Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Good Morning

I managed to get in a 5.8 mile walk and home in time to get ready for church.  Walked the quick way around the lake.
Psalm 143:8
Cause me to hear thy loving kindness in the morning:
for in thee do I trust:
cause me to know the way wherein  I should walk:
for I lift up my soul unto thee.

And now I'm off to get ready for church.
A blessed day to you.

Pretty Petunias

A nice cool start to the day with a temperature of 52 degrees for my walk this morning.  A mixture of sun and clouds once sunrise came.

I walked one of my connect the path routes but before starting it I walked up to the liquor store to see if there were any coins in the parking lot.  No luck today.  Hasn't been a good month for coins, but there is still one more day to the month.
There were people scattered all along the way I walked, not a lot but they seemed to be spaced out evenly.
I saw a deer and her two babies along one of the paths and a flicker woodpecker came flying past me and landed high in a tree in someones yard.

On the last path I came across my walking friends Petey and John and stopped to talk to them for a bit.  They are both still healthy and smiling. : ) They inspire me with their walking and attitude.

Walking past the schools I saw an exercise group of about 8 women doing exercises on the grass.  On the other side of the school people were meeting up with their dogs where they let them off their leads so they can play together.

By the time I got home I had walked 6.6 miles.

We had the first showing of the house yesterday.  The man liked it but is not interested in buying it.  Needs too much work to make it work for him.  Oh well, that is only the first person.

Ken was out this morning but came home to bring me out to lunch.  We went to a favorite place of ours in Mt Airy.  : )

Stopped at Weis to get some ice cream and stuff to make BLT's for supper.  We use bacon bits on our sandwiches.

On the way to Weis I commented on the pretty petunias growing in the median by the traffic light.  On the way out we got the red light and Ken hopped out of the truck and picked a couple of the petunias and handed them to me.  When we got home I put them in a blue bottle and have it sitting right by my computer to remind me of how thoughtful and romantic Ken is.  : )
Right now he's down in the garage straightening up his side of the garage.  After seeing my side I guess it gave him the idea to do his side too!

I took down the summer wreath from the front door and hung up the fall one.  Now fall is officially here!

We're home for the rest of the day now.  I hope to get a little reading done.

Hope your Saturday is sunny and bright.

Starting in the dark

A warm morning once again with a temperature of 63 degrees.  It rained last night but had stopped by my walking time.  It is pretty dark now when I leave at 6:30.  When it's dark it makes you more aware of the sounds you hear.  First I could hear the swish of cars tires on the wet roads.  Coming up to the traffic light I could hear a click as the light changed.  Arriving at the path I heard the night sounds yet of crickets and the cicadas and the sounds of traffic in the distance.  Also the sound of the drops of rain from the wet leaves drifting down from branch to branch.  Arriving at the lake it started to get light out and sounds of the crickets and cicadas stopped and the traffic noise drifted away. The chirping of the birds and the geese waking up welcomed me to the lake.
I had a nice walk around the lake.  A handful of people were out and a boat or two on the lake with fishermen have a relaxing start to their day.

Walking over the red footbridge I stopped to watch a heron standing in the water at the edge.  Later on the path behind on the church on the way home I saw another one.  It could even have been the same one.  He flew down low over the water and perched on a branch. You can barely seem him here in the middle of the picture.
Another most enjoyable walk this morning to give me a good start to another day.
I walked 6.3 miles.

Did the usual house chores.  You know what they say about house cleaning.  It's something no one notices unless you don't do it.  I notice though and feel better when I know everything is clean and shiny.

I did some knitting today and finished the slippers I was making for Mary Jo.  I've put a picture of them on my other blog and if you'd like to see them click HERE.  I'm going to make a pair for myself next.

Puttering around here for the rest of the afternoon.  Have some more work I could do but I don't really feel like doing it.  After all it's Friday! : )

Hope your Friday is a good one.

