Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

2 Walking Sticks

The temperature was 62 degrees this morning with a mix of
sun and clouds, and very still when I started walking to town.

Remember Ki that little pesky dog?
I still see her once in a while but the last dozen times or so
she hasn't come charging out at me.
Now I usually get a little token bark and that's it.
Today she didn't even bark at me!
I think I can finally say she has gotten used to me walking past her house.

Came across this little orange salamander crossing the road.

Walked to town and around both of the cemeteries.
Went through town and around the ball park loop and then around town.
Saw Lena and her friend Pam walking around the cemetery and then
saw them again around the ball park.

Ken came to town so I got a ride back home with him.

Walked 5.8 miles

Needed a couple of things from the store so we went out just
before lunch.  On the way back stopped at the library to pick up a DVD
that was ready for pick up. (Homicide Life on the Street).

This afternoon I made the cupcakes that I got the money for yesterday
from Jackie.
The money is folded up in tin foil and put at the bottom of the
cupcake liners, then the batter is added and cupcakes baked.

I made 4 dozen - 2 dozen vanilla and 2 dozen chocolate.
Sorry for the blurry picture.

Anni - Here's a picture of my walking stick.

Ken was outside and called to me to come look at the walking stick.
There was a real Walking Stick climbing on the porch post.

It's been a nice day.  Sun clouds with a nice breeze.
Just about time for supper.
Making BLT's.

TWO walking sticks on one post. I really like your walking stick your son made. Beautiful finish. (and the insect, harmless, but still a bit creepy.) Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it very much.

And fantastic looking cupcakes!

...that salamander sure is a great find, the aggregate used for blacktop in your area is interesting. Ours is just gray. I have several walking sticks like the first one, but the second one is neat!

Same here...it has been so long since I saw the Walking Stick insect that I don't remember where or when, except I think it was in Tennessee. I like your walking stick, an so love the orange color that the salamander is.

That's a neat Red Eft! It's the juvenile stage of the Eastern Newt.

Well that was cool to see that other walking stick. Such an interesting creature. Love that cupcake idea. I enjoyed seeing the salamander, too. Such a wonderful encouraging verse about our Lord! Thank you!

That salamander is so pretty...for a salamander. I remember when you got those great cupcake carriers...very nifty. If I were a kid, I'd be tickled with that surprise in my cupcake. 🧁

I hope the little guy made it across the street. How fun that the insect walking stick would show up just as you got yours. I guess you just got it and it is lovely.

Lovely clouds in the first picture!
I've never seen a salamander but if I ever get to I hope it's a pretty orange one like the one you saw.

A great looking sky. I've never seen an orange salamander before, it looks like a child's rubber figurine.

I hadn't seen walking stick in years then saw one a few summers ago at a state park! I suppose it will be a long time before I see one again! Such interesting bugs!
