Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Layers of ice and snow

No outside walk today and had to be content to walk in the basement.
Got bundled up and tried walking outside but couldn't even make
it to the bottom of the driveway and that was wearing my Yak Trax.
Layers of snow, ice, snow, ice, and more snow.

Picture today is a train layout one.

Knitted another hat.  Tried to enlarge the pattern but it still came
out too small for an adult.
I'll look for a pattern for adults and try again but not right now.
That's enough of hats for a while. ๐Ÿ™‚

Started knitting a new pattern for dish/wash clothes.
Got started on our last jigsaw puzzle for the season.
This last one is 1000 pieces of our state of Maryland.

Got some reading done this afternoon too.
It's been kind of a lazy day around the house but still
a good day.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

My grips were on as I went slip sliding around today in the driveway. The plow can't do everything.

Ken's village does make for interesting viewing as you walk about.

You don't believe in puzzles after February?

Neat details in this part of the train set.

...here today it was a day to stay wrapped up inside. Thanks For sharing more of Ken's train layout.

I think we all enjoy seeing more of Ken's handiwork along the tracks. The entire layout is a true work of art. Nasty old ice ~ that's the worst. We had sunshine for most of the day, so today's walk went without a hitch...other than having to trudge through seven inches of snow.

Hi Karen. I always enjoy pictures of the train layout. I think it is so interesting. Lazy days are nice, especially when it is cold and snowy outside. We are getting snow here tonight too. See you again tomorrow.

I keep thinking about another puzzle...I have only did two actual puzzles this winter. So I might start at least one more. I need to get some more hexies ready to stitch on at night. I enjoy that so much. I had forgotten how much I liked stitching by hand. I keep looking for a light, but wish I could go somewhere and test them...I could get so much more done if I could see good at night.

I shoveled snow today...I thought of you. Thank God it was light and fluffy...it was a foot deep and deeper most places I shoveled. From drifting. I am not sure how many inches we got...neighbor came over and pushed the snow for us to get out of the garage and side parking.

I’m so sorry you couldn’t get out and walk! We had SUNSHINE here yesterday so Luke and I did our schoolwork outside at the picnic table by the pond. It’s suppose to be sunny here today but apparently, the weather report was put out by a politician today. There is no sun whatsoever. If we could find a shrinking machine, we could just all go and live in Ken’s beautiful model! I hope you get a good melting today so your walks outside can resume.

I wish you could be outside walking, but I must admit to enjoying these glimpses of the train layout. This one is so realistic with the construction project in process. Ken must have a wonderful imagination.

I love the occasional view of Ken's train layout, it's marvelous. It seems the weather is always perfect there. :)

Yes, the ice is treacherous. Best to avoid it. Not worth a fall. And some places, the ice can not be eliminated.

This is your husband's hobby? Very interesting...

With all this snow, ice, cold temps... Being still in Deep Winter... I am feeling like still enjoying Hibernation and more Rest. Like the season is doing... -smile-

We walked very carefully after meeting a woman who had just fallen on some ice. She had a goose egg over one eye and was holding her wrist in such a way that I wonder if she broke it. Actually, we had a day of sunshine today. Then the rest of the week can be summed up in one word. Rain. Oh well, I have lots of projects to keep me busy.

Glad you have some interesting railroad scenery to enjoy while walking inside. Our friends in Texas are having quite a time with freezing temps and rolling blackouts. So good to have power and heat! Hope you find a good adult sized knitting pattern for a hat!

You know Karen, I have known you for awhile now and it occurred to me as I looked at your husband’s creation just how many times he has packed up that ENTIRE layout and move it and unpacked it again and set it up again, and repeated that process. Since I have known you I count 3 times which in my mind seems like a lot, but there was “moving history” before I met you. What an effort! Hopefully you guys have ended up in your forever home and that huge display has seen its last move.
