Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Day 2

Day 2 of not walking

Today was a Fingerprint working day at church the first time I haven't gone.
Ken went though and made me promise to stay off my foot as much as possible.

In a couple of weeks is Babies for Blankets day at church
and I am giving the little devotional this month.
Today I wrote it.
I compared my morning walk to walking daily with God.
Glad to have that done.
Always a little apprehensive coming up with topics that will be meaningful
to others, but somehow God always sends me an idea.

I sat out on the porch again and did some reading and also knitted.

The lane that runs along one side of our property got
two big truck loads of gravel spread out on it.
The driveway to David and Liz's cabin is off the lane and
a couple other people live up at the end of the lane.

Our neighbor Lori (part timer) who lives up the LONG driveway on the other side
of us is getting work down on her driveway.
There is a problem with drainage and when it rains the water runs
down and washes gullies in it.
In winter when it rains or snows it turns to ice and runs down in the road in front our our driveway which makes it a sheet of ice.
We won't have that problem anymore this coming winter.

Since I'm not walking there are no walking pictures,
but took these sitting on the porch.
One of our trees has died as you can see in the first picture.
Ken will have to cut it down one day soon.

Right after I took the pictures we had a thunder storm come through.
It didn't get too windy so I got to stay sitting on the porch.
When it first started raining the air had that summer rain smell to it.
Such a great smell.

Thanks for popping in.
A happy Friday to you. 😀

It took three tries before blogger would let me start typing this ... Hope it allows me to send it.
I had to go back a couple of posts to see what happened. I am so sorry for your fall. I'm always worrying about you falling in the winter when it's icy.
Isn't it funny how women look around to see if anyone saw us, out of embarrassment, but if someone else falls we're the first ones there to ask if you're okay.

Oh....great photos from your porch! And yes, nothing like a summer rain and the fragrance on parched land.

You have a nice view from your porch! I love the smell of a summer rain (after all the dust it blows up settles!) Hope you are back to walking soon!

You walk farther with God than I do, but I feel I walk with him too. He’s right by my side.

I love the smell of rain on a summer day. I am also enjoying the warm summer breezes that have been blowing here late in the day. Your idea for the upcoming devotional is excellent.

So are you getting a bit antsy not being able to do your 6 mile walk in the morning? I know it always gets to me when I can't do something that is part of my normal routine.
You've got a great view from your porch. I like being able to sit out when it's raining.

Hi, Karen. I had to go back a couple posts to see why you're off your foot. Isn't it like human nature that when we fall, our first thought is "Did anyone see me"? I'm glad you're on the mend. I love the smell of rain too. One of my fond memories of childhood was sitting on our back stoop while it rained and that lovely smell! Take care and I hope you're back walking again soon.

What happened that you can't walk? Did you injure yourself? Hope whatever it is, heals soon. I know how you enjoy your early morning walks. Love to see pictures of whatever your knitting. I've not knitted in over a week, which is pretty weird for me. Been busy I guess. Beautiful view you have from your porch.

How nice to have things to occupy you while you are taking it easy. Sounds like some good improvements for everyone's properties.

I'm so sorry you hurt your ankle. That's terrible for someone who is such a faithful walker like you. Hope it heals fast. Glad Ken is taking good care of you...of course he would...he always does. You have a good husband. The view from your porch reminds me of being in the mountains. It's so pretty. I know exactly that smell of rain you're talking about and I love it!

I am missing posts again!!!!!!

-sigh-

Guess I have to click on each blog, every day, to make sure no new posts have been put up.

Well, now I know!
