Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The last sunflower

Woke up a little late again this morning.
I think my body is adjusting to the time change next month.
Got to town just after 7:00 to begin my walk.

Saw a couple of deer on my way to town and one of them
I almost hit.  She ran right in front of me but thankfully
I have good brakes and she was fast.
It was the closest I've ever come to hitting one!

It was 42 degrees this morning and a nice fall morning.
A mix of sun and clouds.

Walking down from the cemetery on the hill I saw Rebecca
going up.  Told her I left a message on the mirror.
She laughed and said, "I thought that must have been you leaving
those messages."
Today I left 'have a happy day'.

A young mother was walking her baby in a stroller around
the ball park.  Her baby was so cute with a hat that had bunny ears.

Nice getting to town a little bit later and being able to walk in the sun.
Looking forward to getting the time back to normal and then I sure
wish they'd leave it alone!!

Walked around town collecting some Bench Pictures for the
Bench Series coming up soon.

I spotted this pretty sunflower which I think is the last one blooming in town.

Walked 6 miles 👟

🌤    🎃    🌤

We had some of the pumpkin bread for breakfast.
Ken likes his plain but I like a bit of butter on mine.

Drove over to Grantsville to Walgreens and then
went for a little ride before coming back home.

Ken went outside after lunch but I had a few things I needed to do.
Made Macaroni Salad for our supper to go with hamburgers.
Then used up THE LAST of that PUMPKIN and made another
crustless pumpkin pie.

I removed the husks from the Walnuts I found
which was very easy.  I just stepped on them, moved them around
a bit and the husks came right off.
I only have 9 walnuts - thought I'd start off with just a few
to see how it went.
Then washed them with the hose the best I could.
(did remember to wear gloves)

Now they just have to sit and dry a couple of weeks before
I can take the nuts out.

Got some more knitting done.
I'm working on a hat for Liz.
Love the yarn and the color and if I have any yarn left
I'm going to make myself one too.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

I too wish they'd get rid of daylight saving time.

I really need to get out and see if I can pick up a few walnuts....I always loved doing that as a kid. We would pick up a lot...

Hi Karen, I am glad you didn't hit that deer. We hit one a few years back in the Utah mountains. The deer jumped over the guardrail and right into our car. The deer didn't die, but ran off and I am sure it must have been badly hurt. The front of our car had a lot of damage and it was traumatic all the way around. This is the time of year, when lots of deer are out, especially at dusk and in the early morning. You will have to post a picture of Liz's hat when you are finished with it. Have a good Friday!

We saw two sets of deer this week. Luckily my husband spotted them both times and they passed in front of our car and on their merry way. We have lots of sunflowers in our yard yet, but they're drying up quick so it's almost time to pull them out.

Golly, that IS a hefty amount of pumpkin!!
Beautiful criss-cross sky photo. Cute (and fun) idea with the mirror messages.

That is one of the prettiest sunflowers I've seen.

Hello,
Love your sky nd sunflower. I rode past a field of sunflowers, they really looked pretty. I had a deer run in front of my car too, I stopped and waited till it went across. I wish they would stop changing the clocks. Take care, enjoy your day! Happy weekend!

You always seem so busy. Do you have more hours in the day than the rest of us?

God bless.

Not long now, till we return to "Nature's Time"! -smile- And today's 7am will be 6am.

YES!!!!!! Leave our Time on Nature's Time!!!!!!!!!

But people must be making $$$$$$$, because of this going back and forth. And everyone knows, if $$$$$$ is being made, this will not change. Bahhhh-humbugggggg....

ahhh the last sunflower.

These will be precious walnuts, after this process. But it's being fun. And makes a rather pretty picture too.

Shadows mutter,
mist replies;
darkness purrs
as midnight sighs.

It would be great if they just left our clocks alone! :)
Glad you missed that deer. They say around here that there are two kinds of people, those who have hit a deer, and those that will hit a deer.
Happy weekend to you.

That is a pretty sunflower. It is different than some I have seen. I didn’t realize it but there are a number of different kinds of sunflowers.
