeds.  Don't know what they are but they sure like growing in my yard.

Soon it will be time for supper and then off to
Wednesday night church service.

Hope your day was a good one and you smiled often.

A work day

62 degrees this morning at 6:30 when I left on my walk and it was sunny.
Walked on the streets behind my house to start and then over
to the post office to mail off a Netflix.
Then walked through town and up Barn Sale Rd.
The black dog that ran out in the road after me the other day
was out again, but this time he was tied up.

Walked around the cemeteries and around town.
One way road though town this morning with a flag man as work
on the sidewalks continue to get replaced.

One of the houses on the main road is going to be knocked down
and they started by taking off the vinyl siding.
This is the back view.
I wonder what will be done with the lot.
 Walked 6 miles

🌸     🌸     🌸
We had a fun time at the BBQ yesterday.
Great weather, yummy food, good friends, and laughter.
Here's Ken having a race with Gracie.
Before the BBQ started there was a word of prayer and we all
stood and sang the national anthem.
🌸     🌸     🌸
Ken took more loads in the pickup of the taken apart train layout.
This time I helped him and it is what we did all day.
Here is what the new house basement looks like with all the
train stuff piled in.
We also emptied and took these white cabinets out of the old house
garage and put them in the new basement.
Some big pieces of the layout that Ken salvaged sit here in the back of
the pickup ready to be taken to the new house.
After a day of work we decided to get pizza from Ledo's for supper.

Nice now to relax after having a very productive work day.
Looking forward to my ice cream.
Tonight's flavor will be cookies and cream.

A happy day to you.

62 degrees this morning at 6:30 when I left on my morning walk.
Some fog around early on but then there some sun around.
Walked the Farm Loop.
There were a few cows in the front pasture at the dairy farm.
The chickens were all running around
and also saw a few barn cats.

The farm house at the dairy farm is getting an addition.
They ripped off the porch a while ago and I did wonder why.
When I got to the end of the road instead of turning left and heading
back to town I turned right and walked this way.
Eventually turned around and walked back to town and home.
You can see this pond in the above picture on the left side of the road.
Here I faced it and took the picture.
Walked 6 miles
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ     πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ     πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
Made blueberry pancakes for breakfast and then I got busy baking
some Snickerdoodle cookies.   We are invited to a BBQ this afternoon
and made them to bring there.

While I did that Ken loaded up the pickup and started bringing more
loads of his train stuff and brought them up to the new house.
It is all going in the basement and during the winter Ken can
get it all organized and start on his new layout.

Once I was done with the baking, I helped Ken load up the pickup
truck though I didn't go with him to unload (had things
to do around home) at the other end.
He  made quite a few trips, I lost count of how many.

Leaving in a little while to go to the BBQ.
Enjoy your day.

Saturday Critters - bears

Linking up with Eileen for Saturday's Critters.

60 degrees and sunny this morning at 6:30 when I headed out the door for
my morning walk.
Walked around the Farm Loop and snapped a few
pictures of some of the critters I saw.

Also saw a few deer, more cows, and lots of different birds.
Robins, Mourning Doves, Killdeers, Red Winged Black birds,
and a Gray Catbird but wasn't able to get pictures of them.

Once back to town I walked the last 2 miles around there before
going home.

Walked 6 miles
πŸ„     πŸ“     πŸ‡
My son took this picture of the three bears last week
a block away from our new house.
It was taken with his phone and the bears all ran away when they saw him.
🐻     🐻     🐻

A couple people had questions about the Fingerprint Ministry at our church.
For those of you who don't know what it is I wrote a post about it
a couple of years ago HERE.

😊     😊     😊
Did my usual morning chores and then walked over to the library
to pick up a book that was on hold for me.

Then it was time to mow the lawn once again.
Seems like I just did that.

Ate lunch.
After lunch tackled taking the rotting fence down from
around the garden.
It was a project I did all on my own.
Here's the before picture.
Loaded all the logs into the trailer.
Raked around the edges and mowed all the tall grass.
Then I weeded the six raised beds.
Four are ready for planting.
The other two have rhubarb and asparagus already growing in them.
Three hours later the work was done.
It won't take long before the grass grows over to the edges.
It was a lot of work but I feel a good sense of accomplishment
and glad that I was able to do it all on my own.
When I was done I stood in the middle of the garden and yelled,
Hallelujah it's done! 😊
I wonder if anyone heard me.

