Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A cooler morning

Though it was 70 degrees again this morning, the humidity was a lot lower and it was quite pleasant walking today. The sun was out and every once in a while a nice breeze would come along.  I was still hot by the time I got home, but a feel good exercise hot.
I've mentioned before that I walk through the Giant parking lot on the way to the lake.  This morning the parking lot was getting a fresh coat of paint on all the parking lines.  I wonder how long the paint takes to dry.  So far no one had driven though any of the paint.
I walked around the lake and saw quite a few people who I haven't seen in a while and  all the regulars like me who are always out there walking!
A deer jumped across the path in front of me on the way to the lake and around the lake I saw the usual geese, ducks and rabbits.  I haven't seen the white egret or the heron for quite a while now.  Hope they come back soon!!
I see strange people and things at times when I walk and today I saw something I haven't seen before.  A man flossing his teeth as he walked along!!

Tomorrow morning is supposed to be even cooler and I'm already looking forward to my walk.
Today I walked 6.2 miles.
Sunrise 6:15
Sunset 8:10

Ken has a cabinet in the kitchen where he puts his keys, work stuff, and other things when he comes home.  Yesterday I put the book I bought for him in there with a little note so he would see it when he put his stuff away.  He was pleasantly surprised to see it there which made me smile too. : )  I got a nice hug and a kiss too!!
Ken built the cabinet quite a few years ago.
We are getting pretty low on food in the pantry so it was time to make a trip to the commissary.  The FJ was parked in front of the garage by my car so I went in that vehicle today.
Renovations are still being done but they are now all the way at the other end of the store so I think the next time I go there it will all be finished.  The part that is finished is very nice.  They have been putting in all the standing up refrigerator shelves with see through doors, like in regular grocery stores.
A bit of a line to wait on but it moved fast and it wasn't a problem.  For once they were using almost ALL of the checkouts!

Driving home I was stopped for a red light in the left lane and there was a guy standing there with a sign looking for a handout.  I don't even read the signs anymore because I don't believe them anyway.  Well he must have gotten annoyed with me when I shook my head no because he then stepped up to the car and held the sign right up against the window.  I held my hand on the horn and he backed off.  I was glad the light changed and off I went!!!

I put everything away when I got home and then had lunch.  I usually eat lunch on the late side around 1:30.   I like to eat lunch late because it cuts down on the time between lunch and supper which is a hard time for me not to eat anything!!
Haven't decided what I feel like doing with the rest of the afternoon.

So that's been my day so far.
Till next time..........
A smile from me to you.

Which commissary do you use? When my Mom was alive, she didn't drive, I had to take her to the commissary. We would go to Ft. Meade or Andrews AFB. This weather sure is a welcome relief. This is my kind of walking weather!

I also ignore those standing on the side of the road.

Maybe there are some legit folks who need help, but guys like the one you met mess it up for everyone else. I have never given handouts to road side beggers. But I do believe in contributing to organizations who support the homeless. Being homeless must be the worst. I just can't imagine.

I ignore the roadside signs as well. There are places where people with real needs can get help.
I'm glad the cooler weather finally reached you.

Here in the uk we also have a problem with people asking for money, the way i deal with it is i go and actually buy a cup of tea and a sandwich for the person sometimes they are very grateful and you know that the person is really having a hard time, and sometimes they look at you in disgust they only want money.
Thank you for the nice comments about my days.

Strange place to be flossing one's teeth, but perhaps he was pressed for time and a bit of multitasking was in order.
So sweet how you surprised Ken with the book. I really like the cabinet he made.
I try to avoid eye contact with the roadside beggars. This one you encountered sounds a bit aggressive. Glad you got out of there quickly.
