Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A look at the heron

It was a little cooler again last night so when morning came there were some icy patches again while walking around the lake. The sun came out though and it was a great morning for walking. The sun felt so good on my face! I was walking along the path that leads to the lake and stopped on the little foot bridge over the stream. There were big hunks of frozen snow from the plow along the sides and I had a bit of fun throwing them over the railing and watching them splash into the water. I saw the heron at the edge of the lake. Just before I took this picture I saw him eat a fish. Really cool!!Here's a squirrel that just stayed on this part of the snow while I passed by so I took the opportunity to take his picture. I told him I was going to put his picture on my blog and then he took off. He was not impressed.I saw another animal run up ahead on the path but could not tell what it was. It looked like a small slim ground hog but it moved way too fast and it didn't have the wobble that ground hogs walk with. I can't think what it could be. He didn't stay around long enough for me to get his picture.
I walked 6.384 miles which was 13,083 steps.

I have started doing my exercise video again of Body Electric. I miss the workout that it gives me. Even though you can get a good workout with the Wii I feel like I work harder with the video. I will still do the Wii because it's fun! I'm a bit sore today from the workout but a good sore.

I didn't eat breakfast until after 10 this morning and then it was an English muffin. I got the cinnamon raisin kind. I hadn't had one of those in a long time and it sure tasted good!

I just puttered around the house today doing a little of this and that. Didn't get very much accomplished but there was nothing I HAD to get done. It will all be there tomorrow and I enjoyed today.
I got a little knitting and some reading in too.

After dinner we went out and did a few errands.

I am only having 2 cookies instead of 4 because I still haven't been able to lose those couple of pounds from the cruise. I thought once I got back to walking that those pounds would come off but it ain't happening. So the next step is cut out a few extra calories.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thursday

This morning was above freezing and no icy spots. I walked around my lake again and had a nice 6.2 mile walk. There was a light mist coming down when I left but it stopped after a little while. Not many people out but I did see a few of the regulars. There was a whole flock of robins around the lake and I got this not good picture of one. I haven't seen any deer lately which is surprising. You think they would stand out against the white snow.
Its fun to see the shapes that the melting snow takes.

A cloudy dreary day so I stayed home and did some things around the house. Did work and then had time to read. I'm half way finished with Under the Dome and on page 700.

I went to the Ladies Bible Study again tonight. It was a video week and next week we will once again break down into small groups.
I'm really liking this study group.

Now I'm about to have a cup of tea and a couple of cookies. Watch a little television and knit.

Hope your day was a bright one.

Another day walking around the lake and I walked 6.2 miles. It was a cloudy morning but it was above freezing and no wind. The path that leads away from the lake (on right) for a while has now been cleared so I have my normal walk around the lake back again. There were a few icy spots yet and I saw a man fall with his camera and tripod in hand. I went over to see if he was hurt and I'm happy to say he was fine, just embarrassed. His camera and tripod survived the fall too. I think he was more concerned about his camera than himself. I saw a walking friend Jeannie who I haven't see for 2 months!! and stopped to talk with her. There were lots of geese around as usual but these two stayed around to get their picture taken.

After breakfast and doing a few things around the house, I gathered up my knitting and headed out to Borders for the morning knitting group. Last week while talking to Bonnie I discovered that she had a wet saw and she was kind enough to offer to lend it to me so today I came home with the saw. Now we will be able to make a start on putting the slate up on the fire place walls.
Next week the knitting group will be meeting in Savage Mill. Borders told us the group was getting too big to meet there and told us today was our last day.

Didn't do a lot at home once I got back. Just puttering around a bit and then read.

Some of you know that my daughter and 2 grandkids were moving to Denver. They left Sunday in two cars, my daughter driving one and newly licensed grandson driving the other. With a dog, a cat, and a few hermit crabs they have made it safely to Denver. They are staying with friends and will move into their new home on Thursday. :-)

We are having a mix of rain and snow now and through the night. No accumulation is expected. A nice night to be inside where it's dry and warm.

Hope you found a reason to smile today.
Happyone :-)

Walking around the lake

I am happy to say that the path that leads to the lake is now cleared and I can once again walk around the lake. I can't tell you how good it felt to come up over the little hill and spot the lake sitting out there before me. The main path all around the lake is cleared. The ice on part of the lake is now melted but as you can see in this photo a lot of it is still frozen.A few of the regulars were out walking too and it was good to see those familiar faces once again. Nice to hear the birds chattering to each other or maybe they were saying good morning and welcome back to us. :-)
I walked a little over 6 miles today and felt wonderful!

I baked chocolate chip cookies this first thing this morning. I used regular chocolate chips this time. I put some of the cookies in the freezer right away so I wouldn't eat any.

I had a dentist appointment early this afternoon and took the rest of the cookies with me to give to the dentist. I handed the cookies to the receptionist and then sat down in the waiting room. There were 4 other people waiting. We sat on leather chairs, watching television, I took out my knitting, and we all started talking. It was like sitting in someones living room having a visit. Amy, the dental technician came out and asked for the cookie recipe. Then it was my turn to get into the chair. Dr. Arnouk drilled out my old silver filling and replaced it with a nice new white one. I didn't need to have any Novocain so didn't have to deal with the numbness afterwards. All in all a great trip to the dentist. :-)
BTW - by the time I left the dentist all the cookies were gone!!!

Boy is my car dirty!!! With all the melting going on mixed with all the salt on the roads leaves one very dirty car.

I just put pizza dough in the bread machine. I know you're wondering how we can eat pizza yet again, but this time is homemade which makes it different. :-)

Don't know whats up for the rest of the day, but that's all for now.
Hope your Monday is a good one.
Happyone :-)