My day so far

Warmer today than yesterday at 62 degrees.  A bit of clouds around this morning.
I walked one of my connect the path routes which took me on three different paths with walking on roads in between each one.
A driver stopped to let a deer and her two little ones cross the road.
I saw one other deer along one of the paths.
On this route I walk through the school parking lot.  Middle school on the left and the elementary school on the right.  All the buses for the middle school had just pulled away as I got here.
Unusual to see all these cars parked along the road I walk on.  A townhouse complex was getting new roads and parking lots so everyone had to park out along the street.  Some a couple of blocks away.
A few people scattered here there throughout my walk.
I walked 6 miles.
Sunrise 7:00
Sunset 6:56
********************
After hanging a couple of loads of laundry (I don't understand how only two people can have so many dirty clothes) out on the line I went out on the deck and ate my breakfast (cottage cheese and raisins) out amongst the clothes blowing in the wind.
I went out in my little front yard this morning and cut those nasty yews back again and pulled one completely out.  I just hope they don't decide to replace it when the gardeners do their work.  If I'm home I'll tell them not to bother.  I hate those things.  The petunias and some purple flowers that I don't know the name of are still blooming and looking good.  There are also some pink flowers and the hen and chicks.

I cleaned up the inside of my side of the garage.  Things were starting to line up along the edge and I didn't want to bang my car door into anything.  I have to keep the car washing stuff on my side because there is more room there.  Ken's car goes right to the other edge.  Anyway there were lawn chairs, a bag of dirt, golf clubs which we NEVER use, and odd and ends stuff.  Now it is tidy and neat.

This afternoon there were a million stink bugs out on the deck when I went to take the clothes in.  I had a fly swatter and went around killing them all!!  I haven't seen any for a while now and was surprised to see so many all of a sudden.

Not leaving for Happy Trails today.  Supposed to be rainy up there and Ken as has to work tomorrow.

I was planning on having tacos for supper tonight but now I'm having a craving for pizza so I'm switching things around.  Out for pizza tonight and tacos tomorrow.  I've already cooked up the ground beef and put it in the refrigerator for tomorrow.
A lot of people think pizza is bad and lots of calories but I think it gets a bad wrap.  Its the stuff you put on it that makes it bad.  We usually get a plain cheese pizza. If we do get toppings it is pepper, onions, roasted garlic or something like that and I always only eat two pieces. Anyway talking about it is making me hungry.  I'm going to go grab a granny smith apple and sit out on the deck and eat it.

Hope all is well with you.
A happy day to you.

She Passed : )

A bit warmer this morning than it has been - up to 59 degrees.  It was foggy when I first started out and I walked around the lake.  The fog cleared up by the time I was half way around it.
The picture is the path that leads away from the lake and called the bunny path.  Oddly enough this morning I didn't even see one rabbit and I usually see lots of them.  I did see two deer though.

Quite a few people out enjoying the early morning, but it was a pretty quiet morning.

I walked 6.3 miles.

Right after breakfast I took my car to have it tested at the Emissions Station.  I had until Oct 10th to go but went early to get it over with.  I don't know why I hate going because it always goes smoothly and I've never had a problem.  There were 4 lines going and I was second in line and my car passed without a problem and I even had a nice friendly young guy test my car.  We talked about Vettes and Camaros, he preferring Camaros over Vettes.  What is he crazy!!! : )  He also likes automatics better!!!  More craziness!  How can you want a sports car and not a stick shift!!  : )

From there I headed on over to the commissary and picked up a few things there.  I made a short list out again of just 20 items so I could go to the express line.  A nice quick trip in and out and then back home.  Put everything away and had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for my lunch.  That is a favorite lunch of mine since I've been a little girl.  Somethings you just never grow out of.

This afternoon I did some shredding.  Ken went through a bunch of old papers which left plenty of shredding for me to do.  I filled up a couple of bags but have left more for another day.

I just got a call from Ken saying he was going to be late tonight.  I'll wait supper for him as I was just going to make meatloaf sandwiches from leftovers anyway.
Now I'm off to get a little reading done.

Hope your day went well and you have a pleasant evening.  I'm already looking forward to my ice cream tonight!!

The Sign is up : )

It was the chillest morning yet with a temperature of 40 degrees.  It had that nice crisp fall feeling in the air.  The sun came up and there was a pretty blue sky for it to shine in - good walking weather.

