Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The past couple of days

I did finish another puzzle on Wednesday. A kitchen which I love!!
We never made it to the Sunset Serenade Wednesday night. Jackie and Kerry came over and we walked to LeeLynn's and had dinner outside on the patio. It's a good thing it was a covered patio because it started to rain and that's why there was no concert for us. We did have a great time over dinner though. We ended up staying there for 3 hours, just hanging out and talking.
We made plans to try for the concert again next week. Hopefully we'll have better luck with the weather.

Yesterday I started yet another puzzle but didn't get very far along with it. Cheryl called and we spent the day together. I met her at her hair salon and we hung out while she got her hair colored and eyebrows waxed. Then we hopped in my car and went for lunch and stopped in at Walmart (needed more yarn for my ripple afghan). Cheryl's sister Lisa works in a medical lab and has just moved into a brand new building so we stopped in to say hi to her and check out the new building. After a few wrong turns we finally found the right building and found her on the 4th floor in her lab. Lisa was kind enough to give us a tour. She works with some real impressive machinery. It was fascinating to see!!!
I then dropped Cheryl off by her car and drove back home.

Not long after Ken came home from work and we went over to Debbi's house. She is getting a new stove and dish washer today and needed some electrical work done before they were delivered so Ken did the job for her.

I met Ken and the woman and her grown daughter at the old house earlier today who were thinking about renting our house. I went over early and aired it out a bit and turned on the AC. I then baked some chocolate chip cookies. By the time they got there the cookies were cooling on the racks and smelled delicious. All three of them ate cookies. I didn't eat any cookies but I did eat cookie dough! :-)
Any way they looked all over the house and said they really liked it. Thought it had a lot of character and liked the yard, but they said it was just too small for the two of them. Oh well, we were not really sure we wanted to rent it out anyway.

So now I'm home and in a little while I'll go and finish the jigsaw puzzle I started yesterday. If not today then tomorrow.

Its been hot and muggy the last few days but I walked every morning anyway. I've actually seen more people than usual out there. I think more people are going in the morning because it is the coolest its going to be. The sun was out earlier today and now the rain is coming down in buckets. I'm sure the sun will be out again soon.

I hope your Friday is a happy day for you. Do a kind deed for someone. It will make YOU happy.
Happyone :-)

Yet another one!!

Started my day as usual with my walk and I went on my connect a route this morning and another hot sticky morning it was. Even the wildlife was quiet today.

There are three puzzles in this one box.
They are not mixed together, just three separate puzzles in the same box.
Yesterday's puzzle was the bathroom.
I love this bathroom.
I've also started on the second puzzle in the box - today I'm doing the kitchen.

When I can tear myself away from the puzzle I have the bathrooms to clean today.

Friends Jackie and Kerri are coming over at 5:30. We are walking up the street to eat at LeeLynn's and then going over to the park by the lake (the same one I walk around) to listen to the Sunset Serenade tonight. They have one every Wednesday during the summer and we have never been there before. I don't even know what kind of music we will be listening too.
Ken and I would like to walk over but our friends will want to drive. I think the two of us will walk home. :-)

I hope your Wednesday so far is a good one and continues to be so.
Have a Happy.
Happyone :-)

More puzzles

Sunday we did another jigsaw puzzle. This one was only 500 pieces so we got it done in no time at all.
We've done this one a few times already.

I'm going to start another one later today! It seems once I do one puzzle I end up doing a whole bunch of them. Then I get sick of them and don't do another one for ages, sometimes years. It does seem strange doing them in the summer though, it's usually a winter thing to do.

Except for my walk yesterday I stayed home the whole day and got some much needed cleaning done. It was the first day back to work for Ken after being off for two weeks so I had a lot to do. I'll continue with my cleaning of the upstairs today so it will be another day at home.

Our daughter Debbi, came over the house yesterday at supper time and we went across the street and got some Chinese take away for supper. We had a nice visit and ended up sitting out on the deck until about 8:00 when she went home.

