Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A brisk walk and a birthday

This morning when I walked it was 20 degrees
and after the sun rose at 7:20 there was a mix of sun and clouds.
Quite windy out too!!
Walked 6 miles

It was cold enough to wear my super duper warm coat.
Only took the above picture because I didn't want to take my hands
out of my coat to take pictures.
My hands were toasty warm in my jacket.

As usual started walking in town under the street lights.
Then around the ball park and both cemeteries.
Another trip around town and that ended my walk.

Didn't see anyone else out.

Cold but dry and warm in my warmest coat ever
and it was great to be walking outside.

Baked a birthday cake today.
Nothing fancy just a yellow cake with Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Frosting.
The cake was a box mix but made the icing.
It is Liz's birthday and it's a major one for her.
The big 50 though she sure doesn't look it.
She could easily be 40.

Ken and I finished the snowmen puzzle last night.
It was a fun puzzle but a bit of a challenge.
It took us 6 days.

Made a trip to the library to hand in a couple of books and
picked up a George Gently DVD.
This one is the first season.
We just watched season 7 and really liked it.

Read and knitted this afternoon.
Though it stayed cold all day is was a sunny one.

Thanks for visiting.

This is the cutest puzzle; each snowman looks different. But it looks so hard to do!! You guys are jigsaw experts.

It is always special to have someone bake a cake for you. I'm sure that Liz was pleased.

Was it windy? The wind here has been fierce.

Glad that you are able to stay warm on such a cold day.

That puzzle makes me smile. It's a very happy scene.
We are supposed to get really cold tonight and early next morning 4 degrees!
Hope you have a nice Friday.

What a fun puzzle! Happy birthday to Liz. She sure sounds like a nice woman and blessing to you and your son! The cake looks delicious. It's cold and windy here tonight and we are supposed to get a lot of snow tonight and tomorrow. See you again tomorrow.

For such a difficult looking puzzle I would think six days was a great time. It's such a fun-looking puzzle, just perfect for a happy one and her hubby.

I would need more than 6 days to do that puzzle, maybe 6 weeks. :)

I think the snowman puzzle would drive me crazy. Of course that does not take much these days.
