Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A peek inside the gate

This morning when I walked it was 39 degrees and cloudy.
The sun did pop out for a little while but clouded up again
once I got home.

Another walk around town, the cemeteries and ball park.

Walking past the bakery, the owner was just coming out to put
out the OPEN sign and I stopped to talk.
Told him it always smells so good walking past.
He asked me all the usual walking questions.
I asked him when they planned on moving into where Annie's was.
They were hoping by Memorial Day but didn't think it would happen
that soon.  Part of the new place will still be a bakery/deli but the other
part will sit 25 people and serve a full breakfast menu as well as
burgers and fries for lunch.
I'm sure they will do a great business there!!
As I was leaving the guy said when we move you won't be able to
smell the baking anymore.
I told him I still would because I walk passed the new place too. 🙂

The path behind the ball park.

Remember the picture of the GATE from Tuesdays post?
Here's a peek inside.

That's my walk for today.
Walked 6 miles

☁️    🙂    🌸    ⛅️

Made us some fried bread (French toast) for breakfast.
I usually put sugar on it but lately have been sprinkling
cinnamon sugar on it and like that even better.
Ken still likes syrup best on his.

After breakfast we went to the church and put away the
Fingerprints stuff from yesterday. It was just a short session and they
put together a little over 1800 Romans books.
Our friend Bettye was at church putting the bulletins for Sunday
together and it was so nice to see her in person and have a chat. 😃

Many times we are behind a tractor or some other farm equipment
driving down the road but rarely behind one this size.

Finished up the last of the housework this afternoon.
Then read and finished up the last couple of weave-its for May's baby blanket.
Now I have to make a pattern out of them and sew them together.

Now that we have a bread machine again we made home made
pizza this evening for supper.

Hope all is well with you and your Friday was a happy one.
Thanks for stopping by.

In Texas the county roads are often seen being used by huge farm equipment!! LOVE the view behind the gate. And seeing Bettye sounds like our world is becoming "more normal"!!

We have big equipment around here, too. I love the sky in that photo. And I like the view behind the gate, too.

Forget the colors of the May blanket and will be surprised when it is finished. That is a rather wide tractor! Is that a red bird house behind the gate? Thanks for sharing and have a great Friday night!

It's hard for me to imagine it still being that cold there in the morning. Of course here in Florida it's rare even in winter to get down in the 30s or even the 40s. When does your weather warm up there? So glad you were able to chat with a few people today. It definitely makes life feel a bit more back to normal. Have a great weekend. :)

Nice pictures today. I love that path behind the ballpark. That's a huge tractor to have to follow down the road. Have a good weekend and I will see you again tomorrow.

I made your recipe for Dill bread today and it turned out so good. Next time I'll put in more dill, more onion and maybe even some dried garlic. Yum. Thanks for sharing the recipe. ( I'll be posting pictures of the bread soon).

Hello,
I love the photo of the woods and flower. Smelling the baked goods and bread is so tempting, yum. I love french toast, with syrup, cinnamon or powdered sugar. Happy Mother's Day weekend. Have a great day!

I bet some drivers get impatient behind one of those large machines. It would be hard to see to pass.

Farm equipment has been on the move here as fields are being prepped for planting. That's a nice path behind the ballpark. Glad you could see a friend from church face to face and catch up.

That is a nice looking yard behind that gate! I would be tempted to stop in for something if I walked past a bakery and it smelled so good!

May's blanket is all done except the putting together? Wow, that was fast! I'm afraid I'd be stopping in at the bakery for a treat every time I walked by. The aroma of baking bread and goodies would be too tempting to pass up. We live in a farm community too and often see their equipment on the roads. We like maple syrup on our French toast too, but the real stuff, not the stuff you get in the grocery stores. Enjoy your weekend!

Your walks have such lovely scenery along the way. The new bakery with breakfast and lunch service sounds really good.