It was already hot and sticky this morning at 6:30 when I left on my walk. I took this picture this morning walking around the lake. It looks like there was a fight here with all these feathers on the ground.

Well off I go to get started on that cleaning, but first I'm going to go and find the next puzzle to do. :-)

Enjoy your Tuesday.
Happyone :-)

A new walking route "The Pond."

Yesterday I walked around a new neighborhood that I haven't walk before. Today I went back to that same neighborhood and found a pond to walk around. Here is my walk in pictures and a few words.
I walked straight down the road where I live.
Passed up the one entrance path that I usually take to walk to the lake and passed up the second entrance too. Took this picture of a new skate park in the distance that was built not too long ago and where my grandson Antonio likes to skate.
Turned in here and kept to the left.
Kept walking down the road
until I came to here to the start of the path around the pond.
It is 2 1/2 miles from my door to here. The path around the pond is one mile. This entire surface of this little pond by the beginning of the path to the pond as you can see is covered in algae. I heard a few frogs croaking.
These next pictures I took walking on the path to and around the pond.
This last picture is at the completion of the path around the pond.
I walked back home again for a 6 mile walk. It took me 1 hour and 34 minutes and I took 12,462 steps. Since it was early Sunday morning, I had the whole walk around the pond to myself. It was such a great place to walk and one that I plan to walk many times. :-) I'll call this route "The Pond". I feel so lucky to have so many great places to walk. Happyone :-)

A verse for Sunday, a puzzle and basil

2 Corinthians 8:6
But remember this - if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much, he will reap much.
I didn't post anything last night because we finished the puzzle at 11:30 and was too lazy to post anything!
Here's the finished picture. :-)
The sweet basil that I planted a few weeks ago is doing great.
I have to thin it out and will plant some of them in a another pot. We will be making pizza for supper this evening and some of the basil will a topping on it. Enjoy your Sunday. I'll be back later in the day with a post about another new walking route.

A foggy morning today as I walked around the lake. But by the time I got back home the sun was shining.
If you enlarge the picture you will be able to see a couple
of geese on the water.

This beautiful butterfly posed for me on the sidewalk as I passed by.
I thought of you Carla when I saw it. :-)

I made us pancakes for breakfast today and then we went over AGAIN to the old house. Everything that we want is OUT of the house. We had no intention of renting out the house but we are considering it now. Some one who Ken works with is looking for a house to rent in Dec for at least a year. She loves the area and likes to garden. So we shall see. It would be nice to get some income from it while waiting for the house prices to go up some more.

Still working on the car puzzle. Here's what we have done so far.

I downloaded my third and last audio book that my daughter gave me for Mother's Day. This time I got Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I've read it a few times and thought it would be nice to listen to it too. :-)
I'm still reading Pillars of the Earth and I'm not even half done with it yet. It's very good but I just haven't spent much time reading lately. I'll probably have to renew it.

Remember me telling you about the nail in my tire? Here it is! I didn't know Ken took a picture of it until today.
Hope you all had a happy Friday. This is Ken's last day of vacation - at least he still has the weekend.
Till next time......
Happyone :-)

A new walk

Walked my six miles today but didn't walk on any of my regular routes. We drive down a road and there is a crooked fence that I like and always want to take a picture of it, so today I walked along that road and took a picture. Which I've posted on my photo blog.
I passed the fence and kept walking down the road, turned down another road which came to a dead end where this drainage pond was. There was a heron and it took off flying as I got there. If you enlarge the photo and look close you just might see it. Its off center to the left.
I walked down this little path.
Walked over this little bridge.
And came out on a road which lead to this bridge.
I then hit a main road again, walked down to the school through the path and headed back home.
I came across this tree that looks as though a beaver got at it. Someone put this cardboard box around another tree the beaver started on. Do they really think that something that can gnaw a tree will let a bit of cardboard stop them?
I was adding up my calories from yesterday and went on line and found out that the salad I love at Mimi's Cafe, the balsamic chicken and pistachio salad is 743 calories!!!!!! I guess I won't be eating that anymore! The blackened chicken Caesar salad is 341. That is good too so I will get that next time.

