Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Blankets for Babies??

64 degrees this morning and cloudy and at first no wind at all.
Then a bit later a nice breeze came along.

No usual walking route, just a very random one all over the place.

Pictures I took along the way.

Pretty quiet around town this morning.
Only saw one runner who I've never seen before.

I noticed a cat (looks a bit like KitKat but it is NOT him)
sitting outside the fence just watching the chickens.
The chickens didn't seem bothered and I wondered if a cat will go after them.

Looked it up when I got home and it said very rarely will a cat
attack a full grown chicken but they will go after chicks.

Left right after breakfast and drove to church for Blankets for Babies.
There were 12 of us there this time.

It might be the last time we will being doing this.
The hospital that we give the blankets to has informed us
that we can no longer attach the cards to the blankets that we put on them.
The cards included a gospel track and an invitation to come to our church.
They said they don't want to be affiliated with our church.
It wasn't just our church but others who do similar things.

Some years ago we were allowed to go in the hospital and if the
new mothers wanted us to visit we would and give them a blanket.
(every one got a blanket whether they wanted a visit or not)
Most all welcomed us and were very thankful.
Only a handful after all these years said no.
Then we couldn't do that but could attach the cards and now
can't even do that.

So without the visit or cards people will have no idea where the
blankets come from and the whole point of the Ministry is
a way to reach people with the gospel.

There might be some other options we have and this month
people are looking into what can be done.
Next month we will see what happens.
We are all praying that this ministry in some way can continue.

I didn't do much of anything this afternoon because I
started reading and finished my book.
Tried reading on the front porch but it was a bit cool and windy
so read inside.

Happy Thursday
Thanks for stopping by

...I would expect that making those blankets is satisfying for you.

It's really a shame that you can no longer attach a little tract to those blankets for new mothers. I think that was such a worthwhile activity. Hopefully someone will come up with a good alternative.

That is so sad that you cannot do that any more...with the blankets I mean. I hope someone can find another solution.

I love the field dotted with cattle..

I always love seeing cattle in a field.
It's so sad that they won't let you attach your cards. It was such a nice outreach.

Having cats on the farm not one chicken was harmed by them. The baby chicks were always raised inside so nothing could harm them. Sad about not being able to send your blankets to the hospital. I blame it on the woke agenda where not even god matters any more. Just sad janice

Hi Karen. I hope that you can continue this excellent way of helping mothers and babies. It's too bad that the hospital won't allow it to continue. It is very sad but way too many places and organizations don't want any mention of God or church or religion. Very sad for our society.

Well, here's a thought. What ab0ut if you attach a tag to the blanket just saying that it was made by the congregation of your church. Nothing else. So they will know who is giving it to them, but that is all. I made your chicken pie today! It had a good flavor, but a bad texture. So you were right of course. I won't be making it again. Too bad, because it was real quick and easy.

That is really sad about the hospital not allowing the cards with the blankets. Hopefully you can come up with another way of being able to give them and still send the same message with them.

Love the landscapes and the cows.
I think Ginny has a good idea, to attach a tag with the name of your church.
Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend!

A very nice photo of the cattle in the field.

I would think they would allow a "made by - church name and address" - It's very sad if they don't! I would also think that possibly a women's resource center or some place like that would welcome your blankets. Maybe there is another place you can give them to.

I have a friend who makes a variety of small gifts. She paints/stitches a scripture citation only in tiny script on the bottom edge..not the entire verse. The hope is that it will provoke a curious search. God bless.

That is unfortunate for the hospital to make that decision. We could use some of your coolness! :)