Sure looking forward to that ice cream in a little while.

Yesterday and today

Busy day at church yesterday - it was Fingerprint day.
We left the house at 8:30 in the morning and didn't get back home
till 10:30 in the evening.
Just didn't feel like blogging when we got home.
Work hours were from 9:00 - 9:00 and people came and went
as they had time.
We just happened to stay the whole time.
Set up in the morning and put everything away before we left.
A long day but rewarding and fun too.
We got over 8,000 Romans books put together and ready to ship
out to Mexico.
Lunch and supper was provided.
Lunch was tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches which
Sandy and Brian provided for us.
Supper, Pastor called out for pizza.
I've eaten by share of pizza this week!!

I did manage to get a 3.5 mile walk in yesterday morning
before we left.
Some morning fog burned off quickly and it was a beautiful sunny day.
πŸ¦‹     πŸ¦‹     πŸ¦‹
This morning it was 50 degrees and sunny when I left at 6:30
for my walk.
My usual walk all over town.
Thought these purple flowers were pretty.
I think they are irises.

More sections of sidewalk in town are getting replaced so had
to walk around a few barriers.
Nice to have new sidewalks.

Seemed to be a lot more cars driving through town.
Probably because it is the start of Memorial Day weekend and
they are headed to Deep Creek Lake just a few miles up the road.

Walked 6 miles
πŸ¦‹     πŸ¦‹     πŸ¦‹
Ken and Edd met for their weekly Friday morning breakfast at Denny's.
On the way home he stopped at the Shop and Save and picked up
a supply of ice cream.
Missed it the last few days and looking forward to it later tonight.

Did a load of laundry and hung it outside.
Nice sunny day for it.  The slight breeze dried it quickly.

Did some more weeding again in the front yard.
This time along walkway garden.

My next project is to tidy up the garden in the side yard.
We made a fence out of small tree trunks around our
vegetable garden.  They are starting to rot now so I'll be
getting rid of them and just tidy things up out there.
Making it look better for the house sale.
I took a before picture today and once I finish I'll post a
before and after picture.
The rhubarb and asparagus are growing now as they just come up every year
but I'm not going to plant anything this year.
   That's about it for today.

Busy inside and out

A rainy misty start to my walk this morning and 60 degrees
so took along my umbrella.
After about a mile the rain stopped and after I'd walked
4 miles the sun was trying to come out.
Didn't make an appearance during my walk but did see the sun later in the morning.

Since Memorial Day is coming flags are put out on all the
Veterans graves in all three cemeteries.
Sure smelled good walking past the lilac and
azalea bushes here along the road.
Walked 6 miles
🎈     🎈     🎈
We will be putting our house up for sale the beginning of June.
This morning I rearranged some furniture around to make
the house look as big as possible.
Put my collections in closets and basically
decluttered the house.
Amazing how much bigger it makes all the rooms look.
That took care of the morning.

After lunch it was back to outside and getting more weeding done
and just to spruce up the yard a bit.

It's been a busy day and it's nice to sit and relax.

2 pick up loads

Left the house this morning at 6:20.
It was 61 degrees, cloudy and looking like rain.
Had my usual walk around town.

Part of the sidewalk at the edge of town is getting replaced.
Looked like it was all ready today to get the concrete poured.
All the workers very polite and all said good morning as I passed by.

A couple people fishing at the pond but didn't see anyone
out walking.

On the way back home as I passed the library I felt the first
rain drops.  Library only a quarter mile from home so I made it
home before it started raining in earnest.

Walked 6 miles

🦏      πŸ¦’     🐘
Since it was raining we started packing up a few things to get ready
to move to the basement in the new house.

Mid morning the rain stopped but only for a short while.
Rained heavy at times but finally at the end of the day the sun came out.