Did some more of the car puzzle and its coming along nicely. I ended up taking it off the black cloth. It just wasn't laying right and it was hard to get the pieces to stay put. I'll take a picture and post it tomorrow to show you how much is done.

I hope you all had a happy Thursday.
Happyone :-)

Walked my usual

six miles along the connect the route path. Lots of bunnies and deer out early this morning. This deer just stood there as a I walked by. The trees along one of the roads I cross were getting a good trim. One man was sitting in the truck, one man was cutting the trees, one man feeding the cut branches into the chipper, and 6 others were standing around. Six supervisors seem a bit much don't you think!?

Ken went over to the old house to throw away some more junk while I stayed home. I was going to start house cleaning. The only thing I did was a load of laundry. I worked on the car jigsaw puzzle for most of the morning after breakfast which I ate at 9:00.

In the afternoon we stopped in at the dentist to make appointments for the semi annual teeth cleaning. I used to really hate going to the dentist but I don't any more. Its nothing like it used to be!

Watched a Netflix selection of In Treatment and then since that is such a depressing show we watched an episode of Seinfeld as well. :-)

No ice cream tonight. We went to Mimi's Cafe for dinner and I saved my muffin for my snack tonight - a delicious blueberry muffin!!

Did a little reading and knitting too.
Now it's time for more reading before bed.
Hope your Wednesday was filled with sunshine.
Happyone :-)

Starting a jigsaw puzzle

I walked my connect a route this morning and was glad to see the deer again. I saw one standing smack in the middle of a garden in a back yard. Those people will not be happy!

Ken made me another clothes line for the deck. Now I have three which is plenty for two large loads of clothes. Now I won't have to wait for a load to dry before hanging out another. Thanks Kenny! :-)

We started a jigsaw puzzle of a pile of cars we bought while we were on holiday. Its 1000 pieces and it came with a black cloth to put the puzzle on so you can roll it up and move it off the table. I will just leave it on the table though until its done. It shouldn't take all that long. I think I'm going to glue it together when its done and hang it up either downstairs or in the garage.

During the day I did a little knitting on the ripple afghan and also on a white square.

We went out for pizza for supper and when we got back home I sat out on the deck while Ken washed his car.
Took this picture off my deck. Someone was getting rain but it wasn't us. I could hear thunder.

Watched a couple episodes of Seinfeld while eating ice cream and now I'm going to read for a while.

I hope you had a happy Tuesday.
Happyone :-)

A rocky bank

I walked around my lake today. On the path that leads to the lake that runs along a stream there was a tree that came up by its roots. It fell across the stream and took a part of the bank along with it. It worked like a dam and collected all the sticks floating on down. While I was gone the tree was removed, the bank fixed up and stones were put along the bank. Some of the debris is still there awaiting some more rain to wash it down stream.
Oddly I didn't see any deer this morning but I did see a cute little chipmunk. I usually see chipmunks running across the path, but today was the first time I saw one running up a tree. I never would have thought they would go up a tree!!

Ken took my wheel off the car and we took it to Mr Tire to have the tire patched. We didn't take the car because we didn't want to have to leave it. This way they just have the tire. It was just a small hole so they were able to patch it. It only cost $30 which is a whole lot better than buying a new tire at $260!! I'm almost afraid to drive around my house now. I'm still picking up nails. Our neighbor across from us has already gotten TWO flat tires!

