Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Rural King and Martins

61 degrees this morning, windy, and cloudy for walking today.

Walked around the cemetery on the hill first.
A side trip to the long barn to see the cows again.
Here's a mom and three little ones.

This picture was taken at the other end of the barn.

The mountain pink is now blooming among the gravestones.
Would be nice if the color lasted longer than a couple of weeks.

The forsythia is not doing well around here this year.
Just a few yellow blooms but mostly just green leaves are starting to appear.

Continued walking around the other cemetery and then headed down the main road towards home.
Turned around and walked back to town and around a block in town and that completed my steps.

We left after breakfast and drove down to Lavale.
Checked out a new store called Rural King.
It is somewhat like Tractor Supply but much BIGGER with more stuff.
We roamed around in there for a while and bought a couple small things.

Since we were down there, instead of doing our food shopping at Walmart this week we shopped at Martin's.
Such a nice store that is brightly lit and has nice wide aisles.

We were back home for a late lunch and then just puttered about the house this afternoon.
I did my usual activities of knitting and reading.
Again it was a bit too windy for reading on the porch or walking outside and adding brush to my fence.

Having Tacos for supper in just a little while.

Hope you had a wonderful day.
Thanks for coming by.

Mary - The tracts are handed out anywhere and everywhere we go.  I don't go on them but there are road trips (mostly the kids go) to different towns. Some people go house to house and leave them at the door.  I've put them in stores in purses for sale or boxed things.  So when people get home they find a tract in it.  Also books for sale or even in library books. Really anywhere you can think of. It is only limited by your imagination.😊

Beautiful photos, Karen! I am so happy to see the cows! It is rainy quite a bit today here in Montreal, perfect for getting things done indoors, having a nice hot cup of tea as well!

Beautiful photos. I don't think I'll be getting blossoms on my forsythia this year either. There were a few near the bottom of the buses but it just looks like the are going all to green

...Karen, forsythia is a hardy plant, but some forsythia varieties' flower buds aren't as hardy. After extremely cold winters, I've seen some forsythia only flower low on the plant because the snow insulated the flower buds. The best flower bud hardy varieties are
'Meadowlark'
'Northern Sun'
'Northern Gold'
'New Hampshire Gold'
'Vermont Gold'

We have a Martin's here and love it! It is our main store for regular grocery shopping. Did this cow have triplets? I have never heard of such a thing!

That blanket of pink flowers is so pretty, it would be nice if they lasted longer. Thanks for answering my question, I think it's wonderful that you leave yours in purses or other merchandise for people to find when they get home!!! That is a great idea.

We were in Rural King on Monday as well...only in Morgantown instead of LaVale. :)

Our forsythia was the same way here this year. It's pretty and green now but there were very few yellow blooms.

Love the mass of purple flowers. I too wish they would stay longer than a few weeks. Janice

I wonder if the Mountain Pinks are also called creeping pinks which is apparently what the Pink April Full Moon is named for.
In any case they're pretty.

I'll have to check and see is Rural King is a thing in our parts. How nice to have a different shopping experience at Martins. The pink at the cemetery is a nice treat to see. I don't even know how I'm behind two days this week. :)