No special route today - walked paths and roads.  I was walking down one path and there were three workers standing around talking.  Told me that there was a big machine up ahead and the man driving it doesn't look where's he going.  So I thanked them for the warning and said I'd just go up to the road.  So I did and came back down to the path a few blocks over.
We got brand new paths and now they are just clearing things up along them.  They dug up all along the side and put in some kind of cable.
Didn't pass anyone else along the paths but did see a few runners along the road.
I saw two deer who both ran into the woods as soon they saw me.  Sometimes they linger to take a look at me but not these.
As usual I enjoyed being out walking first thing in the morning.  Always a good start to my day.
I walked 6.5 miles.

Rushed around this morning doing a few things and getting ready to leave the house. Made a stop at Target before heading to the Tuesday morning kitting group.

The floor at the mill was refinished and the smell drove us outside for our knitting group.  Even though it was cool out we were in a protected area and the sun was shining so it was perfect for sitting outside knitting.  As usual I enjoyed the knitting time and being  with my knitting friends.  I'm working on a pair of slippers for my friend Mary Jo.

From there I went over to the old house to take the recycling can in and lo and behold look what I saw.  Yes, the For Sale sign!!  : )
Check out the listing HERE.  There are loads of pictures of inside and out.  They really did a good job with them.  I was going to publish a post later this evening, but I'm so excited about having the sign up that I wanted to tell someone. : )

I'm home now for the rest of the day.  I have a few things that I have to get done and then it will be time for a little reading.

Hope your day is happy and bright.

No sign yet

A nice cool crisp morning walk today with a temperature of 46 degrees.  On these cool mornings it always feels good when the sun finally comes up to warm things up a bit.  This is great walking weather and I am enjoying it while it lasts.
I walked around the lake.
Not many people out but it is Monday which is usually a light day.
Lots of rabbits all along the path - I started counting them but there were so many I quite counting.
I saw the heron fly low over the water which always amazes me and I stop to watch.
There is only the frame left from this bench.  We must be getting a new one.
Today I walked 6.4 miles.

I was home during the day just doing stuff around the house.
Spent some time in the kitchen getting supper ready early and so I just had to put it in the oven later on.  I like meals that I can make ahead like that.  It works good too because Ken doesn't have any one time that he gets home from work so it's hard to plan a meal time.

I never did start reading The House at Riverton like I planned this weekend but did start it today.  Just into the first few pages and I already like it. : )

After supper we went over to the old house to see if the For Sale sign was out yet and I was disappointed to see that it wasn't there.  I'll go by tomorrow after knitting to see.
While we were there I raked up some leaves from the back yard and Ken did a little touch up of paint here and there.

Just the usual evening home - a little television and some ice cream.  Not so exciting but nice all the same. : )

Hope you smiled often today. : )

For Sale

It was 47 degrees and sunny this morning when I went for my walk.  Sunday's walk is usually a little shorter than usual because of church so I only walked 5 miles today.  It was a random walk down a couple of roads and paths.  In the picture I'm walking from one path across the street to another path where it continues.
Quite a few people out for a Sunday morning.
I found two pennies.

We met with Terri our realtor at the old house at 2:00 and things went pretty well.  She made a tour of the house and suggested a few little things that we should do.  Replace some switch and outlet plates, a little touch up of paint here and there but nothing major.  She kept saying what a cute house it was.  She suggested a price lower than we thought but we decided to start with our price. Pictures will be taken of the house tomorrow morning and we will have it listed with a sign in the yard by tomorrow evening or Tuesday morning at the latest.  I'm glad it is at least listed and we've taken the first step to get it sold.

After Terri left we made a trip to Lowe's and got the switch and outlet plates and have already replaced them.  Ken is going to do the touch up paint tomorrow after work.

So now we are happy to be at home to have a relaxing evening.  I am certainly ready to sit back, watch a little television and have some ice cream. : )

Hope all is well in your part of the world and that your day was a happy one.

A day at Happy Trails

We ended up having great weather for our day at Happy Trails.  Rain woke us up during the night but it only rained for TWO minutes and then it got windy.  By the time morning arrived the wind dried things out and we just had a day in the 60's with a mixture of sun and clouds.  Perfect weather for us.

I started the day out with a walk as usual.  In this picture I've just walked around one of the cemeteries and this road takes me back to the main road in town.
Still some flowers blooming around town and here's a splash of color in a garden.
I have a good route down now.  Walking down the hill and then into town.  Around the two cemeteries, back to the main road, over to the fire house and then around the base ball field on a paved track.  Along the street a block from the main road.  Back to the main road and then head back toward home.  Ken usually picks me up so I can walk farther without having to turn around and back track.  He gives me an hour and a half to walk before he comes and gets me.
I walked 6 miles.

