This morning it was back to walking in town
54 degrees, dark, and clear.
The last half hour the sun finally came over the mountain
and I got to walk in the sunshine.
I saw three deer on my way to town, and two more on my way home.
Saw Joy out walking at two different times.
We stopped for a short chat each time.
Walked all over town, both cemeteries and the ball park.
The walnut tree I pass has started dropping walnuts
and I picked up 6 of them.
(that's all I could carry - 3 in each hand)
I found this LINK telling about how to get to the nuts.
Tomorrow I'm going to take a bag with me and get more walnuts.
I walked 6 miles
🌤 👟 🎃
The two loads of laundry I hung out on the line dried super quick
in the sun and breeze.
This morning I made 2 loaves of English Muffin Loaves.
Pictures taken from the top of our driveway.
My neighbor
This afternoon I went to see how Ken's bridge is coming along.
Here's a picture from the other day.
This is what it looked like when I saw it today.
Now he just has to clear things up a bit and then back fill.
Back at the house I read a while before supper.
Supper was hot ham and cheese sandwiches and
French fries made in the air fryer.
That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Monday to you. 🙂

GrannyM - I've never seen hunters on the state land but have heard gun shots. We always wear bright orange when we are in the woods. This week it is bear hunting season so I'll stay off the state land.

That is a nice lookin bridge! Beautiful fall shot from your driveway. Fine lookin neighbor, too. :)
I do like the photograph taken from your driveway, what fabulous Autumn colours.
All the best Jan
Gorgeous fall colours! And a nice 'Black Baldy' too.
Hi Karen. I love the view from your driveway. Beautiful fall colors. That is a neat bridge Ken is building. He is so good at things like that. We are having a very windy and rainy day here, but Charly and I took an afternoon walk as soon as I got home from school. See you again tomorrow. :-)
The neighbours are good company.
You still have some beautiful Fall color and you and your husband both work so hard. But you're making it more and more beautiful at your home. I'm not good at getting back to questions so I'll answer you here. I am allergic to all sugar, even honey and maple syrup. I can only eat a little fruit at one time as long as it is with some other food, like blueberries on oatmeal. I've had to learn over the years what how much, or little fruit I can have. No juice at all. Anyway, thanks for caring! Enjoy your evening!
Those fall leaves are so pretty.
I have always heard that “good fences make good neighbors “ I hope you have them. 😉 Ken must be feeling quite pleased with his radio antenna bridge! Your fall color must be near peak now. How could it get more beautiful?
What a great view you have from your driveway! You have more color than us, but I am so happy to say we are starting to get some. I like your neighbor, too.
We used to gather walnuts when we were kids. And I will still pick up a few when I am out. We always tried to lay them in the drive way where the cars would run over them.
I am sure you know they stain your hands, but want to mention it in case you don't know. I didn't care as a kid, and don't really mind that much now if mine are stained. When the hulls start to get black they come off easier.
Reading about harvesting the walnuts I found it so interesting that Black Walnuts give off a substance that inhibits growth and for that reason you shouldn't put the husks in the compost. Who knew, huh?
I wonder if the walnuts we buy in the grocery store are Black walnuts or if there are other kinds. Must find out.
Those look like black walnuts (my dad had a tree). They are super on vanilla ice cream.
The bridge progress is impressive. As is the autumn scenery!!
But, I like your neighbor best!!!
Thank you for the walnuts info.
God bless.
Wow, the fall colors are beautiful. Ken has done a great job on the bridge.
Love the sweet cows. Take care, have a great day!
...when handling walnuts, I hope you wear gloves. They can stain you skin.
Glorious autumn color from the top of your drive. Magazine, calendar or puzzle worthy!
The colours of autumn are looking great. Ken's bridge is coming along just fine, I like it.
Woke today (Tues.) to pouring rain, and thought of your walk. Wondering if you waited.....? -smile- Will find out tomorrow.
I think you are getting some of this Nor'easter, too.
Gorgeous view you have.
Glad to see and hear of the orange clothing! And you will stay away, for bear hunting.
Mmmm do you ever see bears?????????

That is a gorgeous photo from the top of your driveway.
English Muffin bread toasted sounds so good right now. I'm thinking I need to make some too.
Ken's bridge is looking really nice.
Such a jam packed post of great things and pics. #21 looking very clean, driveway pics beautiful, a great recycled bridge and air fryer food. I recently found a 7 sided coin with Arabic writing on it, googled and its a coin from United Arab Emirates. I may take it to a coin dealer to see if it's a common coin. What a surprise find, for me. A great Monday for you, Karen.
You could hire some squirrels to help get into the black walnuts. We don't have a black walnut tree, but someone in our neighborhood obviously does because we are always finding the outer casings and the shells themselves, all over our sidewalks and driveway. I'm always kicking the shells off the sidewalk so that I don't step on them wrong and twist an ankle. They are very hard and don't break under your foot like a normal walnut shell would. Good luck. They are very tasty but often not thought to be worth the work.
