Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Our Church

Our church is not a great cathedral filled with works of art,
With statues carved of saints and cherubim,
But just a simple edifice that is built to honour God,
And where we meet to praise and worship Him.
We don't have famous preachers clad in crested, flowing robes,
Who speak of riches and prosperity,
But only humble men of God who tell how Jesus died
To pay for all our sins and set us free.
We have no lofty stained glass windows drawing the praise of men,
Or sound of mighty organs in our ear,
But as we lift our voices and we sing of Jesus' love,
We find the help to conquer doubt and fear.
We gather as a family to hear the Word of God,
And we are always blessed because we came.
Our fellowship and sweet communion fit us for the task
Of living to bring honour to His Name.
Our church is just for sinners who are washed in Jesus' blood,
Who try to follow Christ, His works to do.
And everyone who has a need is welcome in our midst.
We pray that you will come to know Him too.

A Blessed Sunday to you.

The church I went to when I was growing up was a simple log cabin. My dad worked at a titanium mine and the cross behind the altar was a simple cross made of titanium that the mine donated to the church. We shared priests with five or six other little towns in the area. I loved the smallness of it.

As far as I can tell, no need for churches...just faith in the almighty.

Spectacular beauty in that photo Karen.

Hi Karen, On my walk today I was thinking about your blog. I wonder how many people have found your blog to be an inspiration to get out, start walking, and simply take some photos along the way to share on a blog. There must be many of them. Someday, I hope you will let us know of any blogs you especially enjoy were folks take photos along their daily walks. Wishing you and Ken a fine week ahead. John

I got my 2nd Covid vaccine today and my son’s Bible verse for the next two weeks is Colossians 1:18. Our church is not open right now but I can’t wait to get back. We talked about how Jesus is the head (and the brain tells the body what to do) and we, the people are the Church. God doesn’t need us to do anything but He does invite us to be a working part of His work here on this earth. We homeschool so we can incorporate a lot of wonderful things into our lessons. Thank you for sharing this poem. I can’t wait to be back in church working with The Body for Him.