I finally got a little reading done and some knitting too.
Still catching up on some blogs.
Hope your Monday was a happy kind of day.
Happyone :-)

A ride

You're not going to believe this, but after all the driving we did this past week, we got in the car and went for a ride this afternoon. We headed out towards Annapolis and were going to go to a park but for some reason the police had it blocked and we couldn't get in.
We stopped in at MacDonald's and got an ice cream cone. We spread out a blanket in the shade on the grass and sat down and ate it right there. It was an ice cream picnic. :-)

Tonight we watched an episode of A Touch of Frost and yes I had more ice cream. This time my favorite chocolate chip.

I forgot to mention that while we were driving in Maine we saw a porcupine crossing the street on a back road. We stopped and turned around but by that time it had crossed the street and was headed back into the woods. I took a picture but it blended in so well in the woods that you couldn't even see it. That was the first time that I had ever seen a porcupine in real life!!
One thing I was hoping to see was a moose but we never did - only all those painted ones. :-)
Funny thing is I see more deer and wildlife right here on my walk than I did being out in the country and I live between two big cities!!

I am now off to read some blogs before I go to bed.
Good night all!
Happyone :-)

Home again

We got home yesterday around 6:00. It was great to be away on vacation but it's always nice to come home again. :-)

I brought Pillars of the Earth to read and two different knitting projects with me this past week and I never even picked up the book or did any knitting. I don't know why I brother bringing stuff to do because I never have the time to do it. :-) I guess it's good to have it along just in case!!

I got back to my usual walk this morning and walked 6 miles on the paths around the neighborhoods.
I have laundry hanging on the line this morning and we had our usual Sunday morning pancake breakfast. Don't know yet what we'll do this afternoon.
I do know that I have lots of blog reading to catch up on. It may take a while because blogger reader is telling me I have 120 posts to read!!!

Enjoy your Sunday.
Happyone :-)

Home today and Vee

We are starting home this morning and should get there mid afternoon. Going to take it nice and slow again and enjoy the scenery off the main roads.

I have just read vee's blog and she has written such a nice post about our meeting on Tuesday. Thanks Vee for all your kind words.

Well off I go for some breakfast.
Enjoy your day.
Happyone :-)

More Moose

We headed for home today and had a nice ride staying off the highways so we spent a lot of time in the car. It's so nice to see some of the country side instead of busy highways. Our GPS has really come in handy though at times it takes us way out of the way!! It is amazing how that thing works and I don't know how we got along without it.

Here are the rest of the moose pictures that I took on Monday in Bennington, Vermont.
I think this first one is my favorite. There are 10,000 pictures on it.A close up

Hope you enjoyed looking at all the moose. :-)
Enjoy your evening.
Happyone :-)

Maine vacation continues

Tuesday morning we walked around Bennington for a couple of hours. All over town there are moose - 55 of them to be exact, all works of art that different businesses have painted and dressed in their own special way as a way to attract tourists to their town. Here is a picture of one of them. I have 9 more of them that I'll post another day. We left Bennington and continued on our way. Tuesday was the day we planned to meet Vee and her husband John for an early dinner in Naples, Maine. All went according to plan and it was so much fun finally meeting Vee in person after being blogging friends for so long. We had a great time talking and laughing. Here we are just finishing up a fish and chip dinner. Me, John, Vee (she didn't want her picture taken) and Ken.After dinner we walked next door to an ice cream stand and had some ice cream for dessert. :-) I think John likes ice cream just as much as I do!! Vee had a few very nice surprises for me. Chocolate chip cookies and whoopie pies and this note book for me to record happy times in. I had a great time and am so glad that got to meet. :-) All too soon it was time to say good bye and off we went to find a hotel for the evening. I had a cookie and whoopie pie and both are soooo good! Thanks so much Vee! :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wednesday we arrived at the Acadia National Park in Maine and are still here today. We have been hiking on some of the many trails here at the park. We have seen lots of beautiful scenery as we hike along the rocky trails. Here are just some of the many pictures we have taken. That's it for now. It's just about time to go walk around the town and pick out a place to eat supper. Last night we found a place that had great pizza!! Till next time..... Happyone :-)