Nothing major got done because we are waiting for the siding  we ordered to get here, but we cleaned the place up around the tractor barn.  Ken did some final touches here to the back.  Now it's all ready for when the siding arrives.  In order to reach the peak with the ladder he had to put it in the front loader of the tractor.  It is tied from both sides so he's safe up there, though very high up.
We cleared some more of the trail we're making behind the building and just enjoyed being at Happy Trails. : )

We left a little after 5 to come back home.

Tomorrow at 2 we meet the realtor at the old house.  Hopefully this time it will really happen!!

Hope you enjoyed your day.
Pleasant dreams. : )

A good Friday

This morning was a sunny one once the sun rose and it was a cool crisp morning with a temperature of 47 degrees.
I went on a random walk today - no special route.  I walked here and there wherever it looked inviting.  Only saw a couple other walkers.  They must have all been over at the lake. Walked along paths and streets.  Just snapped this picture along the way.  I'm nearing the end of my walk here with about a half mile or so to go.
It was really a very quiet walk and didn't even see any wildlife.  Still it was nice to be outside to see the start of another day.
I walked 6.7 miles.
Sunrise 6:55
Sunset 7:05
********************
I finished reading the book, The Day I Ate Whatever I Wanted by Elizabeth Berg.  When I picked it up I didn't realize that it was a book of short stories which I don't usually like, but I liked these.  I like the way she writes and the next time I go to the library I will pick up another of her books.
The next book on my list to read is The House at Riverton by Kate Morton and I'm bringing it with me up to Happy Trails and hope to start it there.  This is the third and last of her books so far.  I've just learned that she has a new book coming out next month called the Secret Keeper and I'll have to get on the reserved list for it at the library once it comes out.

I got the little bit of stuff that we will be bringing to Happy Trail packed up and ready to go.  The weather report up that way doesn't sound too good for tomorrow - 60 % chance of rain so we might be home earlier tomorrow that we planned.

So now I'm waiting for Ken to get home so we can leave.  The earliest he'll get here is 4:00 so I have a little time yet before we leave.  I still have to put the clean sheets back on the bed.  Guess I'll go do that now.

We will have a late supper once we get up there at Brenda's.  Pizza here we come!!

Hope your Friday is sunny and bright.

A happy day

What a delightful morning out there today for my walk.  It was a chilly 43 degrees, but it was very still and warmed up a bit after the sun came up. This is my favorite kind of weather for walking and I'm never cold once I get to walking.  Well, I shouldn't say never - sometimes when it is in the teens I do get a bit chilly.
I walked around the lake and there was a mist over the water.
I've mentioned before that I often see these black and white ducks hanging around together.  When I see them they are always together.  Thought what a pretty picture they made swimming around the lake this morning.
Down the end of the lake on the footbridge I looked down and saw these two white ducks down below.  I zoomed in a bit to get a better picture.  Except for the white duck with the black one these are the only other two white ducks I've seen at the lake.
I got all the way around the lake and was just thinking that I hadn't seen any deer when six of them walked out of the woods just up in front of me.  As soon as they saw me they all turned around and went back in the woods.

Walking out of the shade and coming into the sun and feeling it shining on me is such a wonderful pleasant feeling.  I just can't help smiling and being thankful for another day. : )

I walked 6.5 miles.
Sunrise 6:54

A day at home today doing a bit of cleaning and this and that around the house.  Many of you know that I hang my laundry outside to dry and don't use my dryer.  I don't have a yard so have to hang them on my deck.  I've taken pictures standing on the deck before of the clothes drying but this time took one from down below standing in the driveway.
Here is a picture of my gramma's desk that I moved into our bedroom a little while ago.  The wall above looked a little bare so I hung the pretty oil painting above the desk.  The painting is a gift that Kathy my SIL gave us when we moved into the first house we bought in 1980.  I've always loved the painting.  I'd love to go take a walk down the road in it.
The picture on the desk is my gramma, a sweet lady who was gentle, kind and a wonderful grandmother (dad's mom.) : )
These two paintings are paint by numbers that I painted when we first got married in 1972.  Didn't have much money back then so painted these so we'd have something to hang on the walls.  I can't believe I still have them.  I hung them up in the little bathroom upstairs.  The one on the right has a sign in the bag she's carrying that says 'cookies.'  : )
After supper we went to LL Bean and I got a pair of jeans.  I got a pair there because they are thick and are flannel lined and thought they would be good work pants up at Happy Trails when the weather turns colder.  With a pair of tights underneath, I should stay nice and warm.  The smallest size they had was a 6 so they are a bit big and they make me look like I've gained about ten pounds but they will be good for working in.  It feels weird having pants that go to my waist instead of the low rise.  Feels like they are under my armpits like old men wear. : )

