Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking my old route

My walk this morning was different than usual.  Ken planned on going to Lowe's first thing in the morning while I walked, to get some lumber to build the ladder/stairs and trap door for the tractor barn.  Then he would go to the old house to build them.  So I had him drop me off at Lake Elkhorn and then walked to the old house and met him there.  He dropped me off here at the path at the far end of the Lake.
I walked half way around the lake.  It was nice to see a different lake for a change.
At the end of the lake I walked under a road here
and continued on the the paved path leading to my old house.
I saw many people out walking, biking, running and pushing babies in strollers.  It was such a beautiful sunny day and I didn't start walking until 8:00 so I think that is why so many people were about.  The only wildlife I saw were birds but they were singing and chirping for us all.
This bridge where I'm coming up to here is where I used to turn around when I used to walk this route before we moved.  I didn't walk all the way to Lake Elkhorn because it would have been too far for every day.  The bridge is about 3 miles from my old house.
This is Pratt Bridge which I crossed over
and then the path becomes gravel.
All of these paths I walked along follow the river.
I cross a street and then the path becomes paved again.
The end of the path comes out by a little park where there were LOTS of kids playing baseball.  Cars, kids, people all over the place!!!
I walked down the road here which is about 1/2 mile from the house.
I walked 6.4 miles by the time I made it to the house.  It was nice walking my old route.  I saw one runner who I used to see all the time.  He said, "Nice to see you. It's been a while."  Told him I moved but I'm still walking.  :-)

Ken had unloaded the wood from the truck when I arrived at the house and was just about to start work.
I changed from my walking clothes into my work clothes and mowed the front and back lawn, did some weeding and raking.
I left my pedometer on and put another 3 miles on it doing the yard work.

We ate a late lunch at Subway at 2:40 once we were done working for the day.

Home resting now and in just a few minutes we are off to the library and out to eat.
It's been a busy day!

Hope your day was filled with sunshine.

I'm smiling to see the photos of your former walks. It's just amazing all the paths that are provided for bikers and walkers in your corner. We have nothing like it here in my town. Nothing like going on a long walk and to top it with another three miles of yard work. Hope that you have a relaxing evening as well.
