Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Corn Maze

41 degrees and cloudy when walking this morning.
Sunrise 7:43
Walked 6 miles

Walked through town and down the main road to the curve
in the road where I turned around and went back.
Turned in at the industrial park and walked around there.
Saw a deer run across the road.
Back through town and on some of the side streets and around
the ball park loop and then it was back to the Jeep.

Saw one man walking who I've never saw before.

Didn't take any walking pictures today but these two are from yesterday.

Those trusses are STILL sitting there with the weeds.
I think they were delivered there in May.

The Drane house garden as been all tidied up for winter.

After lunch David and Liz went with us to the corn maze
up the road just outside of town.
They make one every year.
It was cloudy all morning but by afternoon the clouds
were gone and it was a sunny day and perfect for walking the maze.
We all had a great time and walked just over 2 miles.
After the maze we sat at a table and had hot apple cider.

A great way to spend a fall afternoon.

Thanks for popping in for a visit.
Happy Saturday to you.

Debby and Anni - Our property once was part of the farm next to us.  Years and years ago they divided up the land and sold it.  It sat for more years.  Then it was for sale for quite a few years before we came along and bought the first 8 acres.  Later we bought another 8 acre lot and lastly a 5 acre lot. There are remnants of a fence and barbed wire in places that we've come across.  Parts of the land was a pasture but after so many years it turned into a forest.

Vee - The tree we took down was dead for a year so the wood is good for firewood now.

MsBB - We have a gas fireplace at this house.  You remember correctly, the house in town where we lived before here did have a pellet stove.

...what a shame that those trusses laying down. There a lot of money rotting away.

It's so crazy to just leave those trusses laying there. They will just rot and they sure aren't cheap!
The corn maze looks like fun! What a nice day!

The corn maze sounds like fun, I've never been in one.

What a fun day. Was the maze challenging?

Too bad about those trusses just out in the grass and weather like that. Shockingly wasteful. Something bad must have happened.

That's just what I was hoping to hear that the wood was good and ready for burning.

What fun to go walking a corn maze. If I tried it, I'd still be in there.

Hi Karen. The corn maze sounds like fun! I didn't realize you have so many acres of land there at Happy Trails. That is a good, large piece of property. I wonder why the trusses have never been used. I hope you have a good Sunday. See you then!

Looks like a good corn maze! It's fun to share the adventure with others. That is so unfortunate about those trusses! They aren't cheap!

The garden at the Drane house is so neat and tidy. The gravel finishes it all off too. I've never been to a corn maze. Sounds like fun. So does hot apple cider.

Those trusses are not going to be any good if they stay there any longer. I have never been to a Corn Maze something I must do. Hot apple cider does not appeal to me

To think of all the money spent on those trusses and now they are just laying there.
The corn maze sounds like fun.

Hello,
It seems a waste to leave those trusses just laying there. The Drane House Garden looks neat and pretty. The corn maze sounds like fun. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a wonderful week!

The maze, the hot cider...a perfect outing I'm sure. You two have purchased a great bit of land and sounds like a wonderful haven. Thanks for the input!!

Have never done a corn maze!!!!

did do a Haunted Hay Ride some years ago though. Wanted to and we did. -giggggles-

Gas fireplace, as we do now. Trouble is, they simply pull heat out of house, so its only cost effective, in in between weather. In deep winter, it's not cost effective.

Those trusses will be no good by the time they get around to using them! It's been years since I walked through a corn maze!