From there we stopped at the old house and loaded up the truck of stuff to take up to Happy Trails tomorrow.  We had to cancel the appointment with the realtor for tomorrow afternoon because Ken has to be at work and just can't take off tomorrow.  We will leave tomorrow for Happy Trails after Ken gets home from work so we'll be getting there in the dark but will have the whole day there Saturday.

When I said we loaded up the truck I should have said Ken did because I walked over to my friend Lin's house and visited with her.  She is the friend who calls me in the mornings when she's in town while I'm walking and we talk and walk for a mile or two.  It was nice to talk to her in person for a change. : )
She made me laugh because when I walked over to her house she was sitting on her deck looking in the window of her house.  I laughed and asked her what she was doing.  She said watching television from outside because it was too nice to be inside.  Don't you just have to love a friend like that!? : )

We stopped at the store on the way home to get in a new supply of ice cream.  It was on sale so we picked up a few extra.
I just finished eating some chocolate chip.  Taking a break from television to write this post.  Off I go now to finish watching the second episode of Lilies.

Hope you had sunshiny day and if you think you didn't, count your blessings and you will see that you did indeed have a good day. : )

What a blue sky!!

Back to nice walking mornings already.  A cool 57 degrees.  It was cloudy at first but not for long.  A nice sunny morning walk. Walked part way around the lake and then took the path leading up to the road.  I was going to walk back home that way but once I got to the road and saw all the cars I turned around and walked down by the lake.

I spotted a deer and lots of rabbits.  Quite a few geese were flying away from the lake in their well known V formation.  You can barely see some of them in the above picture.

An average amount of people around the lake for the middle of the week.
I walked 6.4 miles.
Sunrise 6:53
Sunset 7:09
*********************
I didn't need that much but made a list up and went to the commissary.  I made one up of only 20 items so I could go on the express line.
I drove to the base the back way and it was 13.8 miles.  Coming home I took the highway and it was 16.6 miles.  The back way is a nicer ride and that is the way I usually go.  The highway of course is faster even though longer.
Walking back to my car with my groceries I just had a thought that as I am walking here everyone I know is doing something at this exact moment.  Sometimes I stop and just wonder what that something is.  Does any one else wonder that or am I just strange!?

This afternoon after taking the clothes off the line I just put them in the kitchen and didn't bother to fold them right away.  I had a few things to do around the house, but I took a granny smith apple out of the refrigerator, picked up my book and went back outside on the deck and read for an hour.  It was a beautiful day to be outside and I just wanted to spend a bit of time out there.  I took this picture from the deck.
Then I came back inside and did the things I had to do.

Ken had to work a little later than usual but he's home now and we are about to start watching a new television series from Netflix.  It's another British show called Lillies.

No ice cream tonight - I will be having four of my chocolate chippers.

I hope you got to enjoy a beautiful day. : )

Cancelled

Well, those perfect mornings had to end sometime, but they'll be back.  It had rained over night but by morning the rain had stopped and it was just cloudy when I left for my walk.  The temperature was a muggy 68 degrees and it felt like it would rain at any moment.  I didn't take my umbrella because I just didn't feel like carrying it around.
I walked around the lake once again.  Very quiet with only a handful of people about.  Rabbits and geese were around but I didn't see any deer.

About two miles from home a light rain started and it rained until I got home.  It was very light so I didn't get soaked but just damp.  I didn't mind not having my umbrella because the rain made things a bit cooler.
It was actually a very nice walk in spite of the weather. : )
I walked 6.4 miles.

