Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Sunday

Happy Sunday
No sunrises or sunsets this week, it's been raining or cloudy,
but here's a couple pictures from todays walk.

We sang this hymn in church this morning and it is also
one of the hymns that the church in town plays on the church
bells every day at noon.

🎶 Abide With Me 🎶
Henry Francis Lyte

1. Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see.
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

3. I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like thyself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

4. I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless,
ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.

5. Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes.
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

A Blessed Sunday to you.

My daughter lives by a church that plays music on their bells. I'd love to hear yours.

That is a beautiful hymn as far as what it says. I have never heard of it in person. I love the photos but especially the second one.

Karen, your pictures are amazing...especially that second one! And the blue that you are using for the font just seems to bring out even more beauty in the pictures.
There's such a wonderful message and reminder in that precious hymn.

A beautiful misty walk!

Beautiful photographs. We've got rain in NYC, too, and instead of outdoor fun, it was coffee, a raincoat and time with friends.

...no sunrises and sunsets, make you appreciate the one that you receive.

Some children played the bells for the residents where my mom lives now. It was beautiful! Janice

My what a truly special and sweet town you live in. A church that rings their church bells everyday at noon! Have you ever told us how you found this town to call home? I'd love to hear it.

The church by my house used to play hymns on their bells years ago. Now they just chime and don't sound nearly as nice.