Once it cleared up we loaded up the pick-up truck up with some
some of our stuff and brought it up to the new house and put it in a
corner of the basement.
Most of the stuff is from Ken's train layout.  He saved as much
as he could but the layout is pretty much destroyed.
He will enjoy building another again.
Great hobby to have during the winter up here.

We took a load before supper and one after supper.
The move has begun.

Noticed that the siding was delivered and it is all sitting in the garage.
Maybe if it is nice tomorrow Ronnie can get started on the outside of the house.

 That's it for today.
No ice cream this evening, we've run out.
That doesn't happen very often.

A day outside

πŸ¦†     πŸ¦†     πŸ¦†
52 degrees this morning and a mix of sun and clouds.
At one point it got pretty dark and I thought it would rain and did feel
a few rain drops.  Then the sun came back out and it was nice again.

Started walking on the streets behind my house and then
down through town and just my usual walk around town.

Star and a pony watch as I walk down toward them.
This is as far as I got.  Tall wet grass kept me from walking up to them.
 Found a penny.
Walked my usual 6 miles.
πŸ¦†     πŸ¦†     πŸ¦†
Many of you expressed concern over my wasp sting the other day.
Since I had my sock on when I stepped on it, it really didn't hurt.
Just at first like stepping on a pointy stone.
I'm fine but thanks for caring.
πŸ¦†     πŸ¦†     πŸ¦†
Spent the day outside.
The lawn got mowed.
Weeded side garden.
Moved some primrose over to another area.
We emptied out the dirt from two raised garden beds.
Then Ken and I put them in the trailer along with my backyard swing
and we took them up to Happy Trails.  Garden beds got dropped
off behind the tractor barn and we brought the swing over by the new house.
Will put up somewhere in the back yard, not sure where yet.
Back at the house Ken did went around the edges of things
with the weed wacker.

I hosed down a bunch of milk crates that were in the back shed.
Going to pack up some stuff in them.  Good for loading them up with
house stuff for the move and I like that they have handles on them.
They are half sized ones so you can't put a lot in them to make it heavy.
Easy to unpack them too and then just bring them back to the house
and load them up again.

The day zoomed by and then it was time to get cleaned up
and go to Brenda's for supper.
It's been a busy day.
We'll sure sleep good tonight.

Slight change in morning routine

🐌     🐌     🐌
Changed the morning routine up a bit this morning.
First thing I made us blueberry pancakes for breakfast.
Ken then headed up to the new house to do some work.
He is working on the grading around the house and the driveway.
Sure is a blessing having the tractor.
I rode up with him to the house wearing my walking clothes and shoes.
Went inside the house for a bit to look around.
Everything is looking so nice and I can't wait to be able to start
moving in.

After my look around the house I started on my walk.
It was 50 degrees and looked like rain so had my umbrella with me
though I never had to use it.
Walked home which is 2 1/2 miles.
On the way I took a few pictures of some wildflowers growing along
side of the road.

When I got home I dropped off my umbrella and my sweatshirt
and headed out for the rest of my walk around town.

Up at the town pond there were people all around the pond fishing.
Today was the annual Youth Fishing Rodeo.

Activity over at the ball park getting the field ready for a
little league game.  Dirt being raked, bases put out, lines drawn,
and even a few kids throwing balls back and forth.

The rest of my walk was around town up.
Walked a total of 5 1/2 miles
⛅️     ⛅️     ⛅️
By lunch time most of the clouds moved off and we ended
up having lots of sunshine. 🌀
I went outside in the front garden and did more weeding.
Spent a couple of hours doing that.

I was going to sit on the front porch and have a drink
and stepped out the door in my socks with no shoes.
I thought I stepped on a sharp stone but when I looked
saw that it was wasp.  There were more wasps flying around so I decided
to have my drink inside.

Got some knitting done this afternoon on the blue baby blanket I'm making.
About 5 more inches and I should be done.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Not one but two

🐝     πŸ›     🐞
Left the house at 6:50 this morning and it was cloudy, windy and 60 degrees.
Another morning walk all around town.
Walk the same places just in different sequences.