It was knitting day but I didn't go.  I ended up staying home and reading and read until I finished my book, The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.  I thought the book was excellent.  Instead of writing what it is about I just took a picture of the back cover.
Except for things that HAD to be done that's all I did during the day.  It was rained on and off all day so I picked a good day to sit and read. : )

Ken was on the way home to pick me up so we could meet the realtor when she called him and cancelled the meeting for day.  We were disappointed but what can you do.  We rescheduled and will meet her on Friday instead.  Oh well, we've waited this long, what's another few days.

So we just stayed home, and had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for supper.
It is still raining on and off so we're spending a quiet evening at home.  We will watch another episode of Once Upon a Time and have our ice cream in a little while.  I'm really liking Once Upon a Time!!

Hope all went well for you today and you smiled often. : )

Lots of step today

These gorgeous mornings for walking just keep coming day after day.  Another great one - 47 degrees and sunny and a nice blue sky.  It isn't dark when I leave but the sun isn't up yet either.  The sun comes up about 15 minutes after I start walking.  I should be getting some really pretty sunrises over at the lake very soon now.
Walked around the lake this morning and there was some mist over the water.
When I got down to the other end of the lake the sun was shining as I walked over the footbridge down there.  The sun shining on the tree caught my attention.
I counted 10 deer around the lake this morning and there were a lot of geese around too.  Squirrels, rabbits, and the chirping birds were around as well.
People were scarce and it was a nice quiet walk.  Very peaceful and like always a great way to the start of my day. : )
I found two pennies and walked 6.5 miles.

Ate a quick breakfast, did a few things around the house and left for the old house.  Finished cleaning the kitchen and now there are just two more windows that have to be washed.  My friend Mary Jo came over to the house and we walked over to the Ram's Head at the mill and had lunch.  It was a great break from working and we enjoyed our lunch together.  : )

Walked back, Mary Jo left for home and I continued work but this time stayed outside.  I got the back yard mowed and bagged up four more bags of old leaves that have been sitting along the fence on the driveway since last year!!  Things look neat and tidy now.

While I was working Dave, a neighbor drove by and stopped to talk for a while with me.  He asked if he could have the leaves I bagged up for his compost heap and I told him yes.  He came back with his truck and I helped him load them in his truck.
Not long after, I left for home just as it started clouding up.  I really had perfect weather for yard work!!

As promised here are some picture of the old house.

Finally we feel the house is ready to sell and we are meeting with a realtor tomorrow afternoon to list the house.  Please say a prayer that the house sells quickly! : ) Thanks.

Got home late afternoon and before long Ken was home from work.  We went out to the mall, didn't buy anything, but ate at Chevy's and then walked around the mall.  Home now and it's almost time for a little television and ice cream.

With walking, walking to the mill, mowing the lawn, and walking around the mall I put in a lot of steps today.  So far I've today I've taken 22,904!!  I'll probably make it to at least 23,000 by the time I hop in bed tonight.

Hope you had a great Monday and you smiled often. : )

A nice relaxing day

A gorgeous morning - 58 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze.  I walked down the road turned right and walked to the little wet land park and walked around the little pond there.
A heron was standing at the edge and I saw a deer.  A couple were walking their three dogs around the pond.  They were the only people I saw there.
This is a footbridge down at one end of the pond that I walked over.
On the way home instead of going back the same way I took this road here which I figured would come out on the main road I walked on, just farther up the road.
It was a nice road to walk along rustling through the fallen leaves and looking at all the pretty houses and yards.  It was pretty hilly and I went up and down quite a few hills.  I was just beginning to think that maybe this road wasn't going to come out where I thought it would and then up ahead there was the road. : )  From there I just walked the rest of the way home the way I had come.

My little detour was a little farther than I had anticipated and I ended up walking 7.3 miles.

I've had a nice relaxing day around the house.  Only did the basic house stuff.  I read for a while and just puttered about.
Hope all went well with your day.

A foggy morning at the lake

It was 52 degrees this morning when I started out on my walk.  It was a little cloudy and when I looked in the direction of the lake saw fog.  Once I got to the lake it looked like this.
I walked around the lake in the opposite direction I usually take.  Very quiet by the lake and only saw a few people.  Geese and rabbits were about and I saw the white egret again.
As I walked around the lake the sun tried to break through the fog.
It finally did and by the time I was home the sun was shining in a bright blue sky.
I walked 6.4 miles.

