Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another hot and humid walk

The humid air hit me right away when I walked out the door this morning.  Temperature was 70 degrees but the air was thick and it was cloudy.  Very still without a hint of a breeze.
I walked one of my connect the path routes.  Didn't see very many people, just a few walking dogs.  A couple people were riding bikes.  At least they get a nice breeze as they peddled along. : )
Walking through the woods on the path I heard lots of cicadas but not enough to drown out all the birds this time.  I saw a few Gold Finches.  They are tiny and fast and I couldn't get a good picture of them.  A few rabbits were about too.
Here is a playground along one of the paths I walk.  Once in a while I stop and take a swing on the swing.  It's too early in the morning when I pass by for any kids to playing there.
One thing I don't like about walking along the paths is when I walk through spider webs.  Especially when I'm sweating because they stick to me and it's hard to wipe them off.  I'm just glad that so far the webs I've walked through didn't have a spiders in them. : )

A nice quiet walk today.  Nothing unusual.
I walked 6.1 miles.

I missed my knitting group last week because of a hair appointment so and it was nice to meet with the knitters again.  There were a few people there who I haven't met before.  I made a couple of weave-its and knitted on a white afghan/bedspread square.
It was a bit warm but cloudy, then we felt a few drops of rain but that was all and then there was a cooling breeze so it was nice sitting outside.

I left there and before going home I stopped at the book store to pick up a book for Ken that wasn't in the library - A Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins.  Just a little surprise for him. : )  I'm reading the second one called A Walk West.

So now I'm home not doing too much of anything.  I find once I've been out for a good part of the day, when I get home I'm not in the mood to do any work.  So I'm just going to enjoy the rest of the afternoon by reading.

A happy day to each of you.
Happyone : )

I enjoyed both of those Peter Jenkins books so much.
I like the new look of your blog.

Hopefully cooler weather is on the way. It was a little cooler here today.

Interesting quote and a little scary. The humidity sounds nasty. Ugh. I am glad that you had some cooling breezes while at your knitting group. I've heard good things about that book and author. If I see it...

Hope this heat is soon over for all of us. I am so ready for fall. Sounds like you had a good day. Love that quote.
Hugs,
Betsy

I noticed how humid it was here this morning, too. I can walk in the heat, but when it's so humid and icky out I find it really hard. Not much stops you, though! :)

Spider webs and sweat are definitely not a good combination.
Nice of you to buy the book for Ken. Does he like to read as much as you do?

Please go by the pool again, soon. To see how it is coming along. And before they hide it, behind a fence. :-) Which I figure they will do, since it's easily visible.

Plus, do you have to fence in a pool, in your area? We do here.