Didn't see the second Robin below the first one till I saw
the picture.  These were in the cemetery on top of the hill.
Found 2 lucky pennies. πŸ’°
They were in the middle of the path around the ball park about
20 feet apart.  Brand new ones too.

Walked 6.2 miles
πŸ„     πŸ„     πŸ„
Ken had asked me yesterday if I would bake some Chocolate Chip Cookies
 so I did that today.
Bible Time is coming up in July and I always bake about 10 dozen so
I put three dozen aside for that and put them in the freezer.
This way there are not too many of them around to eat.
Ken ate a few right of the oven.

It was a cloudy misty day so I was in the house all day.
Got some touch up painting done on the kitchen cabinets
which I had painted white a couple of years ago.

Took a few more things off the walls but can't really do much else
to get ready to move until we can start bringing things over to the new house.
We aren't going to box up everything and then bring it to the new house.
But just bring things over put them away and then come back
to the house for more stuff.  It should be a nice easy move.
I'm thinking it will take a while to sell our current house so
we should have plenty of time.

Right now there is dough being made in the bread machine
for homemade pizza for supper.
Sure looking forward to that, haven't had pizza at home
for a while.

Hope your day is a happy one.

Breakfast Take-Out

57 degrees this morning and rainy when I walked out the door.
Only a half walk this morning.
Walked 3 miles around town.
This is the cemetery where I see all the bunnies.
A short walk because I had to be home to make a breakfast.
It was Baby Blanket day at church.
We have started going earlier and before we start working
on the blankets we have breakfast and then a devotional.
Each month one of us takes turns.
This was my turn to bring breakfast.
I made an egg casserole and brought a bowl of
strawberries, blueberries, and grapes.
Took the egg casserole out of the oven just before I left and wrapped
it in tin foil.  It's a half hour drive to church and it stayed warm.
There were 7 of us there working on blankets.
I enjoy this time with the other women as we get blankets made.

Since it was a rainy day Ken stayed home.  Too muddy to be on the tractor.
After lunch we went up to the new house.
Ronnie is putting in the railing on the basement stairs and
working on putting shelves in the closets and pantry.

We made a quick trip back to town to the lumber store to exchange
one of the stair brackets which was the wrong size.
Also picked up another piece of wood for the railing that he needed.
Thought we would save him a trip.

We had a few breaks in the rain today and almost saw the sun
a couple of times.

Want to thank you all for participating in my little closet color
survey.

Closet Color

This morning it was 60 degrees and cloudy.
Thought maybe it would rain but it never did.
With lots of rain and sun everything looks so pretty and green now.

Down by the Drane house I noticed a family of geese going to the pond.
Had my usual 6 mile walk all around town.
As I passed by the post office one of the workers was just getting
to work and said he hoped I made it home before it rained.

The usual people gave a wave and a toot as I walked and good smells
were coming out of the bakery again.
Wednesday is donut day.
Always nice getting out the first thing in the morning and walking.
🐞     🐞     🐞
I took down all the plates in the kitchen I had above the kitchen
cabinets and washed them.
Cleaned off my desk
and packed up some things in my office.
Figured I'd better start thinking of getting this
house ready to sell.

Started meatballs in the slow cooker this morning for supper.
Having an early supper at 4:30 because I have to leave at
4:50 to walk over to the library.
It's coloring day.
Ken will pick me up and we'll go to church and afterward
we have to stop in Walmart and pick up a few things.

Hope you have all had a good day and have
a good evening.

58 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds as I headed
out the door on my walk.

Walked my usual walk around town, the ball park loop,
both cemeteries and town toward Happy Trails and back home.

Ken passed me in the truck and gave me a toot on his way
to the new house.

Couple people fishing at the town pond.
The cemetery bunnies were out hopping around,
saw 4 of them today.

Exciting times up at the new house today.
The carpets were put in our bedroom and closet,

second bedroom/office,
and basement stairs which is the same color as the office.
The last big thing to do on the house is the siding.
Inside just finishing stuff.  Shelves in the closets,
light fixtures, ceiling fans, a few more doors and things like that.