Just time for a quick breakfast this morning - I had cocoa puffs. : )  and then walked down the street to church.  Helped set up for a luncheon for tomorrow.  We set up tables and chairs and then set the table and got some fall decorations set out.  I would have taken a picture but it was a rare time that I left my camera at home.  I brought along some chocolate chip cookies for the workers. : )

I took a little walk on the way home - not far just turned the two block walk into three quarters of a mile.  I didn't find any coins on my morning walk but on the way home I found a dime.

I took some calico curtains down at the old house the other day and today I put them up in the kitchen here at home.  I think these red calico curtains look more cheery then the maroon plaid ones.
Cleaning out a closet the other day I came across a box that had my old collection of Blue Wedgewood that I collected many years ago when we lived in Scotland.  These pieces have been packed away for years and I've been meaning to sell them for a very long time.  Now I'm glad that I never did because I really think they are pretty.  I've set them out here in the corner of the kitchen.
We aren't going up to Happy Trails this week.  Ken had to be at work today.  So we will spend the evening here at home.  Just got finished with the supper dishes.  I'll read for a while before watching more of Once Upon a Time and eating ice cream.  I think tonight I'll go back to the chocolate chip mint.

Hope your day was happy and your night is peaceful.

A fine and dandy day.

49 degrees this morning and the air was crisp cool and sunny.  These kind of mornings are just perfect and I hope they just continue on and on. : )

I walked my circle route which is mainly on the streets and just walk down one path.  A few runners were out and that was about it except for the kids waiting at school bus stops.  Oh, and I did see one girl riding her bike to school.

Birds were the only wildlife I saw.

My friend Lin is in town and called while I was walking.  She walks too and so we talked and walked for a couple of miles. : )
Petey and John were out for their morning walk as well, and I stopped along the path for a little chat with them too.

I got near home and didn't feel like ending my walk just yet so I walked around my neighborhood for a little bit and ended up walking 7.2 miles.
What a glorious morning and a great start to my day. : )

Have to take advantage of these great days so got some more laundry done and hung up on the line.  I'm washing my curtains and they smell so nice after drying outside!!

I found sometime to wash my car today and now she is sparkly clean again.
It was garbage day and the big green garbage can was sitting out there empty and not smelling so good, so I gave the garbage can a wash too.  I just poured some car wash soap in the can, put the full force of the hose on and swished it about.
I also swept the garage out while both cars were out of the garage.  Such a pretty day outside I didn't feel like going back inside to iron and clean the bathroom sinks but I eventually did.

We thought it was a good night to go out for pizza since we had to do a few errands anyway one of which was to buy batteries.  Both my mouse and keyboard needed new batteries.  I was getting the critical low warning.  I never replace them at the first warning because I can go days on them yet.

I'm so looking forward to my ice cream later.  A new Edy's flavor for me called Double Fudge Brownie.

We've been watching the first season of Once Upon a Time and really like it.  Disc two came in the mail today so we will be watching that later too.  A nice relaxing evening.

Hope you had a good day and it was filled with sunshine.

Another great weather day. : )

Another one of those perfect weather walking mornings.  My thermometer just needed a new battery so it's working again.  This morning it read 47 degrees.  Made my way over to the lake again and just like yesterday there was a mist over the water.
The sun came up and it was bright and sunny.  I usually walk down there on the path near the water but today went up the hill to take this picture.
I saw the white egret again on the top of the tree and then later saw number two down by the water.  Four deer were on the bunny trail path as well as all the rabbits.
Quite a few people around the lake enjoying the start of the day.
I found a lucky penny.
Walked 6.9 miles.

I haven't made pancakes for breakfast in a while because we haven't been home on the weekends and I was really in the mood for one this morning so I made myself some.  Here's my pancake in the middle of a ring of strawberries.  A little syrup and I was eating a delicious breakfast. : )
I finally finished getting the dressers moved around, cleaned out and organized this morning.  A couple of loads of laundry got hung outside and now I have five of Ken's shirts to iron.  I'll get to that tomorrow.

We had a quick supper when Ken got home from work and then we headed over to the old house.  Did about an hours worth of work.  I got the book shelves cleaned and a two more windows cleaned.  Ken replaced some outlets.  One or two more times there and we will be done.  : )  Didn't take pictures again but I'll get around to it one of these times.

