Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cookies

It rained through the night and was still drizzly when I got up.
I waited till it stopped and then went to town at 6:50 to walk.
It was 46 degrees, windy, and cloudy.
Sunrise 7:14
Morning Walk Steps 10,636

My walk this morning around town was very random indeed, with no rhyme or reason to it at all, turning here and there wherever my feet took me.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.

A few pictures along my way.

☁️    🦃    🙂

Spent the morning in the kitchen.

Put a bunch of chicken in the crock pot.

Made some of those Forgotten Cookies which we now call Delightful Cookies.
They got that name because a couple of years ago when one of David's friends was visiting he ate one and said they were delightful.
It made us all laugh to hear him say that and the name just stuck.

Next up was making some Welsh Cookies.
These are for the Drane house bake sale.
I have one more batch to make and then they go in the freezer till December 7th which is the day of the sale.

The kitchen was quite a mess by the time I was done and when I got done cleaning it up it was lunch time already.

This afternoon I did some reading and worked on a small counted cross stitch I started yesterday.

Supper tonight was chicken burritos made with some of the chicken from the crock pot.
The rest of the chicken is in the freezer for future meals.

That's it for today.
Hope you made your Tuesday a good one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Mari - I don't have a clothes dryer so no don't ever use it. 🙂 The clothes on the drying rack I put over a heating vent. Depending on how thin or thick the clothes are and how many times the heat kicks on the clothes dry anywhere from an hour to all day.

Tom - Don't know which state the milk bottle came from.

Ginny and Anne - The reason my walk has been cut to 10,000 steps or so doesn't have anything to do with weather or darkness.  I just think 10,000 steps is a good amount for a morning walk. I'm sure in time my steps will be back up there again.  It's happened before. I do obsess about steps so this helps me to put a limit.  Besides I get home a half hour earlier.

It's been a while since I made any Welsh Cookies, but we do enjoy them. I need to check out your recipe for the Delightful cookies.

Which reminds me, I used your pumpkin bread recipe Saturday and filled up those cute little fall mini loaf pans. There was enough batter to make those six decorative loaves and six regular mini loaf pans. I gave the decorative ones to some folks at church and they loved them.

It isn't so enjoyable to walk when it's raining so a good idea to wait until it had stopped.

All the best Jan

Rachel made some cookies that sounds very similar to the Delightful Cookies. I bet every time you say the name it brings a smile either to your face or to your heart.

What kind of cow is that? Looks kind of like a buffalo!
Sounds like a good day. I like the old stone in the cemetery.
I haven't made forgotten cookies in so long. I should do that.

How many miles are in steps?

Years ago when I was in Curves they gave us a pedometer that only measured in steps but I never knew the mileage so I ditched it. Just as you obsess on steps, I am the same way with miles.

I bet those cookies are good. You are quite the baker! I used to be when the boys were little - never bought store cookies (except for Oreos) I bake about 3-4 times a month now as we’re in that season. Hardly ever in the summer. My husband bakes more than I do!!
