Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A Walk to Coopers Rock

53 degrees this morning and sunny when I walked.
Got to town at 6:20.
Sunrise 5:58
Morning Walk Steps
12,693

Walked around both of the cemeteries and then the ball park.
Continued up and down the main road and a few of the side streets.
Not much going on around town this morning.
Joy was out walking and we stopped and had a chat for a few minutes.

☀️    ☀️

Made us pancakes for breakfast
and got the sheets off the bed, washed, and hung out on the line.

We could have stayed home and got some yard work done because
it was so nice out but we decided to do something a little different.
We drove out to West Virginia toward Morgantown and
went to Coopers Rock for a walk.
(its about 40 minutes from home)
I've been wanting to go there for quite a while and the weather
was just perfect for a nice walk.

We got there, parked the Jeep and then started out on the trail
that headed out to the rock.

It was one of the moderate trails and we saw quite a few
butterflies, but only one deer.
Ken almost fell trying not to step on a little toad that was sitting
in the middle of the trail.
Thankfully he didn't fall and toad hopped away.

Three miles later we got to the rock.

This is the view from on the rock.

We saw a few people here and there but had the place
mostly to ourselves.

We took turns swinging on the swing.
I told Ken I wanted one of these out back of our house.

Then we walked the 3 miles back to the parking lot again.
We had packed a lunch and sat at one of the picnic tables and had lunch.
Then it was back home.

I sat out on the porch for a while when we got home.
Then had to get the sheets off the line and the bed made.

Made fried rice for supper and had that along with
fried shrimp made in the air fryer.

Such a nice day and I got to go for two walks.
Lots of steps in today.
So far I've taken 31,500 steps today and will have even more by the end of the day.

I only have 3 more weave-it squares to make for the June baby
blanket and will get that done later and maybe start sewing them together
later this evening after my ice cream.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you and thanks for stopping by.

I never would have thought that reading about someone's day to day life would be so interesting. I always look forward to reading about what you have been up to. I am SOOOO glad you returned to blogging!! Wow, the view there is beautiful! Especially the winding creek/river. A swing is a fabulous idea! I always loved swinging. But unfortunately, we both now have vertigo and have to watch the way we move our heads. I made pancakes this morning as well. Cream Brulé ones with caramel sauce.

We love Cooper's Rock! It looks like going there through the week instead of on the weekend is an excellent choice.

Lots of steps today!
It looks like a beautiful day weather wise, and a fun day with the trip to Coopers Rock. I haven't heard of it, but it's such a gorgeous view! I agree that you need a swing like that.

WOW, that is some fabulous view. That swing is pretty cool. Will that be Ken's next project?
That is a lot of steps in one day. I'm impressed. I rarely get over 8,000 in a day.

What a beautiful view! Worth the 3 mile walk, for sure :) I am amazed at the amount of steps you take.

Good idea to trade the yard work in for a daytime adventure. As they say, the yard work will still be there tomorrow. That looks like a beautiful place for a hike and the "Almost Heaven" swing had me humming that old John Denver tune.

Isn't it lovely at Cooper's Rock? We always enjoy our time there when we go. Our grandchildren always enjoyed going there for picnics and hikes as well. Glad you enjoyed your time there.

Congratulations on all those steps yesterday!

I suspect that you broke all previous records for your number of steps in a day!! That does look like a great place to hike to and it looks like the weather cooperated. I just know you slept very very well last night.

That rock and view are such a great incentive for the walk even though you don't need incentive! :) Beautiful hike. What a nice escape from the regular...