Now I'm off for my chocolate chip ice cream.  :)

Hope your day was a good one and you smiled often.

Perfect Weather

I walked around the lake again this morning and the topic of the morning was the perfect walking weather.  My thermometer isn't working today but the radio said it was 49 degrees.  It was nice and cool and sunny with that crisp feel to it.  I wore my shorts, tights, a long sleeve tee shirt and a sweat shirt and of course a ball cap.  I like wearing my sweat shirt because it has pockets.  One for my camera and one for my phone and my Striiv is clipped to my shorts.  I'm still loving my Striiv and for those of you who have them, I've just purchased Turtle Island and I'm working on growing two grandmother trees to open it up. I've already grown one of them. : )
There was a mist over the water this morning, which means I guess that the water is warmer than the air.  Anyway I liked the look of it.
I counted six deer out around the lake and got a picture of one of them just as he crossed over the path.
Lots of rabbits out again and I saw the white egret perched at the tippy top of a tree.
The usual amount of people out this morning.
The weather made my morning walk extra special.
I walked 6.4 miles.
Someone lost a lucky penny and I found it. : )

Got a load of laundry hung out on the line, had a piece of toast for breakfast and then headed out to the mill for a morning of knitting.  Ten of us there today and I made a few weave-it squares.

I parked in the driveway of our old house and walked there because after knitting I did a bit more cleaning of the old house.  The inside is nearly done.  I just have to wipe down a couple more kitchen cabinets and dust the wall lined bookcases.  Then we just have to tidy up the yard and it should be ready for sale.  Probably next week sometime.   Didn't take any pictures of the house today but will next time I go over there.

I didn't get home until two so had a late lunch and then got some things done around the house.

After supper we went out to do a few errands.  Ken didn't get to order the siding for the tractor barn yesterday so we did that today.  Also stopped at Safeway and restocked our ice cream supply.  Later I'm going to have some chocolate chip mint.  I've been having plan old chocolate and vanilla for a while now.

The weather was just beautiful all day long.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Happy Trails Update

I walked around the lake on this cool, delightful sunny morning.  Such a pretty morning and it was great being out to see the day start. : )  No walking pictures today but yesterday as I was walking a big bird swooped down along the path and up into a tree.  I was wondering what it could have been when I spotted it perched on a limb.  An Owl.  Picture not that great but I was happy to get it. : )
Since school started last week there are less people around the lake which makes it even nicer.  More traffic along the roads though.

More of the geese have come back but still not as many as there used to be.  There have always been too many around so it's nice now to have the numbers more reasonable.
Spotted lots of rabbits and six deer.
The whole week is supposed to be sunny and cool so I have some great weather for walking this week!!

I walked 6.5 miles.
Found 3 lucky pennies.

We've been up at Happy Trails the last two weekends and progress on the tractor barn is coming along nicely.
One weekend ALL the shingles were completed all the way around and the side window got put in.  Ken has just finished it here and is on the way down the ladder.
This past weekend the barn floor got put in.  We put in a laminated wood floor because it was the cheapest floor and will be very easy to sweep and keep clean.
Half got done one day.
The next day it was completed.
We've also been busy clearing the way for a couple of trails.  This one starts at the back of the tractor barn and that's where I'm standing taking this picture.
Farther along around the curve.
This is as far as we've gotten so far.
This trail here is coming off the driveway and just before the clearing for the barn and trailer.  At the end of this trail and to the left is where the trailer is.
This is the area we've been clearing near the trailer and is at the end of the trail in the preceding photo. The cleared trail is to the left here.
The next thing to happen on the tractor barn is for the siding to be put on.  In fact Kenny is going to Lowe's after work today to order it.  We really want to get that finished before winter and we hope we have enough time.

Today I've been busy around the house doing laundry, baking some bread and doing a bit of cleaning.

Took a break from house work to go to the bank and post office.  Such a pretty day for a drive.

Now I'm in the middle of moving a couple of dressers around upstairs and moving my gramma's old oak desk into my bedroom.  I'm also going through the dressers and throwing some things out and reorganizing whats left.

Just thought I'd take another break from work and start blogging again.
It was nice having a break from blogging
but its nice to be back again. : )
So off I go back upstairs to do more work.  I probably won't get it all done, but there is always tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
